Project Confession

Summary:

If Espresso had known how chaotic his 3rd year of high school was going to be, he most likely would have dropped out of the cursed thing called school then and there. Unfortunately, Espresso didn’t have any magical gifts of prophecy. On the bright side, chaos isn’t always a bad thing…

*UPDATE: I low key abandoned this fic but am currently re-working it!!! I plan on updating the actual fic once I have a few chapters done!*

Notes:

WOOOOOO my first thing ever on ao3!
I may not update very regularly, I suck at staying on a schedule, but try to bear with me.
Pretty much my friend and I came up with a high school au for Cookie Run and I’m the one to write about it.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Not Your Average Morning

Chapter Text

Cursed.

That’s what it seemed Espresso was.

Not only waking up 15 minutes past his alarm clock, running out of coffee beans he uses to make coffee in the morning, and almost not being able to find his glasses, Espresso now had to deal with waking up his half sister who was in such a deep sleep it was as if she was hibernating.

“LATTE,” he screamed as he tried to shake his sister awake. “Wake up, wake up, wake upppp. You know I’m not allowed to leave for school without you and if you stay asleep much longer we’re going to be late!”

“That doesn’t seem like an issue to me,” Latte said with a yawn as she started to sit up.

“Well maybe don’t be so selfish and think about your dear half brother here,” Espresso said irritatedly. “You know I have to get to school early today.”

“I do?” Latte asked.

Her question only furthers Espresso’s theory that Latte has the memory of an old man. Latte groans as she finally gets out of bed. Maybe she has the bones of an old man too, Espresso wonders.

“Yes, you do,” Espresso says, snapping out of his internal pondering. “I promised Madeleine that I’d help him with his homework.”

“Ooooooooooo” Latte giggled. “You’re helping Madeleine.”

Latte wiggled her eyebrows suggestively when she said the name Madeleine, which caused Espresso’s cheeks to flush.

“Oh shut up and get ready.” Espresso said while walking out of Latte’s room.

He headed for the kitchen, deciding that any coffee is better than no coffee, in search for his more basic coffee beans to brew. When he got to the kitchen he saw his father, Affogato, on his phone. Looking for information on that Dark Cacao guy no doubt, Espresso thought. Oh why oh why did his dad have to be such a stalker sometimes.

“Good Morning, dear,” Affogato said to his son, momentarily glancing up from the most recent cookiegram post of Dark Cacao’s.

“Morning,” Espresso mumbled back.

“That’s no way to address your father,” Affogato remarked. “Try again and do better.”

Espresso laughed at that.

“Make me,” the younger male said in response.

Just as Affogato was about to open his mouth Latte walked into the kitchen, somehow getting dressed and everything in record time. Having the basic understanding on how to read a room, she grabbed her half brother by the arm and began pulling him towards the door.

“Good morning dad,” Latte said while grabbing her and her brother’s backpacks. “We’d love to stay and talk to you for longer but Espresso and I have to get to school early today, hope you understand.”

Latte and Espresso were practically out the door before she could even finish her sentence. They both walked to Latte’s car in the driveway and got in.

“Witches, he can be so annoying,” Latte groaned. “Why did you two look so annoyed at each other back there?”

“I refused to say good morning to him…” Espresso muttered.

“You really got into an argument over something that stupid?” Latte sounded somewhat surprised. “You’re more and more like him everyday.”

“Don’t say that,” Espresso said angrily. “It’s not true”

His remark made Latte laugh.

“I’ll drop the subject for now,” She said. “But you’re literally so much like dad.”

For the rest of the car ride Latte kept chuckling to herself and Espresso continued to have his signature scowl on his face.
