Little One.

Summary:

Deltarune.

An experiment just like all the other experiments beforehand.

Albeit, Gaster grew tired of the same thing.

He wanted something... new, for a change.

A bit of Light, a bit of Dark.

And one who was in between.

Work Text:

Nearly complete was the experiment of Dr. Wingdings Gaster. A man lost across time and space, in adventure of the unknown and unanswered. Though, he himself wouldn't say he lost physically. Rather, mentally. His unending thirst for invaluable knowledge about the very CORE meaning of life itself has left him to rot with far more questions. But he feared not knowing, and created theories to know. He created theories to help him dwell, walk, live with the dark, darker, yet darker knowledge he has learnt. However, it wasn't only theories that he created to help suffice all that he has lost within him.

Gaster has learned so much and so little, and with what he had learned about the physics, mechanics and driving force of reality, has allowed for him to create and destroy. To create... a new universe, a new multiverse. Beings within it filled with life. Those filled with a life he so lost all those long, long, forgotten years ago. Those bestowed upon with a name many would know, and many would forget, just as it has happened with his name. Beings fabricated into existence, under an experiment he called...

Deltarune.

Deltarune was it's name.

This universe, this... experiment, it was all complete. It was all programmed to go as it should. But Gaster felt it lacked... being unique. Being one of it's own. Gaster has created many more experiments like this before, but it was all the same thing. All the same physics, laws, and that. But he wanted something unique. Something... thrilling. Something to make this next experiment very, very, interesting.

Dark and Light worlds.

Yes. It was perfect. The world shined upon the light could be, by choice of those who dwelled in the light, temporarily split into a world blinded by the dark. With surrounding objects being turned into those able to dwell in the dark. But, spilling too much darkness would cause the light to fade. To cease. An event he termed... "The Roaring". An event that he programmed would be caused by... a knight. A puppet, with him as the puppeteer. One would be programmed to begin The Roaring, whilst one would be programmed to warn others and stop of it.

Gaster already had within his mind who would be chosen to unleash The Roaring, but also within his mind lacked who he would choose to stop it. He began skimming over the characters he had created, in hopes he would find a suitable candidate.

The one who had been emptied out? No.
The one who had been broken? No.
The one who lacks self determination? No.
The one who lacks selflessness? No.

The scientist roared. How could he have created so much yet, not find the one he needed?
"No matter." He said to himself. "I can create."

And so, the scientist turned away from his machinery and equipment, to stare out into the open. With hands behind back, his eyes shut, and he allowed for his mind to be free to imagine. Imagine who he needed to fit the role of the so called "hero" for this experiment. Slowly, as the scientist began to shape a thought for this character, he extended out one hand just before him, and another higher of the other hand.

"Yes. Perfect. Exactly how I want it to be."

The scientist slowly moves his hands further apart from each other in a vertical manner. A move he has done numerous times. Millions, or maybe even billions. A move that allowed for one with utmost knowledge and determination, could bring in a new consciousness out from the plane of nothingness. To know. To feel. To experience.

The light slowly began taking shape. Part of the light morphed in paws, part of the light morphed into a robe, part of the light morphed into horns, part of the light morphed into a snout.

The light had morphed into... a goat.

"Dark... and Light."

With those words, the light turned gray.

The Scientist opened his eyes.

The light demanifested, and what was left in it's wake, was what Gaster wanted.

Before him floated a goat. A goat just as he had imagined. White, fluffy, with pink eyes, horns and green, slightly oversized glasses. All that was accompanied with a Green robe and Pink scarf. Above the goat's head, was a hat. A hat that bore the same color as his robe. A hat that could magically turn the goat's fur black.

"Wonderful. Truly... Wonderful."
"Awaken."

Through that command, the new consciousness, the new life, the new being began to see. To hear, smell, taste, and feel.

"Huh..."
"I..."
"Where..."
"Who..."
"H-huh?"
"What's going on?"
"Be not afraid."
"Wh-who are you?"
"I am who has created you."
"Crea... created?
"Yes. I have allowed for you to exist."
"Please, call me... Gaster."

Albeit overwhelmed, the being shook Gaster's hand. It didn't know why it felt obliged to do such though. It never knew beforehand. Perhaps it was given knowledge by he who shook with him. The being was also scared and confused. It knew not where it was, who it was or what it was. All it knew was that, it now existed. And how it existed had conversed with it.

"You have... quite a lot of questions."
"How do you-"
"I know more than you could."
"However, all you need to know is that..."
"You are to warn of The Roaring. With a foretold prophecy passed down generations."
"O... kay..."
"You will know the details entirely when it is given to you."
"So, um, what... what am I?"
"You are... a goat. A prince."
"A prince who is caring. Loving. Shy. Adorable. Fluffy."
"A prince who will be loved by the Lightners."
"Where you are does not matter to you. But, I see that, you desire to know. All I can say is that, you reside within a place I personally call the "Mindscape". I myself hold not the knowledge of what this place truly is, and the mechanics to it's workings."

The conversation went silent. As it did, Gaster turned away from the prince, and back to his machinery. He began rechecking the long, overly complex string of code he had written for the experiment.

"What about... my, um, n-name, Mr. Gaster?" Asked the still confusingly overwhelmed goat prince. "Shouldn't I have a name?" He added.

Gaster, who was checking some statistics on one of the machinery's screens, halted what he was doing, and turned his head a bit to the right to look back at the prince.

"Your name... Of course, how could I forget."

Gaster fully turned around to face the prince before him. Seeing Gaster perform an action instantaneously terrified the prince. He wished not to anger Gaster, for the prince knew he who stood before him was he who created him. Birthed him. Molded him into the very fabric of existence. And to anger him meant the end of him.

Albeit, on Gaster's face, bore no anger. It bore a small smile. Gaster slowly moved to him, and when he was right in front of him, he kneeled down, so his face could meet that of his creation's.

"Your name..." He calmly said. "It shall consist of three."

His holed right hand found itself on the prince's left shoulder.

"Ralsei Reudmerr."

The hand lifted. And Ralsei gleed. Happy that, such an elegant name was bestowed upon him. Ralsei was still confused, however. He had his name, yet, it counted 2, when Gaster said it would be 3.

"Th-thank you, Mr. Gaster!"
"But, um..."
"Hmm? Do you not favor such that I have given you?"
"N-no, um, it's just, you gave me 2, but, hadn't you decided I be given 3?"
"Ah, right. Well, you see, Ralsei, it shall not be given now. In fact, I myself cannot give it. Instead, you will find it come to you during your tenure."
"Huh... okay... but, can I at least know where it would be? When it would be given or found? O-or at least what it sounds like?"
"I can only answer one. And, it will sound like..."
"Holiday."
"Holiday?"
"Yes. It sounds just as elegant as does your current name, does it not?"
"Oh, absolutely!"
"Well, our time seems to fall short, Ralsei. Please, remember all that I have said."
"Wait, Mr. Gaster?"
"Yes?"
"Will the Lightners... really like me?"
"Of course. I am absolutely sure of it."
Gaster grabs Ralsei's hat and has him wear it.

"My dear prince."

Notes:

This is my first time writing Gaster stuff so, apologies if it's wonky. Plus, I wrote some parts of this late at night or whilst tired.
