Work Text:
Ever since Yeonjun moved in with his best friend/almost boyfriend, Taehyun, he can’t stop sneezing.
It’s only been a week since they moved in together, but his allergies have been acting up more than ever. Or at least that’s what he thinks it is. All the symptoms match anyways.
Though at the same time, having these sudden allergies makes absolutely no sense since the only thing that he’s allergic to is cats, and he and Taehyun definitely don’t have a cat.
At least he doesn’t think they do…or did.
“Hyunnie, you didn't have a cat or anything before this, right?” Yeonjun asks Taehyun despite already knowing the answer.
“Why? Are you allergic to cats or something?” Taehyun scoffs, not paying much attention to Yeonjun as he busies himself across the room.
Yeonjun pauses before turning to glare at Taehyun. “How did you not know that?” He pouts, feeling offended that Taehyun—the person he’s closest with—didn’t know that fact about him.
He sees Taehyun freeze before turning to face him, his expression a little more alarmed than it should be for learning something that mundane. Unless of course he did have a cat, but Yeonjun’s pretty sure he didn’t, he was at his place enough to know.
“Wait—you’re seriously allergic to cats?”
“Yes? How did you not know this already?”
Taehyun shrugs, looking a little guilty.
“Well, you know I didn’t have a cat, so maybe you’re just getting sick?” He offers hesitantly, changing the subject.
Yeonjun almost considers that himself, especially since he only recently started feeling even sicker than normal. And well, there’s also no cats anywhere in sight for him to even be allergic to. And while Taehyun might look like a cat, he's definitely a human.
Though even then, before moving in with Taehyun, Yeonjun always felt a little stuffy or sneezy after sharing a bed with him. Whether it had been at Taehyun’s place or his, he always woke up feeling horribly allergic to something every single time.
And now, he and Taehyun have a studio apartment together, and his allergies have been more annoying than ever…
“You know, I always feel the worst whenever we share a bed.” He suddenly voices much to Taehyun’s dismay.
“Ouch?”
“No, as in my allergies, idiot. That’s when they’re always the worst.”
“Maybe it’s just my old laundry detergent then.” Taehyun tries, looking a little more anxious now for some reason. “I heard some people are more sensitive to certain smells.”
Yeonjun definitely hadn’t even considered that before, so maybe it really has been Taehyun’s laundry detergent this entire time. It’s the only thing that could possibly make sense anyways.
“Can I wash all your clothes then?” He asks, wanting to test the theory now.
“Is it really that bad?”
“Kind of?”
“Go crazy then.”
Yeonjun will.
If there’s one thing that sucks, it’s allergies, so he’d like to get rid of them as soon as possible.
So yeah. Yeonjun is definitely going to wash all of Taehyun’s clothes.
—
“Wear this.” Yeonjun says as he tosses Taehyun one of his sweatshirts before he goes to shower the following day.
Taehyun squeaks in surprise when the sweatshirt hits him in the face, Yeonjun laughing before Taehyun gives him a look of disgust as if he doesn’t steal Yeonjun’s clothes every other day.
“Oh don’t give me that look, you always wear my clothes.” Yeonjun huffs when Taehyun continues to glare at him.
Taehyun immediately flushes, his cheeks becoming a delicate shade of pink, one that Yeonjun loves so much.
“I washed our sheets and duvet already, and I’m washing your clothes right now.” Yeonjun continues, pretending that that’s the reason he’s asking Taehyun to wear his clothes (as if he doesn’t already).
“Wait—you’re actually washing all my clothes?” Taehyun blinks, his eyes widening in surprise.
“Yeah? I have to test your laundry detergent theory.”
“But what if it’s not that?”
“Then I can rule it out.” Yeonjun shrugs. “And besides, I like it better when you smell like me anyways.” He adds with a smirk, earning a deeper blush from Taehyun.
“You’re so damn annoying.” Taehyun groans before shutting himself in the bathroom, the door slamming in Yeonjun’s face.
