Work Text:
Mai played with the ring on Ty Lee’s finger. It felt odd to see it there. Neither one of them had been big on wearing jewelry in the past. Ty Lee in particular said it sometimes hurt to hit people if she had rings on, and they’d spent so much of their lives viewing fighting as their most important skill. They’d felt like they needed to be on alert at all times. Anything that hindered them from jumping straight into a battle was a hindrance.
Since the war, things had been different. They still practiced knife throwing and chi blocking, of course, but it had been a long time since they’d needed to do it at a moment’s notice without having time to remove a ring or two.
She raised Ty Lee’s hand to her lips and pressed a kiss against the metal, earning a smile from her new wife.
“It’s gorgeous today,” Ty Lee said, motioning out at the sunset over the water.
“It is,” Mai agreed.
There had hardly been a discussion about having their honeymoon on Ember Island. They’d visited a number of times since the war, and there was no other place they'd rather be.
