FUNNEH’S POV
The sound of the liquid hitting against the bottom of the glass cup flowed into my ears. The steam of the fresh and warm coffee also flowed into my nostrils. Not to mention, even some of the droplets splashed onto my cheek but I did not bother to wipe it off.
While I was pouring myself a cup of coffee, Gold was in the living room. A cramped one, to be exact. Some of Gold’s clothings was scattered all around the couches, ready to be hung in her closet. She was always the one who complained about my mess that wasn’t even as bad as the one in front of me.
A small table hovered over her exposed thighs, small enough to fit a single piece of paper.
As she had scribbled down some, whatever things that I wasn’t interested in, the sound of her pen hitting against the small plastic table through that thin piece of paper could be heard just miles away. If the TV was on, maybe I wouldn’t have heard it from here. I sighed as I placed down the half filled up coffee kettle on top of the kitchen counter. The small tapping of the pen was quite relaxing.
Gold seemed really busy. She was applying for college for a fashion designing degree. Unlike her, I was not interested. I rolled my eyes at my lazy thoughts and ached my head back. The cold touch of the cup touched against my lip, sending a quickly shiver down my spine.
I gasped for breath once I had drunk almost the entire cup of coffee. Which wasn’t that good for my health but who cares? It’s just coffee. I wiped my covered faint brown lips with the back of my hand while my other had pulled up my oversized shirt over my shoulders. Well, it wasn’t exactly mine. It was— Evan’s.
Evan and I didn’t have that much of a height difference, to be honest. But, as time went by, he had grown way bigger and taller than me. He offered to lend his shirt to me since I had split on mine yesterday. Yesterday..
I grasped my fingers into the shirt, a hand full of the black fabric was now in my hand. I then lifted it close to my nose while I leaned in my head closer, too. I took a big sniff of it, my eyes shutting along the way. It smelt really nice. It smelt like— him. Like Evan..
I shot my eyes wide open and lifted my head slightly away from the fabric, just inches away. I now couldn’t smell his scent, which had hardened my heart just a bit. I shook my head violently by my stupid thoughts. I sighed and released the fabric out of my fist.
The sound of Gold’s soft humming disturbed my stupid thoughts. I perked up to share her a single glance to see what was up. I could see Gold’s beautiful and sharp side profile from afar. On the bridge of her sharp and long nose, a pair of circular golden glasses were placed on top. She used the knuckles of her finger to push them up to prevent them from sliding any further.
In her ear was a white earbud. I trailed my eyes down, following the wire to her lid up and now buzzing phone. It only buzzed for about a split second but Gold didn’t even bother to check it. She was actually really serious about it. I drank up the rest of my coffee before walking towards her.
“What’s up, Gold?” I asked, standing behind her with my arms laid on top of the couch. I could see her head suddenly perking up away from the table after some time. “Fine,” she unplugged her earbuds before answering me. Her voice was a bit raspy and dry. Has she not drunk a single drop of water since she had started?
Gold turned her face behind her, which was towards me. I sealed my lips together as tight as I could to not gasp out loud but I could not control the muscles of my eyes and brows. They automatically raised at the slightest even though I tried my best to not act surprised by Gold’s look.
Under her lashes hovering above her golden eyes were barely even opening. I bet that she must have put some effort into opening her eyes, even just the slightest. Underneath her eyes were just plain black bags that must’ve been carrying a load of.. something. Her used to be glistening bright pink lips were now pale.
Wrinkles could be seen on her now pale lips. Her throat must’ve been so dry.. Poor girl.
Gold stuck out her pink tongue and licked it all over her dry lips. She gulped after. “Anyways,” she lifted up the corners of her mouth with effort, “Funneh, would you mind being my model for a project I’m working on?”
“I don’t mind.”
“Great! Is it uh, okay for you to go get ready? Wear a bit of makeup since I’ll be taking pictures of you.”
I nodded my head with a small hum in response. She smiled with a soft chuckle, turning her head away from mine. “I’ll just be editing the dress onto your body to see if it’ll look great.”