Yeonjun smiles. Any other day, he might’ve scolded Taehyun for something like that, but today he feels a little more mushy than usual.
Maybe that’s just the effect of living togethe—or jist the fact that he really couldn’t be any more in love with Taehyun.
.
.
.
(And just as he expected, Taehyun looks painfully adorable in his clothes like always).
—
“So it definitely wasn’t the laundry detergent.” Yeonjun announces as the two of them get ready one day.
“No?”
“I think I just have a cold or something.” Yeonjun shrugs as he walks into the kitchen where Taehyun is cooking.
“So you washed all my clothes for nothing then?”
“You should be thanking me for doing your laundry.”
“I had to go to class in all your oversized clothes—“ Before Taehyun can continue complaining, Yeonjun comes up and hugs him from behind.
Taehyun squeaks in response, but he quickly relaxes into Yeonjun’s hold, not making any moves to escape like he usually would.
So it’s one of those mornings, Yeonjun muses. One where Taehyun pretends to act annoyed with him, but in reality, he just wants attention.
“I told you, I like it when you smell like me.” Yeonjun smiles fondly, pressing his nose into Taehyun’s hair. “And I know you like it too.”
“Do you want me to turn around and strangle you? Cause I will.” Taehyun growls. But if anything, he’s leaning into Yeonjun’s touch.
“You know you’re wearing my sweater, right?”
“Huh?”
“This.” Yeonjun says, spinning Taehyun around to face him while tugging on the end of said sweater. “Is mine.”
The blush that appears on Taehyun’s cheeks at that moment is just as satisfying as Yeonjun had hoped.
It’s really the cutest thing in the world getting him all flustered like this.
Though before Yeonjun can say or do anything else, Taehyun quickly tries to wriggle out of Yeonjun’s hold.
Fortunately, Yeonjun is just a little bit faster than him. And before Taehyun can escape, Yeonjun presses even closer to him and corners him against the counter, caging him in.
There’s nowhere for him to run now.
“You didn’t even ask me if you could wear that.” Yeonjun continues, knowing damn well that Taehyun’s clothes are all washed now. Hell, he even folded them all nicely, but here Taehyun is wearing his clothes instead.
Taehyun only glares up at him in response—that is until Yeonjun leans down to kiss him.
Taehyun shivers as he does so, a soft sigh escaping him as their mouths press together, as if he was waiting for this.
And just like always, he lets Yeonjun kiss him however he likes, quickly becoming pliant and letting Yeonjun take the lead.
It’s adorable. So so adorable.
For being so defiant every other time, Taehyun sure does come apart whenever Yeonjun kisses him.
Like now, when Yeonjun coaxes his lips to part and sneaks his tongue into his mouth.
Taehyun gasps in surprise, his hands immediately finding Yeonjun’s hips as he arches against him, everything devolving from here.
Yeonjun smirks before kissing Taehyun a little harder and pulling him closer as he sucks on his bottom lip. Taehyun whimpers in response, his hands tightening on Yeonjun’s hips as he trembles against him.
Yeah. Yeonjun really likes kissing Taehyun.
Except as it goes, Taehyun won’t let him win this silent battle that easily. And before Yeonjun even knows it, Taehyun’s mouth is already on his neck, leaving a trail of kisses along his skin.
Yeonjun exhales shakily, sighing as his mouth presses his lips just beneath his jaw before mouthing over his pulse point.
“You’re a brat.” He groans, the heat of Taehyun’s mouth dizzying against his skin.
“And you love it.”
He does.
“Now move—you’re in the way of my breakfast.” Taehyun says suddenly, the heat on Yeonjun’s neck disappearing as quickly as it was there. “Aren’t you sick as well?”
“Wha—“
Yeonjun yelps as Taehyun suddenly shoves him to the side, revealing his half chopped vegetables on the counter as if they’re more important than Yeonjun.
“Do I at least get some of that?” Yeonjun pouts, staring at Taehyun whose cheeks are still a lovely shade of red, his lips too.
“Depends.”
“On what?”
