Chapter Text
Yoo Joonghyuk frowned as his cellphone notification beeped. He forgot that he scheduled a meeting for the student council today after class at 5 in the afternoon. Joonghyuk continued putting his notebook in his bag before swinging it on his right shoulder. Surely, the other council members are already at the office. He might be the only one they're still waiting for.
But he was proved wrong when he saw Lee Seolhwa waiting for him outside the classroom. Seolhwa smiled at him before approaching. "You forgot about the meeting, right?" she asked him as they walked towards the student council office. Joonghyuk avoided the girl's gaze and didn't bother answering her question. Lee Seolhwa chuckled beside him. A lot of students are rushing along the corridor so Joonghyuk tried to avoid bumping into them as much as possible. The students avoided bumping into him as well. Yoo Joonghyuk was pretty famous at their school as he had been the student council president ever since the last two years and he's famous for being cold to unfamiliar people.
One of the rushing students, however, wasn't paying attention and accidentally bumped into Joonghyuk's shoulder. Yoo Joonghyuk frowned and stared down at the student. His face wasn't familiar so he must be a junior. Lee Seolhwa saw what happened and turned to ask the student. "Are you hurt?" The student shook his head and murmured an apology to Joonghyuk. Joonghyuk just stood there blankly as the junior left.
"Stop being so intimidating, Joonghyuk-ssi," Lee Seolhwa turned to him and patted his left shoulder. They've been dating for three months now but Seolhwa still uses honorifics with him. "I wasn't intimidating him. I never even said anything," he defended.
"That's what I'm saying. You should have spoken up and apologized to him too. If you were paying really close attention, he wouldn't have bumped into you too," Seolhwa replied with a shrug. Joonghyuk didn't say a thing in return and just continued his way towards the end of the corridor where the student council office was located. He entered the room and the student council members inside quickly greeted him. Jung Heewon, his second year vice president, approached Joonghyuk and Seolhwa.
"We should start the council meeting. Also, tomorrow will be the scheduled day for the recruitment of new members for the student council. Have you prepared the interview questions?" Heewon asked him as Lee Seolhwa took a seat. Joonghyuk nodded his head. "I did. How many students applied this year?"
"A lot of students applied this year, it was even more that those who applied last year. We have 8 slots available for section representatives and 5 slots for club maintenance. Our main officers consist of third years and second years so we should also start looking for our replacements," Jung Heewon explained. Joonghyuk nodded. For some reason, he can't forget the student who bumped into him earlier. It's as if he already met him somewhere but he can't quite pinpoint where exactly. Before he can even think about it, he had already made his way towards Lee Hyunsung, a third year representative.
"Lee Hyunsung," Joonghyuk called at the bear-like man.
"What's the matter, Joonghyuk-ssi?"
"Do you know a junior about this height?" Joonghyuk subconsciously asked as he gestured his right hand at the height of his shoulder. Lee Hyunsung gave him a confused expression and Yoo Joonghyuk snapped to his senses. What is he doing, asking around for a guy who just bumped into him? "Never mind, it was nothing," he added and walked towards the front of the white board. Joonghyuk cleared his throat and prepared to start the meeting.
"Good afternoon. As all of you might know, tomorrow will be the day of recruiting new members for our club. The main officers will be staying with me tomorrow after class to conduct the interview. The representatives will help us set the meeting room up. Those of you who are currently maintaining clubs can stay for the interview and you can start taking your own subordinates from the accepted interviewees. The main officers who are currently on their last years can also start looking for their replacements for next year," Joonghyuk said. The council members nodded in understanding. After some questions, they decided to end the meeting and just meet tomorrow for the interview.
Jung Heewon approached Yoo Joonghyuk as the members piled the chairs properly. "I didn't expect the meeting to be that quick. Did you forget what you needed to say to them or something?" Heewon asked him in curiosity. Joonghyuk glared at her and the latter laughed. "By the way, I heard from Seolhwa that you intimidated another junior of yours. Can you get rid of that attitude? You're the student council president."
"In my defense, I didn't intimidate him. I just didn't speak up," Joonghyuk replied before going out of the meeting room, leaving Heewon laughing silently to herself. The club members are used to him leaving without a word so they didn't bother to bid their goodbyes to the cold president. Lee Seolhwa followed him out after asking Heewon for permission to.
"You know, you don't really act as my boyfriend sometimes. Why did you just leave the council meeting room when I'm still there?" Seolhwa asked him with a pout. Joonghyuk looked at the girl and shrugged his shoulders. "I know you'd follow me," he replied and fetched her school bag from her hand. Seolhwa let out a small smile with the gesture. They walked together towards the school gate. A few students are still waiting for each other so the gate is pretty crowded. Coincidentally, Joonghyuk saw the boy who bumped into him a while ago waiting just outside the walls of the school. He is looking at his phone while scrolling. Seolhwa noticed how Joonghyuk stopped walking and she followed his line of sight.
"So you remember his face at least?" Seolhwa jokingly asked. Joonghyuk avoided her eyes. "Why don't you strike a conversation with him? You can ask him if he's one of those who applied for a position in the council," Lee Seolhwa suggested.
"And why would I want to converse with him?" Joonghyuk asked blankly.
"Well, the look in your eyes screams you're interested in that guy. Were you offended that he bumped into you earlier?"
"No, I'm not. Let's just go." They made their way out of the school and to the right side of the road. The bus stop is also filled of students from their school, but it's lesser than those at the school gates. A bus stopped by and Joonghyuk let Seolhwa ride it first. As they seat at the available spots, Joonghyuk's eyes subconsciously turned to the guy from earlier. He also rode the bus with them and as the guy saw that there are no available seats left, he remained standing. Joonghyuk was suddenly overcame by the urge to lend his seat to the guy, but decided against it.
He's also a guy. Surely, standing on the bus is normal for him, Joonghyuk thought as the bus started to roll.
