Work Text:
Ed stumbled through the doorway and giggled upon seeing Al sitting on the couch. Al immediately knew that Ed was drunk; he always got giggly when drunk. So it wasn't a surprise when Ed plopped down next to him and fumbled with his coat, trying his best to get it off.
This time, it was Al's turn to giggle. Ed looked so silly like this. His dopey smile and cuddly nature made him look incredibly different from his normal attitude. Well, the attitude that everyone else saw. Over the past few months, Ed had loosened up with Al and let his guard down a lot more.
Alphonse couldn't even hang up the coat because the moment Ed's arms were untangled from the sleeves, they were wrapped around his waist.
"Brother!" He gasped, giving him a half-assed push. Edward giggled in return and held on tighter.
"Yooou're not gettin' up!" He slurred, nuzzling his face against his shoulder.
"But I have to hang this up! We can cuddle in a moment." Ed responded with a huff and put on a pouty face. "We can cuddle now! I don't wanna let go." He sounded almost sad at that last part.
Why is he so soft on his brother? Al never could tell. But he gives up his fight, drops the coat on the ground, and wraps his arms around his brother. Ed was always a bit cuddly when drunk, but Al could tell that something was up today. His smile was gone, and his head was buried in his shoulder.
Gently, Al placed a hand on Ed's forehead and tipped it backward until their eyes met. His eyes are sad, and it breaks his little heart. "Brother, what's wrong?" Al watches Ed's eyes fill with tears as he averts his gaze.
"M' so fucked up." Alphonse rolled his eyes. "Oh, please, everyone gets drunk sometime -"
"That's not what I mean." Ed's sharp voice suddenly cut him off. Al was shocked; he'd never heard his brother with that tone of voice.
"Brother-"
Then there was a pair of lips on his. They were dry and tasted like liquor, but they were warm as well. Before Al could get his thoughts together, the lips were removed.
"Fuck."
"Brother-"
"God, 'm so messed up."
"Ed-"
"You should leave -"
"EDWARD!"
The yell caught them both off guard and left them stunned for a moment before Al calmed down again. He cupped his brother's cheek, staring into those tear-filled eyes before leaning down and kissing him again. This time, it was Ed's turn to be frozen in place.
Al pulled back and looked into his brother's eyes.
"I want it, too. So please, you're not messed up. And even if you are, that means I'm just as messed up as you are."
Al watched as a tear dripped down his brother's face, a wobbly smile making its place known. A pair of shaky hands wrap around his neck, and suddenly, they're both leaning in.
Their lips connect, meshing together as one. It felt so much better than the first two, now with both of them fully sure that the other wants it. Ed gently nibbles on his bottom lip, and he parts them, allowing his brother access.
Almost immediately, Ed's tongue is in his mouth, and he's groaning around it. Ed explored every crevice of his mouth, drinking in all of his gasps. It was clumsy, both with inexperience and Ed being drunk, but Al wouldn't ask for anything more.
Their lips finally disconnected, both panting and shaking slightly.
"See, brother? You're not alone in this. I-I love you too. As more than a brother. So please, let me know when you feel this way again. I want to help."
Al watched as Ed's lip wobbled before Ed's face was buried in his neck again.
"I love you, Al. I love you so much."
"I love you too, brother."
