Chapter 1: concerning amount of fangirls
Summary:
oikawa has too many flocking fangirls, and they need to practice
Chapter Text
Concerning amount of fangirls
(seijoh x fem!manager!reader) (mainly the third years)
“You’re seeing this too, right?” Iwaizumi, Makki, and Mattsun all stand behind you in front of the gym, the rest of the team gathering as well. Makki slips a ten into your outstretched hand, cursing, you snickering as you slip it into your pocket. Mattsun chuckles as he props an elbow on your head. Iwaizumi shakes his head, staring at Oikawa and his fangirls blocking the entrance.
“I think we all are, Hajime. Tooru and his fangirls. Well, this should be eventful.” Makki and Mattsun all but push you forward as soon as the words leave your mouth, telling you to deal with them so they could practice. You take Iwaizumi’s arm, pulling him forward as well, as you whip around the glare at the other two third years. The two of you walk forward, your RBF coming into play.
“How long do you think it’ll take for them to notice you’re in front of them?” You shrug, locking eyes with Oikawa, who nearly goes pale at the sight of you. When he really goes pale is the sight of you holding a stick to ward off the fangirls. By the time he looks to your right, he spots Iwaizumi, and a volleyball you had brought along in your car for situations exactly like this. He goes back to fawning over his fangirls, and you and Iwaizumi share a look, a nod, and you part ways.
While Iwaizumi finds his way out of Oikawa's sightline, you take the chaotic route and push your way to Oikawa himself. Pushing and glaring at people with that killer stare of yours really came in handy. The girls were terrified of you. You finally found your way to the captain, the stick still in hand.
“Practice is about to start. We need our captain. Either come in and keep quiet or just leave. We don’t need distractions.” As half of the fangirls already left when they saw you, the other half left, all but whispering, and a few yelling, as they left, you rolling your eyes at the theatrics.
“Aw, c’mon y/n-chan! Are you jealous? Is that it?” You sent a sharp look his way, and a ball hit him in the back of the head. You grinned as you pushed past him, patting him on the back. Makki and Mattsun took their places beside you in place of the captain and Iwaizumi.
“Stop flirting with our manager! She isn’t interested!” Iwaizumi yelled, Makki and Mattsun high-fiving you. Being best friends with the Seijoh four wasn’t always too bad, save for the times Oikawa flirted with you.
“He’s never going to give up is he?” You shake your head with a laugh, tossing your bag to the side as you sit down next to Kyoutani, who gives you a nod. You nod once, and dig through your bag for the snacks you brought for today's practice.
“Apparently not.” Oikawa and Iwaizumi make their way over to you and the rest of the team as you hand out water, arguing.
“It’s time for warm ups. Everyone has their partners?” After you see them all nod and indicate in some way or form that their partners are indeed present, you send them off, stopping by each individual pair, giving out criticism and helping the boys out when needed.
You didn’t see a fangirl sneak in, nor did you hear them. So when you felt someone grab your shoulder with some $5 plastic nails you get at the Dollar Store or whatever cheap place five year olds get nails from, you snapped, and the team froze. You snatched their wrist and fixed them with a glare that could bring them to their knees.
“Don’t touch me.” You hissed, towering over the fool brave enough to try and hurt you. The girl whimpered, trying to reach out to the boys. The Seijoh four came behind you, matching grins on their faces, as the rest of the team gathered around as well.
“What’s your business with our manager, huh?” Kyoutani growled out, and a smile found its way onto your lips as you unlatched your grip from her wrist.
“Leave her alone.” Your four best friends spoke simultaneously, almost menacingly, as the girl stood, cowering at exactly how terrifying the Seijoh team could be. She ran off, and you clapped your hands.
“Right then. That’s enough excitement for one day. Back to work. Shoo, go, go.” You gently nudged your friends, Kyoutani, and the rest of the team as they groaned but listened to you, grabbing the volleyballs and working on recieves. You stayed with the third years, after making sure to tell everyone else to come get you if needed.
“Who knew our little manager could be so mean?” Oikawa teased. You deadpanned.
“Don’t push it pretty boy.”
Chapter 2: on sight
Summary:
manager for inzarizaki snaps after a fan girl goes too far
Chapter Text
(inarizaki x fem!manager!reader)
You had never really been the type to fight someone as soon as you saw them. Excluding Atsumu, you two always had a playful banter going on between the two of you. Ask Suna, he has videos of said banter, much to your and Atsumu’s annoyance.
But when it came to the twin’s fan girls, you had a special place for them.
On your hit list, that is.
It was a normal practice. Well, supposed to be. You arrived late due to an exam that took a little longer than you’d like. The boys were already in the gym. Usually, you opened it up for them and told the fangirls to get lost. Sadly, your stupid exams stopped that from happening. You walked in, already in a bad mood. Aran and Kita noticed, as they always do. So did the fangirls apparently.
“Aww, is little Y/N upset?” Childish. That’s all their insults were. Really, they shouldn’t be in high school with how they act. More insults are thrown your way as you talk with the twins, Aran, Kita, Suna, everyone, really. You ignore them all, but the boys throw worried looks at you, considering how you’ve never had much patience with them. It was only a matter of time before you snapped. The menacing looks were thrown at the fangirls, because nobody insulted their manager and got away with it.
