If I had a diamond heart, I'd give you all my love

Summary:

Nagi, forgetting to check the time, gets home late for dinner (again). Everyone knows that he's late because he was busy buying Magical Kokona merchandise; that's a given. But this time, it seems as if Nagi was late because he was buying something else instead?

Notes:

It’s 3 am as I’m posting this. I am in such a huge Nagimitsu brainrot that I wrote this within 2 (and a half? Maybe 3) hours with zero checking so there’s definitely a million errors, just look past them and pretend that this fic is coherent and makes sense pls and thank u

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Geez… it’s already this late… where in the world is Nagi!?”

Staring at the clock on the wall, Mitsuki let out a frustrated sigh. Everyone else at the dinner table stared at the clock on the wall as well.

The clock indicated that it was currently 8:30 pm. They were supposed to have dinner together at 7 pm, but Nagi was nowhere to be found. Thus, they decided to wait for Nagi so that they can have dinner together, but it’s been an hour and a half and yet, still no Nagi.

At 8:40 pm, the door to the living room finally swings open, revealing Nagi with multiple shopping bags in both hands. Needless to say, everyone already knew that he was going to return to the dorms with more Magical Kokona merchandise; however, no one expected him to return with at least 10 bags of them.

Putting all his shopping bags in the living room, he takes off his coat and makes his way to the dining table.

“Sorry~ I was looking at Kokona merch and forgot to check the time~” Nagi said as he took a seat, but everyone else at the dinner table knew that he definitely checked the time and simply chose to ignore it in favor of looking at Kokona. Not that they’d ever tell him that they knew.

“Nagicchi, did you buy any ousama pudding on the way home?” Tamaki questioned upon seeing Nagi’s overabundance of shopping bags, hoping that there would be pudding in at least one of them.

“Tamaki-kun, eating pudding before dinner will make you feel stuffed.” Sogo chimed in with a gentle reminder to Tamaki.

“Eh~ But what about pudding during dinner? That sounds tasty.”

“Yotsuba-san, please save your pudding cravings for after dinner.” Iori chimed in as well, taking Sogo’s side.

“Pudding during dinner does sound tasty though…! I wonder what pudding with rice would taste like!” Riku joined in on the pudding discussion as well, taking Tamaki’s side.

“See!? Rikkun and I both agree, so we should have pudding with dinner sometime.” Tamaki smugly proclaims.

“Nanase-san, Yotsuba-san. One more mention of pudding during dinner and I will confiscate all snacks in the pantry until you both learn to adopt healthy eating habits.”

“EH!?”

“Now, now, Iori-kun. No need to be so harsh on them…”

“Feel free to hand the snacks over to me if you confiscate them Ichi, I’ll make sure to eat them all so that they’ll be able to focus on eating healthy.” Yamato teases Riku and Tamaki with a grin.

“Yama-san, not cool!!!”
“Yamato-san!!!”

“Alright, settle down guys.” Mitsuki sighs as he picks up his spoon. “The food will become cold if you guys keep arguing like this.”

“OH! Thanks for the m-”

“However!” Mitsuki interjects before Nagi could finish his sentence. “If you’re late for dinner one more time, I won’t be cooking for you anymore, Nagi!”

“Oh… but I was buying-”

“No buts! Come home during dinner time or else!” Although Mitsuki was reprimanding him, a hint of concern could be heard within his voice. It was clear to Nagi that Mitsuki was worried about his safety and didn’t want anything to happen to him.

Nagi gives him a warm smile.

“Okay. I will.”

Hearing this, Mitsuki flashes Nagi a wide grin.

“Alright then! Let’s dig in, everyone!”

“Thanks for the meal!”

Lazing around in bed after dinner, Mitsuki stares at the ceiling wondering what he should do to kill time. “Maybe I could get ready for tomorrow’s job…?”

As he was getting lost in his thoughts, a knock on his door made him come back to his senses. He sat up straight, wondering who it could be as he doesn’t recall ever telling anyone to come over.

Upon unlocking the door, he was surprised to find Nagi standing there, a tiny bag within his hand.

“Hi Mitsuki~” Nagi greets Mitsuki with a bright smile.
“Nagi? What brings you here?” Mitsuki asked with a puzzled expression.

“I have something for you!” Nagi strides into Misuki’s room as Mitsuki closes the door behind him.

“Huh? Something for me?”
“Yes! The line to get it was so long, I was late to dinner…” Nagi pretends to look dejected.

Mitsuki, suddenly realizing why Nagi was late to dinner, teared up a bit upon knowing that Nagi was late because he was getting a gift for him.

“Nagi… You should’ve told me…”

With a sincere smile, Nagi turns to face Mitsuki.

“Oh! But that would ruin the surprise, wouldn’t it?”
“...you dumbass.” Mitsuki playfully punches Nagi with a smile as he sniffles.

Holding the tiny bag within his hands, Nagi begins to take out the gift within it.

“Close your eyes and turn around, Mitsuki.”
“...okay.” Mitsuki says with a gentle nod as he turns around and closes his eyes.

Mitsuki felt Nagi’s hands on his neck, followed by the texture of cool metal around his neck. He could already guess what Nagi had gotten for him.

“Okay, open your eyes.”

As Mitsuki turned back around to face Nagi and opened his eyes, he looked down at his neck to find a necklace in the shape of a flat symbol; Mitsuki’s symbol. In the middle of the necklace was a bright orange gemstone that seemed to glisten brilliantly under the light, reflecting within it the beauty of both Mitsuki and Nagi.

As Mitsuki was staring at the necklace in awe, Nagi took the chance to speak up.

“I hope you like it, Mitsuki.” He gives Mitsuki an affectionate gaze.
“...I do… I really do… Thank you Nagi… you’re the best in the world…!” Mitsuki replied with tears in his eyes as he hugged Nagi, overjoyed that Nagi would go out of his way to get him a gift.

“Then I’m glad that you like it.” Nagi chuckled. “It was hard to get it as well… The line for it was so long because they said the gemstone is the second most precious gem in the world!”

Mitsuki, with tears in his eyes still, looks at Nagi as he giggles.

“What’s the most precious gem in the world, then?”

After a small beat of silence, Nagi looks at Mitsuki as he leans in to kiss him on the forehead affectionately, making him flustered in the process.

Nagi smiles at him.

“You, Mitsuki.”
