Say ahh~

Summary:

When Sakura doesn't show up to a meeting, Kakashi tracks her down. Finding her under the weather, he takes it upon himself to switch their usual doctor-patient relationship.

A microfic serial filled with brain rotting fluff.

Notes:

I haven't written for Naruto in ages, much less consumed media for it but lately I've been mainlining fics for kakasaku and this just happened. Probably mildly ooc and canon wonky but clearing the dust for other projects.

Chapter 1: Part 1

Chapter Text

"Hello~" Kakashi calls as he steps across the threshold of Sakura's flat.

It's the first week of the first month of the new year which means it's time for his tiresome physical. Usually, the medical director is prompt for their meetings but this morning she's late. It's no bother to him to find her as it put off more of his duties for later. Shizune was sure to ream him over the coals but this is more important. Granted, he's not overly fond of the exam but he was rather fond of a certain punk haired chunoichi.

Not hearing a reply, he moves further into the room. His heart skips a beat when he sees her lying on her sofa. He's at her side in an instant and brushes her brow. She opens tired green eyes to him.

"We're going to have to reschedule," she mumbles to him.

Relief washes over him as he realizes she's exhausted and not feeling well. He'd been alarmed when he'd found her lying on the sofa earlier; she should have been able to heal herself. Now that he knows it's likely just a cold, a moment of genius strikes.

"You rest, I'll go get you some things," he declares.

She weakly protests his assistance but he waves it off as he moves about her flat. He gathers supplies from various areas before returning. He sets them all on the coffee table in a dutiful little line before producing his most inspired find with a flourish.

"Say ahh," Kakashi teases as he sits beside her blanket-wrapped form.

She might be under the weather, bundled in a duvet, but if looks could kill, he'd... Well he didn't want to think of all the creative ways the kunoichi could end him. There are much more productive ways to direct his thoughts.

"Come on, open up Sa. ka. ra." he playfully sings at her.

"I already know I have a fever Kakashi," she mutters.

"Come on, be a good patient."

"This is revenge for all the times I've examined you, isn't it?" she asks with narrowed eyes.

His eyes crinkle in half moons at her but he knows enough to stay quiet. It's a battle of wills, his eternal patience versus her petulant misery. If she was feeling better, he suspects their match would last much longer. As it is, she blinks first and looks away, her features an adorable pout.

"Mah, let me have my fun. It isn't very often you're sick," he softly implores when he sees her resolve weakening.

With a resigned sigh she complies, opening her mouth so he can dutifully stick the thermometer under her tongue. He tries not to preen too happily at his success. After all, she'd only be unwell for a day or two and then the reckoning would come.

Once it's done reading, he dutifully checks the result. "Just as I thought," he pronounces, "your temperature is high."

She fixes him with an unimpressed glare. He softly smiles at her and brushes damp hair behind her ear. He places two gentle fingers against her temple and with barely a thought, sends his healing Chakra into her. He knows enough to make her comfortable while she fights off her ailment. He watches her melt in relief, her eyelids fluttering closed.

"Rest well, Sakura," he whispers as he smooths her hair.

She sleepily brushes her hand against his arm in thanks before exhaustion takes her. He hums softly to himself as he straightens up. Playing doctor instead of being the patient was definitely a pleasing turn of events. Maybe after his time as Hokage he'd take up a new career. Unlikely but one never knew.
