Work Text:

A bad case of the shakes. Sure, that’s all it was, right? And it ended up with Terra in Amahiko’s room, flailing his hands, pacing across the floor. Amahiko didn’t mind, either, as they paced back and forth. Their hands shook and flailed, eyes wide and almost unblinking.

“You sure you’re alright, my love?” Amahiko asked. He was putting away some laundry, and observing as Terra had their little fit. The poor thing couldn’t stop moving, anxiety filling their body. Hell, even when they tried to stop moving, their body twitched over and over again— their tics hadn’t been this bad in a while.

“I’m sorry, I think I’ll be okay in a little I’m just.. yeah.. sorry.” Terra apologized, lacking their usual confidence, voice shaky and loud.

“You’re okay. Just tell me if I can help at all, hm?” Amahiko offered, and Terra nodded in response, offering thanks.

Terra paced, and shook out their hands. Their tics made them twitch— they shook their head, twitched forward. Amahiko couldn’t help but worry that they might hurt themself by accident. He’d be there to help in the case that they did. Amahiko eventually laid down, watching Terra pace and shake.

“Love, you should lay down and breathe for a little.. I’m sure you’ve gotten most of your nervous energy out now? Just come relax, lay with me..” Amahiko encouraged him to come relax, to take a breath.

Terra sighed deeply, one last tic surging through them before they laid down. Their shaking form dented the sheets, as Amahiko pulled them close. “Come, love.” A hand moved softly, slowly up Terra’s arm. “In,” he encouraged them to breathe, inhaling deeply in an exemplary fashion. “Out.” Amahiko exhaled out. As the hand moved up their arm, they breathed as instructed.

“Good..” Amahiko praised softly, as Terra allowed themself to settle a little. Without a thought, Terra stated— “I need something to hold.”

“Well love, you can hold me if you want-“ Amahiko offered, but was politely shut down. “No, dearest, I mean I need something. Don’t make fun of me. I’ll be right back.” Terra stated, and was already getting up to swiftly grab something from their room. They returned with a soft stuffed cat, that they curled in their arms as they went to lay back down in the bed.

“A stuffed cat, hm?” Amahiko observed with a soft smile. “Shush. Her name is Terra Junior.” They cuddled the soft plushie in their arms, breathing more evenly and softer than before. Amahiko let out a chuckle, one of amusement and love. He wasn’t judging, only admiring. Terra caught onto this, however, found it more entertaining to playfully huff at him for it.

The two laid there, not touching too much, but comfortable in each other’s presence. Terra had finally relaxed, which allowed Amahiko to relax as well, knowing that his partner was no longer very anxious, and able to rest. And rest they both did, knowing the other would be there whenever either of them woke up.
