It’s 3:40, school ended 25 minutes ago, and it only takes 12 minutes to walk to where they needed to be. So there’s Sakusa, sitting on one of the benches outside of Nama’s Tea Garden. Nekoma is only an 11 minute walk from here, so this doesn’t explain why Lev is late and didn’t even tell them beforehand about it. They know Lev isn’t huge on time and punctuality, so Sakusa just decides to text him.

Lev?

Now they wait for a response, in the meantime, they occupy themself on their phone while they wait.
“Kiyoomi!”
Ah, there he is. Sakusa looks up from their phone to see the taller man walking toward him at a brisk pace.
“Lev? Where were you, I was waiting for you, even texting you.”
“Ah, I’m sorry!! I lost track of time, I swear!”
Sakusa raised an eyebrow. “Lost track of time?”
Pink tinted Lev’s cheeks, you could tell he was a little embarrassed. “I got distracted! I’m sorry I won't be late again!”
Sakusa’s eyes softened, standing up to make their way into the cafe. “It’s okay, let's head inside then, hm? I heard this place has good blueberry muffins.”
“Yeah let’s go!” And with that, they headed inside and took a seat at a table waiting for their waiter.
Lev was looking around at all the decorations, while Sakusa patiently waited, deciding to silently observe their surroundings as well. Most people would think being with Lev meant automatic conversation all the time, and it probably is. For them, at least. With Sakusa, it’s usually more silent.
A comfortable silence. Because that’s how they feel with each other. Comfortable. Sakusa can count on one hand how many people they truly feel like that with, and well let’s say Lev is on the third finger.
Sakusa’s back to observing when the waiter finally shows up at their table. “Hello! Welcome, what can I get you today?” He’s nice. Lev is the first one to speak up.
“Hi! I’d like 2 peach scones, and chocolate milk please.” He was smiling, always like how he was talking to new people. Sakusa always enjoyed the type of mood his smile brought. Before they knew it, the waiter was speaking to them now. “And for you?”
“Oh, Uhm, actually I’ll take a blueberry muffin with a small matcha latte please.” They weren’t as loud as Lev, they never have been. Lev talks enough for both of them.
“Alright, so we have 2 peach scones with a side of chocolate milk, and a blueberry muffin with a small matcha latte. Am I right?” The two nod, and then their orders are off for preparation.
“How was school today Lev? I know we talked in between classes, but I want to hear it from you.”
“I’m glad you asked! Well honestly, today was a normal day for me! I think Kenma-san and Kuroo-san said something about walking home together, but I had to tell them I was already running late to my date with you!” Sakusa smiled at that, it’s still new to them that Lev likes to call their little meet-ups they have dates, but I guess it’s a good name for it.
After a few minutes of talking, their orders finally arrive. Lev bites into his first scone and seems to be very much satisfied. Sakusa feels the same, the blueberry muffins living up to their reputation. They both finish their desserts and call it an evening.
“So what did you think Kiyoomi?” Lev looked at them expectantly, they were on their way home now, knowing they live in the same direction almost.
“Hm? It was good, I liked it. I’m glad you picked it, you know?” Lev looked happy with that answer. Sakusa smiled once more because it was just an instinct at this point. They just so happen to smile a little bit more around Lev, most people do. Sue them.
“Ah, well you know this is my stop! We have to go there again sometime, I was almost tempted to order another scone!” Sakusa chuckled at that. “Yeah well, maybe. Only if you get there when you’re supposed to.” Lev fake gasped at that, looking partially offended.
“I told you, I went through mild distractions!”
Sakusa chuckles again and shrugs. “Whatever you say, Lev.”
“Well, how about this. Maybe every day you should come later!” Sakusa turned to raise a brow at him. “What exactly is considered later, if there is no set time? You just take a walk, it’s not like you have to be there by a certain time, just don’t take forever.” Lev huffs.
“Well, spare me some time then alright?”
Time.
Lev could have most of Sakusa’s time, and they wouldn’t mind it. Time is nothing but a made up theory to them, but they value it so much for some reason. Sakusa wouldn’t mind spending most of it with Lev. Because to them, Lev is sort of like their sense of time. Something they may not understand, but value so much.
“Spare you some time huh? Maybe, I'll think about it.” They bid their goodbyes, and Sakusa finished their walk home.
Sakusa thought about the conversation earlier and decided that they needed to send a quick text.

Next Monday. I’ll make sure to stay back a while
and arrive at the cafe 15 minutes later than usual.

Giving a soft smile, they turned off their phone and set it down. Sakusa knows Lev will still take forever most days, even after their little arrangement. But that’s okay because they have time.
A lot of spare time.
