Chapter 1: how to summon a syphus
Chapter Text
"Nelson hasn't answered his calls, I don't know what to do-"
Ben sighed. "WESLEY NATHANIAL IS STRAIGHT!!!"
*The door gets kicked open and you see a half-dressed Syphus with messed up hair and a lab coat*
"WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!?!?!?"
Chapter 2: What Did We Just Do???
Summary:
Nelson is angry. Wesley, Deb, and Eliora happen to be close by. More to tell the therapist :)
Notes:
This is from an RP from like a year ago. So, all of the characters were written by different people.
Chapter Text
Nelson was humming, an odd noise that came out. He never did that, not unless he really was ready to kill some people. Or mess people up. He already told Wes he would put him in his place. So he would do so. of course, that meant pain. But, Ds conversation with him had also peaked his interest and he would bring it up. After his major bipolar maniac episode, he would decide just to try and sit and talk. of course, after he took his anger out on Wes. His boots made a loud noise, he got to the door, turning. "Why, hello." he said, looking up. He now only had a mask, hat and hood up.
Eliora grabbed her knife instinctively, fighting an episode herself. She'd protect her friends this time, even if it meant dying herself. "Get out." She hissed at him, knowing he was going for Wes, she tried to guard him the best she could. Nelson wouldn't get to him this time. She saw D instinctively backing away, but they were trapped.
He pulled his mask down, revealing his bare face, something he never did then, Nelson just shoved his daughter out of the way, going straight for Wes. "I told you I'd put you in your place." he hissed, grabbing the cuff of his shirt and kicking him to the ground. He'd start off slow. He took a glance at D for a brief moment who was not going to protect Wes probably because of their call. Nelson had a way with words and twisting rumors and the truth. He then let go and kicked Wes in the chest before picking him up again and pinning him to the wall.
Wes tried protecting himself but it didn't work. He got tossed to the ground and groaned when Nelson kicked him. His boots hurt, that was for sure. "I thought that was just a threat. then again, I didn't expect this either since you looked like you'd be out of work for a while-" Wes said but before he could get anything else out he was dragged to the wall. They were a tad bit close now. "Don't interfere or, you'll get hurt too. Please." he said, trying to get out of Nelsons grip but ya know, he has a strong grip.
Nelson gripped his shirt harder, he put his hand on Wes' neck, digging his nails in for a brief moment before letting go. "Threats become a reality in my book. You should have learnt that by now Wes. You've worked here for a while. I must say, I am a bit disappointed." Nelson said, But, he knew what would scar Wes even more. They were close enough already, And, that's when it happened. The unexpected. Their lips met and Nelson kissed him.
Wes didn't know what to expect, the anger in Nelsons voice caught him off guard. But what caught him more off guard, was the unexpected. When their lips met, Wes was in full on panic mode. But, it took him like a second to calm down. He proceeding to kiss back and harder this time. He forgot his girlfriend and D were just watching this probably.
Eliora was shocked, but she just watched nonetheless. Sure, her boyfriend was kissing her FATHER, which was oddly concerning, but- D was right there as well, and if those two could act impulsively, they could too- but they wouldn't.
"Father- Wes- w h a t the hell just happened?" She stammered, very confused, not even angry. "You just- WHAT?"
The word father struck Nelson. Did she just call him father after everything he had done? He brushed it off though and didn't say anything, he didn't even remember what he just did till he saw Wes just staring at him and everyone else in the room, along with Eliora stammering and speaking. He just left Wes there before walking away into the other corner of the room, distancing himself. "Yeah, I'm not too sure what I just did either..?" he said, shrugging. He felt happy suddenly, which was an odd feeling for him.
Eliora was stunned, to say the least, but she knew what was going on. Nelson was just as bipolar, and he's been in the midst of an episode, switching back to semi-lucid right then, which was extremely rare for him. But she looked from Wes to D, not sure what to do in the moment: she as surprised that Nelson hadn't had an adverse reaction to her speaking. She glanced at her phone, almost forgetting that she'd recorded everything in case things got out of hand and police needed to be called. Her bluish-purple eyes shifted around the room as she texted Nelson's contact, something she hadn't done unless she had to in months. "I'll give you this video and information about the experiments if you give me the chemical breakdown of what you injected into D, but they can't know." She then turned to her friends, her boyfriend, to make sure they were alright. "Everyone okay?"