Yeah, that time that you were gonna snap? It arrived faster than you thought.
“You’re only with them for attention.” You weren’t. You knew these boys personally. You all had sleepovers for crying out loud. Atsumu and Osamu were your best friends since diapers. There was no doubt in their minds you were a loyal friend. That little insult? Nothing on them, or the rest of the guys.
One girl in particular, her name was Hinami Kodoka, if you remembered correctly, a girl in a few of your classes, and quite basic, made her way down the bleachers and to you. This wasn’t going to end well. Coach was out today, you’re thankful for that. You were smart enough to never throw the first swing. Was she?
She wasn’t. Smart enough, that is.
She grabbed your shoulder and swung a fist at your face. She missed, obviously. Poor baby doesn’t know how to fight. You gripped her wrist and swung at her. You hit your mark. Right in her nose. She fell to her knees holding her bleeding nose, and you yanked her hair so she could look at you.
“If I were you, I would stop now. Unless you wanna keep going. But that won’t end well for you, sweetie.” You smiled viciously, letting her hair go with a harsh pull. She made one last resort to stand up and charge at you, but you knocked her legs out from under her and carried her over your shoulder, quite literally throwing her out the doors before coming back in and standing in front of the rest of the girls.
“Who’s next?” The girls scrambled to get out, avoiding you like the plague. You chuckled and turned back to the boys. Suna was filming, Atsumu was grinning like a mad-man, Osamu had somehow gotten ahold of your popcorn, Aran and Kita looked both proud and disappointed, and the rest of the boys looked shocked.
Since when did you know how to fight?
And why haven’t you taken down Atsumu at least once?
“Surprise?” You laughed nervously, shrugging and scratching the nape of your neck.
“I knew you were my favorite!” Atsumu ran and hugged you, the rest of the boys laughing and joining you two in a group hug.
“Remind us to never get on your bad side, Miss Manager.” You rolled your eyes with a smile.
“I could never. I love you guys too much.”
“Can I have your candy?”
“Stay away from my bag Tsumu or I swear to god-”
Ah, classic Atsumu.
Chapter 3: suits over dresses
Summary:
manager reader with she/they pronouns (like me :D). reader hates wearing dresses
Chapter Text
(platonic!karasuno x fem!manager!reader)
You looked in the mirror one last time. A nice black suit with nice, comfortable flats, orange accents making appearances in the proper places. You looked great, you really did. You smiled at yourself one last time before grabbing your keys and leaving. What was the occasion? The Karasuno dance! It wasn’t necessarily for a special occasion, it was an idea Yachi came up with, and everyone liked it.
You pulled into the parking lot of the place your family owned that the team and the managers were occupying, a nice little club that you and your friends often went to to have parties if you truly wanted. Kiyoko got out of her car with Yachi in tow, and they smiled when they saw you.
“Y/N, you look amazing! Don’t they look amazing?” Yachi hugged you, taking a peek at your black eyeliner, mascara, and the thin sheen of lip gloss you applied before leaving your house.
“They do look amazing. I’m sure you’ll drag everyone’s attention to you.” Kiyoko teased, and the three of you laughed, walking into the building. As you walked into the main room, everyone looked your way. You waved with a smile on your face, setting your bag with your phone and other necessities inside on a nearby table.
“Hey guys!” Hinata bounded up to you, Kageyama, Tsukishima, and Yamaguchi following.
“Y/N! You look great! Where’d you find the suit? It suits you!” Ah, Hinata, forever an energetic tangerine. You let the pun slide, considering he was excited and this was a night to goof off and have fun.
“Oh! I found it when I went shopping with Kiyoko and Yachi. I hate wearing dresses, so I figured this would be a good substitute.” You rubbed the back of your neck anxiously, a nervous smile appearing.
“Well, it looks great. Doesn’t she look great, Tsukki?” Tsukishima nodded once, about the most acknowledgment your attire would get all night from him. You didn’t particularly mind, though.
“Let’s get this party started!” Daichi yelled from the main part of the club, and you used this as a welcome distraction from all the attention. You made your way to the drink/snacks table your parents set up, grabbing some cider and a cookie or two before allowing Sugawara to pull you into a dance.
“Nishinoya and Tanaka won’t shut up about you, ya know.” His signature charming smile caused a smile to appear on your face, a teasing lilt making its way into your voice.
“Really? That’s shocking, I thought they would’ve paid more attention to Kiyoko than me.” Your jab didn’t go unheard, Nishinoya sticking his tongue out at you while Tanaka shouted across the room, making Daichi yell at him in return. Sugawara laughed at the aftermath.
“You’re ruthless.”
“It’s all in good fun, you know it is. I’m just happy I chose to be a manager instead of something else. You boys are my favorite.”
“Daichi praised you.” Your boy quirked up in curiosity, the corner of your lips following suite in a crooked smile.
“Did he? What’d he say?”
He held up a finger before you and Kiyoko switched partners for a short while, then switched back. You impatiently squeezed his hand, a sign to make him spill whatever secrets he knew that you didn’t.
“He said ‘She works so hard for us. Then again, they are the head manager. It is their job, but she takes it to a whole other level. I’m glad her parents let us use their building.’” You smiled. It wasn’t often you heard the behind the scenes of Daichi and Sugawara hangouts, let alone what was said behind closed doors, no matter how close you five third years were.