“How helpful you are.”
“Seriously? Can’t I just kiss you some more.” Yeonjun complains, his hands wandering over Taehyun’s waist as he comes up behind him again.
But Taehyun swats his hands away, his usual attitude immediately returning as if Yeonjun hadn’t just kissed him stupid moment before.
“Just hurry up and help me with this, I’m hungry.”
Yeonjun goes to protest, but his stomach audibly growls before he can, betraying him.
“Okay, fine.” He sighs in defeat. “What do you want me to do?”
“Finish chopping those vegetables.”
“Okay, Mr. clothes stealer.”
Taehyun turns to him while holding up a knife. “What was that?” He asks with a grin.
“Uh—nothing.”
Taehyun smirks.
“That’s what I thought.”
—
A few weeks pass by after that, but Yeonjun’s allergies don’t let up at all, making it more and more obvious that he’s not just sick like he thought.
Every morning he wakes up feeling horribly congested and sneezy. From itchy eyes to a scratchy throat and sneezing, Yeonjun constantly feels like absolute shit.
He’s never had allergies this bad before either, or at least not this persistent. They’d only ever occasionally act up in the past, but now it’s basically every single day.
There’s only so much of it that he can take before he finally snaps, and it’s just getting painfully annoying at this point.
Like this morning, where he wakes up feeling like he got run over by a bus—and if it weren't for Taehyun being cuddled up and is still sleeping peacefully next to him, he might’ve really started yelling.
But alas, Taehyun just looks way too cute with his legs tucked up to his chest like a baby as he clings onto Yeonjun in his sleep.
That makes Yeonjun feel a little bit better at least. A sleeping Taehyun is always a very adorable one.
That is until Yeonjun starts moving to grab a tissue that he keeps on his bedside table now thanks to his constant allergies, Taehyun waking up in an instant.
“Hyung? What’s wrong?” Taehyun asks sleepily, his arms still wrapped around Yeonjun as he sits up a little.
“I just feel really gross is all.” Yeonjun mutters, sniffling to prove his point. “Allergies or something again.”
“Are they really not getting any better…?” He asks quietly, his eyes not meeting Yeonjun’s anymore.
“If anything, they’re getting worse.”
“Oh…”
“It’s almost like I’m allergic to you.” He jokes, but Taehyun doesn’t seem to find it nearly as funny. Silence greeting the room instead, a tense atmosphere falling over them.
“What if you were? Would you leave me…?” Taehyun mumbles quietly as he presses his face into Yeonjun’s side a few seconds later.
It sounds like a joke, but Taehyun doesn’t say it in a joking tone. And rather, he seems almost completely serious about it, his voice almost sad, like he’s suddenly insecure or guilty even.
Yeonjun frowns, not understanding why Taehyun would possibly be thinking something like this now. All Yeonjun has are allergies, and it's not like they’re at all Taehyun’s fault.
“I would never leave you, baby.” Yeonjun reassures before leaning over forward to press a kiss to the top of Taehyun’s head. “You’re mine no matter what.”
Taehyun doesn’t seem very convinced though, and in response, he continues pouting.
“I’m serious! You know how much I love you, right?” Yeonjun tries again when Taehyun says nothing else, the younger boy only sulking now.
“We’re not even boyfriends yet…you can’t love me that much.” Taehyun finally says after a moment.
Yeonjun gasps dramatically. “Oh my god—are you serious right now?”
Taehyun says nothing.
“Kang Taehyun, you think I don’t love you?!” He yells, appalled.
“Be quiet—I didn’t say that…”
“You kind of did!”
“Why’re you yelling…” Taehyun hisses, turning away.
“Because I’m upset that you don’t think I love you!”
Taehyun takes that moment to try and escape, but Yeonjun tugs him back against his chest in a heartbeat. Taehyun not putting up much of a struggle either, and instead curling up beside Yeonjun again.
“Do you really think that…?” Yeonjun questions again after a moment, his voice calmer now.
