For some reason, everyone thought that Seungmin and Hyunjin were dating. They weren’t, actually, and Hyunjin said this every time. He didn’t have anything against Seungmin, god no, Seungmin was his best friend and so-called soulmate, so no, the idea of dating Seungmin wasn’t bad or gross. There’s just been a small problem.
Hyunjin was in love with Han Jusing, and honestly, it wasn’t this great to let his crush know that he’s already been dating someone. The least Hyunjin could do is stay single. You know, just in case.
But Seungmin didn’t really care about this dating thing, he just went with the flow, laughed at the jokes and always called Hyunjin “sweetie” or “darling” just for the sake of this. And another funny thing - there was Minho.
There was Minho, who was always pissed at Hyunjin for some reason. They had a great group of friends - all eight of them - no one really hated or despised each other. Everyone got along pretty well.
Except for Minho, who had a problem with Hyunjin and Seungmin at the same time.
“Are you homophobic or something?” Seungmin asked once.
“I’m pretty sure I’ve slept with more guys than you have,” answered Minho.
So Seungmin didn’t really understand what was happening. Of course, Minho and Seungmin were bickering from the moment they first met, but it was just the way they talked - they never meant to hurt each other, they were just joking around.
But Hyunjin? What could sweet, adorable and nice Hyunjin possibly do wrong to piss Minho?
“Learn how to use chopsticks properly, you’re embarrassing yourself.”
“Can you clean properly after yourself? It’s disgusting.”
“Can you maybe check the forecast next time? I’m tired of giving Seungmin my jacket just because you forgot yours and he gave his to you.”
And everytime Seungmin and Hyunjin did something sweet together, there was always an irritation on Minho’s face. Honestly, Seungmin was having fun. This whole situation was absurd, but Seungmin loved to shove his fake boyfriend into Minho’s face. “See this, hyung? You thought you were more handsome and charming, but guess who has a boyfriend and who hasn't, huh?”.
So yeah, Seungmin was having the best laugh in his life thanks to Hyunjin.
“Wooyoung is throwing a party,” Changin said, when they once again gathered for a movie night. It was a blessing to have mature working hyungs, who were able to rent an apartment and invite a whole friend group for evenings like this.
“I’m not sure if I want to spend another evening watching him and San kissing all night,” sighed Jeongin.
“We can always throw our couple for a kissing competition,” Felix laughed.
“Once again, Seungmin and I are not dating!” whined Hyunjin.
“Did you hear that, Jisung?” asked Seungmin.
Jisung didn’t hear that. He was too busy eating popcorn, while everyone was busy chatting. It was hopeless, if you’d ask Seungmin, but still he was rooting for his best friend like no one would.
“C’mon, guys!” said Changbin. “We haven’t been to a party for ages! Do you know how boring it is to live a grown-up life and go to work? I wanna have fun!”
“You work in JYP with Chan, do you really want us to believe it’s boring?” asked Felix.
“Just live your best college life while you can! Go to parties, have fun, and please help to have fun to your hyungs!”
Everyone laughed. There was a point in Changbin’s words, and of course they were going to go to a party. They just loved to tease Changbin.
“So, when is this party?”
Changbin smiled brightly.
In Minho’s opinion, it was boring. He grew out of the age when it’s fun to drink with your friends. He didn’t mind alcohol, he just preferred good wine to an enormous amount of whiskey and tequila. Plus, now he had hangovers and it was a big no-no.
So, two hours later, he just wanted to go home.
“You’re bored, right?” Seonghwa came out of nowhere.
“Right now I'm much better, thanks for asking,” Minho said and took a sip of whiskey he was holding. “I haven’t seen you all evening.”
“Felix was too cute, sorry, I couldn’t leave him.”
“I hear that a lot, trust me,” Minho laughed.
“I believe I saw Hyunjin and Jisung going together in the bedroom, so…” Seonghwa smiled with a hint.
“You have terrible thoughts going in your head,” answered Minho. “But thanks.”
Seungmin was found pretty quickly. Minho didn’t know how much the guy drank, but he was definitely having his best time on the so-called dance floor in the living room. Everyone knew that Seungmin loved to sing since childhood and unlike his best friend (boyfriend?) Hyunjin, he never really had a thing for dancing.
But right now, with the help of alcohol, he got a chance to show off his dance skills that he’s been hiding all this time. Seungmin had his eyes closed, he moved to the music so freely that Minho couldn’t take his eyes off him. And where the fuck was Hyunjin? Why didn’t he admire his handsome and sexy boyfriend like any normal guy would’ve?
Minho didn’t realize that he’s been slowly getting closer to Seungmin all this time he was watching him. Only when they bumped into each other, Seungmin finally opened his eyes and Minho woke up from this dream.
“I can’t believe we’re finally alone,” said Minho. “You know, I almost went home.”
They didn’t talk much this evening. Seungmin was wrapped around Hyunjin and Chan, dancing together, drinking together. That was the first time when Minho talked to him this evening.
“You should’ve,” answered Seungmin. “I’m pretty sure Jeongin is sleeping in the bedroom. It'd be nice if you took care of him and took him home. But,” Seungmin sighed. “If you’re here, don’t be a mood killer and at least try to dance and have fun”
Minho rolled his eyes, but still started to move to the music, trying to keep up with Seungmin’s rhythm.
