Omg…I wrote something other than Branjie for once.
Enjoy and be kind, I’m out of my comfort zone. <3

Work Text:

“I don’t want to go to the party.” Bosco crossed their arms over their chest.

“I know but I want you to go to the party.” Willow gave her friend her most charming and dazzling smile, making Bosco roll their eyes.

“And I want to stay home with Netflix and a bowl of popcorn.”

Willow’s smile turned into a pout, eyes pleading for Bosco to reconsider. Instead, Bosco shook their head and started to walk away only stopping when Willow spoke up.

“Daya will be there.”

Bosco whipped around and stared at Willow, who stood there with a smug smile.

“You’re evil.”

“Says the demon queen.”

“I hate you.”

“You wish you could.”

The two friends stared at each other for a moment, neither one backing down.

“Fine,” Bosco conceded, “I’ll go. But if it sucks, I’m leaving.”

Willow cheered and pulled Bosco in for a hug.

“It won’t suck!” She let go and danced down the hall.

Bosco was no stranger to social anxiety, but they told themself that college would be different. They’d try to get out more. This was Willow’s way of helping them.

Bosco and Willow met at freshman orientation when they found out they’d be roommates. They’d been inseparable ever since.

Willow was the only one who truly understood Bosco, at least that’s how Bosco felt. Willow was also the only one who knew about Bosco’s crush on Daya.

Bosco met Daya on move-in day. She had the dorm across the hall from them and Bosco was immediately intrigued. The girl was tall, punk, black hair with pink stripes, and she had the hard shell look with a sweet, soft interior as Bosco would come to know….and love.

Now, here they were, almost to the end of sophomore year and Bosco’s crush was still strong as ever.

“I’d rather be friends with her than make things awkward by telling her how I feel.”

Bosco had said these words to Willow at the beginning of this school year and Willow just shook her head. She knew that Bosco had strong feelings for Daya and she wanted her friend to be happy.

Bosco’s biggest challenge in prep for the party was what to wear. They had two policies when it came to clothing:

Look cool but at the same time like you don’t give a fuck

Show as much skin as possible

With these two things in mind, Bosco was able to find the right outfit for the night- crop top, short shorts, their comfiest vans, and a flannel tied around the waist in case it got cold. They tied their shoulder length curls into a messy bun on top of their head and headed to the common area to meet Willow.

“Well,” Willow started, “if Daya doesn’t hit on you, someone definitely will. Probably me.”

Bosco shook their head and pushed Willow towards the door, “let’s just go please.”

Bosco was a lot of things, but a partier they were not. Not big on drinking in public spaces, the blonde found themself in the corner, nursing one drink as they watched everyone dance. Willow had separated from them early in the night to seek out Kerri, a girl she sometimes hooked up with, leaving Bosco to people watch all alone. Which is okay, they’d find their way back to each other in a bit anyways.

They’d been at the party a little over an hour and Bosco hadn’t seen Daya once. The taller girl kind of stood out from a crowd, so Bosco would definitely see her. They hoped that Willow didn’t lie to them to get them out of the dorm. But Willow wasn’t a liar, therefore, Daya was going to be there at some point in the night. Bosco just needed to be patient.

They had made their way to the landing of the stairs and perched themself off to the side so people could still go up and down. The house was crowded and it was almost too much. Bosco hadn’t seen Willow in probably half an hour- their last view of the small red head was watching them lead Kerri up the stairs. They locked eyes and shared a knowing look with a smirk from Willow. At least one of them would get laid tonight. If this were a different friendship, Bosco would be upset with Willow inviting them out and then ditching them, but they know that Daya will be there at some point, and that was Willow’s main motivation for bringing Bosco along.

The crowd got to be too much so Bosco gathered themself and stood, heading towards the door. The cool night air felt good on their overheated skin. There was such a huge temperature difference from inside to outside. Everyone’s hot air made it hard to manage inside.

Other than a couple making out on the other side of the porch, Bosco was the only one there, and they sat down on the empty porch swing. Time passed and Bosco must have zoned out because the next thing they knew, someone was sitting down next to them on the swing.

“Bored?” The familiar voice was music to Bosco’s ears.

“It’s about time you got here.” Bosco smiled, pulling Daya in for a hug, sighing like it was the best hug they’ve ever had.

“Yeah,” Daya sighed, leaning against her friend, “I had to finish a paper before Cam even thought about letting me leave. Ever since I told her I might fail my English course, she’s been on my ass about my homework.”

“I still don’t know why you need English as a music major but whatever.”

Daya chuckled, “hell if I know. I’m going to get a drink. Need anything?”

Bosco held up the drink in hand and shook their head no.

“I’ll be right back then, don’t go anywhere.”

Daya disappeared into the house. Bosco was chilly in the other girl's absence but it wasn’t long before she was back with her sought after drink.

“This party is insane.” Daya observed, “you come here with Willow?”

“Yeah, she found Kerri a bit ago, though and the last time I saw them they were disappearing upstairs.”

“At least someone is getting laid tonight.”

Bosco let out a laugh, “I thought the same thing!”

“One brain cell.” Daya smiled.

Bosco couldn’t help but stare. Daya was really beautiful. Typically, Bosco wasn’t labeled as ‘soft’ but they were when it came to Daya.

They sat in silence for a moment, stealing glances at each other.

“Wanna play a game?” Daya asked, breaking that silence, a sly smirk on her face.

Bosco raised an eyebrow, “what type of game?”

“Truth or dare?”

“Are we 12?” Bosco laughed, but also their stomach turned with anxiety, “I’m not playing that.”

“Please?” Daya pouted.

Bosco shook their head with exasperation, “you really are 12.”

“Truth or dare?”

Bosco stayed silent.

“Truth…or dare…Bosco?” Daya wasn’t going to give up, Bosco knew it.

They held their breath for a second before saying ‘ truth’ while quickly letting the breath out.

“Is it true you want to kiss me?” Daya’s voice was so strong, and so confident, it made Bosco squeak.

“I meant dare,” Bosco said without thinking, “dare.”

“Ooookay,” Daya giggled, “I dare you to kiss me, then.”

Daya leaned closer only for an exasperated groan to leave Bosco’s lips. This couldn’t possibly be happening.

“Uh,” Bosco started, “never have I ever?”

“That’s literally not even the game, B, what the fuck?” Daya was laughing now and the blonde had no choice but to join in, their own antics getting the best of them.

“Seriously, though,” Daya said once they stopped laughing, “I’ve liked you for a while, and I think you’ve liked me?”

Daya gave Bosco a side glance, who gave a very slight nod in affirmation to what she was saying.

“Please, let me kiss you then.” the taller girl's voice has never been so soft.

Bosco set their drink down and placed a hand on the back of Daya’s head and pulled her close, pressing their lips together. It was soft, heart stopping like a first kiss should be. Parting moments later, they pressed their foreheads together.

“That was..” Bosco trailed off.

“Yeah..” Daya added, smiling.

“Fucking finally !”

The voice came from near the doorway. Neither one had to look up to know that it was Willow.

“It’s about damn time!” Kerri, who had followed Willow out to the porch, clapped her hands.

“Shut up.” was all Bosco could muster, but there was no malice.

Bosco didn’t like parties, but this one wasn’t so bad.
