Fallen For A Lie

Summary:

Was it obvious to everybody around me?

Work Text:

The smell of pollen filled the air, the small prince danced around the grass without a care in the world, why would he care? Mother kept him safe! He had no reason to care under the guidance of his family and friends! Adventures sprung out for an eternity, endless dances, endless fun. Then it would all come back full circle curling up against mother's fluffy mane and coat to keep him warm. It truly was paradise!

During one of these millions of adventures him and his friends encountered a strange creature, tall and bulky with green hair and eyes of misdeeds. It peeked the prince's curiousity before his friends growled out that it was a "human," a human!? How did a human get past mother's illusions!? Mother told him about humans, creatures who destroyed homes and created forests of steels to only put his friends up against each other in a fight to the death. The man tried to coax the prince towards him but the prince was smarter than that, he ran and ran.

Clutching his brother within his arms while he jumped over logs and ditches only to end up in a dead end, they took it all. His brother was taken from him and he taken and forced into a room filled with clouds and patterns, it was entertaining for a maximum of a second before he started to destroy things like a rabid animal. He became feral, he needed to get out of this clouded prison of his. The man showed him something, Pokemon like his friends but they were hurt, some may not even fly ever again. The man explained the true horrors of humans and that he needed his help and that he was the chosen out, the prince of Pokemon.

The prince agreed to help the strange man unaware the price he just paid with a simple agreement, years and years of forceful teaching and bruising. He got attached to a young grunt at one point! But he disappeared, did he also drove him away? He truly was a monster, he just watched these days pass and pass before his time was up. The coronation was about to begin, there's no more time for delay. Standing before his followers and people and swearing to save Pokemon among all, swearing to free all creatures suffering under those disgusting creature's influence.

The outside was foreign to him during his princey days, only allowed to gaze above through a hidden window that his new father didn't take into account for. It was taken out of course after his father found out that he snuck out to pick out a pretty flower almost immediately, he was punished harshly. Being forced into a room that smelt of copper and pennies while he watched the life drain from the friends with the chamber as he couldn't do anything was a good reminder to never disobey father. He was doing this because he loved him of course! How was he meant to grow up as a king if he treated everything carelessly?

When he was eventually allowed to leave the palace he ran as fast as he could, the dying flame of his past childish self burning brighter. He couldn't let that continue, what would father say? Disgusting. Once he obtained the stone and summoned his dragon he was dead set on washing the whole world in a blaze of fire, they will pay. They did this to themselves, all those endangered Pokemon, all those hurt pokemon, it's all because of THEM. It didn't matter if they "tried" to help them, they already caused their undoing. I'll avenge them, I'll avenge EVERY SINGLE POKEMON THEY HAD KILLED FOR THEIR OWN SICK PLEASURE. Nothing would stop him from bringing out their judgement and execution. This was his purpose that he had failed.

Everything crumbled around him, his palace was being torn apart from the inside out. To be beaten by a measly child so easily? How did he let this happen? He trained for years for this! How was he so idiotic to let this stupid child best him!? Nothing made sense to him anymore! Everything was folding into each other, the truth came out. What? Used? Freak? Me? I don't.. understand? What does father mean? He didn't, did he? Oh god, how could I have not noticed? He used me, he lied to me, he played me completely within his hands.

My need to spread my truth across the world allowed him to blind the king so easily and play with like a pawn piece in a twisted game of chess, the child still prevailed and had beaten the king's father. He couldn't believe that he had fallen for such a stupid lie, of course he was never on his side! The facade he had put up to be preserved as kingly shattered immediately, his mind completely reverted to that small child stuck in the woods, balling his eyes out and calling for his mother Zoroark. Nothing made sense anymore! How could this happen! He just wanted to relax in the sun and love happily with his family! Here he was now being played like a puppet on a string! He had killed more Pokemon than he had saved! He wanted to tear the eyes he uses straight out of his skull, he shouldn't be forgiven, so why?

Why was this child lending a hand towards him? Why was he allowing him forgiveness? Why? Why! WHY! I DON'T UNDERSTAND! The king lashed out towards the child in a fit of anger and fled, fled back to where it all had started. Lostlorn Forest. It was deserted, none of his original friends remained within the forest. It was a painful forest of what he father must have done to them, to those Pokemon he played with in the palace. He pulled out the crown that binded him to the palace and shattered it under his shoe, until nothing was left behind but pieces of golden dust. His thoughts still ran wild, what now? What does he do now? He has no purpose, he had no right to wield Reshiram but here the Pokemon was standing beside him no matter what.

He pulled out his toy and just stared at it, the dragon curling up around him as he fell down, still staring. He started to bawl, the child that started to die within him finally burst out, all the feelings hidden from his childhood became too much to bare. Nothing made sense anymore, he couldn't do it. He fell for such a stupid lie! He will never forgive himself for his mistake, life truly was not fair, was it?
