Love doesn't always go two ways

Summary:

they hate her, she loves them
they can't see past their hatred
she can't see past her love
they won't forgive her, they don't want to
but they don't know why she did it, they can't know why she did it
but can she live with everyone she loves hating her? can she, truly?

Notes:

hi! so I'm new to this fandom and it's been a while since I've written anything, so I'll take constructive criticism with open arms

so to the story
this is going to be a long one, I have main plot to it, but I'm completely clueless on how to proceed, so I wrote this small piece as an opening so you guys can hopefully tell me how you want this to go

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

2001

Sabine held the test in her hands, staring blankly at the single pink line blinking up at her mockingly from the small window. They had been trying for six months with no show of success.

Each time she took the test, each time the test showed the same result, again and again, her heart crumbled a little more, Tom's smile got a little more forced, and their hope shattered a little more.

She knew that it took more than six months to form a miracle, that it took years for some - her sister being her evidence - she knew that they were fearing a problem that doesn't exist, but a small insecure part of her that always liked to believe that she doesn't deserve happiness, that she doesn't deserve love, that she doesn't deserve Tom, was telling her that maybe she wasn't capable of being a mother. That small part though, however small it may was in the past, it was taking over almost all of her rationality.

Almost being the keyword though. Almost

The part of her that was optimistic, a big part of her character that she always admired in herself, the part of her that was both rational and optimistic at the same time, the part that knew that there was nothing wrong with her or Tom wanted to try take the test again. It could be possible that there was something wrong with the test because this time all the signs were there -

-Her period was a week late

-She was lightheaded all the time

-She didn’t feel like eating anything but at the same time she was hungry

-and of course, The Morning Sickness

Was it too much for her to hope that maybe if she took the test again, the result would be different? No, it didn’t seem so, not to her.

She got up, threw the test in the trash and made her way to the sink.

Splashing the cold water against her face, she opened the cupboard, took out a brand new test and hoped this would be the last time she had to do this in the near future.

It was positive

9 months later

He held the newborn in his arms, cradling it, cradling her . His daughter. She was just a bundle of arms and limbs, curious blue eyes peeking out of the soft pink towel the nurse had wrapped her in, yet she was the light of their life, like the moon against the darkest of nights.

She let out a small gurgle, playing with the loose ends of the towel, covering her face and swatting it off, flooding his entire body with love and protectiveness. Filling him with the want to show her unconditional love and the need to protect her from the cruel world.

He swore he would do anything he had to protect his daughter, his wife, his family

Little did he know that his own daughter would break his promise and put her life at line for her city

Little did he know that not only was she the light of his life, but the entire world’s

Little did he know that there was one heart beating just for her and hers for that someone
