It’s been a while since Whisper left Restoration HQ. Ever since then, she’s been looking for Mimic. Unfortunately, there has been no sign of him anywhere, well it’s not like he would be easy to track anyway. When you can change into anyone, might as well be impossible. But even then, the wolf did not falter. Either he comes to her or she finds him, one way or another, she will make sure he stays locked behind bars this time. Now, her search has led her back to a familiar place, Spiral Hill Village. This was where she chased Mimic when he was disguised as Sonic. She almost had him until… Until Tangle stopped her. Whisper sighed… She didn’t want to leave her friend but she had to! With her former teammate on the loose and him trying to kill her, she was a liability to those around her, regardless of how strong they may be. She looked to the side and noticed she was standing in front of Jewel’s shop, however, it was closed. Most likely due to Jewels taking over the Restoration HQ.
Whisper didn’t know why he was here exactly. It’s not like Mimic to go through a place he went through before. He was smart and carefully planned where he would be next, one of the reasons why he’s so hard to track down. Maybe she came here because it was familiar? Or maybe she wanted to take a break from looking all around Mobuis for the shapeshifter… Oh, who’s she kidding! She knew exactly why she came here. She wanted to-
“Hey! Wolf girl!” Suddenly, she heard someone call out to her. She turned her head to see it was a chili dog vendor. She pointed a finger at herself.
“There are no other wolf girls around here, yeah I’m talking to you!” The vendor said. The wolf hesitated for a bit, before slowly walking to the cart.
“You’re one of Tangle’s friends, right?” The cat mobian asked. Whisper's body tense up a bit before nodding and speaking.
“...Yes.”
“I knew it. You fit the description Tangle gave me to a T. Well, lemur girl has been looking for you. She was in town yesterday asking if you by chance passed by here. You didn’t yesterday but look, you’re here now!” Wait, Tangle was looking for her? She told her to stay away, she didn’t need another one of her friends to get hurt!
“I’m sorry. Need to get going.” Whisper turned and quickly headed to the entrance of the village.
“Hey! At least wait for he- Speaking of the ring-tailed devil herself, here she comes!” Near the entrance, the lemur had just arrived in the village with her bike. Whisper was shocked and instead of leaving the village as she was about to, she turned around completely and ran deeper into the town. On the other hand, Tangle rolled her bicycle to the side of her with a tired look on her face. She placed the bike down and put her head on the vendor’s cart.
“Ughhhhh… I looked everywhere and not one sight of her! That girl is really good at keeping herself out of sight when she wants to. Don, hook me up with two chili dogs, please? I need an energizer…” The lemur asked.
“Well, I don’t know if she’s that good…”
“Huh? What are you talking about Don?”
“Your friend. I just saw her. She just ran into town once she saw you, as a mat-”
“WHAT!? YOU SAW WHISPER?! WHERE DID SHE GO?!” She should as she instantly stood up and slammed her hands on the cart. The vendor was shaking in fear by her sudden outburst but shakingly put his hand up, pointing to the inside of the village.
“Thanks, Don! I’ll make sure to pay you double the price for the chili dogs when I get back!” She said as she ran into town. Meanwhile, Whisper was trying to find a way to leave the town. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find another exit anywhere. That was when she heard her…
“WHISPERRRRRRRR! IT’S ME! TANGLEEEEEEEEE!” The lemur shouted. Everyone looked at her as she ran her full speed towards her. She needed to do something, fast! She pointed her wispon up, expecting the green wisp to inside… But it didn’t! Well, it eventually did, but it took longer than it would take for the wisp to switch out. A transparent green umbrella shape formed around her Wispon and she was lifted into the sky and landed on the roof. Tangle watched as her friend run away from her which confused her a bit… Wait. Don did say she started running when she appeared. Why was she running? Hold on… Something like this happened before… Was this Mimic?! Whisper did say he escaped when she... Left the Restoration… Ugh, never mind that! Would this guy really come to this place after she and her Whisper kicked his butt? Guess there’s only one way to find out! Tangle used her tail to climb up the building and chased after her “friend”. The wolf continued to run until suddenly, she saw something covering her and heard a familiar voice.”