“I won’t be helping you, is that okay? I just have to work on a couple more dresses and hats.”
“Okay,” I responded. I sighed and walked towards the stairs. Before I did, I took one last glance at Gold's back. Strands of her brunette hair were sticking out though she tied it neatly into a bun when I first saw her in the morning. I could see her shoulder moving at the slightest, hearing back the sound of the tapping again.
I looked back up at the stairs while my palm landed on top of the wooden railing. “I’ll be using your makeup, okay?” I said loudly before stepping quickly up. “Okay!” she responded back loudly yet effortlessly. Poor girl, I should’ve grabbed her a cup of water first.
GOLD’S POV
I rubbed my eyes, the side of my hand rubbing against the clear plastic of my lenses. Great, there was probably some smudges now. I could feel my eyes rolling by itselves though they were covered by my eyelids. I groaned out of annoyance. I dropped my pencil down by pure accident.
As soon as I did, a loud thud could be heard both from the door and the floor. I adjusted my glasses a bit more neatly and brushed away a couple of strands sticking out of my hair. I yawned while closing my eyes, a single droplet of tear then rolled down my cheek. Who could that be?
I slowly and carefully lifted up the plastic table and placed it on top of the floor. I picked up my pencil that had already rollen towards the other side of the room. Thankfully, it didn’t roll down into the beneath of a drawer. I tucked some strands behind my ear as I walked, placing the straight black pencil behind my ear.
From just here, I could see through the foggy window that a tall and slender figure was there. Their skin wasn’t that pale nor was it dark. Who could that be? I wondered to myself.
I twisted the doorknob and pulled it towards myself while taking a couple steps back. I lifted up my head to see the one and only— Evan. He was definitely much, much, much taller than before. Taller than Alec, must I add. His arms were a bit slender, unlike Alec’s and Prince’s. He was just the same as Kyran. (get it bc they’re both the second choice LMAO I’M SO FUNNY /s)
His hair was a bit messy and overgrown. Well, it was considered overgrown for a boy, apparently. The teal dye at the fringe of his hair was even faded into his natural hair color at the ends. That color was obviously— black.
Evan crouched down to my height, which I was a bit taken back by. He leaned in close while his necklace hung over his neck. “Hi,” he greeted simply while breathing heavily. His shoulders and chest were particularly in sync while they went up and down non stop.
I lifted up my arm and waved it side by side. “Hi Evan,” I said back with a yawn that wasn’t intentional. I covered my mouth quickly after. He laughed at my movement and straightened his back once he stopped crouching at me as if I was a toddler. Without saying anything else, he welcomed himself in.
I followed him from behind. “Where’s Funneh?” Evan asked, looking around the dorm with his pockets stuffed with his skinny hands. His supposingly straight back was now bending, as if he was a shrimp. He was wearing a white tank top that seemed a bit too tight for his liking. Whatever, it wasn’t my business.
I grabbed myself a coke out of the fridge with a puff out of my lips. “Upstairs, in my room,” I exclaimed. “Why do you want to know?”
He pulled out his hand and began to twirl a strand of his dyed teal hair around. “I borrowed her my shirt and I’m here to get it back,” he responded. I nodded my head. “Go upstairs then, she’s just in my room.”
Evan nodded with a smile. He bowed his head at me slightly as a ‘thank you’, which I assumed, before rushing up the stairs. These love birds, I swear. I shrugged my shoulders and went back to my work. These love birds, I swear.
FUNNEH’S POV
I grabbed against the circular knob that was coated with a coat of gold paint and pulled it towards myself, revealing a bunch of makeup products that I had never seen before. It was a lot, more than the makeup I had, that was for sure. I stuck my hand in there and immediately after a split second, the surface of the metals, plastic and even brushes hit against my skin.