It seemed they had forgotten how psychotic Deb had been minutes before this, and knew they'd likely pay for it soon.
D was just sitting there, she had watched it all. D had amber eyes, so when her eyes started shining or something you could really tell. She glanced at her phone for a minute, while they were having their moment D just sat there, froze almost. She didn't know how she felt, she felt numb almost but it soon turned into some weird, psychotic rage toward almost nothing. She just felt like going insane randomly. She started laughing randomly, it slowly became loud laughter as she was going insane at that moment. She ripped a few pieces of her hair out, she had this crazy insane expression on her face. Her amber eyes had lost that shine they normally had which meant something was wrong.
Eliora felt calm almost, but seeing D rip her hair out pained her, and she didn't know why, but she knew exactly what was going through her head, and it hurt to know D was experiencing what she did so often. A quick glance at Wes told her everything she needed to know: they were done. A strange sort of rage and determination filled her, but it was replaced with concern for D. She made her way over to her friend, the light out in her eyes, and gently took her hands so she didn't end up hurting herself. Then, surprisingly, they stared eachother in the eyes for a few seconds before their lips met in a kiss, something that made Eli feel a way she never had with Wes, light and happy, and she just hoped it helped bring D back as well.
Chapter 3: Do You Find Me Paranoid Yet?
Summary:
Celeste is in a room alone with only her thoughts, and an odd box in the corner.
Notes:
I wrote this months ago, there was really no context, I just know the names connect to my other 863 story, 'The Forgotten Subjects'. Which technically makes it an 863 one-shot.
CW: Mentions of d3ath, murd3r, bl00d, and kn1ves
Chapter Text
"Do you find me paranoid yet?" The girl leaned back, observing the white room. "I've only met one person I'd truly called paranoid." She laughed. "So, I suppose you want to ask me how I killed her. But you have to understand, that wasn't the intent. I never meant to kill her." She sighed and laughed brokenly again. "If I could change one thing, it would be sharpening that knife." She sighed and looked around the room. The empty white room. Then back up at the odd box in the corner. "The victim had tried to write something as she was dying...but she couldn't. We all did our best to save her, but of course, we hadn't a clue as to what we were doing. There was no criminal intent, only naive teenagers. Scared children. Then again, you never know who's lying to you. You never know what their intent was." The girl laughed again. "Allow me to start at the beginning. She hadn't been known as Luna for years..." Celeste paused to gather her thoughts before speaking again to the black box in the corner of the room.
"Caspian wanted us all, all our friends, to go to a party. She didn't much care for parties, never had. People insisted. She'd only given in because she was lonely."
"Her life had been a wreck, and her parents weren't involved. People came to check-in, make sure she was okay. She had made a poor job of hiding the damage." Celeste laughed again and stared up at the odd box.
"When everything else fell away, only one truth remained. She was alone. Utterly alone. So she went. That was the worst choice any of us could've made." She sighed once more. "Though I suppose you can't blame us, none of us knew at the time what was to come. To our knowledge, it was a typical high school party. Not some horrid killing fest that would lead to years of trauma." She continued, glancing up at the box as if for approval. Of course, there was no response.
"Someone once told me that you can bring a person back to life just by remembering them." She muttered, more to herself. "But if that were true, then she'd be standing here right now. And Caspian- he would smile, and that would be enough." The girl seemed to get lost in her head for several minutes before resurfacing.
"She'd worked all the time. But it was a Friday, her night off. If it had been any other day, she would have missed it." Celeste shook her head. "I suppose the fates cut the string... because all odds were against her going. And yet, she appeared at that party with the rest of us. Showed up to be murdered unknowingly. Her father had long since been caught up in his own mental prison from his Project days, and her mother had been lost as well. Had they not been, perhaps they could've stopped her from showing up. Nevertheless, she did. Caspian opened the door to her, standing gorgeous in a dress. She entered and the door shut behind her." Celeste stared straight into the box. "I often wonder if she suspected that would be the last time she'd ever walk through any doorway to any party. But I suspect she didn't. None of us did."
