Chapter Text
“Bye Mom, I’m headed to the store I’ll be back in less than an hour!” He announced as he pulls on his shoe and ties his laces. As he stands up his mom rounds the corner and gives him a hug and pats his cheek. “Be careful Izuku you know how it gets after dark”
“I know mom I’ll be careful see you in an hour.” He mumbled as he ties his hair back with a Midnight inspired hair tie where its grown longer on the top and pulls it through the back of his black baseball cap. He throws his phone, wallet and water bottle in his bag and checks to make sure his sketchbook, journal, and gel pens are in his bag before he grabs it off the hook and grabs his wristband that has his key and ID card. As he leaves the apartment he doesn’t see the look of sadness that crosses his Mom’s face or the singular tear that rolls down her cheek.
Once he gets down the last flight of stairs of the apartment complex he starts jogging down the sidewalk, towards the Kinkotsu Alleyways also known as the “Maze of Musutafu” simply because there are so many alleyways that lead to dead ends. As he entered the alleyway he got this feeling he was being watched but wasn’t sure from where besides the fact it was from somewhere behind him. As he starts to pick up the pace he gets to the konbini and slows down just enough to get inside. As he gets inside he looks up past the store he sees something or someone moving in the dark, he scrambles inside after seeing this.
As he walks around he hears the bell at the door jingle he walks to the aisle with the stationary he quickly grabs the blue ink pens and heads toward the snacks and grabs banana and matcha pocky, as he starts to head toward the refrigerated section Izuku
stops to grab a melon and strawberry Ramune. He then gets to the freezer and grabs a matcha ice cream wafer bar and some strawberry mochi to share with his mom. While doing this Izuku hears the bell connected to the door echoing through the shop. Hearing this he looks up and sees a tall person with long dark hair. Seeing this he heads straight to the cashier not wanting to interact with anyone he didn’t have too.
As he is checking out the cashier keeps giving him curious glances though those glances weren’t because of him, rather what was behind him. The cashier hands him his change and his items in a plastic bag while giving him a tired smile. As he leaves the shop he puts his purchases in his backpack. As he starts to jog he gets that feeling that most people get when someone is watching him. This time he picks up a faster pace though when he gets to the turn before the one that would head towards his apartment he takes a left instead of a right then takes a right though just as he gets to the next turn someone drops down in-front of him at least he thinks it’s a person. Though as he stood there he started to hear a low barely audible rumble, which he figured was coming from the entity in front of him considering the sound started as soon as Izuku stilled and started staring.
This was probably the worst decision he had ever made but he started to hiss at the individual. As soon as he started hissing the low rumble stopped and a low growl that kind of scared Izuku. His fight or flight started to kick in while his mind starts to spiral. While he is in his head the figure starts to sink into a crouch getting lower to the ground like it’s preparing to pounce on Izuku and to no one’s surprise it does though at the last second Izuku moves and pivots and runs back the way he came and tries to lose his stalker but just as goes to turn the opposite way to his apartment he gets grabbed from behind Izuku nearly screams but gets the air knocked out of him as he’s thrown towards the direction of his apartment.
As he’s thrown he still hears the low growl though he thinks he hears them saying,“Go home” though he isn’t sure. He decides to listen and books it back to his apartment all while still being chased by this person though right before he started running he thinks he saw something yellow sitting on the persons head though he’s unsure. As he starts running up the stairs to his apartment he slows down because he no longer hears footsteps, or the person’s soft breathing and doesn’t want to wake any of his neighbors because him existing in the building was already problem enough for their landlord let alone a noise complaint.
As he continues climbing the stairs he starts pull his key out and looks out along the skyline and spots the figure and stares at the figure which is staring right back right after they make eye contact the strangers eyes start glowing crimson red. Izuku immediately bolts for his door and rushes to unlock the door to his apartment. As he gets in he quickly locks the door behind him and slides down the door and takes a deep breathe. He undoes his laces then gets up and toes off his shoes and replaces them with his slippers. When he enters the living room he sees that his mom is asleep on the couch and goes to lay the blanket from the back of the couch over her. As he does this he notices that there are tear tracks down her cheeks. He figures she had fallen asleep watching a sad movie or something like that though it was unusual for her to fall asleep so early. She had been more tired recently, though I had just assumed it was from sleep regression because she switched from overnight to day shifts at the hospital. He grab a sticky note and quickly scribbled out that he had made it home. He filled up two glasses of water, one to set on the coffee table and one to take to his room. As he heads towards his room he hears his mom shift and then settle back down as he slips into his room without stepping on the squeaky board. Izuku then gets changed into pajamas and takes his clothes out to the laundry closet. After he gets back to his room he sits at his desk and pulls out his underground hero notebook. It looks almost the exact same as his other notebooks from the outside the only difference being instead of a blue stripe its red and there isn’t any writing on the outside unlike his other notebooks which all have a number written on the cover and “Hero Analysis for the Future” scrawled across the front in Izuku’s handwriting. He grabs out some pieces of scrap paper and his laptop so he could start trying to find out who it was that he ran into and why they made him go home. His gut was saying underground hero but it could have just as well been a vigilante or an insane asylum escapee.
As he dug deeper into the internet and his notebooks he realized that there are multiple entries on this particular person and it was kind of silly he hadn’t realized who was chasing following him but to be fair he was scared out of his wits. Realizing how late it had become he set his alarm and got in bed. Climbing under his sheets and his fluffy gray throw blanket he shifted around a little until he got comfortable, he grabbed his Present Mic plushie and slowly drifted to sleep.
When he was awoken by his alarm blaring in his ear as he fumbled to turn int off. He had a pounding headache that refused to go away and the light streaming in from his window between the curtains only made it worse. It felt like his head was being split in two and being rammed by a two by four. He wished for some more sleep by any deity that would listen but that just wasn’t in the cards for Izuku. He wanted to roll over and go back to sleep but this headache would not allow for that so he got up and went to the bathroom and grabbed the bottle of acetaminophen. He then grabbed two pills and filled up the cup in the bathroom. He popped the pills and drank the entire glass of water in two gulps. While doing this he listened for his mom he heard her shifting in her sleep but considering this was one of her few days off that wasn’t surprising.
Since he was already in the bathroom he decided to take a quick shower just to detangle his hair and to try and get rid of his headache. He then brushed his teeth and hurried off to his bedroom to get dressed and ready for the day. He pulled on his uniform which had been patched and stitched up more than a few times and had seen better days. He then grabbed his bag and went down the hall again missing the squeaky board. He grabbed and apple and a bento his mom made from the fridge. He quietly filled up his water bottle and grabbed his hoodie off the hook in the genkan. He pulled on his shoes and did the laces making sure he had his phone and wallet in his bag he quickly shoved his hoodie to the bottom of the bag.
Patting himself down to make sure he had everything, then opened the door as quietly as possible and locked it behind himself. The minute he got outside he started stretching to waste as little time as possible considering how strict his homeroom teacher is on him compared to the others. He needed to hurry if he wanted to get to school before Bakugo and the others. If not he wouldn’t be able to get to class before their teacher decided he was late. He also needed to hurry if he was going to hide his stuff he didn’t need for school before the others got there. As he finished up his stretches with toe touches he started down the stairs to get a move on as time would not wait for him. He weaved in and out of foot traffic most of them office workers or students still he needed to hustle if he planned to get everything where he needed it before school started.