They were cold yet nice. Nice to have that touch against my skin. I looked through a bit more while my head looked down at the white drawer. My fingers pinched a random makeup product and I lifted it up. It was a makeup brush. I rolled my eyes with scrunched brows, clearly annoyed at myself for not telling the difference between a makeup brush and lipstick. Geez, I was the definition of stupidity.
I took out one of the random makeup products I had selected, accepting defeat that I would never find that bright red lipstick I was looking for. I share my gaze away from the small bed I was sitting on and towards the object pinched between my thumb and index finger.
I raised my brows while my lips parted away just at the slightest. I pushed my other palm against the bed sheet, not noticing how much it had wrinkled because of it but that was none of my business at that time. I lifted both of the corners of my lips almost automatically with widened eyes. I flipped opened the cap and there it was, the bright red lipstick I was looking for.
I twisted the silver coated server of the object as the red lipstick slowly began to grow taller. I leaned against the drawer, which had a huge mirror on top and stared at my pale lips. That lipstick was inches away from my lips. As its flat surface touched against my bottom lip, a small shiver went down my spine.
I didn’t mind. I continued applying it smoothly on my bottom lip with my mouth gaped open. But before I could finish.. The door to Gold’s room slammed open.
I flinched by the sudden loud noise, the lipstick in my hand flicked away from my lips and dragged towards my chin, creating a crooked line from my lips towards my chin. I stared at the lipstick I borrowed from Gold and it wasn’t as pleasant looking as before.
A small chunk of it was missing. That red chunk was on my chin. It wasn’t as smooth as before. It was now more roughed and dirtied. I turned my body away from the vanity while hiding the lipstick behind my back to see.. Evan?
“Evan? What are you doing here?” I asked in an instant. I could feel my cheeks burning already by wearing his shirt in front of him. His gaze scanned my body. He laughed with a single finger on his bottom lip.
“Why are you still wearing my shirt?” he asked while laughing. “And why is your face like that?”
“Your sudden arrival startled me, okay?” I complained while rolling my eyes. I sighed and revealed the lipstick in my hand to Evan and I. I couldn’t focus on anything but that rough edge on the lipstick. Gold was going to murder me, on god. I sat on top of the bed and lowered down my head, along with the lipstick in hand.
I puffed out my rosy cheeks while my arms crossed on top of my chest. I could hear that pathetic giggle out of Evan’s mouth. “You’re too cute Funneh!” he said out loud. Again, I was startled by his sudden loud voice. No, actually, his compliment was the reason I was startled. Or so I thought it was a compliment..
I couldn’t help but look at anything but him. Just anything! I felt my cheeks burning already. When he had just said the word ‘cute’ my stomach couldn’t help but flutter all around my stomach. I grasped my hands against the shirt I was wearing, which belonged to Evan. I slid my teeth onto my lip, biting against it as hard as I could to not blabber anything.
My heart couldn’t help but skip a beat or two. No, more than that. I couldn’t even count how many because of how much they were. I released my grasp against the shirt and tucked a strand behind my ear. I could feel every part of my body burning already..
Suddenly, my ears perked to hear soft chuckles from someone. Of course, that someone must be Evan. I slowly turned my head towards him, his teeth gritting against his lip harshly while he smiled. Just after a few seconds of us making eye contact, his teeth slid away from his bottom lip and began to release the emotion he was trying to hide within him.
I chuckled awkwardly and nudged my elbow against his shaking arm. “What’s so funny?” I questioned. He hid his mouth with his hand, using his other to point towards my ears. “They’re red! Your face too!” he snorted.
My already reddened ears and face were probably more reddened now. I held my cheeks using my two hands, cupping them and squishing them harshly. If you couldn’t tell, I was trying to massage them. “They are?” I mumbled out with a quivering and croaky voice.
