What makes us Human

Summary:

I've been missing bedrock bros so I wrote this

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Work Text:

Tommy laid on top of the obsidian coating his house.

(He couldn't call it a home)

He gazed to the sky, once bright blue eyes now a dull grey.

He heaved out a sigh "Why is it, Big Man, that you keep failing? First Wilbur, then Tubbo, then Techno, then everybody?" he asked the sky, and it gave no answers.

He sat up, and looked down upon the obsidian, it's damned black color followed him everywhere he went no matter how far he seemed to run.

He laughed wetly before throwing his arms up in the air and yelling out "And now look at this! Failed to even keep my own damn house safe so now I'm homeless just like that Green Bitch! GOOD JOB you..." Even when he knew what word was appropriate, no matter how true it was, it still hurt to hear.

"... you failure"

He swung his legs back over the obsidian as he stared towards the setting sun. That's when he heard quiet footsteps approaching him from behind, something trailing behind them.

He couldn't even be bothered to look back and see who it was, not even when they sat down next to him with a heavy thump.

Then he heard an all too recognizable deep, gravelly, monotone voice speak:

"We all fail, we all make mistakes. It's what makes us human."

He let out a low wet chuckle. The Blade was here to lecture him was he? Not even kill him, just mock him? Well Tommy fucking Innit wasn't going to let that happen so easily.

"I'm sorry Techno, but how have you ever failed?" The Blade never failed. Always standing above him and destroying shit and never fucking losing. Always being one step ahead or with a backup plan and always winning. Point being: He didn't fail like Tommy did

That's when Tommy felt a hand encompass his shoulder, and The Blade turned him so they were face to face. His dark red eyes gazing deep into his own grey ones.

"I failed you"

Tommy couldn't stop himself from bursting into tears as he held Technoblade close. As he held the one he had so desperately wanted to hold once more. The one who made him feel safe. He felt the warm arms surround him even as he muttered out apologies that were quieted with gentle encouraging whispers.

Tommy cried himself to sleep in those strong, safe arms.  Thinking that maybe now, finally, he could have a home once more.

Maybe now, he could be human again.

I write fanfics to destress over finals.