Chapter 4: he's a founder, not a freak (pt. 1)
Summary:
Wesley has Tourettes, which makes work more difficult for him, but Nelson's always there to help out.
Notes:
A/N: Wesley has Tourettes in this chapter, because I have Tourettes, and I'm really struggling. I like to give my comfort characters things I have, because it feels less isolating.
Also...potentially queer?
Chapter Text
Whispers filled the break room. Wesley sighed as he walked in and looked around. He didn't know what all the excitement was about. Being the co-founder, you'd think he have some idea of what was going on, but he was usually left in the dark. Sighing again, he filled up a mug with coffee, noticing how it'd gone quiet when he entered. People were just watching him.
"Hey-" He said with a laugh, trying to make it a bit less awkward. He got a few nervous smiles back. He took a sip of his coffee. He knew what they were waiting for. They were waiting for him to tic, to give them a show. After all, the office was boring, and he was pretty much free entertainment.
Wesley had Tourettes. He'd had it since he was in middle school, and it'd only gotten worse over time. That's why everyone treated him like a freak. It was always about him 'overcoming challenges' due to his Tourettes, and not about the accomplishments themselves. He was seen more as someone there for pity, instead of a scientist and a founder. He tried to suppress as much as possible, because he didn't want everyone to see, they'd treat him like a freak. He just had to wait to release them. It was painful.
Ironically, being anxious about not ticcing in front of everyone, made him tic in front of everyone. He whistled, it was the stupid notification sound. Everyone looked at him. After months, even years with some of these people, they still treated him like an enigma. He set his cup down on the counter and left the room.
*Everyone sees...everyone thinks you're stupid...what's wrong with you? Why are you like this? Why couldn't you just keep it in for five minutes like a normal person?*
He rushed through the hall to go to his office, trying to isolate himself for the incoming tic attack. He knew it was coming, his body felt like it'd been zapped with electricity. "Stupid, stupid, stupid!" He muttered.
Nelson had been in a meeting in the next room when he'd heard Wesley running through the halls. Without a second thought, he had left the meeting and gone to Wesleys office. He tried to open the door, but it was locked. "Wesley?" He asked softly, in a tone Nelson wasn't known to use. He could hear Wes mumbling and ticcing through the door.
Wesley looked over at the door before he opened it. "Nelson, hi-" He asked, trying to force himself to seem calm.
"What's wrong?" Nelson asked, instantly knowing Wes wasn't okay. He just watched Wes silently for a few minutes as he was panicking. One of his tics was "arson", and he couldn't stop saying it multiple times in a row. Nelson silently hugged Wes and tried to calm him.
Wes took a deep breath and leaned into Nelson, still aggressively ticcing and anxious. Nelson held him close. "You'll be okay." He said, quietly humming.
"Not if they hate me. When will it ever be normal?"
At that moment, the door opened. Deb looked at Nelson, holding Wes and humming, and Wes, an anxious mess. "What's going on-"

PREVIOUSLY: At that moment, the door opened. Deb looked at Nelson, holding Wes and humming, and Wes, an anxious mess. "What's going on-"
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Organ harvesting!" That was the Tourettes. Both Nelson and Deb ignored it. They were used to it by now, and they didn't want to make him feel any more self-conscious than he already was.
"Wes was having a tic attack, is that a problem?" Nelson asked. Wes had to smile. He was fiercely protective over him, even though he didn't need to be.
"No, the tic attack is fine- why are the two of you...are you?" Deb stuttered, somewhat shocked.
"Have been since college, Deb." Deb only nodded, but internally she was squealing with excitement.
*Jordan owes me 10 bucks.* She thought to herself.
"OH- O H...Well...uhm...congrats! I'll leave you to it!" She laughed as she closed the door, locking it as she went.
"I knew it!" She whisper-yelled.
