Chapter Text
Scott sighed as he looked out the window of the coffee shop he was working at. It had been a long day so far and he was kind of just done for the day. Honestly Scott was still getting used to civilian life.
In this world, in this reality many people had super abilities, were a hybrid and/or magic. Scott had ice magic, he was also an elf. There were multiple different kinds of people in this world.
There were superheros, heros, civilians, vigilante’s, criminals, villains, and super villains. Scott had been a super hero but now, he was just a civilian. Scott hadn’t originally wanted to become a civilian but he had too.. he had ended up being severely wounded by a supervillain and it was determined he would never be able to fight again. He would honestly do anything to go back to that life, he had multiple friends that yes, he could still talk to but he couldn’t train with them, he couldn’t fight villains with them. He couldn’t do what he loved anymore. And so he was now stuck in an endless cycle of boredom.
Stuck working in a tiny coffee shop at the edge of town. Though it wasn’t that bad, like the fact that Scott got a cute apron. The apron was green and had small flowers.
The name of the coffee shop was written on the apron as well, the shop being called “The Grove”. The small coffee shop was also in one of the more populated districts, the House Blossom District. But it was fine since that means Scott would mean that not many people would notice it.
Plus it was fairly close to Rivendell, the district that Scott lived in. Scott had lived in Rivendell for his whole life, like most elves. Scott sighed again, standing up properly as he stopped leaning down on his counter. “You good Scott?” he heard a voice said. Turning his head to the right he saw his manager and former teammate, Katherine or Rowden. Rowden actually means overgrown.
“Yeah I’m fine just kind of bored” Scott huffed out. Now that he thought about it Rowden is the perfect name for Katherine since she did get her powers from the Overgrown. The Overgrown was a source of magic that gave beings such as fairies magic.
Katherine was pretty average looking. She had long brown hair that went to about her waist that was threaded with flowers and vines she also had brown eyes. Today she wore a white poets blouse, a purple floral skirt, black flats, and one of the shops aprons.
Katherine was also a fairy, she had long purple, pink, and green dragon fly like wings along with dark purple antennas. Since Katherine was a fairy she got her magic from the Overgrown, her magic was nature magic. She had the ability to make vines and flowers grown from thin air, she could even speak to plants. Shaking his head to get back to reality he heard Katherine say “Well you won’t be bored for long”. Looking up he saw one of his best friends, Lizzie who was also a a hero named the Ocean Queen. “Scott! I’m so happy your here!” Lizzie said.
“I literally work here” Scott said, rolling his eyes. Lizzie was dressed up in her hero costume. It was a purple sleeveless dress, she had bright pink hair that was put up in two buns, some of her hair was left free in the back and front though. She was also an extremely tall axolotl hybrid and had blue eyes. She had water powers, she was able to speak to fish, was able to control water, and was even able to conjure thunderstorms. “So what did you want today Ocean Queen?” Scott asked.
“Hmm can I have an iced coffee and a cold brew coffee” Lizzie replied. As Scott began to work on the coffee he asked, “So who are you getting the other coffee for?” Scott asked. “Its for another hero, he’s..” Lizzie replied before leaning over the counter and whispering “My brother”.
Stopping making the coffee he looked up and gave her a questioning look. “Don’t worry! You’ll get to meet him soon!” Lizzie said with a grin. Simply nodding in acknowledgment he finished making the coffees, adding a lid on both of them.
“Oh can I also get a four chocolate muffins? I want to make sure everyone on my team eats something” Lizzie said. Nodding in response Scott grabbed the muffins and put them in a paper bag before setting the coffee into a cup tray and handing the items to Lizzie. “Thanks Scott! See you soon” Lizzie said, paying for the food and coffee and then leaving. Whipping his hands off his apron Scott put the dollar bills into the cash register. Scott sighed again as he looked out the window again, watching the people walk by and waiting to serve another customer.