“Well, it makes me happy to hear. Thank you for telling me Suga. Though, I hope Daichi won’t get mad.” You looked at the boy in question, who was visiting the food and beverage table himself.
“Don’t worry about it. He wanted you to know. It is about you after all. He isn’t one to say something about someone and expect them not to find out eventually.” You nodded, he was right.
“I suppose you’re right. Don’t tell anyone I said that though.” You teased, and he playfully rolled his eyes.
“Whatever, N/N. C’mon, shall we round everyone everyone up for a picture?” You took his hand in yours, and with a dramatic turn to the front of the room, you told him your answer, which he laughed at.
“We shall.” And so, it took some bribing, peeling, and yelling to get everyone together for a picture without someone getting hurt in the process, but you all managed. Takeda and Ukai appeared at the end to spend a little time with everyone, and Takeda set the camera up.
They put you in the middle, all gesturing enthusiastically (or, in Tsukki’s case, nonchalantly), in your general direction. Lucky you.
Chapter 4: Kiss The Pain Away
Summary:
First year (freshman for me so sorry if i use that term) reader x hinata, light angst
Chapter Text
Prompt: “If I could, I would kiss away all of your scars.”
The weather was fitting for a Monday morning in April. The sky was a gloomy dark grey, rain droplets trickling from the cumulonimbus clouds draped over head. You sighed, looking straight at the busy sidewalk you were currently strolling on, careful to stay out of people’s way so as to not bump into anyone.
“Hey, Y/N!” You whirled around, looking for who called out to you. Your eyes met with Yachi's bright smile on your best friend’s face, greatly contrasting the horrible weather. You smiled back at her, waiting for her to catch up to your side before starting to walk again.
“Yachi, hi! How’ve you been? Has your mom been overworking you?” You asked her, concerned, as you took the bag slung over her shoulder, switching the umbrella you were holding to your other hand to shield her too.
“I’ve been good! Just trying to get some work done at the house. Mom says I should invite you over sometime.” You noticed how she steered away from the second question, but let it slide.
“Yeah, of course! Tomorrow work for you? I’m on my way to Shoyo’s. He texted me, said he needed me and it was urgent.” You shook your head out of confusion.
“Yeah, that works great! Let me know how he’s doing, okay?” You nodded, waving goodbye to her as you knocked on the Hinata residence door, only to be met by Shoyo’s mother and little sister. You smiled warmly, greeting them as they headed out the door. You slipped your shoes off, setting your bag down in your usual place before padding to Shoyo’s room.
“Sho? Sunshine, are you okay?” You heard sheets rustle, and you spotted a Hinata shaped lump on his bed. You frowned slightly.
“Sunshine? What’s wrong, my baby?” After a few minutes of dead silence, you realized he was crying and whimpering. You rushed to the side of the bed, kneeling in front of his face, your expression pained.
“Shoyo, my sweet baby, talk to me. Show me what’s wrong.” You pleaded as he sat up, a sob wracking his body as he did so. You took his hands in one of yours, using the other to wipe his tears away.
“Me and Kageyama got in a fight. It didn’t end well. I split my knuckles. He told me I was useless as a middle blocker. I know he didn’t mean it, but it still hurt my feelings, Y/N.” He dissolved into another fit of tears, burying his face in the crook of your neck.
You felt the hot tears run down your neck as you soothed him until he was through crying.
“Sho, my love. My sunshine. My sweet, sweet baby. You’re an exceptional middle blocker. Don’t let that get to you.” You bandaged his knuckles up with some gauze you dug out of your bag, kissing each knuckle afterwards.
“You’re just saying that.” You almost missed what he whispered, but you could never miss the pain in his voice.
“No, I mean it. You know what?”
“What?”
You looked him straight in the eyes.
“If I could, I would kiss away all of your scars.” You caressed his cheek, smiling.
“What about the pain?”
“I would kiss that away too.”
Chapter 5: team dinner
Summary:
what was supposed to be a day out for the first years ended up being a team bonding experience
Chapter Text
Okay. This wasn’t the plan. Not in the slightest.
It was only supposed to be a night where you treat the first years, since you would be leaving this year and you were extra proud of how far they’ve come.
The night started normally, you picked up Tsukki, Yamaguchi, Hinata, Kageyama and Yachi at their houses, and started going everywhere, treating them to ice cream and bringing them to dinner at a fancy all you can eat sushi place about 20 miles from your place.
See, that was your first mistake. Getting them ice cream, I mean.
~7:45 pm~
You pulled up to Tsukishima’s house, grabbing the dinosaur sweatshirt you bought to bribe him to get into the car. The minute you got out of the car, and knocked on the door, Akiteru opened the door with a grin, mischief in his eyes as he watched you walk in and straight to Tsukishima’s room.
“Yo, french fry! Open up!” You snickered, knowing he had a combination of a scowl and glare on his face. You were right. His face was contorted when he opened the door, an insult on the tip of his tongue. When he saw the sweatshirt, he froze.
“You have five minutes to get me outside and into that car before I change my mind.”
You nod, laughing. “That’s manageable. See ya, Akiteru!” You dragged Tsukki by his arms, groaning about how stubborn he was.
“This is your fault, I wanted to stay home.”