Chapter 6: red baby car
Summary:
Benjamins daughter, Jaelyli, casually dropped with his girlfriend, Jordan. One day, as they go into the office, they're met with Gary.
Notes:
Ben having a child is so funny to me. I imagine Ben teaching them to recite the Sith code or something.
Chapter Text
"Red car." Jaelyli said excitedly, waving the little toy around as Jordan Kendall pulled into the parking lot of Syntec and parking.
She hopped out of the car, opening the doors to the backseat. She fumbled a bit with the car seat straps before betting them undone. Scanning the parking lot for Bens car, she didn't see it.
Of course not.
Why did she keep expecting he'd actually keep to his word and be there for his daughter? She sighed and picked Jaelyli up, carrying her inside while she babbled on about whatever it was in baby talk. She signed in at the front desk.
"Dada?" Jaelyli asked. Jordan put on a very forced, fake smile.
"He's not here right now, but that's okay! You can show Tali your car!" Jaelyli giggled as Jordan set her down, holding her hand as they walked to her office. They were met with a surprise when they opened the door. Standing in front of her desk was none other than Gary Reynolds. Tali also stood there, next to the desk, drinking coffee.
"We need to talk." Gary said, looking to Jordan as she closed the door.
"About-?" Jordan couldn't imagine. Gary sighed.
"Maybe it's best if the kid isn't here for this."

"Of course..." Jordan nodded to him. "Jaelyli, can you go with Tali? She can take you to go play!"
The little girl laughed as Tali, one of the assistants, picked her up. Tali gave Jordan a concerned look before leaving the room, carefully closing the door behind her.
Gary and Jordan stood in silence, waiting until the two of them were out of the room. Gary walked over and locked the door.
"What is this about?" Jordan questioned. "Did something happen?"
"It's about Benjamin." Gary said coldly. "As you know, he's been in recent trails. Well, he's not doing well." Jordan ran a hand through her hair, clearly stressed.
"What do you mean by 'not doing well'? Is he sick? What's happening?!" Her words came out in a breathless, rushed panic.
"I can't say-"
"YOU CAN!" Jordan yelled. "You can! If not for me, than for his daughter! What do you want me to tell this little girl when she asks where her father is?! I need a damn answer!" She let all of it tumble out before gasping a little bit, breathing heavily. She didn't realize she was losing control until after it'd happened. Gary took a step closer, putting one hand on her shoulder and pushing her against the wall.
"I don't know what to tell the child, but I know what I'll tell you. The next time you EVER speak to me like that, you'll do more than lose your job here. Understood?" Jordan looked up at the tall man, glaring down at her with an expressionless face. The only thing in his eyes was a cold, steely look that froze her to her core.
"Yes, sir." She managed to squeak out. Gary released her. Sliding a stack of papers off her desk, he stormed to the door, throwing it open before slamming it loudly. "And clean that office!" He yelled from the hallway.
Jordan stood there in utter shock, looking down at the papers scattered around the office. And she knew then, more than ever, that she had to get out of there.
Chapter 8: a little late
Summary:
A/N: Gender neutral reader X Ben Cobalt.
Chapter Text
"Ben?" Y/N called softly as they knocked on the door of the RV. There were a few curses and the sound of shuffling before the door opened, revealing a very rugged looking Cobalt. His dark hair spiked out in all directions and his cloak was thrown on over wrinkled black clothes.
"What?!" He said, tiredness clearly seeping into his voice. Y/N had to smile a little. Even though he tried to act tough and angry, it was adorable. Like a dog barking at its own shadow because it thinks it's another dog.
"You left upset last night, I wanted to check on you." They said softly. Benjamin looked down at them for a few seconds, wanting to be angry, but instead, he just melted a bit. "Are you okay?"
"I am now that you're here, love." He said, smiling down at them. "How are you here though? Don't you have work?"
"I can be a little late if it means spending time with you." Y/N laughed. Ben hugged them close, their tiny frame about half his size.
"How late is 'a little' late?" He grinned as he pulled them into the RV.
"However late you want to mean." Y/N kicked the RV door shut as Ben led them to the bed.