“I—no…I’m just being dumb.” Taehyun mumbles. “There’s just been a lot on my mind lately.” He confesses before laying his down on Yeonjun’s chest.
“Like what?” Yeonjun asks as he gently cards through Taehyun’s hair.
Taehyun shrugs.
“You know we can be boyfriends if you want.” Yeonjun tries with a smile.
“You’re just saying that because you feel bad.”
“I’m saying it because I want to be your boyfriend, Hyunnie.” Yeonjun huffs as he leans forward to press a chaste kiss to Taehyun’s lips. “I wouldn’t kiss you this much if I didn’t.”
“You sure about that.”
“We literally moved in together! Why else would we do that!”
“Because we’re best friends…?”
“Best friends don’t kiss each other—at least not like this.” He mutters before repositioning Taehyun so he can deepen the kiss, Taehyun’s lips parting for him in an instant, almost proving his point.
“W—what’re you saying…?” Taehyun whines as Yeonjun moves to press kisses to his jaw.
“Be my boyfriend.” He whispers, his lips brushing against Taehyun’s neck now. “Please.”
“How am I supposed to think about it properly when you’re doing that—“
“Why do you have to think about it?” Yeonjun pouts before actually pulling back and facing Taehyun, his fingers gently stroking over Taehyun’s cheek now.
“Just do.”
“You don’t have to say yes if you don’t want to…I just wanted…I just thought…” Yeonjun trails off, suddenly feeling insecure.
Maybe Taehyun doesn’t want to date him or be anything more…
But Taehyun only rolls his eyes and pulls Yeonjun closer. “Of course I want to be your boyfriend.” He says, soothing Yeonjun’s worries. “I’m just teasing you.”
“That’s not very nice of you…”
“Mm, I know, I’m sorry. Will a kiss make you feel better, baby?” He says with a smile.
“Maybe…”
Taehyun kisses him again. Yeonjun kisses him back.
It definitely does make him feel better.
—
On one particularly late night, Yeonjun lays on the couch waiting for Taehyun to get home from one of his evening classes.
It’s late, but he does so out of habit, wanting to greet Taehyun when he comes back home as well as make sure he gets home safely. Yeonjun also knows that Taehyun likes it when he does too.
So he waits on the couch, scrolling through his phone until he hears the door unlock.
“Come here.” Yeonjun yawns as soon Taehyun steps inside. He opens his arms for Taehyun then, yawning again, his tiredness finally catching up on him.
Without hesitation, Taehyun pads over to him and lays himself down on top of Yeonjun, both of them tired.
Taehyun’s weight is comfortable though, the familiar warmth of his body nice as Yeonjun wraps his arms around him.
They’re definitely no stranger to cuddling with each other like this either, Taehyun liking it more than he lets on. And on nights like this, he isn’t nearly as shy about wanting attention from Yeonjun.
“You look tired.” Yeonjun comments as Taehyun nuzzles his face into the crook of Yeonjun’s neck like a cat.
Taehyun hums in response, his breath tickling against Yeonjun’s skin. “You know you don’t have to wait for me to come home like this, hyung.“
“But I want to.” Yeonjun says as he gently traces his hands over Taehyun’s thighs.
“You’re an idiot.”
“Mhm…”
They go silent after that, the two of them comfortably wrapped up in each other’s embrace as Yeonjun continues to trace patterns on Taehyun’s thighs.
Except as he does so, Yeonjun hears a soft rumbling sound, a sound he’s definitely heard before. But like always, he thinks nothing of it. It’s probably just one of their phones or one of the lights making a weird noise.
“I have to go shower.” Taehyun sighs as he finally moves to sit up a little bit later, the both of them almost drifting off to sleep there. “You can go to bed without me, I know you’re tired.”
“I’ll wait for you.”
“No. You’re tired, go to sleep.”
“Maybe I want a goodnight kiss from my boyfriend.”
“I can just give you one now.” Taehyun says with a frown.
Yeonjun shakes his head, pouting. “It has to be before I go to sleep.”