“Well, that’s too bad, ain’t it? Get in the car, dude.” He rolled his eyes, ducking into your car with a string of insults, which you responded with a few of your own.
How you two haven’t killed each other yet, you have no idea.
The ride was quiet as always, however the more kiddos you picked up, the more energetic everyone was. So, you began your journey to the sweets shop your aunt owned, towing five children- sorry, first years, in with you. You hugged and kissed your aunt, shoving Tsukishima when he made one of his infamous comments.
“Whatever blondie. Pick a flavor and go sit down.” He snorted at that, ordering with Yamaguchi and dragging the boy to sit down in a huge corner booth.
Eventually, everyone received their ice cream, and you all sat down and laughed and poked fun at each other. About an hour later, you paid for it all.
“Hey, Y/N?” Yachi grabbed your shoulder, stopping you before you got into the car.
“What’s up, Yachi?”
“Why do you care so much about us? We’re younger than you.”
Her question sent you into shock, your mouth dropping open.
“Just because you’re younger than me doesn’t mean- I care about you because you’re the best juniors I’ve had- don’t tell Tanaka and Nishinoya, they’d start being dramatic- but seriously, I value you guys. You all bring something to the team, yes, even you, and it brings me pride that me, Dai, Suga, Asahi, and Kiyoko are leaving the team to you guys.”
She started tearing up, and you panicked, frantically wiping her tears away.
“Good job, you made her cry.”
“Shut it, Kei.”
“C’mon, let’s get her in the car, Tadashi will take care of her.”
You nodded, gently guiding her into the car, before you and Tsukki got into the driver/passenger seats. During the drive, you both started bickering about the music, while Yamaguchi did his best to console Yachi. Hinata and Kageyama started throwing things at each other, making you slam on your brakes a couple times to yell at them.
It felt like an hour before you reached the restaurant you told them about to treat them to dinner. You jumped on Tsukki’s back, him complaining the entire time, of course, before you all walked into the restaurant.
“Shoyo, Tobio, quit fighting, I’m losing brain cells.”
“Yes ma’am! Wait, hey!”
You and Tsukishima snickered simultaneously. It was too easy. The six of you walked towards a table, taking your seats, ordering your drinks, and chatting about volleyball.
“Y/N, look at the entrance.”
Oh no.
The rest of the team quickly noticed the six of you, quickly coming over, drowning you in hugs and questions. The waiters pulled up chairs and tables for the rest of the guys and Kiyoko, meanwhile you and Tsukishima exchanged whispers.
“You guys are here!” You whipped your head to face Hinata, eyes widening.
“You invited them?”
“It was supposed to be just us six, stupid.”
“Kei.”
“Sorry.”
Hinata explained that he invited them to dinner, ‘cause it didn’t seem fair. Your expression softened, smiling.
“Well, it’s not how I planned, but hey- team dinner!”
Chapter 6: cornered
Summary:
aoba johsai spots their manager getting harassed and swoops in to save her
Chapter Text
This wasn’t exactly your ideal way of being flirted with. Not that you enjoyed being flirted with that much anyways, although it was always a confidence booster.
But being cornered outside the bathrooms in a hallway no one was seemingly worried about? Yeah, no.
‘Get me out of here.’ You thought, internally rolling your eyes but keeping a polite smile on your face as the guy kept pestering you for your number. You felt your right eye twitching in annoyance and your polite facade fading. It was only a matter of time before you officially went berserk.
“C’mon, baby, just give me your number! I’ll make it worth your while.” The devious grin on the boy’s face grew wider, stepping closer to you. You went to take a step back, but your backside collided with the wall. Now you were in trouble.
“As appealing as that sounds, I’ll pass. I have a team to take care of, not cater to needy teenage boys’ needs. Now, if you’ll excuse me-” You were cut off by the boy slamming his hands on either side of your head. You deadpanned at this, unimpressed and certainly not swooning like any other girl who came across this boy.
Sure, he was attractive. Terushima Yuuji was known for his bad boy appeal, what with a tongue piercing and flirty nature. You just found it unattractive. He wasn’t so different from Tooru Oikawa after all, who flirted with you day in and day out.
“You’re not going anywhere, sweetheart. I’m gonna have my way with you.” He chuckled sinisterly. He was starting to get on your nerves. You pushed him away, the polite smile gone, the fake kindness having disappeared two hours ago. You were tired, cold, and wanting to go home. How dare he stop you from getting what you deserved.
“I said, get off me, french fry. You don’t know what no means, do you?” You hissed menacingly, making his eyes widen.
“You heard our lady. Back off.” Mattsun and Makki appeared behind the Johzenji boy, making him whirl around. You felt two hands pulling you back by your shoulders, handing you off to Kyoutani, Kunimi, Kindaichi, and the rest of the boys as Oikawa and Iwaizumi maneuvered their way in front of you, successfully trapping the blond captain in.
“I think we should teach him a lesson.” Kyoutani growled, pulling you backwards into his chest. Kunimi and Kindaichi nodded, the others voicing their agreement.
“Good idea, Mad Dog! Say, boys, shall we teach him what happens when someone makes our pretty manager uncomfortable and upset?” You snapped your gaze to Mattsun and Makki, then to Oikawa and Iwaizumi as your four fellow seniors cornered him.