Chapter 9: A/N: Reply Book?
Chapter Text
So, I've written quite a few one-shots in the last day or so, BUT I was thinking of, in addition to writing one shots (and taking requests), making this a reply book!
What does that mean?
So, basically, you'd chose a character and write a paragraph or so as them, and I'd reply with a character response.
So, how that would work, would be like this.
You'd comment
"@/yourusername (Character)
(Character) reply to (Character)
(Your reply)"
Ex:
@Star_Foster (Matt)
Nelson reply to Benjamin
(Email from N. Syphus) Report to my office immediately. We need to discuss the effects of serum LB#003, it's having unexpected side effects. I need to know WHY this is. I'll be in the office until 6:00 pm today. Be sure to see me before then.
-N.S
So it's kind of like a roleplay XD. I've seen this done with Star Wars, and it was always fun, so if you're interested, I can give it a try.
I also do take requests! The only thing I will NOT write is 18+ content, but I am okay with hints and references. So, if you have anything, make sure to comment, and we can work out what exactly that'll look like!
This includes any ships, regardless of gender. I'll do pretty much any FICTIONAL character from the show. I'm not comfortable writing ships of the real life 863 crew, because they aren't either! :)
Chapter 10: red baby car (pt.3)
Summary:
benjiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
Chapter Text
A/N: Probably the last piece of this particular story, because I'm a bit bored of it and these are supposed to be one shots lol. Moving forward, who/what do we want to see happen? I'm a writer with way too much time, so I'm up to pretty much anything!
With no update about Ben, Jordan had quietly resigned to the fact that she'd likely never see him again.. Instead, her assistant Tali helped her care for his daughter. She often asked where Ben was, but was easily distracted. Still, Jordan knew eventually she'd have to give some type of answer.
It'd been 6 months of the same mundane, depressing routine before things changed. As Jordan walked into her office, she bumped into someone, spilling her coffee everywhere. Instead of yelling, this person simply laughed. Jordan looked up in complete shock. She recognized that laugh.
"Ben!" He smiled and wrapped his arms around her.
"Hello, my love." Benjamin said, running a hand through her hair as Jordan slightly shook, crying with clear mixed emotions. "I know this was unexpected-"
"I haven't seen you in months! I thought you were dead, or at least on the way there!" Jordan said, her voice trembling as she said it. Ben sighed and held her a bit tighter.
"I know...I'm sorry, love. I came back as soon as I could." He noticed the people looking at them, so he gently walked them into the office and sat her down on the couch.
"Catch me up on what's been happening?"
Jordan nodded. So they sat there, for hours, ignoring work, just talking. There was no better feeling.
Chapter 11: red baby car (pt.4)
Summary:
more wholesome benji moments.
Chapter Text
A/N: I lied. Part 3 was supposed to be the last one of this story but I loved this ship and story too much so here's another 500 words that I didn't intend to write.
After they talked awhile, Jordan had fallen asleep with her head on Bens shoulder. He just held her, drifting into his own thoughts. The sound of a door opening snapped him out of his thoughts. He looked up to see Tali, and with her, Jaelyli. He stood up and rushed over to pick Jaelyli up immediately.
"Dada!" She was very quick to latch onto his shirt with a death grip. He just stood there, holding her and swaying a bit.
"I should go-" Tali said, already turning to walk out the door. Ben turned to her, shaking his head.
"From what Jordan tells me, you've been quite helpful. You may as well be family at this point, Tali." She smiled a little bit, but that faded as she sort of zoned out, staring into space for a few minutes. "Tali?" Ben called softly. He sighed when she didn't respond, and went back to focusing on Jaelyli.
Jordan was waking up a bit. She scanned the room, noticing Tali. She went over, gently hugging her from behind. Now, Tali was usually terrified of touch. Jordan was different, though. She'd been working there for such a long time, the two had formed a friendship. Closer than typical friends. Jordan had learned to calm her, or in moments like this, help ground her slowly as she came back to reality.