“Whatever.” Taehyun rolls off the couch, standing up. “We’ll see if you’re still awake when I come to bed.”
“Bet.”
.
.
.
Yeonjun ends up falling asleep.
Taehyun gives him a goodnight kiss on the forehead anyway.
—
Taehyun is very drunk tonight.
Yeonjun is not.
That explains it well enough.
They’re at one of their friends' parties together, the two of them enjoying their night off for once.
Though Taehyun hasn’t stopped drinking at all tonight, which is somewhat worrying.
Especially since Yeonjun has also noticed that Taehyun’s seemed more stressed about something lately, and now his constant drinks tonight seem to prove that.
Usually though, he’d talk to Yeonjun about whatever it is that’s bothering him. After all, they tell each other everything. But tonight, he seems to be consulting the bottle instead which is entirely strange.
Despite that, Yeonjun still tries to have fun, and Taehyun’s still clingier than ever, so that’s good.
But even then, Yeonjun just can’t shake the feeling that Taehyun might really be hiding something from him…
…
At some point during the night, Taehyun ends up wandering off in his very drunken state.
Yeonjun quickly goes after him out of worry, not wanting to leave Taehyun unsupervised in his horribly drunken state.
Hell, he doesn’t even know if Taehyun’s ever been this drunk before. Surely not.
Thankfully though, he finds Taehyun in some room alone a few minutes later, his boyfriend drunkenly half asleep on some bed.
Except as Yeonjun approaches him, he finds that there’s something weird about him…
Oh.
Taehyun has cat ears and a tail.
Black ones to be exact, the same color as his hair. They look very real too…almost too real…
It must be some weird costume he put on, Yeonjun thinks. At least that’s the only way he could possibly explain whatever the hell it is that he’s seeing now.
Though that’s very uncharacteristic for someone like Taehyun to do, even if he is very drunk. There’s just no way he would willingly put that kind of costume on. Ever.
Yeonjun does have to admit that he looks very adorable with it on though. He likes it a lot…more than he'd like to admit.
It’s still a bit strange. No. It’s very strange.
Where would Taehyun have even gotten something like this to put on? He’d been with Yeonjun just minutes ago too, so there’s just no way he could have found and put on all this in that amount of time.
So out of curiosity and confusion, Yeonjun reaches to pull on the little cat tail.
“Ow!” Taehyun immediately hisses, the tail curling back around himself in a protective manner.
“What…?” Yeonjun quickly grabs at the ears next, puzzled by Taehyun’s very realistic complaint.
“Stoppp.” Taehyun whines, his voice slurring slightly as Yeonjun does so. “That hurts, hyung.”
Yeonjun stares in confusion, his mind spinning as he tries to understand what the hell is happening.
How can pulling on some fake accessory possibly hurt Taehyun?
It just doesn’t make any sense.
He rubs at his eyes a few times to make sure what he’s seeing is actually there—which it definitely all is…
How many drinks did he have again?
Only one drink, last he remembered. Definitely nowhere near enough for him to start seeing things like this. And even if he was piss drunk, he wouldn’t just start hallucinating.
Maybe Taehyun is just being dramatic about his fake cat ears and tail because he’s drunk. After all, he’s always liked attention, maybe this is just another one of those times.
But at the same time, Yeonjun just can’t ignore how real it all looks…especially with how the ears and tail seem to be moving on their own…
Except before Yeonjun can figure anything out, Taehyun suddenly jumps up and stumbles towards him. He then latches onto him in a hug, his fluffy cat ears twitching slightly.
“Wanna go home.” He mumbles as he clings to Yeonjun. “Tired…”
Yeonjun gapes as Taehyun’s tail wraps around his thigh.
There’s just no way this is real.
Panic is an understatement for what he’s feeling right now.
He’s feeling many things. Too many things.
“Baby, why do you have cat ears and a tail…?” Yeonjun exhales shakily as he reaches up to stroke over Taehyun’s cat ears.
Did he suddenly get cursed by a witch in the span of five minutes?
