Trust in you

Summary:

When he received the first wound he activated his emergency signal. Detective Tsukauchi and Eraserhead were hopefully on their way. He wasn't sure how long he could stay in hiding. The villains he hadn't knocked out were looking for him. He could hear them on the floor below him. If help didn't come he was going to die.

Would that be so bad? Quirkless are thought to be useless after all. No one would miss him.

Work Text:

Prompt: I believe in you.  I always have.

Warnings: Dark thoughts, major character injury

...

Izuku pressed his hand into the deep wound in his side. Years as a vigilante had taught him how to fight and survive but he knew there were only two ways it could end. Either he would end up in jail or he would end up dead. Rolling his hand over he checked it and wasn't surprised to find it coated in hot sticky blood. His eyes were getting heavy. It was not from tiredness. That could not be good.

Fighting some mid-level villains had given him the wound. They had been able to stab with a serrated knife and hit him with an unfamiliar quirk. The wound in his side was more serious than the shoulder one.

Izuku shook his head. That's not true. Mei and Hitoshi would miss him. Maybe even Power Loader sensei. Power Loader had treated him well even if he was suspicious of Izuku's bruises.

Outside he saw red and blue lights, light up the window. Oh good, they were there. Now if only he could keep his eyes open.

...

Naomasa finished handcuffing the last villain. It had been a rough night of chasing down criminals that a certain vigilante kept leaving behind. Not to say he wasn't grateful to get them off the streets. It was just that he was simply tired.

Both he and Shouta knew the vigilante was young. Likely so young that he was in High School. They didn't like what he was doing even if it helped them. There was too much that could go wrong in their line of work. Far too much.

Looking at his phone he saw that the tracker hadn't moved. It was above them and he felt the cold thrill of fear run down his spine. Normally Rabbit would have left as soon as he arrived. Unless he was still fighting but it was too quiet for that. Or Naomasa swallowed uncertainly. Unless he was injured. It would have to be a severe injury to keep him from continuing on.

He and Shouta exchanged a look and the feeling of foreboding overcame them. Naomasa looked up as if trying to see through the ceiling. There was nothing unusual that he could see.

Sansa pulled up one of the villains and the man laughed, "You better go see your vigilante. We knew he would come tonight and prepared for it. Though we didn't know he had an emergency signal."

Shouta snarled even as Naomasa's heart fell, "What do you mean?"

The man simply laughed. It was a loud laugh full of dark promises. Naomasa remembered the reports he had on the man's quirk. It was able to poison blades. If Rabbit was injured by a blade. Naomasa didn't even want to think about it.

Without a word he rushed up the stairs and followed the tracker to a room with a shut door. Rabbit was behind it and he couldn't head anything. Rabbit was not a quiet person.

Opening the door he found nothing at first. The room looked to be empty in the darkness of the night. He used the flashlight he carried with him to double-check what he could see. Naomasa frowned as he checked the tracker again. It said he should be here.

"Where is he?" He asked the air.

"Detective?" Came a young weak voice to his right just behind the door.

Naomasa immediately stepped forward enough so that he could close the door. His flashlight lit up a figure on the ground leaning against the wall. In the belt loops was a blinking light. That must be the signal. Rabbit.

Under him was a growing pool of blood. The sight of which made his own blood run cold. Rabbit wasn't just injured once but at least twice. Double the poison.

Rabbit looked up at him and he saw green eyes dulled with pain blinking slowly at him. A pained smile crossed hsi face as he said, "Looks like I'll have to leave this to you, Detective. I believe in you.  I always have."

As Naomasa opened his mouth to say something when suddenly they rolled up into the back of his head and he collapsed. Naomasa lunged forward to try and catch Rabbit.

He wasn't fast enough and the vigilante hit the ground with a dull thud. Over his shoulder, he called out, "Medics!"
