Jurassic World: Alpha DNA

Summary:

They all know he is Alpha but they also know he isn't one of them until he became one.

He raised them since hatchlings and their pack bond was deep until something threatened to break it apart.

An evolution goes against the morals of man and a bond that goes beyond species are probably key elements into defeating a new threat that might just threaten the lives of not only man but dinosaurs.

Chapter Text

When Owen was hired to take care and train four new baby raptors, each with a genetic splicing of a specific animal with velociraptor DNA, he had no idea what was in store for him. The moment he laid eyes on the first raptor breaking out of her shell, he felt…something. A baby raptor with distinguishing blue streaks was the first raptor he held. As he held her in his arms the blue streaks always seemed to always be in his line of sight. In the lab’s hatching area, Owen named his first girl, Blue.

Charlie, Delta and Echo came in respectively, and they took a liking to him too as they ran around his legs, occasionally biting through the fabric of the pant leg. In the nursery room, Owen filed his reports on each of his girls, their progress in training as well as their daily lives during the nursery room whenever he visited them.

Although he knew the reports he sent were for the InGen Lan since they are the ones in charge of the splicing and the birth of dinosaurs, he had no idea his interactions with his girls caught sight of one of the scientists of InGen, specifically a head geneticist.

Dr. Henry Wu managed to view the files and watched them with keen interest. He had taken note of how the raptors seemed to respond to Owen more so than the other caretakers. At most they would growl and snap at them like what a velociraptor should do when faced with a threat but Owen…

They would somehow miraculously turn into baby domestic puppies, crooning and chirping at him to get his attention.

"Incredible…" He would think as he watched the videos. The intelligence in their eyes never evaded his sights although his sights were mostly set on the first raptor that hatched from her egg.

The adoration and possessiveness was so clear to her eyes that Wu had a sudden, insane thought.

Suppose that dinosaurs are alive but sometimes people forget the dangers they possess. But what if…there were some dinosaurs who had the intellect and EQ of a human being?

Wu scratched that thought off. It was impossible, dinosaurs are creatures of instinct and despite showing signs of intelligence, all in all instincts are the first ones to respond to their bodies before their brain.

Wu's eyes trailed to Owen's figure as he gently scratched the underside of baby Blue's snout, him chuckling almost ready to become a laugh and she crooning and purring while never taking her eyes off him.

Then again, for the past 65 million years people thought that they would never see the sight of a dinosaur and yet here they are…

If he can bring back a fossilized animal back to life just by science then isn't it that far of a stretch to reprogram the structure of a human body to that of a velociraptor?

"But that would take a lot of research and experiments"

Wu thought as his hands slowly wrote out a diagram of the human body. "The process has to be slow and gradual otherwise they wouldn't be able to handle the strain…" Wu thought as he glanced down at the structural body of the human and dinosaur side by side.

"Man, I thought I've been giving her the right nutrients but it seems like the disease is caused by a pathogen…"

The words caught Dr. Wu's attention as he turned. A fellow scientist was scratching his head as he stared at a house plant that was slowly turning colors. "How long did you have that plant?" Wu asked and the young scientist jumped in surprise, not expecting to be actually talking to the man known to the dinosaur world as a genius in the art of bringing them back to life.

"Uh…a couple of years sir."

Wu hummed as he glanced at the plant, it looked the same as it was only that the leaves were slowly changing color and sooner or later the leaves would change as well…

Wu suddenly stood up from his seat which stunned the scientist into backing off before Wu grabbed the house plant and stared at the scientist "I'm taking this in for some experiments. You might have helped uncover some of the secrets I have yet to uncover in my area of expertise" He walked off without saying a word.

The scientist stared at Dr. Wu, in shock, lost in thought of his admiration and the sense of accomplishment that he may have inadvertently helped Dr. Wu.

Owen stared at the tablets in the packet and gave Hoskins a wary look "Tell me again why I need to take this?" Hoskins crossed his arms and stared at Owen straight in the eye. Blue and the other raptors growled at him in warning, their jaws snapping at the sudden disrespect they felt radiating towards the soft big meat.

