Update!
Hello, this chapter is an update on the state of this story since its inception in December of 2020. If you are here for just the story, I suggest you ignore this announcement. The original idea of this story was named The Reborn Celestial and filled Harry Potter as he was reincarnated into the Marvel universe. The story had many gaps and, as the perfectionist I am, I scraped it when I was frustrated with the lack of real progress. Over time I lost a lot of my passion for writing and focused on reading the wide varieties of interesting new stories that were available. I now have almost 500 favorite stories on fanfiction.net and 100 subscribed stories on ao3, so I may have gone a bit overboard with reading instead of writing. During this time, I fell in love with crossover stories, and what crossovers I enjoyed had expanded.
When I came back to writing and started to get passionate about it again, Reborn Celestial became something so much bigger. The story had changed drastically therefore I renamed the project Primis. Primis was derived from Latin for ‘first,’ because it symbolized a lot of firsts for me: my first story of this size, my first crossover attempt, my first time using characters from new sources, my first writing project since I had taken a break. I was so excited about this new storyline that the original 16 page, 3400 word outline has now expanded into now having over 100 pages of background information ¾ of that being an outline. The outline is 64 pages long and still growing as I fill in more detail. Time gaps that were substantial have shrunk to almost non-existence. Character’s relationships have changed substantially. New media is being included. It has become something more.
The one thing I am unhappy about is how much time this has taken. It took a year for me to get interested in writing again and it has been over 5 months of on and off work on this project to get to the point I am now and it still needs a lot of work. At this point in time, I have about 10k words written of the story itself, most of that is in small chunks that were written when I was interested in that part of the story that day. To say that the story is a mess would be an understatement.
I wanted to write this author’s note for a couple of reasons. The first was to ask for any input you want to have in the story. I don’t tend to get any feedback or comment on any of my works anymore, which makes sense given how long it has been since I published something, but I thought to ask anyway. The second reason was to ask authors that are staying updated on the progress of the story for any advice and to see if anyone would like to review some of the ideas I have and give me feedback. Once I start to focus more on writing the chapters instead of fleshing out an outline, this person would transition to a beta sort of role. Normally I would say feel free to take my ideas and run with them as long as I get credit, but this project has been my baby for the past few months so I would ask for them not to use any of my original ideas for their own project unless I can’t finish it.
The most important reason I am writing this was to update anyone on what was actually going on in the story and to give an idea of when you could expect to see this completed. I’m thinking it will take another 3 or 4 months before I would be willing to publish the first chapter but if anyone DM’s me, I would be more than willing to give them a sneak peek at some parts of the outline to the story. Here is a sneak peak for those who have read all the way through this chapter, thanks for supporting the story: the summary of the story: Harry Potter has finally passed on, fulfilling his role in the Universe. He was looking forward to seeing his loved ones that he had lived with so long ago. Who knew claiming a stone, wand, and cloak would lead to the life he had lived. The stories told about the Deathly Hallows were false, much like he had assumed, but the entity known as Death did give them some significance. Once he had lived a long adventurous life amongst wizards; in payment for the second chance he received at 17, he was given a job to fulfill as a Herald of Death. It was a position that wasn’t necessary before this time in human history when wizards and muggles alike were searching out the means to cheat death and live forever. It was his job as Death’s herald on the mortal plane to keep track of these instances and, if they got too out of control, eliminate them. It was a long and tedious job he had fulfilled to the last days of humanity. Thankfully once the human race had evolved beyond any similarities they once had to the species homo sapien his job was complete and Death tasked another in his place. Death knew that the price Harry had paid for his resurrection after the 2nd killing curse Tom Riddle had thrown was quite high and had lined up a method of paying him for all the hard work he had done. After years of paradise with all his long lost family, Harry was getting restless. His entire life was full of adventure, battle, and action but now he felt like his afterlife was quite bland. Don’t get him wrong, he loved his family but the atmosphere was stifling like he still had more purpose to fulfill. This is when Death came to him with an offer he couldn’t refuse. Another chance at life in a new universe full of amazing things.
This story follows a very similar backbone to celestial reborn with a couple twists. Harry isn’t a celestial, instead he becomes a divine being. Much like Asgardians and Olympians, Harry is an extraordinarily powerful being in the universe he was born in but finds the center of his power in his pocket dimension within the universe he inhabits. He is not omniscient or omnipresent and is not undefeatable. I redid the celestial idea because I thought that he would be too powerful of a being to be able to write about. Instead, think of him as more powerful than Asgardians or similar but not as powerful as a celestial or galactus. He tries to live a normal albeit important life among other lifeforms and holds his power back considerably. He learns early on in the universe that if he does everything for a civilization otherwise it would become reliant on him. This doesn’t stop him from interfering but he limits himself in that capacity. I think this Harry has become an original character that once was Harry Potter. It’s hard to keep him true to his original self when he undergoes so much change in this new universe. He is born as one of the first beings in the universe therefore experiences a lot of time. His Potter heritage comes mostly into play when he walks among mortal humans. Potter, Black, Evans, Peverell, all are used at different times along with first names such as Harry, Hadrian, Harbin and James. His place in the timeline of the universe makes him quite unique and his children become the building blocks of many different branches of Potter, Evans, Black, and Peverell lines. Do not worry, inbreeding is avoided due to the gaps of time between those families intermarrying. The story is still in a very basic stage and might become an original work crossed with Harry Potter as Primis shifts to become a completely separate person. I still have the Potter family (James, Lily, and Harry) in the story and I still want Primis to have a strong connection with them but he seems to be developing on his own quite extensively. Something that a beta could help with immensely.
Who knew that making a character that crosses over with many different stories and exists during the entire time human civilization is built would take a lot of research? I do now! This story includes Harry Potter, Star Wars, mythology from around the world, Hamilton the musical, Marvel, some DC aspects (mostly the endless and some other divine aspects), The Man from Earth, and the history of the entire human race. I am not an expert in any of these. I am most familiar with Harry Potter, the MCU, Hamilton, and The Man from Earth so I have to do most of the extensive research into all of the rest to understand those timelines and characters but I have to cross reference with everything in order to get a complete picture. From Norse mythology, to ancient Egyptian culture, to the old Jedi Republic, to the invention of the microscope, to Aurthurian legends, to the DC endless, to the American Revolution, to the Marvel Octessence, to the discovery of Australia, to the development of the Roman Empire, to the conflict between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, this has been the most intensive research project I have ever done. I am trying to keep everything as accurate as I can but I simply do not have the time to dedicate entirely to historical and canonical accuracy. Any deviations from the various timelines I am intermingling in this story should be counted as an effect of having an immortal wizard god who has outlived civilizations thrown into various societies. Thankfully I stopped adding any more unnecessary media to crossover with otherwise this would never get finished. This is why the outline is 64 pages long already and it has taken 4 months to finally get to a place I feel comfortable with starting. The story is currently separated into 6 books with my main focus being on the 5th titled ‘The Age of Superheroes.’ I believe that this is the first one I will publish and it will be the main storyline. There will be flashbacks to explain some of the details like how Australia has become a world superpower, why the order of American Presidents is slightly different, and why medical advancement is different than we see today. An immortal god would make a substantial impact on the world but keeping a balance between noticeable changes and too much change is quite difficult.
Thanks for reading the update. Please reach out to me if you want to add any input or just ask about how the project is going in general. I’m hoping to create something new and interesting here using all the different stories and characters I can get in a crossover. If you read all the way to the end, DM me what character from the various crossovers you want to see most and you’ll be the first to see the first chapter when it is finished before I publish. Thanks again, have a great rest of your day!