Eventually, Tali reached up and grabbed Jordans hand, letting her know she was okay. Sometimes, after these episodes, it was hard for her to talk. Jordan let go and sat back down. The grounding touch was good when she was coming back, but anything beyond that usually didn't go over well. She'd noticed what was going on with Ben and his daughter, but she just let it be.
Ben held his daughter as close as physically possible, he was crying softly. He'd been most scared for her, the girl being so young. He'd known Jordan would take care of her, but that was only *if* she wasn't taken, too. Jordan took this chance to snap a quick photo. Ben opened his eyes, hearing the camera.
"Did you really have to-"
"Yes." She said, grinning. Ben chuckled a little, shaking his head. Jaelyli had already fallen asleep in his arms. Jordan shook the photo before turning it so Benjamin could see.
"We should be getting home, the baby is already asleep and it's half past six." Jordan pointed out. Ben nodded, taking her hand as he walked out of the office. Jordan latched onto Talis hand as they walked out, smiling. Tali was hesitant to follow, not sure if she really fit with them, but walked with Jordan. For someone as young as her, to have no family, didn't feel right. That was probably why Jordan had taken her under her wing, made sure she was taken care of. Made sure she was safe. She had nobody else, but these three.
This was family. This was HER family, finally, all together. It was perfect.
Chapter 12: red baby car (pt. 5)
Summary:
this was supposed to be a one shot book, why did it just become a short story?
Notes:
A/N: Timeskip 4 years. Yes, I know part 4 was supposed to be the last part, but I like to do things in multiples of 5, and I wanted to give Tali more of a closing. Poor girl just doesn't get happiness. I promise, this is the end of this story! Enjoy :)
Chapter Text
Tali looked around the room and sighed. There were so many memories, ones she wasn't sure if she could leave behind. But she had to. Syntec was closing, it wasn't like staying was a choice. She walked over to a desk, picking up a small childs toy. A little red car. A few memories came to mind, but for once, they were happy ones. Of her and Jordan and Ben taking care of the little girl.
All of that was gone now.
It was just her. Well, her and Nova. Which was pretty much the same thing. Talking to Nova was like talking to a brick wall. At least, when it came to anything serious. She was very guarded, which Tali understood. But that's not a quality you usually want when working closely with someone. Especially after experiencing so much loss.
The two were so similar, yet at eachothers throats about 90 percent of the time. Tali wrapped her fingers around the car and gently pushed it along the desk.
Suddenly, a voice from the doorway spoke. "Ready to go?"
Tali turned, looking at Scott. She nodded.
"What is that?" He motioned to the toy.
"Just something my friends kid had brought." She said with a nervous laugh.
Adjusting his glasses, Scott looked at the toy in her hand. He just shook his head. "Well, if you want it, put it in your bag and head outside. We're trying to clear the building in the next 15 minutes." Tali nodded. He disappeared just as fast as he'd come.
"Such a caring man." Tali said under her breath. She put the little car in the bag she was holding, walking through the room to make sure she didn't miss anything. As she remembered all the things that'd happened in this room. It wasn't just an office. It was a shared office, she and Jordan had shared this office for years. Seeing it so empty didn't feel right.
Tali took one final look around as she made her way to the door. She smiled softly, then closed the door, locking it with one of the keys on her lanyard. She shifted the bag on her shoulder, walking outside. There were a few others there, but it was relatively empty.
Because everyone else got to escape. Tali thought bitterly. There's no escape for me. Syntec will always be with me, and deep down, I think I know I'll always be with Syntec.
All she could think as she reached for the handle to the car door was 'I don't want to do this. I want to run.' But, of course, she didn't. She pulled the handle open and sat down. Turning to Scott, she set her bag on the ground. "Take me home?" She said softly. Scott nodded. Here we go again. She thought to herself as the car pulled through familiar streets. It's never going to end.
Chapter 13: it's 9am
Summary:
Characters:
Wesley Nathanial (27)
Eliora Syphus (12)
Nelson Syphus (30
Notes:
A/N: So I really like writing the "Syntec Kids"...So- here's an arson one shot.
Chapter Text
----------------------------------------------
The fire alarm blared loudly. It was 9 AM.