“Wait.” You commanded, sensing the unease. That may have been the point, but you had a better solution. You shrugged out of Kyoutani’s grip, pushing your way to the tongue-pierced captain. Your voice and face were cold, almost unfeeling. Terushima looked at you with fear, before a much-too-sweet smile graced your lips.
“I think he’s had enough of a lesson. Being cornered and intimidated? That’ll do nicely, boys.” You paused, waiting as the team got behind you, and that sweet sweet smile morphed into a devilish one. “I will say this. Don’t you ever do that to me or any other girl again. I will find you myself. I may look angelic, but that’s all a front.”
You turned, the boys making a space for you to walk through.
“Good luck! You’ll need it. Come boys, let’s go win this thing.”
Chapter 7: not his strong suit
Summary:
kageyama comfort
Chapter Text
He wasn’t good at comforting people. And he knew that, but it was you. So he could at least try, right? With the way you were crying, he could only awkwardly rub your back and sit in silence.
Finally, when he noticed you calmed down a bit more, he held you by your shoulders and asked you what’s wrong.
“My parents yelled at me,” you sniffed, wiping your tears from your face. “They do it all the time, but it doesn’t make it any better.”
You swore his muscles tensed for a second, but as soon as you noticed he relaxed again. It made you wonder if he tensed at all.
Oh, but he did. He was livid at your parents. Why wouldn’t he be? He never liked to see you cry, regardless of if it was your parents or not.
“What happened?”
You shrugged, wiping more tears. “I don’t know. I just got home and I was minding my own business doing the dishes. Then my parents came home and started bitching at me to do more around the house. I wanted to tell them I do a lot, Kags, I really did, but I just got so upset and bit my tongue.”
He looked at you, confusion twisting his face.
“But you work yourself too hard. Can’t your parents see that?”
“Apparently not. I can’t wait until I can move out. They’re my main stressor, did you know that? No wonder I’m always so uptight.”
“Just move out.”
“I can’t do that, Kags. I’m still in school.”
“So? Move in with me, dumbass. My mom loves you. She won’t ask questions.”
You smiled a little, wiping your nose with a tissue. “You mean that?”
“Duh, I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t.”
“Alright, don’t get your panties in a twist.”
He went red, suddenly standing up and causing you to burst into laughter.
“What’s that supposed to mean, dumbass?!”
Chapter 8: the one day
Summary:
the one day work is tough, the boys get in trouble and need you to come down to the gym. or is that really whats happening?
Chapter Text
the one day you took off. the one day you didn't show up for practice because you had work is when the boys decided to be their most chaotic, troublesome selves.
take a day off, they said. itll be fine, they said.
liars.
so when your phone rings, and its ukais number, you know whats coming.
you press accept call and bring it up to your ear, a deadpan face present. you very well know what he's about to say. so you say it for him.
"let me guess, coach. hinata, kageyama, nishinoya, and tanaka. I'm assuming kiyoko and yachi couldn't help the situation?" considering youre the one a good majority of them actually listens to, you understand why he's calling you.
but why, on all days, would it be the day you work a double shift?
"yeah. I'm sorry y/n, I know its a long work day-" you cut him off, sighing as you motion to your boss and co-workers, heading out your workplace almost irritatingly slow with how many customers there were.
"its fine coach. im on my way. however if they do break anything, tell them I will come for them. that goes for anybody." you end the call and finally make it to your car, a small scowl appearing as you realize you put your keys in your purse. your purse was in the trunk. the trunk was locked. and your trunk never opened on the first two tries.
today was not your day, was it?
with a great, heaving sigh, you push yourself out your car, and head to your trunk, popping it open after three tries, and grabbing your purse before getting back in the driver's seat, and finally driving towards the gym.
the drive there wasn't all that eventful, you thank your life for that.
its the chaos ensuing in the clubroom that makes you wish you took an advil beforehand. and another three now.
hinata was, somehow, stuck in the net, kageyama under him trying to get him untangled. nishinoya was balancing on tanakas shoulders while tanaka himself was balancing on a sideways bench. how in the world-
tsukishima was, of course, making snide comments about the four of them, explaining the yelling. yamaguchi was laughing hysterically. where were the other teammates-
ah yes. daichi looked angry. of course, who wouldn't be? suga was trying desperately to calm him down, but to no avail. the girls were in the cleaning supplies room, as you saw kiyokos head peak out, turn to, who was probably yachi and whoever else wasn't on the court, before smiling apologetically at you.
you sighed, grabbing a volleyball, and, very angrily, spiking it on the ground. that got everyone's attention real quick.
"boys." you meant business.
"hi y/n!" hinatas enthusiasm never failed to at least make your day a little better, even if it was them you were upset at.
"the one day im not at practice, you decide to wreak havoc. why." the way nishinoya is smiling disturbs you just a tad.
"we missed you!" and thats when you noticed how sweaty they are. oh no. no no no.
"GIVE US A HUG!" nishinoya, tanaka, and hinata shout, wicked grins on their faces, as you screech, running to the supply closet, when you realize its locked.
"traitors!" you scream, as you're engulfed in a wave of sweaty volleyball boys.
the one day you ask off work decides to be the day you get tricked. how lucky for you.