Scott looked into the mirror as he fixed his hair before he left the cafe. He had changed out of his work clothes which were a black t-shirt, black pants, a cafe apron, and pride converse. He was now wearing a blue sweater with clouds on it, the same black pants, and the same converse.
Taking a better look at himself Scott looked at his damaged wings, they were probably permanently damaged. There were also some glints of gold peeking through his hair from his antlers that had been cut off. Scott also had eye bags under his eyes from the long nights he spent awake.
Sighing Scott grabbed his messenger bag, walked out of the bathroom, and then waving goodbye to Katherine and exited via the back door. Almost as soon as he exited the back door he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. Taking it out he saw a message from Lizzie:
‘ Lizzie: Hey do you want to hang out today? Pix and Joel are coming as well. And you can meet my brother! :) ’
Scott quickly responded with:
‘ Scott: Sure, it might take me a while to get to your house but I should be there within one or two hours ’
Once Scott put his phone back in his pocket he headed to a bus station to get a ride to the Ocean District.

Scott saw looked up from his phone once he heard the bus driver say that they were at the Ocean District. Getting out of the bus he looked around. The Ocean District was a district by at the edge of the beach and partially by the water. There were apartments, beach houses, shops, and tourist attractions all around the district. There were few people that lived in the district year around, Lizzie being one of the few. The district was also partially underwater which was perfect for those who couldn’t live above water.
Coming back to reality Scott realized that in the time that he had been thinking that he had arrived at Lizzie’s house. Knocking on the door he hard some scrambling from behind the door. After a few seconds the door open slightly and Lizzie’s head popped out. “Come on in, you don’t want to get bit by any misquotes” Lizzie said with a grin. Muttering an agreement Scott walked into the, now, fully open door. Lizzie was now changed out of her hero costume and was in a now more human form, her skin a palish human tone and was wearing a blue anime sailor girl shirt and skirt.
As Scott walked in he noticed three people playing some Mario Kart. One was Pixell or Pix, he was in his civilian clothes, he had short brown hair, a black jacket and gray jeans. There was also Joel who was also in his civilian clothes, he had brown hair, a green sweater, and cargo shorts on.
There was also a new person that Scott had never seen before. The guy had dirty blonde hair, a black mask, a white shirt, light blue jean jacket that was rolled up to his shoulders, and jeans. Scott heard the door behind him shut and Lizzie place a hand on his shoulder.
“So I know that you already know Joel and Pix but the blonde haired guy is my brother, anyways I’m going to finish cooking” Lizzie said, stepping away and into the kitchen. Taking off his messenger bag he set it down next to the couch and then flopped down. The living room was pretty small, it had two couches, one he was sitting on the other to the right. It also had two bean bags that were near sat near the TV. Joel and Pix were sitting down in the bean bags and Lizzie’s brother was sitting next to him at a couch. After a few minutes the game ended, Pix winning it.
Joel let out a groan of annoyance causing Scott to chuckle slightly. Turning around in surprise Joel said, “Oh my gosh Scott. You scared me!”. Grinning Scott simply said “Your just horrible at keeping your guard up”. Rolling his eyes Joel got up “Well you already know Pix but that guy”, he said pointing to the blonde haired guy, “is the CodFather”.
Nodding in acknowledgment Scott turned to Solidarity and said, “I’m Scott, I’m the hero formerly known as Aster”. “As Joel said, I’m the CodFather, I’m a became a hero a bit after you retired” the CodFather said.
“I heard, I wasn’t able to come to the ceremony welcoming you as a hero since I was still recovering from my injuries but I heard it was lovely” Scott said with a sad smile. “Its was, th-“ the CodFather said, getting interrupted by Lizzie yelling “Suppers ready!”. Quickly Joel and the CodFather got up, scrambling to beat each other. Their antics caused a small laugh to bubble from Scott’s chest and his sad smile became a warm smile. Getting up Scott began a small conversation with Pix as they walked into the kitchen. The CodFather was nowhere to be seen but they began dinner.

Scott locked the door to his apartment as he yelled out to his roommate Jack, “I’m back!”. Hearing a yell of acknowledgment back he immediately went to i his room and flopped onto his bed, falling asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow.