"InGen wants you to take in these supplements for the raptor training. Said that it could help with the training if you directly smell like a raptor" Hoskins said "Look I don't care how you take care of them, babying them as if they're some kids ("They are kids!" Owen thought) but that doesn't change the reason for their living. We need them for a potential warfare for the military security"

Owen held back, despite his fists clenching so hard he felt something prick and liquid staining his fingers. "I'll think about it…" He said slowly and Hoskins slapped him in the back good naturedly before he left.

Blue let out cries of alarm when the scent of Alpha's blood hit her nose. She bit his pant leg and pulled, trying to get his attention. Alpha stared down at her and glanced at the tablets that were now stained with his blood.

He smiled at them, full teeth showing "It's alright Blue, I'm fine. Alright girls let's play hide and seek chase" The raptors barked in excitement as they raced around the nursery.

Owen stared at them, energetic and full of life, so innocent but their fates have been decided to be used for warfare. The thought of his girls being sent to war without even experiencing what it is like to live and just be free.

Owen had long been tired of war and seeing his comrades die left and right. He glanced at the tablets and his girls who were busy biting and nipping at each other and made the decision.

The next day Alpha came back to them. The raptors perk up when they notice another raptor scent on Alpha. Blue chirped and stared at Alpha. Alpha didn't move or make any noises, just stood and stared at them.

Although the scent of raptor on Alpha's body is unfamiliar to them, the new scent mixed so well with Alpha that they almost thought he was raptor instead of soft meat like those of Alpha's kind.

Owen grinned when he noticed the girls slowly moved before full speed running towards him and pounced on him. He sat down and was bombarded with a series of licks and crowns from them. Mindful of their dew claws, Owen patted each and every one of them.

He may not be able to give them the freedom animals like dinosaurs need but right now, he would make sure that his girls get the best care and attention.

After all, that's what an Alpha does to his pack.

Over the years the raptors grew and so did their enclosure. Their cute appearance when they were hatchlings disappeared as their skills and appearance grew sharper and deadlier.

The only thing that never changed for them is the way they acted around Owen. They would become fierce and snap at anyone near their paddock but would croon and give excited barks around Owen.

Barry could not even comprehend it, "Sometimes I think they really think you really smell like them" He commented. Owen nodded "I gotta hand it to InGen for those tablets though I also bought a few painkillers"

Barry gave Owen a glance with worry and concern. Owen waved it away "It's not too serious. Just a few discomforts here and there. InGen did warn me about the side effects when it first started. I wished they could’ve said something from the get go"

Owen said though he didn't mention the dreams he had been having. They felt so real that he felt like it was part of his memory. The dream would start in a forest or any type of environment without any form of city life.

He would then hear the sound of his girls calling him and he would run to the direction of his girls only to stop once he noticed that they were surrounding another raptor of unknown origin.

He stopped moving just a few feet away from them That unknown velociraptor would slowly move towards him and no matter how much he tried to turn or move, his body alway felt like lead. The last thing he would see before waking up was the unknown raptor’s forest green eyes that stared straight at him.

Owen shook his head as he glanced down at the railing towards the foliage where he knew his girls were watching him. “Alright, another day of playing hide and seek chase, Release the pig!”

He waited as he heard the pig's squeals of fear and only when it ran pass him from below did Owen opened his mouth. "Hold!" Almost immediately, the black blurs stopped and revealed Blue, Charlie, Delta and Echo all grown up with the height of an average human.

"Alright girls eyes on me!"

Owen said in a loud voice, his stance strong with his clicker on one hand. The raptors quickly zeroed in on Owen's figure though that lasted only for a few minutes before Echo's gaze was suddenly on another worker who was watching today's training.

She growled, her tail moving sideways. Said worker felt uncomfortable at the way she stared at him, like a predator staring at prey.

