“BWAHAHAHA” Felicity bellowed, slapping her drink on the table.
Kelly furrowed her brows and puffed out her red cheeks in embarrassment, “What’s so funny about what I said?!” Kelly glared at the chortling red-head.
Kaleb and Trixie swallowed their laughter desperately while Dexter was snickering to himself.
“It’s just-” Felicity started, cutting herself off to heave another breath, “You thought the sun was on fire!”
“Is- is it not?” Kelly bit back, nervously glancing at Timothy in confusion.
Felicity started laughing again, not bothering to answer Kelly inquiry and clearly relishing in the first mistake she’s seen her make. Trixie simply put her hands on her face, not wanting Kelly to see her laugh. Dexter started laughing even more, enjoying Kelly’s apparent misery.
Kaleb calmed down to notice that Timothy wasn’t joining in on the fun, instead spacing out with a dopey grin on his face.
“Uh, Timothy?” he prodded Timothy’s face gently with a finger, it caught everyone’s attention.
Timothy yelped in surprise as he was brought back to reality, “Huh? Yeah, what?” he stammered.
Kaleb blinked, bringing his hand back to his glass. “You seemed to be spacing out there, the alcohol getting to you already?” Kaleb punctuated his sentence by taking a sip of his beer.
“Oh no, I’m fine, it’s just…” Timothy trailed off as he started to space out again. The others looked at each other in confusion but Dexter carefully tapped his shoulder. “Oh, uh-” Timothy started again. “I’m just enjoying this.”
“Enjoying what?” Kelly asked, “Enjoying these filthy bullies torment me?”
“You deserve it.” Felicity quickly replied.
“No, not that. Although that is funny.” Timothy said to Kelly’s dismay, “I think we’re finally becoming friends.”
Trixie stood up in excitement, almost falling over because she was wobbly from the alcohol in her system, “Really?! We’re friends now?!” she slurred, tapping her hands on the table as she hopped in place.
Kelly’s shocked face turned into a grimace, “As if, I’ve never be friends with these mindless idiots.” she glared at Kaleb and Felicity in particular.
Dexter gave Timothy a worried look, “Timmy, I hate them, barring Trix.” That earned a little “Yay!” from Trixie.
“Now, now.” Timothy chided with a grin, “I can see it on your faces and in the way you talk!” Timothy stood, as if to make a decree, “We are all friends now!”
That earned a sigh from Kelly and Dexter, but all the others cheered.
Timothy sat back down as they all started arguing again, taking a swig from his drink, he smiled.
Looking at his friends, prickly and bubbly, open and reserved, old and new, Timothy could feel that meaning flood into his life again.