Chapter 9: unbelievable
Summary:
jealous karasuno boys with your brother
Chapter Text
you knew it was a bad idea to invite your brother to watch one of karasunos games. one, he wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, considering he not only came thirty minutes late, but he was also wearing the wrong colors. and sat on the wrong side. which he realized after the first two sets.
what were you gonna do with him?
finally, the match was over, the boys having won by a landslide, and you couldn't be happier. you almost forgot your brother was here.
key word: almost.
"Y/NNNN!" your golden retriever of a brother practically tackled you in a hug, laughing and giggling quite childishly.
"hi kaito." you smiled, missing the multiple looks the boys gave him. but he didn't. poor kid.
get ready for your protective boys.
tanaka and nishinoya sling an arm over your shoulders, forced smiles on their faces, and you look at them incredulously.
"hey there buddy! whats going on with you and our pretty manager here?" tanaka gets much too close to your brothers face, and you internally cringe.
"yeah! this is our manager! get your own!" nishinoyas words almost make you crack up. not only were you his sister, you practically were his manager as well, considering he was in sports too.
daichi and sugawara pull them back, only to step in front of you. you roll your eyes. what was the point of that if-
"they do realize hes your brother right?" tsukishimas voice in your ear cuts your thoughts off, as he and yamaguchi stay nonchalantly at your sides, having met your brother before at your house for a study session.
"apparently not. then again, we don't really look alike. can't blame them. am I really that important?" you playfully gasped, faking wiping tears from your eyes to tease them. tsukishima rolled his eyes, but rest his arm on your head nonetheless. one of his many telltale signs he did care.
yamaguchi snickered, opting to rest his arm on your shoulder to make you feel better. "are you kidding?" he leans to whisper in your ear, enjoying watching coach ukai, kiyoko and yachi trying to pry the boys from your brother. "you could be twins!"
"yeah. you have the same dumb expression and everything." tsukishima chimes in, and its your turn to roll your eyes, elbowing the dinosaur in the hip. now to just somehow get tanaka and nishinoya off your brother without dragging yourself into it. ah, you knew a trick.
you let out a shrill whistle, and everybody freezes. even coach looks stunned.
"hey, you dorks, get off him!" you help your brother up and look for any injuries.
"you okay, kai?" your brother nods and says 'mom is waiting for me, see you at home' and leaves. you sigh, squeezing his hand before he departs, and slowly turn towards the boys as tsukishima and yamaguchi take their usual places beside you.
"that was my brother, you heathens!" faces light up with confusion, then realization, then guilt.
"we're sorry y/n." daichi mutters, looking down as the rest of the team follow suite. you smile softly.
"its okay. cmon, let's go to my house for a celebration party yeah? no wrecking my house, and no wrecking my brother either!" you turn to hinata. "and no stealing any of my animals."
goodness gracious, not only did you have a brother to look out for, but now a bunch of chaotic crows as well. unbelievable.
oh well, you wouldn't trade any of them for the world.
Chapter 10: our manager, their captain
Summary:
you are the captain of your own volleyball team, but it overlaps with karasuno's practice.
Chapter Text
You were so, so late. The boys would definitely question where you've been, and you didn't wanna tell them about the professional team you were the captain of just yet. That came with consequences. Their practice started a good 15 minutes ago, and you were 30 minutes away. Oh my, you sure screwed yourself over.
An incoming call lit up the screen of your phone as you hurriedly shouted a goodbye and a practice time for next week to your team, racing out to your car. You looked and saw that it was Kiyoko, not Ukai, and sighed in relief as you hopped in your car, pressing accept call as it auto-connected to Bluetooth.
“Hello? Kiyoko? I’m so sorry-” She cut you off with a small laugh.
“You know, you really should keep up with the time, Y/N. The boys almost tracked you, and we both know how bad that would be, hm?” You dead-panned as she took the opportunity to tease you. She was the only one that knew, other than Takeda.
“Hilarious, Kiyoko. Very original. I’m almost there. How are the boys holding up?” That’s the part that got you nervous. If the boys were left to their own devices, then they would surely come and find you themselves.
“They’re fine, Yachi, Takeda and I are distracting them. Don’t worry about it, N/N, we have you covered.” For all her faults, okay, she has none, but for all the times she teases you, she really was your best friend. You breathed a sigh of relief, driving into the parking lot and sprinting to the gym.
It seems you forgot to change out of your uniform. How unfortunate for you.
“Y/N! I didn’t know you were a fan of them! You look so much like their captain!”
“That’s because she is their captain, idiot.” You could always count on Tsukishima to put everything bluntly. Hinata, the boy who spoke first, started yelling at the tall blonde, which triggered Kageyama. Kiyoko tossed you your clothes and motioned for you to book it to change. You did as she said, only cause you knew if you got caught up in the usual mess, it would surely be more of a mess for you.
“Hold it!” Daichi yelled as Sugawara caught you around the waist. Oh no. Well it was gonna come down to this anyways. One day Kiyoko wouldn’t be able to hold them off and they would’ve found out. But not like this.
You turned around in Suga’s grip, a nervous smile gracing your face. “Surprise?” Very original. You saw Kiyoko snicker and shake her head. You shot her a half-hearted glare. Hinata, Nishinoya, Tanaka, and Kageyama walked up to you, semi-sad expressions making your heart break.
What have you done?