“One air tackle coming right up!” With that, the lemur tackled the wolf. Whisper was pinned to the ground while Tangle was on top of her.”
“Alright Mimic! This is the end for you! I locked you up once and I can do it again!... Wait a minute…” The lemur looked at “Mimic’s” hands. They were normal… Aren’t there supposed to be suction cups on his hands? Hold up…
“WHISPER?!” The lemur shouted as she looked down at the wolf who nodded with a blush on her face. She immediately got up and began to apologize immediately. Her face was completely red.
“Omigoshimsosorry! I thought you were Mimic!”
“...It’s okay…”
“B-But if you aren’t him… Why did you run from me?” Tangle asked. Whisper didn’t say anything and turned around.
“I’m your friend. Didn’t you miss me?” The wolf continued to stay silent, but her wisps didn’t. They left their capsules and began to hug and rub against the lemur, saying things she couldn’t understand.
“Well, these guys definitely did! Hey, quit it!” She said as she tried to pet and hug all of them. Whisper broke her silence by sighing.
“I… I did. But I told you…”
“That you’re a liability? You’ll get us hurt? Whisper, I know you’re scared of losing us but you can’t just cut m- US out of your life and handle everything. We’re your friends and we want to help you. What if you get hurt? Who will take care of you then?” Whisper didn’t say anything. Suddenly, Tangle grabbed her by the shoulder and turned her around. She grabbed her hands.
“I know how hard it is for you to make friends, but you can just not have friends for the rest of your life! Friends are there to help you when things get rough, help support you, and love you unconditionally! Her face grew a few shades brighter saying that last part.
“What I’m saying is that everyone back at Restoration HQ wants to help support you through this and we all love you. Most importantly… I love you Whisper!” Everything went silent for a few seconds. There was a massive awkward smile on the lemur’s blushing face as she sweated bullets.
“Was that a… Confession?” Whisper asked with a blush on her face as well.
“Yyyyyeeeeesssss…?” Her smile got bigger and even more awkward. The wolf looked down which made the lemur scared of her response. Suddenly, the wolf put her head up and gave Tangle a quick kiss on the lips.
“I love you too.” Tangle was blushing so bright that she felt as if she was going to collapse, but her tail managed to keep her standing.
“O-Oh! OH WOW! I… I didn’t expect that! Could’ve at least given me a heads up!” The lemur said as the wolf chuckled.
“Sorry.” She responded with a smile.
“Don’t worry! I was shocked but that was AMAZING! I didn’t even expect you to say yes! My heart is racing, not even going on adventures made me feel like this…” The sound of wisp could be heard above them, they were flying around happily, saying something. The lemur looked up.
“They look happy too! I wonder what they’re saying.”
“See for yourself.” Whisper took off her mask and put it on Tangle. Some were saying congratulations, some saying I love you too the lemur, and some even saying they knew this would happen. She chuckled.
“Aw, you guys! Come here!” Tangle opened her arms as all the wisp flew into them and hugged her. Her eyes then opened as she looked over to Whisper.
“Wait, does this mean you’ll come back to the Restoration?”
“No.”
“HUH? Why not?”
“Need to find Mimic.”
“Could I possibly tag along…?
“...Yes.”
“Yeah! It’s time for another Whisper and Tangle mission!” The two smiled, as well as the wisps. She hand back the mask and they both jumped off the roof as they headed for the exit. Their hands were interlocked as they walked down the plaza. As they walked, Tangle looked at the wolf.
“Why are you in Spiral Hill anyway? I don’t think Mimic is that dumb enough to scout the same place twice.” The lemur said.
“Correct… The truth is… I wanted to see you again…” She said as she blushed and looked away. Suddenly, the lemur stopped and looked down. The wolf was ready to ask what was wrong, but she looked back at the wolf with a big smile and teary eyes. She hugged the wolf and kissed her.
“UGH, You’re so cute! I’m so glad you’re my girlfriend. Come on, let’s go!” The energetic lemur pulled her arm and they were on their way out of the village.