“Hmm?“ Taehyun purrs in response—actually purrs. He’s literally purring right now.
Yeonjun stares, his confusion only heightening as Taehyun rubs his cheek against him while still purring.
Usually, he’d find something like that cute, but the fact that Taehyun’s making the sound of an actual cat is very alarming to him.
“Are you a cat?” He whispers, the words sounding stupid as they come out of his mouth.
“Mm…meow?”
Taehyun’s way too drunk, Yeonjun slowly realizes. There’s just no way he'll get anything out of him like this.
Yeonjun sighs before giving up on getting an explanation or answer to why the hell Taehyun has cat ears and tail.
Maybe he should just take Taehyun home instead. That will probably be best, he can deal with all this better when they’re alone.
Except then Yeonjun realizes that they can’t just leave with Taehyun’s cat ears and tail on display like this. Because even if it is some costume (which Yeonjun is starting to doubt that it is), he won’t embarrass Taehyun like that.
“Hyunnie, put this on.” Yeonjun decides, giving Taehyun his hoodie.
“Huh?” Taehyun blinks up at him through half lidded eyes, his cheeks rosy.
Yeonjun shakes his head before quickly helping Taehyun put on the hoodie instead, the latter too drunk to do even that. He then pulls the hood up over his ears and tucking his tail around his waist beneath the hoodie.
“Don’t move your tail.” Yeonjun directs, though he’s sure Taehyun won’t listen. So as they leave, Yeonjun just sticks close to Taehyun’s back instead, so if his tail does end up flicking out, Yeonjun can just grab it and tuck it back in.
But luckily, I managed to get out of the house without any problems. Well, aside whatever the hell is happening, that is.
Taehyun is a cat. Well, part cat.
No wonder Yeonjun hasn’t been able to stop sneezing.
It all makes sense now. Everything does.
Except he can’t think on it for very long though seeing as Taehyun is quite literally tripping on his own feet as he walks.
“Baby, come here, you’re gonna fall.” Yeonjun mumbles before moving to pick up his very sleepy and drunk friend.
Taehyun seems pleased with the arrangement, and clings onto Yeonjun happily, his eyes lulling asleep as he continues to purr.
Yeonjun pretends he doesn’t feel his tail brush over his hand as he walks…
…
As soon as they get back to their apartment, Yeonjun immediately tucks Taehyun into their bed, the younger boy since passed out.
Yeonjun sits down next to him a second later, Taehyun now curled up comfortably as he softly purrs and snores.
“Are you really the reason for my allergies?” He sighs while gently carding through Taehyun’s hair and petting over his cat ears as he sleeps.
The ears twitch slightly as he does so too, and Yeonjun can’t find it in himself to not be endeared by it. He still feels impossibly fond even if Taehyun has been the reason for all his suffering.
Taehyun’s just too cute like this…he can’t possibly be mad at him.
It’s ridiculous. But he’s just so damn in love with Taehyun that he doesn’t even care anymore.
And besides, Taehyun looks a hell of a lot cuter as a kitty anyways. Who gives a damn about allergies.
—
The following morning goes just as Yeonjun had expected—with Taehyun freaking out the moment he wakes up.
And of course, his (very real) cat ears and tail are still out while Yeonjun is right beside him, hence the freak out.
He’d obviously been trying to hide this from Yeonjun, but now it’s all out in the open, and Taehyun doesn’t seem the least bit happy about it.
And while he expected Taehyun to somewhat panic like this, he didn’t think he’d freak out this badly.
He’s supposed to trust Yeonjun, but by the looks of it…he’d almost looked scared of him.
He doesn’t even let Yeonjun say anything aside from, “I already saw it last night,” before he locks himself in their bathroom. Which is a childish move, but it’s the only place in their apartment that provides privacy and has a lock. Unless he just left all together, but Yeonjun much rather he stays here, even if it’s behind a closed door.
So in his defeat, Yeonjun sits down by said door and waits. Waits for Taehyun to say something, anything…but alas, he’s only met with silence.