“We’re not mad, you know.” Sugawara smiled at you. “We just wish you would’ve told us instead of hiding it.” Your expression softened, looking around at the boys.
“I’m sorry guys. I guess I didn’t want you to think-” Daichi cut you off, an incredulous look crossing his features. He took your left, while Suga occupied the right.
“Didn’t want us to think what? That you were too busy for us? Y/N, we understand. You’re the captain, right?” You nodded. “Then you have to be there for your team. You do a great job of it. It’s obvious in the way you play and keep your team going. We have two other very capable managers, after all. It’s no big deal if you need to miss.” You sighed.
“But I want to do the same for you! I want to be as ‘good’ of a manager as I am captain. I want to be at every practice, Daichi.” The team gathered around you, including Yachi, Kiyoko, Ukai, and Takeda. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi replaced Daichi and Sugawara.
“You work too hard, stupid.” You glare at Tsukishima before he lightly smacks the nape of your neck. “You didn’t let me finish. You work too hard. You’re a full time captain and manager. You can’t be both places at once, you know.”
“Tsukki’s right. We have Kiyoko and Yachi, Y/N. As much as we love having you here, all of us, you have your own team to take care of. (Your team) is always counting on you.” Yamaguchi smiles at you. You smile at him and the rest of the crowd.
“Thanks, guys. I love you.” Tsukishima weasels himself out of your grip as the rest of the team surrounds you in a group hug. A small smile slips onto his face at the sight of the group hug.
“Hey, we should go watch a match of yours! Or a practice! Or both!” Nishinoya yells, and you groan.
“Fine. But no flirting with my girls, you two.”
“Dang it!”
Chapter 11: one eventful car ride
Summary:
you take tsukki and yams to their practice game, and you wish you left tsukki back home
Chapter Text
“You want me to what now?” Tsukishima and Yamaguchi stand at your door, their uniforms on, all dressed and ready to go. You forgot they had a practice match today. Your parents walked up behind you, waving to the boys. They waved back, small, sleepy smiles adorning their faces.
"We need you to drive us to Nekoma for the practice match. C’mon, we don't have all day, stupid." You roll your eyes, motioning them to come in so you can get dressed, grab what you need, and leave. They made a quick stop for the kitchen as always, grabbing their favorite snacks and drinks you kept stocked in your portion of the fridge and pantry. You spoil them too much.
"Why at 6 am?" It's Tsukishima's turn to roll his eyes, Yamaguchi snickering as you grab your clothes and head into your bathroom, the boys taking a seat on your bed as you do. It was only a matter of time before one of them got up to raid your snack stash, and by the loud thunk you heard it was probably Tsukishima. He was too tall for your ceiling fan not to hit him, that and the series of words he let out that you knew Yamaguchi wouldn’t dream of saying.
"It's the set time, y/n." You toss your toothpaste at the door, as if to tell him to shut it, and to get out of your stash. You heard Yamaguchi's gremlin laugh (i'm sorry i had to) when the rustling of bags started, so you opened the door and threw the toothpaste at his back.
“Stop raiding my snacks! I spent like $20 dollars on yours, get your own, Kei! Let me get my shoes and keys. Get in the car.”
“Yes mother.” You rolled your eyes as you pulled on your tennis shoes, grabbing your keys off the key rack as you kissed your parents goodbye. you playfully shove Tsukishima out the door, teasing him just a bit because you could. How far was Nekoma from Karasuno again?
“Thirty minutes, dingaling.” Did you say that out loud? Must have. Oh well. Tsukishima got in the front seat, Yamaguchi stuck in the back, as always. You always left him something to do back there in case it was a quiet ride, which was more often than the sarcastic war rides that happened at least once every week. Which never happened this week. And Tsukki was never in a good mood at 6 am on a Monday morning. Neither were you, but nobody else really was either.
“All right tall dude, what's the rant topic for today?” He slapped you in the back of the head for that one. The norm. It was probably going to be him complaining about seeing Kuroo again. Not to mention the relentless teasing from both you and the Nekoma captain.
“Kuroo. He’s gonna be there.” Yamaguchi chimed in, and you both snuck a high-five. Five. Four. Three. Two. One..
“Do I have to go? Stop the car.” You gave him a side-glare, locking the windows. Precautions.
“Kei. You’re not getting out of this car. You have to go to the match. Kuroo’s not bad! Plus he’s the captain. He kinda has to be there stupid.” You slammed on your brakes as someone pulled out in front of you, honking the horn and yelling a few choice words out the window before turning back to the blond as he spoke.
“Thanks Captain Obvious. I know he’s the captain, I’m not stupid.” Debatable. He turned to look out the window, and you mocked him, turning up the radio as you pulled into the turning lane. 10 minutes to go. Yamaguchi had gone down for a short nap as you all hit the 15 minute mark, saying he was tired and not to swing him everywhere. You almost did, but remembered he gave you meat buns yesterday because of a spike to the face and decided against it.
A good five minutes passed before Tsukishima reached over to try to change the music. You slapped his hand away, looking at him as if he kicked a puppy.
“Uhm, no way!” You whisper-shouted, making sure not to wake Yamaguchi. Tsukki gave you a glare to match the look on your face.
“What, so you have a rule on music now? Since when? Are you trying to torture me?” Okay, really? That was uncalled for. He’s acting more like a brother by the minute.