From the corners of my eyes, I could tell that he was nodding his head. “That red lipstick across your chin blends in really well,” he joked, again. Immediately after his comment, I hid my face into my palms while my ears were now covered by my long hair. I stood up from the bed with a wrinkled bed sheet and said “That’s it, I’m going to go wash my face—“
A sudden action of someone stopped me from continuing my words. Evan’s hand gripped against my wrist, pulling away one of my hands from my face. His grasp around my wrist was warm and welcoming though it was uncomfortable for his strength around my wrist. I formed a small gap between my lips, only able to see my two yellowish white front teeth but again, I was stopped when he pulled me closer towards him. Towards his lap.
His warm and slender fingers wrapped around my wrist, using his other to wipe the red lipstick off of my chin. I couldn’t help but squirm in his lap, body quivering by his warm yet comforting touch. I was stopped and steadied by his hand, pushing against my shoulder. He used his thumb and began to smudge the lipstick on my face.
“Stay still for me, ‘kay?” Evan muttered softly between his lips. “Okay,” I mouthed without a sound, my lips moving at the slightest bit. I could see his lips curling to the corners of his rosy cheeks, releasing a chuckle on the way.
EVAN’S POV
I bit my teeth as hard as I could while smudging the red lipstick all around her face. My attempt at helping Funneh wipe it off was a total failure. I released another soft giggle from the small gaps between my teeth. Her face was now much cleaner than before yet it still looked dirty.
Stains of my fingerprints, specifically my thumb, were all around her cheek but it wasn’t that noticeable, right? At least it wasn’t for me. I took my hand away from her face, getting a quick look at her. This time, I puffed out my cheeks while sucking in my lips. I gripped my hands against her shoulders, her body shaking by my grip.
Funneh lifted up a brow of hers, confused by my facial expression, or not. But by her confused her cute look with that red stain all over her face, I just could not contain myself to hold in my laughter. I released my grasp from her shoulder and slipped my lips out of my mouth, releasing the air in my cheeks while releasing the sudden laughter that had been in my throat for a while.
I could feel the weight on my lap suddenly loosened, hearing a loud thud and a squeal after. I must have startled Funneh, again a bit too much that she had fallen onto the floor. I flicked a single tear away from my eye, my laughter slowly fading away by any second. “I-I’m sorry,” I said with a tiny bit of breath left in my lungs.
I saw Funneh on the floor with her back against the brick wall behind her. Her palm rubbed against her neck with her long blue hair covering most part of her face.I giggled, watching Funneh helping herself to even sit properly instead of her shrimp spine aching against the wall behind her. She arched her head onto the wall, releasing a soft groan while she did.
Her long hair was pushed back by her hands, strands of the blue ruffling through her fingers. Her curved neck was exposed to me. She looked way more different than before. Feeling my cheeks burning hot already, I shifted my eyes away, my hands cupping my reddened cheeks.
Funneh was so effortlessly beautiful. “Damn it,” I muttered to myself while my hands covered my mouth, feeling my hot breath against my palm.
I shifted my eyes back towards the girl, sitting peacefully on the floor. “Ouch..” Funneh let out while rubbing her back. I could see strands of her hair, covering her face, some were even sticking out. How cute, I thought to myself as I stared upon her lovingly. Funneh was even wearing my shirt which was somehow a bit big for her body size. God, I wanted to cup her cute little cheeks in my hand and just squish them so badly. They even look kissable.
“Help? Please?” Funneh’s voice asking for help suddenly stabbed through my thoughts. I was looking out at the distance, which was the small window with streaks of sunlight hitting against my face, daydreaming about Funneh. How long had I been dozing off? I snapped and shook my head to wake myself up.
I turned my head away from the window to see the girl with her arms out, shaking them a couple times. I chuckled as the muscles around my face lifted both corners of my lips up in an instant by Funneh’s call for help. “Sorry, sorry,” I mumbled to her while gripping against her wrists. “I was just thinking really deeply about.. Something.” I continue to pull her arms up towards me. The both of us let out soft giggles as we did.
I pulled her up towards me harshly, not knowing the consequences of what was going to happen. I pulled her harshly towards me and all of the sudden, I lost grip of her wrists.