“Hyunnie…?” He calls, worry tugging in his stomach the longer the silence wanes on.
He doesn’t like a quiet Taehyun…at least not when he’s locked himself in somewhere alone.
Except then, as if on command, he hears the sound of Taehyun crying from behind the door…
“You weren’t supposed to know…” Taehyun finally whimpers, his voice barely audible from behind the door.
“Taehyun, can you please just let me in.” Yeonjun sighs, leaning his head against the door.
He contemplates just breaking the door down by force or picking the lock, but a second later, he hears the door unlock much to his relief.
He quickly stands up and opens the door, revealing Taehyun who is sitting against the side of the bathtub with tears streaming down his face.
He cowers back when Yeonjun enters, his cat ears flattening against his hair in what could only be fear.
It breaks Yeonjun’s heart. It hurts.
Taehyun’s supposed to feel safe with him, not scared…not this broken…
“You weren’t supposed to know.” Taehyun says again, his voice breaking.
“But you knew I was allergic to cats for like a month?…so why didn’t you just tell me back then?” Yeonjun asks gently, sad that Taehyun had kept something like this hidden from him for so long.
“You’d—you’ll leave me…you’ll hate me…” Taehyun sobs out, his breath hitching as he buries his head in his hands. “Why…why would you even want to be around me anymore…?”
“Taehyun—“
Taehyun shakes his head, another sob racking through him, his body trembling.
“I’m sorry…was hurting you this entire time because I was selfish…I’m sorry…” He’s gasping for air now, his cries only getting more frantic. “I’m...I’m sorry…”
Yeonjun quickly reaches to cup Taehyun’s cheeks and forces him to look up at him, Taehyun reluctantly letting him.
“Baby, I’m not mad at you.” Yeonjun says softly as he holds Taehyun’s face in his hands.
Taehyun blinks up at him, tears still clinging to his eyelashes, his lips trembling as he whimpers. “W—what…? Why not…?”
“Didn’t I tell you before that you’re mine no matter what?” Yeonjun says, gently stroking over Taehyun’s wet cheeks with his thumbs. “And now that I know what the problem is, I can just get cat allergy medicine and be okay.”
“But…but you shouldn’t have to take that all the time—you can’t…”
Yeonjun presses a finger to Taehyun’s lips, quieting him down.
“I can and I will.”
“But—“
“Listen.” Yeonjun draws Taehyun closer, until they’re only a few centimeters apart. “You’re my little kitty now whether you like it or not.”
“I’m—I’m your what?” Taehyun chokes out, his expression shifting from sad to exasperated.
Yeonjun smirks before leaning even closer and kissing Taehyun on the mouth, his lips still wet with tears.
“You’re my little kitty.” He repeats, stifling a laugh when he hears Taehyun make a gagging sound.
“This is so embarrassing.” Taehyun groans, his tail flicking in annoyance.
“I like it.” Yeonjun mumbles, the words caressing over Taehyun’s lips. “It’s cute.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“And you’re a cat.”
“Yes…yes I am…”
“So are you like some sort of cat hybrid then?” Yeonjun continues, pulling back with curious eyes.
“I guess…”
“Can you turn into a cat—like a whole cat?” Yeonjun continues, curiosity tugging at his mind. It’s not every day that someone is a cat hybrid like this.
“That would make your allergies even worse.” Taehyun mutters sheepishly.
“So you can.” Yeonjun laughs before reaching up to pet Taehyun’s cat ears, the fur soft beneath his fingers.
Except Taehyun isn’t meeting his gaze anymore, and if anything, he looks almost scared again.
Yeonjun immediately pulls his hand back, panicked that maybe Taehyun isn’t okay with him touching his ears. “I’m sorry—I shouldn’t have—“
“No…it’s fine.“ Taehyun says before leaning into the touch. “It’s not that. I…I liked that.” Taehyun whispers, his cheeks flushing at his own words.
Yeonjun frowns. “Then what’s wrong?”
“You’re really not gonna throw me out…?” Taehyun sniffles, rubbing at his eyes.