“I’ve always had this rule! Driver picks the music, shotgun shuts his cakehole. Has been for three years Kei.”
“You did not just quote Supernatural.”
“And so what if I did? You don’t watch it anyway.”
“Whatever.” He got out of the car, as you had arrived as you were arguing. You woke up Yamaguchi gently, and he clung onto you while you three made your way to the gym.
“Hey! Tsukishima! Y/N!” Kuroo yelled from the doorway, and as you finally walked in, he hugged you and Yamaguchi. You handed the freckled boy off to Sugawara as you helped Ukai and Takeda set up. You heard Tsukishima and Kuroo talking, and Tsukki not being salty for once.
“How come you’re not throwing comments, dude?”
“It was a sarcastic ride today.”
“A what?”
“Nevermind.”
Remind you to never bring Tsukishima anywhere on a Monday morning. Ever.
Chapter 12: in the end, youre still my boys
Summary:
karasuno reverse comfort, oikawa is a jerk
Chapter Text
they weren't their best today.
you could tell as soon as you walked through the doors, and saw their discouraged faces. you quickly looked to the scores as you made your way to takeda, ukai, kiyoko and yachi. discouraged as well.
you felt as soon as you walked through the doors during the third set, the energy wasn't right. something went wrong. dinner with your parents ran later than usual, and it seems it cost them.
"no." it was nothing more than a whisper, as you saw oikawa serve the last serve. and they missed. before you knew it, the game was over. seijoh won. and your boys lost.
you pulled kiyoko and yachi into a hug, letting yachi cry into your shoulder. kiyoko held your hand in a vice grip. this can't be true. they didn't lose.
but they did.
you looked across the court. and guess who was looking back at you with a wicked smirk on his face, his fingers in the shape of an L on his forehead?
oikawa tooru.
oh, how you would destroy him. for now, you would take care of your boys.
karma goes to those who think selfishly.
the crows dejectedly walked towards the bench, tears running down their faces. the girls let go of you as you stood up, and hugged daichi.
this has got to hurt him.
"its okay. I believe in you." you redirected the words he told you when you were injured, and couldn't help the boys practice. when you had a rough day and everything finally got too heavy, and you burst into tears at one practice. and that took a hit on him as well.
"lets go to the gym, yeah? we can stay there for a bit. all of us." everyone nodded. you took the third years, tsukishima and yamaguchi in your car. it was silent the entire ride there.
once you got there, you hugged sugawara and yamaguchi to your sides, rubbing their backs and giving them encouraging smiles. it didn’t work.
once you all got into the gym, you assured ukai and takeda that you would make sure everyone got home safe and bade them goodnight. kiyoko and yachi stayed behind, as they were going home with you.
the boys lined up, their heads hanging. "we're sorry, y/n." you looked at them as if they had grown two heads.
"why are you sorry? you did your best boys. I'm proud of you. listen to me."
they all looked up simultaneously, tears still glistening in their eyes, but they all but jumped at you when they realized what in the world you were smiling like a maniac about.
their own volleyballs. the teams colors, their names, their numbers, all embedded into the ball in your handwriting. they were beautiful.
"you, you did this?" asahi walked forward, grabbing his from the rack kiyoko and yachi pushed out beside you. you nodded, grinning widely.
"took me a week. it was hard to get all the details right. take them, they're yours!" all the boys rushed forward to find their respected ball, all talking excitedly and happy. that was your goal after all. daichi walked up to you, smiling.
"i can't believe you worked so hard on these. they're amazing. thank you y/n." the boys all pulled you into a group hug, kiyoko and yachi joining in.
"alright alright, I love you guys but seriously you need to rest!" you laughed, pushing them off you and out the door. "rest! don't stay up all night hinata!" a loud groan came from the boy.
you waved to yamaguchi as he left, noticing tsukishima wasn't with him. huh. weird.
"hey, kiyoko, yachi, head to my car. I'll lock up." the two nodded and walked to your car, as you three yelled one last goodbye to the boys. you turned back into the gym, and noticed someone in your work area. tsukishima.
"hey, kei, what are you doing here still? won't your brother be worried?" you walked to him, and heard sniffles. he was crying. "kei-"
"why? why couldn't we win?" he looked at you as his glasses fogged up. you took them off and cleaned them, before wiping his tears away.
"kei. you had one bad day. you've had so many good days. so many wins. losing is apart of that journey. win or lose, i don't care. in the end, youre still my boys." he glared at you half-heartedly.
"i hate that you're always right."
"im older, im supposed to be." you teased, leading him to the door. "cmon, get home, go rest, we have practice tomorrow." he rolled his eyes, a small smile on his face.
"youre horrible." you grinned at that.
"ill just tell the team the great tsukishima kei cried and wasn't salty for once."
"i take it back." you laughed, hugged him, and pushed him out the door. "go home! love you, rest you tall french fry!" he waved you off.
"i don't hate you!" eh. close enough. you locked up, and made your way to the car, where the girls waited for you.
"ready for a sleepover?" you asked as you started up the car. kiyoko nodded.
"yeah!" yachi shouted, and at that, you all drove off to your house, passing kageyama and hinata, honking at them and scaring them both.
"y/n!"
maybe losing wasn't so bad after all.
you still were gonna beat oikawa's ass, though.
