Chapter Text
“I know that you still like her! You’re seeing her behind my back aren’t you?”
“There’s nothing wrong with being friends with your ex Riven.”
The couple had just come back from a small gathering with their friends. Helia knew about Riven’s anger and jealousy, he should’ve known that Riven couldn’t control it. While catching up with Flora at the gathering, her face had expressed some anxiety and discomfort, her eyes looking away sometimes while they were talking. At first Helia didn’t noticed those signals, but slowly saw them. He turned his head to see a set violet eyes, full of bitterness and irritation from afar.
Both Helia and Flora had set their boundaries after their relationship, understanding that they would just be friends. Both had moved on too, with Flora seeing Mirta and Helia ending up with Riven, however, with new relationships comes with new difficulties.
“You’re only saying that to cover it up!”, Riven accused while walking behind him. Helia was trying to find the key to their apartment, his fingers started to fumble as the accusations started to fill his up head. Finally finding it and unlocking in to their apartment, he sighed knowing that their childish argument wouldn’t be heard from the neighbors anymore… probably.
Those few cups of alcohol weren’t helping either, both had fainted pink cheeks but one of them became unrealistic.
“Come on, admit it. You’re being quiet because you know I’m right!"
“Maybe I’m quiet because I know you’re wrong.”
Helia had mumbled it while having his back face Riven, but not too soft enough for Riven to not hear it. Pissed off stomps came closer and closer, with the smell of whiskey becoming stronger and stronger. He could sense an intense glare behind him.
“You think you’re clever don’t you?”
No answer was given, Helia couldn’t think of one. The silence had made it worse.
“I know what you’re thinking. You think I’m an idiot.”
“Riven-“
“That I’m someone who doesn’t deserve to be here. That I won’t be the best at what I do!”
Long black hair hid a look of sad concern.
“Look at me.”
Helia turned around. Now he was looking at the same violet eyes, filled with more irritation and bitterness. Familiar magenta eyebrows had creased downwards towards each other. The same smell of whiskey reeked his nostrils.
“Why don’t you do what everyone else does? Leave me. You know I’m a burden. You know that nobody wants me here.”
“If I knew those things…then why would I be with you?”
Suddenly, Riven’s rage stopped for a moment.
“I wouldn’t be here right now if what you said were true.”, Helia creeped a hand to Riven’s left cheek. He could see his face loosing the unneeded anger within him. His eyebrows started to crease upwards towards each other. Violet eyes looked down where Helia’s hand was, almost considering to calm down.
However, those eyes quickly looked away, and his eyebrows returned to their irritated state. Something had changed his mind. He pushed Helia’s hand away from him, but had a grip onto his wrist. The sudden action created anxiety within Helia, almost scaring him.
“I know what you’re trying to do. You’re doing what she did. I’m not falling for it.”
“Who-“
A squeezing pain caused Helia to pause on his question, Riven’s grip was tightening his wrist hard.
“You’re trying to weaken me. You’re finding my weak spot to take advantage of it aren’t you?
“I’m not-“
The wrist pain grew even more, as Riven started to shrink the gap between them. Helia tried to pull away at first, but he didn’t even move away by an inch.
“I was right, you were doing something.”
Riven inched closer by each second, gripping Helia’s wrist with every sentence.
“You’re doing this to see Flora. You were going to use my weakness as a way to make me plead for you when you threaten to leave me, weren’t you? I knew i-”
Riven received a sudden harsh push. A second ago he was standing, his back was on the floor currently, forcing him to look up and see an unfamiliar look. Blue, concerned eyes were filled with fear. A shocked face looked down at what it did, while a hand was softly rubbing a wrist. Riven now saw what he had done.
“Maybe…..Maybe you were right.”, Helia whispered.
Familiar eyebrows started to crease upwards towards each other again, but with a set of anxious eyes.
“I should’ve left you.”
“Helia-‘
Turning his back and walking away, a glimpse of blue eyes looked back at Riven again, before disappearing. Riven quickly stood up and tried to follow Helia.
“Helia!”
Before he could reach him, a door slammed in front of him. A small click tagged along with the door. Riven tried to open the knob, but it wouldn’t budge. He repeated it while shouting.
“Helia!HELIA!”
Dead silence answered, not even a sound of footsteps accompanied it. Riven stared at the floor for a moment before slamming his fists onto the door.
Damn it. Damn it DAMN IT!
In irritation, he left the apartment, angrily walking away. Although he couldn't control his anger and jealousy, he could calm them down. Realizing this, Riven allowed himself to be outside the apartment complex for a while, and breathe in the night’s fresh air.