"Hey! Echo!" Owen's voice cut through the stare down and Echo's attention turned back to Owen who looked less pleased "Watch it" Echo responded with a bark of her own.

Seeing that his girls' eyes stayed on him despite their unnecessary movement, Owen decided it was time for the next training. "Alright, let's move" He said, moving to where the pail filled with meat was.

The raptors followed him, Blue snapping her jaws at Echo for moving ahead of her. Owen stopped in front of the pail "Hold!" He said again and the raptors stopped. Their tails moving sideways lazily.

"Alright, good form today ladies. That's good" He said, using his clicker. The raptors stared at him with their teeth showing.

"Alright Echo, this one's for you. Delta good job today girl. Charlie!" Each of the raptors jumped and clamped their jaws at the meat being thrown at them. Blue didn't leave her gaze of Owen for a second.

"Blue.." Owen said softly. The raptor let out a small purr as she stared straight at him. Owen grabbed the last meat, bigger than the rest and threw it. Blue grabbed it with ease.

As soon as the girls were finished, Owen soon commanded their attention "Hold!" He said and all eyes snapped to him. "Eyes up!" They merely stared at him with no movement.

"Let's work on that later. Today's a good day."

"Go!" Blue let out a bark at the word before she and her sisters raced back into the foliage, out of human sight.

"Looks like today's off to a good start" Barry commented. "Yeah and this usually ends up with something big comming in" Owen said, shaking his head before he made his way to the Cooler where water for the raptors were being kept at a low temperature to keep it fresh and cool.

"Owen!" A very familiar voice that made Barry sigh and Owen's eye twitch a bit in annoyance. "Looks like that part's passing" Barry whispered as Hoskins walked up to the two men. "Hey Vic, what are you here for? I thought that you were supose to come here 2 days later"

"Ah...I'm just here to check up on your progress" Hoskins said as he stared at the pen where the raptors were being kept. "They're wild animals Hoskins, they can be trained but not tamed"

Owen said "And people back in the old days said the same thing about dogs. But now look where they are, domesticated and obedient to their master's wishes"

"They're only obedient because they see their master's respect them. There's news of dogs even going against their master's simply because they perceive them as a danger" Owen replied.

"Then we terminate the rogue ones and keep the loyal bloodlines." Hoskins said as if he was talking about a peice of paper you could just throw anytime.

"I advise you against it Hoskins" Owen said, his tone slowly losing pleasantries. Barry had to roll his eyes at Hoskins words though he knew hiw much those words affected Owen. "Just because you think you made them, that doesn't mean you own them" Owen said.

"We do own them. Extinct animals have no rights" Barry moved to grab an empty pail to fill it up later for the raptor's dinner after he makes a quick stop to the park's warehouse to get more meat.

"You may have to rethink that way Hoskins. They're not extinct anymore"

"Exactly, we're sitting on a warfare goldmine and Masrani's just using it to make a dangerous petting zoo for kids"

"I think Masrani just wants to treat them with some humility I mean, we don't know anything much about dinosaurs about how they lived. Simply guessing by their bones and making stories to make a connection"

Owen said as he filled up the water pail and made his way to the pen "How long is InGen gonna stay in this pitch? Raptors may be intelligent but they rely on 65 million years of instincts. That part just won't disappear in an insrant"

Owen said before slaming the outer pen gate closed before Hoskins could follow and locked it. "You and I are dogs of war Owen. War is part of nature and out here in the jungle, it's a struggle for survival. Mother nature's own way of testing her creations"

The more Owen heard Hoskins words the more he felt like Hoskins really needed da break from Jurassic World "Do you even hear yourself Hoskins?" He asked.

Hoskins grinned "This is the end game Owen and it's gonna happen with or without you and your boys" Hoskins said with finality. Owen narrowed his eyes with a frown.

"Well until that time comes, stay away from my girls" Owen said before heading to the funnel where it will transport the water to the raptor enclosure.

As he finished emptying the pail, sudden movement caught his attention.
