“Is it wired…”
“Weird how?”
“That he’s gone and you’re here?”
“It’s always been a strange thought to know exactly how he felt as it all faded away”
The view from the park was probably one of the best in the city, the sun had fallen below the horizon only two minutes prior, the landscape was falling into shades of blue and eventually to the black of night. Stars were a rarity in large cities like that and no night seems to be an exception at least not for long.
“You never told me the story”
“I tried to avoid it myself, it was so incredibly unfair, if I could trade places with him I would without a second thought”
“But you can’t”
“I know…”
The city lights were beginning to light up the sky as it fell fast towards nightfall, street lights and skyscrapers began to light up the basin they were built upon. Roads like circuit boards electrified once more into the dark.
“No one deserves to go through that, you or him, none of you got it fair, you made sure he was never forgotten even without knowing it, I couldn’t have stayed as nice as you ever did in any of those situations, you know…I doubt most people could”
The street lights throughout the park automatically turned on when the dark overtook the city as the light from the setting sun had long since resided across the ocean.
“you honor his life, he couldn’t have had anyone better”
“I just want the fighting to stop”
“One day it will”
He looked away out towards the city, watching the traffic exit and enter the CBD, all so careless to their conversation. Sometimes he wishes he was able to forget and begin again.
“You look lost”
“Maybe a bit”
“If you need anything, anything at all I will gladly listen and try my best to help… you know that right?”
“I know, I’m just so tired, tired of everything”
“I don’t blame you”