“Baby, you know that I would never do that to you.”
“I know but…don’t people who are allergic to cats usually hate cats…?” He asks sheepishly.
“I’ll have you know that I love cats—and seeing you like this only makes me want to kiss you more.” Yeonjun assures before grabbing Taehyun’s hand and squeezing it in a silent promise.
“I’m sorry I hid it from you for so long…I was just so scared of losing you…”
“Well, I don’t mind at all, even if it is you making me sneeze more.” Yeonjun smiles, kissing Taehyun’s face once more. “Now come on, let’s go sit somewhere that isn’t the bathroom floor.” Yeonjun says before standing and pulling Taehyun up with him.
“How about we have breakfast?” Taehyun suggests, both of their stomachs growling in unison, Yeonjun quickly nodding.
“Want me to cook?” Yeonjun questions as he finally takes notice of how sick Taehyun looks—all thanks to his obvious hangover of course.
“Please…I feel like shit…” Taehyun groans, rubbing at his head. “Last nights finally catching up on me.”
“Did you drink like that last night because of this?” Yeonjun asks, gesturing to Taehyun’s cat features.
“Kind of…but mostly cause I was guilty that I was making you feel sick…and that I was keeping this from you.”
“You’re an idiot, you know that, right?”
“I know…”
“Well, at least I know why you like my attention so much now.” Yeonjun teases as they make their way into the kitchen.
“Huh? Since when do cats like attention?”
“They do! They pretend they don’t, but they do—just like you!”
“Okay, allergic to cats guy. I’m sure you know all about cats.”
“Good thing I have a little kitty of my own to teach me all about cats.” Yeonjun smirks, enjoying the way Taehyun’s face flushes.
“Are you forgetting that this little kitty has claws?”
—
After finding out the truth of what’s actually been causing his allergies, Yeonjun is finally able to get some proper allergy medicine—for cats specifically.
And while it doesn’t totally work like magic or make him completely immune to Taehyun, it does help at least a little bit.
And even if it didn’t, Yeonjun wouldn’t care. So long as he gets to be with Taehyun.
There’s nothing in the world that could stop him from waking up next to Taehyun…like this morning, where they’re happily wrapped up in each other’s arms, Taehyun softly purring next to him.
He really loves it when Taehyun purrs.
Though Yeonjun’s happiness is short-lived as Taehyun suddenly sits up in bed and his warmth disappears from Yeonjun’s side.
“Where are you going?” Yeonjun yawns, reaching out for his boyfriend.
“I have class.“ Taehyun says as he pushes the covers off of himself.
“It’s still early.” Yeonjun mumbles, rubbing his eyes as he checks the time on his phone. “Cuddle with me for a few more minutes.” He whines before moving to wrap his arms around Taehyun’s waist and pull him back.
“You’re really a big baby, aren’t you?” Taehyun sighs before crawling back under the covers and curling against Yeonjun’s side.
“Mmm, good kitty.”
“Are you really gonna keep calling me that?” Taehyun groans in annoyance, but his tail still curls around Yeonjun’s waist as they lay together. And if Yeonjun listens closely, he can still hear the soft sound of Taehyun purring as he strokes over his hair and ears…well, until Yeonjun sneezes that is.
“I thought you said you figured your allergies out.” Taehyun groans, guilt flashing in his eyes.
“My allergy meds must’ve worn off last night.” Yeonjun mumbles, pulling Taehyun closer despite that.
“And yet, you’re still clinging to me, why?”
“Cause I’m in love with you? Duh?”
Taehyun sighs. “You’re lucky you’re not deathly allergic to cats, you know.”
“Mm, but if I was, I’d happily die cuddling you.”
“Don’t be weird.”
“You’re weirder…”
Yeonjust sneezes again.
He hugs Taehyun tighter.
Because if he’s anything, it’s stubborn, and a few allergies could never take him away from this. From Taehyun.
No matter how sick he feels, he’ll always stay.
After all, Taehyun is his kitty now…