Wesley groaned and got up from his desk. This wasn't a good way to start the morning. As he walked out to evacuate, he made sure nobody else was there. After being sure the building was clear, he looked through the parking lot till he found her. Sitting on the sidewalk, playing with pebbles. Eliora Syphus. He sighed, walking over.
"Was this you?" Wes asked. She offered no answer. "Eli, look, you can't just set fires out of boredom-"
"No, I can. Whether it's an ideal situation for everyone else...well, that's a matter of opinion." Eliora said, not looking up from the game she was playing. Wes groaned internally. He wasn't up for this today.
"Where's your father, child?"
"He went home." Wesley stood there with a look of pure confusion.
"He...went home- and you're still here?"
"Yep."
He laughed, somewhat manically. This entire situation was insane. "Put the rocks away, I'm driving you home, Eli."
Wes put out his hand to help her up. He shook his head, walking to the car. They sat in silence for the entire ride to Nelsons house. Wesley pulled out his key, letting himself in.
"Nelson, your demon child started another fire!" Wes yelled.
Nelson suddenly just materialized, like he tended to do. "Okay, and? Is she hurt? Is anyone else dead?"
"No, she's fine. And not that I know of." Syphus took a sip from his flask.
"Then why did you bother me about it?" Wes sighed and grabbed Eli's arm.
"I...don't know. Here's your crotch goblin. I'll call you later, Nelson." He was just purely exhausted by everything. He didn't have the time or energy for this, with Syntec on the brink of an actual breakthrough. As far as he knew, the fire hadn't caused much damage, but it took its mental toll. He sighed again and left, slamming the door behind him.
Nelson looked Eli up and down.
"Why'd you set a fire?"
"I was bored." She said with a shrug.
"That's- sometimes I wish your mother was around, I don't know how to parent an arsonist." Nelson took another long swig from his flask. "Go upstairs, and no more fires. We don't want Wesley to quit on us."
"That's a matter of opinion." Eliora smiled the smallest bit.
"I- just go to your room, child." He waved her off with his hand. He was somewhat used to this. Eli laughed a little before disappearing up the stairs. Nelson sighed and looked down at his flask. "I may not have her mother, but I do have vodka. And if you're drunk enough, it's basically the same thing." He mumbled to himself.
Chapter 14: restart.
Summary:
Deb is a little emo.
Chapter Text
"This is real life! You don't get to restart things when you make a mistake!"
Wesleys voice echoed in Debs mind. He was right, of course. He usually was. That didn't mean she had to like it. He'd said that months ago, and she'd denied it, but it was true. It was true then, and it was true now.
She'd been taking too many risks lately, she knew that. While everyone else was focused on surviving, she was focused on not losing herself. That was a mistake. One she couldn't afford to make if this project was really supposed to save her from this hell.
Nelson didn't care about self preservation. Just because you had morals, didn't mean he'd listen to them. No, you just had to bite your tongue, bow your head, and do as you're told. Deb had been bolder lately, arguing, trying to convince him of her story, when that was in reality never going to work. She was supposed to be faking this so that he wouldn't question her.
She couldn't afford him questioning the project. It could quite possibly be the only thing to help her escape.
"Of course, that's assuming he doesn't already know." Deb muttered to herself, pacing. For all she knew, he was fully aware of the project and was just waiting for it to be put into action. Give her some sense of false hope of escape before dragging her back into his cage. "Wesley will be so disappointed if this doesn't work..."
Wesley had died 4 months ago. He and Deb had planned it all. He'd even written a letter to Deb in case things had gone wrong, and he'd given it to her as she'd pulled the gun out. In the letter, he reminded her to slow down, to clear her head. Most importantly, to not think too far ahead and just throw herself into something. And that was exactly what she'd done. But it was too late to get out now.
"Please...help me..." She pleaded, as if he could really hear her. She looked at their picture and held it close to her. "Please, I need to fix this...I don't know what to do. I need you-"
She cried as she held the picture. She knew he was dead, she'd seen him die with her own eyes...seen him die at her own hand.
Which is why it was a surprise when the door opened, and a soft voice called out. "Deborah?"