“Why are you dancing alone? Where’s your boyfriend?”
“Dunno,” Seungmin shrugged his shoulders. “Probably drinking or talking to someone. I’m not his mother, so I’m just hoping he’s having fun.”
Once again, they didn’t talk much. Seungmin was too busy dancing, while Minho was too busy watching him and trying to look like he wasn’t. It was stupid, but their whole relationship was as much stupid. Bickering with each other, never saying any nice words to each other, just showing affection with Minho’s actions and Seungmin’s bright smile. But they were fine with this. They got along so well only because Seungmin was the only person who could keep up with Minho. Even Minho’s best friend, Jisung, got mad at him a couple of times, but Seungmin never did. Seungmin saw much more in Minho than others.
And at some point, Minho started to see Seungmin too. Not the way friends are supposed to.
Suddenly, the music in the living room changed to something more slow, relaxing and… sexy. The party was going on for two-three hours already, people started to get tired or extremely drunk. Or both, if you look at Jeongin. Seungmin suddenly stood, not knowing what to do with new music. Minho sighed.
“What I’m gonna do with you?”
Minho grabbed Seungmin’s waist and pulled him closer. Holding him closer than they’ve ever been, Minho guided Seungmin through music’s flow, showing him all the right moves and not letting him go.
Suddenly, the room became a bit hotter than it was before.
“The universe must have divined this,” whispered Minho.
“The universe must’ve been delusional,” answered Seungmin.
Still, Seungmin was letting Minho’s hands lay on his waist, and his own hands on Minho’s neck. So close, Seungmin practically could feel Minho’s breathing.
“So, what’s next?” asked Minho. “Hyunjin’s gonna get drunk and probably gonna sleep right beside Jeongin.”
“And you’re gonna be a good friend and take them home?”
“And you? What’s up with your boyfriend that he’s letting someone else take you home?”
“I’m a big boy and I have two legs, I don’t see a problem.”
“You know,” Minho whispered. “If I could give you some advice, I would leave with me tonight.”
Seungmin didn’t stop dancing, but he was pretty sure that his heart stopped for a second. Was that… flirting? Did Minho-hyung really just flirt with him? Or was that another joke?
Very stupid joke, if you ask Seungmin.
“What is your problem with Hyunjin exactly?”
Of course, watching Minho pissing his pants from their relationship was fun, but at one point Seungmin should’ve remebered that Hyunjin is his best friend and no one, even fucking Lee Minho, had a right to insult his best friend.
“He’s a shitty boyfriend,” said Minho. “He doesn’t treat you well. It pisses me off.”
“You don’t treat me well, hyung.”
“I treat you better than anyone, but thanks for noticing.”
And this was a point of no return for Kim Seungmin. He finally understood what was happening to his beloved hyung.
“Are you… jealous?”
Minho only laughed and smiled. But this smile - you could cut somebody’s veins with this smile. It wasn’t just jealousy, there was something much more.
It was a competition in which Lee Minho’s been losing for a couple of months. Or years, he didn’t really figure it out. But he was sick and tired and finally wanted to win. Or, at least, try to.
“Please, there’s nothing to be jealous of,” Minho leaned closer to Seungmin. There was no space between their faces, no one could hear what they were saying. No one actually gave a shit and Minho gladly took advantage of that.
“I could be a better boyfriend than him,” Minho whispered. “I could do the shit he never did, up all night, I won’t quit. If you just ask me, I could be such a gentleman, you know. Plus,” Minho smiled. “I’m shorter.”
“And how’s that supposed to be your plus?”
“All my clothes would fit.”
Seungmin couldn’t take his eyes off Minho. He was definitely teasing him, but there was something different in his eyes from their usual teasing and bickering.
For a moment Seungmin thought that there was hope.
“So what, you’re gonna steal me from him?”
“You’re not an object,” answered Minho. “I’ll just ask you”
“So why don't you ask?”
“May I kiss you?”
Minho didn’t hear the answer, though he got one. Seungmin pulled him closer and kissed him first. Deeply, drunkenly, and, most importantly, lovingly. Because just like Minho was pissed at Hyunjin for dating Seungmin, Seungmin kept this dating thing just to see the jealousy in Minho’s eyes, though at that time he didn’t know what it was. But he knew now and all the questions were gone.
Seungmin just loved to tease Minho to the point where Minho finally broke.
And thank god it finally happened.
“Guys, I think Seungmin is cheating on Hyunjin with… Minho?! What the fuck?!” there was Jisung’s voice on the other side of the room.
Seungmin broke up the kiss for a moment just to yell “We’re not dating, dumbass, he’s in love with you”.
“Seungmin, what the fuck?!” there was Hyunjin’s voice.
“You’re in love with me?!”
“Seungmin, you little shit! Jisung, I can explain!”
Minho watched Seungmin in shock. Honestly, it was the best thing Seungmin saw in his life.
“He’s gonna thank me later, don’t worry.”
“I guess you really loved the act that you two’ve put up. You really are a little shit, Kim Seungmin, did you know it?” Minho said with a pleased smile. He didn’t believe that he was tricked so easily into believing in something that was absolutely absurd.
Damn you, Kim Seungmin.
“Well, you stole me, so now I’m your little shit, right?” Seungmin smiled in return. “Now, what were you saying about not quitting all night?”
