Work Text:
The two girls planned on going on their run but Alita told Kotori she wanted to give her something first. She grabbed her hand the moment she walked through the room and lead her to her room. Alita was practically squealing with excitement which totally differed from her tomboy exterior. Only Kotori could make her feel like such a girl.
There were a few questions about the band aids on Alita’s hands but they were ignored.
She picked up some pink fabric laid out on her desk. Right next to the large cloth is a small box containing sewing thread right beside it. Kotori doesn’t have to ponder for long on what this fabric is before Alita lifted it up to show it to her.
“Is that my dress?”
“Yeah I took it.”
Kotori looked at her confused. “If you wanted it, you could have just asked.”
Alita chuckled. “It’s not that. I just made a little modifications.”
“Why...what did you do?” Kotori seriously braced herself for whatever Alita was going to drop on her, from experience…
The muscular woman clenched her fist, holding it close to her mouth like she’s talking into a microphone. “I give you the greatest invention known to man…Dresses! With-“she then placed the dress on her chest and held it down with her chin. She tucked both hands into two pouches on either side of the hips. They weren’t there last Kotori saw the dress. “....Pockets!”
Kotori was then given the article of clothing to examine.
“Eh? Eh? Pretty cool right? Now you can put all your things in your pockets like a normal person! You won’t have to buy men’s pants like me.” Alita mostly wore them because of her muscular build. Kotori thought she would totally look cute in a dress though.
“Did you sew it yourself?”
“Well I....might have some help from Mizael…” Alita blushed, stuffing her hands in her own pockets.
These kind of ‘girly’ activities weren’t something Alita delved into until she met Kotori. When sewing the pockets she kept pricking herself and the lines were never straight (like her). Mizael unpicked and redid most of it. Alita couldn’t really say she did it because her work was pretty much undone.
Fashion and designing was something her partner often expressed interest in that seemed simple enough but the many band aids covering her fingers told a different story.
Whenever Kotori would go out with anyone, their day out probably would extend another hour from the frequent stops she makes looking at clothes. Alita goes along because she often drags Kotori with her on morning jogs.
When Kotori first started Alita would have to wait for her to catch up. From leaving the house like she was receiving a death sentence to already waiting outside before Alita arrived, the change was slow but progressive.
Although the two found their new couple activity, it was built purely on Alita’s interest with very little of Kotori in it. She remembered her saying something about having no pockets, so she tried sewing them onto Kotori’s skirts and dresses but she was embarrassed to admit she went to Mizael in tears.
“Wow... thank you...” Kotori muttered, looking down at the clothing in her hands. ”Just for the record I would have liked a warning before you did this...”
Alita frowned. “Sorry, I didn’t ruin it did I?”
“Just... maybe don’t go stealing my clothes from now on?” Kotori sighed and Alita fiddled with her hands at her disappointed expression.
“Sorry. I just wanted to keep it a surprise.”
The green haired girl laid down the dress back on the desk before grabbing her girlfriend’s bandaged hands. Her gentle eyes and soft smile gave reassurance. “I know. I’m not mad. It turned out pretty nice.”
“You can thank Mizael, he did most of the work.” Alita couldn’t quite look at her. The confidence she usually expressed had chipped away from so many failed attempts with no accomplishments she could call her own.
“I’m sure you did your best.” Kotori rubbed the back of her hand. Alita might’ve not been a stranger to bruised knuckles but she slightly envied Kotori’s soft petite hands. At the same time it made her absolutely adorable, Alita could squeeze them and never let go. “You’re pretty clumsy.”
“Oh…yeah.”
“Don’t worry. You can always improve.” Kotori spoke softly, caressing Alita’s face making her sigh in delight. “I can teach you how to sew. I’d love it if you’d make me more pockets.”
Alita pressed her lips against her hands, making the girl giggle.
