Chapter Text

The cold night of Hawkins welcomed friends in pair

The stillness of silence, dark throughout the air

Bikes o'er hills green with grass

And boys young in age, eyeing the stars

Will, survivor among friends, gazed the other's face

The chiseled visage of Mike, thin and pensive

[on these days

His heart swelled as the night went by

Looking at the stars in Wheeler's eyes

"You're missing the shooting stars, Will" - said the noble friend.

Nonsense, Will thought, moving not his gaze.

For ambrosial was the irises' of Mike's sight

Like the very wine-dark night sky.

T'was long till time came of Mike moving then
Noticing the look in Will, most-beloved friend.

"What's wrong?" asked Wheeler, of the nightlike eyes,

"Nothing" said Will, winged-Love at his side.

The stars shot through, raining from the ether,

As Mike's face met the other in gaze most divine.

"This is perfect" said Will, a secret blooming in his chest,

asking to be freed, to fly towards Mike and nest.

"Yeah" said Mike, noticing his bashful look
"But better, I say, it could be"

dared the dark-haired biker.

"How come?" asked Will, red as the apple that

The birds feast upon, found o'er the grass after

The galloping winds throw their bodies

at the leaves, most green.

A phrase made of secret, slipped from Mike within:

"You look at me like you have something to share"

Will sighed at what was said, for he would not dare.

But Mike stood there

finding the light in his eyes, all starlike.

"I have a wish to make upon a star" Byers confessed

For the desire, winged and golden, would not leave his chest.

"Close the eyes and pray, Will" said Mike in the end

Breeze-gentle laugh left the survivor's mouth,

trusting his friend under the stars moving around.

And darkness covered his view, like a sky with no stars

Like Mike's eyes in a day without comets abound

And desire spoke the wish, silent as the breeze.

Alas, for this one could not be fulfilled.

Lips meeting his very own

Will felt the gentle dream take form in his hands

As Mike touched him, tender like he's known

The map to Will's heart all along.

Eyes still closed and lips parted ways

The tingling in the chest, made Will dazed.

"I can see the stars" said he, laughing as the wind.

Mike embraced him close, his heart beating from within.

["so do I."
