Work Text:
Nagito and Hajime had been accepted into the college they’d both been hoping to get into. Their goal? Well that would be explained by the boxes Hajime was busy packing.
“Sorry I’m not much help...” Nagito apologizes, sitting on Hajime’s now bare bed watching him lift up the last of the boxes.
“It’s not like you’d be able to pick any of these even if you tried,” Hajime chuckles to himself, starting to walk down the stairs with ease despite the box.
“Well this is why I have you isn’t it? My strong, reliable boyfriend~” Nagito teases, hopping off the bed to follow Hajime to the car.
“It still amazes me how you go from self-deprecating to flirting,” Hajime comments as he puts the box in the trunk. “Welp, that’s everything.”
“Only took us 3 hours!”
“Haha very funny, now come on get in the car, you still haven’t seen our new dorm yet have you?” Hajime says getting into the driver's seat. Nagito can drive, but doing so gives him so much anxiety that Hajime just takes it upon himself to bring the two of them from place to place.
“I still don’t know how we managed to get a dorm together knowing my luck.”
“If anything it *was* because of your luck we got it, come on no negativity, we finally get to go off on our own and live together, isn’t that what we’ve always dreamed of!”
“I... yes I suppose you’re right,” Nagito smiles a little, watching the buildings pass by through the window.
That’s right, the two boyfriends had managed to be dormmates in their new college. They’d been dating for two years prior to this moment and ever since they’d spent more and more time together neither could wait for the day they could spend everyday together.
Now of course, this arrangement was not perfect, both knew this. The two boys still had many disagreements often and were afraid to upset the other, but even so they wished to improve to make this longtime dream of theirs work out.
–
“Aaaand here we are!~” Hajime says, opening the dorm door to allow Nagito his first look at their new living quarters.
“It’s... plain,” Nagito notes.
“Well obviously dummy, that’s why we packed all our stuff right.”
“It feels very underwhelming for what a big step this feels like,” Nagito acknowledges, looking around the entire room. It was a very small place, not that that was unexpected for a college dorm room. It had all the basic necessities: beds, closet, bathroom, desks, etc.
Hajime laughs a bit at Nagito’s seeming disappointment. “Oh come on, soon it’ll be our… how did you call it? Very own love nest~”
Nagito flushes at the reference of the little joke he’d made years ago that Hajime refuses to let go. Hajime laughs more at this and then moves closer to Nagito. The two share a kiss relishing in the moment. Here they are, finally here together in the place where they’ll spend their college years. The place where they’ll sleep, bathe, and work together.
“I changed my mind, I couldn’t ask for anything better,” Nagito smiles after the two break the kiss.
“I knew you’d change your mind about it sooner or later, now come on I know you at least can decorate.”
“You know me so well~”
- Some unpacking later -
As the boys were continuing to unpack they heard a knock at the door.
“Did you tell anyone that we were moving in today?” Nagito asks, looking from where he was setting up his computer.
“Other than Kazu who lent us all the boxes, not really, wanted to wait until everything was settled,” Hajime replies, putting down the shirt he was about to hang (yet another plain button up).
“Yo,” Chiaki greets as Hajime opens the door to find her there.
“Chiaki!?” Hajime exclaims.
“Chiaki?” Nagito questions, his curiosity peaked as he tries to look in front of Hajime.
“Didn’t I tell you I got accepted to the same college as well, or were you both too busy making out to read your texts,” Chiaki explains.
“Well yea I remember that but... you’re staying here at the dorm too? Figured you’d much prefer staying alone,” Hajime wonders aloud.
“I do, and guess who was given a dorm for one,” Chiaki replies, smiling at her personal victory.
“They have those? I didn’t even know! But it’s exciting that you’re here too,” Nagito exclaims, pushing his way beside Hajime to face Chiaki properly.
“So how’s it going settling into your love nest~” Chiaki teases.
“Not you toooo,” Nagito whines, blushing yet again.
Chiaki chuckles as she steps inside, taking a look at what the boys had accomplished. They didn’t have much to start out with so obviously unpacking was practically almost done other than a few making sure things were set up properly and putting things in the correct drawers.
Chiaki paused in front of the beds, which was actually a bunk bed, “So what are you two going to do about this? Knowing you I’d be surprised if you could even fall asleep without being together.”
The two boys merely stared at the bunk bed, then at Chiaki, then at each other.
“Let me guess... haven’t bothered?” Chiaki questions knowingly.
Hajime shakes his head defeated, but Nagito steps forward with his own idea. “I was thinking we could get another bed of the same size as the bottom bunk so that we could make it longer!”
Chiaki looks at Nagito approvingly, “Well that sounds like a good enough idea.”
“Ah I thought you just didn’t want to sleep with me and that’s why you hadn’t mentioned it,” Hajime says.
“I-I thought the same...” Nagito notes.
“You both... are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Chiaki questions, genuinely worried about her best friends.
“I think it’ll all end well, after all we’ve grown a lot in the past 2 years and living together will only serve as a chance for us to get to know each other better,” Hajime replies confidently.
Nagito looks awestruck at Hajime’s confident words about himself and his boyfriend, while Chiaki nods satisfied with the answer. “Well I have my own unpacking to get done so I’ll catch you two later okay? Try not to get too many noise complaints~” Chiaki says, waving goodbye as she heads towards the door.
“W-we won’t!... I think,” Hajime replies, taking his own turn to blush. Nagito laughs a little as Chiaki shuts the door. “Well I suppose it’s back to unpacking huh.”
Nagito looks down a bit embarrassed, “D-did you really mean that, that you think everything will be okay?
Hajime looks curiously at Nagito, before realizing he was probably stressing about the whole arrangement to himself the whole time. “Of course I mean what I said! I love you Nagito, more than anything in this whole world. I’ll make sure we’re both happy even if it takes everything I have.”
Nagito smiling brightly, “I- I feel the same way! I want to live happily with you for as long as you’ll allow!”
Hajime sighs as he pulls Nagito into a hug, “I don’t think I’d ever willingly decide to leave you after everything.”
Nagito just smiles more and rests his face against Hajime’s neck. The two may find new hardships than they’ve ever faced, but even so it was apparent to both that their love wasn’t so easy to break.
“I love you Hajime,” Nagito whispers.
“I love you too Nagito,” Hajime smiles, pulling away to Nagito only to move back in to kiss him.
~ The end (but not for them ;3) ~
