Work Text:

The sun beamed in the cloudless sky. The cats around thunder clan camp tried their best to complete their jobs. But it was way to warm outside.

Woollyheart sat in the shade with a mouse between her paws and watched the cats in her camp. She blinked her amber eyes and looked to her side to see her napping sibling. Pollypaw.

She smiled as the apprentice snuggled closer to her pure brown fluffy pelt, which she was sure had a few tangled leaves and maybe a twig or two.

Their brother, Twighop, was out on border patrol. He had only became a warrior just moon ago. It seemed like he had been enjoying it since he finally got to do what warriors do instead of cleaning up after the elders.

“Woollyheart!” Called a voice from the entrance. She twitched her ear and whipped her head to see who called her name. It was Twighop. He trotted up to her and also took a seat in the shade.

”Hi Twig, how was border patrol?” Woollyheart asked while digging into her mouse. Twighop shrugged “y’know. Just normal. We did find some shadow clan scents though.” Twig said while running his tongue over his paw.

Woollyheart sighed “Those dang shadow clan cats, when will they ever learn..” she muttered. Twighop let out a amused meow “Never!” The orange tabby Tom joked.

Woollyheart shook her head with a tired grin. “They’ll learn somehow.” She meowed while standing up to give herself a quick clean.

“Shadow clan is full of jokes!” Said the apprentice on her right. It seems Pollypaw has woken up from her short nap. “I can’t wait to become warrior and put them in their place, especially that golden tabby.”

“As in Heronflight? Deputy of shadow clan?” Woollyheart asked curiously. Pollypaw nodded with no hesitation, “That she cat is so annoying! She’s so arrogant and blunt.” Said the apprentice.

Twighop snorted “And you’re not?” Pollypaw growled and leaped onto the Tom. “I’m not anything like that!” Said the darker ginger apprentice. Twighop and Pollypaw play fought while Woollyheart watched with a caring gaze.

She would always be there for her kin. Even when their parents had passed on to star clan, she had always been there and took care of them. Even her mothers father, Hopadiah.

He was once a barn cat who joined thunder clan and kept his old name. The old cat was currently resting in the elders den. He would come and see them in the clearing sometimes and tell Twighop and Pollypaw stories of when he was a loner.

She sighed and rested her head on to her paws and watched the two bicker playfully. It was just the little things that made her happy she had kin.

Might make more of this since this was fun to write!