My back fell against the small bed harshly with the weight of someone on top of my chest. Funneh was on top of me. Shit.
FUNNEH’S POV
I flinched and squirmed by the sudden movement from the playful boy, Evan. In an instant, I fell on top of him. It was not intentional at all! It was just a pure accident. My eyes were shut the whole time. My face slammed into Evan’s neck, my nose brushing against his straight neck as I lifted up my head away. I pushed my palm against his chest just to feel his heart pounding against his ribs just so I could sit on top of Evan’s waist.
I pulled my hand away and rubbed my reddened and stinging nose. God, it hurts. I stared down at Evan, who was below me with his hand covering his face. As a nosy girl myself, I lift my hand up towards his, wrapping my fingers around his wrists before gently pulling them aside just to get a glance of his eyes.
Evan’s green eyes were full of flutter. His eyes were half lidded with his natural long lashes hovering above them as they fluttered while he blinked at me. I had never been this close to Evan before. His eyes were.. beautiful. I slowly moved his hand away to reveal his red and burning cheeks. I couldn’t help but curl my lips because of his reaction. How adorable..
My hand continued to stay against his cheek. My thumb caressing against it. Then, the realization hit me. I raised my brows and pulled my hand away from his cheek, dragging myself away from his waist and towards his legs.
Evan, who was just now lying down, suddenly perked up from his position and straightened his back immediately. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to get that close with you,” I said, rubbing my neck with embarrassment, letting a chuckle out on the way. I made sure to not make any eye contact with him due to the awkward situation. So, I shifted my eyes away from Evan’s face and trailed them around Gold’s small room.
I didn’t get to continue observing Gold’s room, there wasn't much to see, honestly. But before I could finish and see the one last object around her room, I felt a pair of slender arms around me, suddenly shoving me inwards towards someone. And that someone was none other than— Evan.
Evan pulled me in close towards his chest. I laid my ear against it and I could hear the fast pounding syncing with mine. My stomach was fluttering at every inch of it, hitting against my stomach just to bounce back and repeating the same thing over and over again non stop. My heart was pounding as fast as Evan’s, aching against my ribs. I felt his hand ruffling through my hair with his cheek on top as well.
“I didn’t mind..” Evan muffled into my hair. The sound of his voice tickled through my skull and into my brain. He sounded soft, not like his usual self but I didn’t mind at all. I liked it. I had never seen this side of him before. I was glad I did.
I lifted up my head to feel his soft touch and the strands of my hair slipping off. I could feel the shirt even slipping off my shoulder but I didn’t care. It was as if everything around me was now blurry and didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was Evan, whose lips were inches away from mine. I gulped down a lump down my dry throat, perking my red lips to his. Evan gave me a small smile and a nod.
With that, in an instant, I laid my lips against his. I held his head in between both my hands while I did.Though it only lasted for a few seconds, I will always remember that exact moment. How soft his lips were, how warm they were against my cold ones, how his breath tinkled against my bottom lip as I pulled away.. How cute he looked with my red lip mark on his pale lips.
Evan wasn’t his usual goofy self. Even I couldn’t tell that he was a loud and childish bum at that moment. He acted romantic, more quiet and more reassuring. I slipped my hands away from the sides of his head and towards his cheeks, cupping them in mine. I leaned again for a kiss on the lips. I pulled away from him to get a look from him just to realize that I pecked my lips onto the corner of his mouth. I couldn’t help but chuckle at my stupid placement and how funny the lipmark looked on him.
“What’s so funny?” Evan released a giggle back to my obvious chuckle. “Oh nothing. Now, let’s continue.”
I pushed my palms against his shoulders, resulting in him now laying down on his back on the bed. “Hope you don’t mind.” “Oh I certainly don’t.”
GOLD’S POV
I sat down on the couch with a warm cup of coffee cupped in my hands. I drank it quietly. “What’s taking them so long?” I muttered between my lips. I sighed out my breath mixed with the scent of coffee and tiredness. “I hate my life.”
