The want to...

Summary:

Nagi was back in Japan, back home. Being here again with everyone, with Mitsuki, made him realize a few things.

Notes:

Happy Nagimitsu day! For today I write two fanfics for my I7 OTP! I don't know how good they are, probably this one could have been extending more, but I don't have the writing skill for it, but I loved writing it anyway, it was fun to imagine Nagi thoughts of process.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Nagi finished unpacking his last cartons. Finally, he was back to Japan, back to Idolish7, back home. As he settled his last Kokona figurines, he heard someone knock on his door. Soon after, Mitsuki opened the door:

"Dinner is ready." He said before stepping in, looking at Nagi's stuff.

When Nagi looked back at him, he saw that Mitsuki was on the verge of crying.

"Oh, Mitsuki, everything alright?"

The older boy muttered something that Nagi couldn't hear. But before the blond-haired boy could ask to repeat, Mitsuki launched himself toward him and hugged him.

"You're here, truly here, right?" he muttered again, as if speaking it louder would make Nagi disappear.

"Yes, I'm here Mitsuki, I'm here" Nagi muttered back, holding Mitsuki closer to him.

Nagi felt Mitsuki squeezed himself even closer. It felt so good to be able to hold Mitsuki in his arms again. He didn’t truly realize when he was in North Meir, but he did miss the older boy, so much.

He missed his laugh, his smile, his cooking, his eyes, hearing his voice, whatever it was when he sang or scolded him. Not only that, but he missed the way Mitsuki rolled his eyes as he asked to watch Kokona, yet continued to watch with him, the way his smile grew big when he was talking about Zero. He missed his tiny figure, yet his manly aura. He missed all of him.

"Nagi, welcome home."

"Yes, I'm home."

The smile on Mitsuki's face when he answered wake something in Nagi. The smile was so bright and happy, Nagi found himself to think he wanted to see this smile every day for the rest of his life. But he also wanted to…

"Nagi, you're coming for dinner? Better hurry before Tamaki or Riku grow impatient." The older boy asked him.

"Ah, I have one last thing to clean, I am coming shortly after."

"Kay, but do it quickly before nothing is left."

Once Mitsuki was out of his room, Nagi fell on his bed.

He wanted to kiss Mitsuki.

He wanted to kiss Mitsuki, he thought again as the cognition settled in. His heart started to pound in his chest. His cheeks felt hot.

Nagi wanted to say that it was nothing, he couldn't mean anything, it was just an urge of the moment, that's all.

But the urge was so strong, so real, he couldn’t ignore it. But why did he want to kiss Mitsuki, he asked himself.

His brain was a wreck, just like his emotions. Why did he want to kiss Mitsuki, he couldn’t have wanted to kiss another boy? Not only was it another boy, but it was also one of his best friends.

Then he started to think about all the time he spent with Mitsuki. How it made him feel good and warm inside. How he made him happy in a way he rarely was. It was like watching samurai movies with his mom when he was a kid yet different. A sense of familiarity yet something else too.

Being with Mitsuki felt completely different from when he was with Haruki, or the rest of his friends for that matter. Being around Mitsuki felt so right, like it was the place Nagi was always meant to be.

"But I’m greedy. I can’t do with just being your fan. I want you to be my partner. I can’t say I’d be glad if you were happy somewhere else. Let’s do it together. Let’s overcome this together."

Nagi blushed as he remembered Mitsuki saying that. Spending the rest of his life with him, always helping with each other's problems, sounds like a dream.

As he thought of that, his eyes laid on a Kokona keychain. It was a keychain he originally gave to Mitsuki. In reality, he asked Thorvald to put it in Mitsuki’s room when he took all his stuff. He wanted Mitsuki to have something to remember Nagi when they would be apart. A memory of their time spending together, that he thought was over.

But it wasn’t over, and he came back to him. Nagi smiled as he remembered Mitsuki giving him the keychain back, telling him that he better stay with him, that now it will be his lucky charm.

He remembered the warm feelings that spread into his body, his heart, just like earlier. How his heart beat faster, how blinding Mitsuki was. It didn’t pay any attention at that time, but now it finally hit him. It all made sense now, all the feelings he felt toward Mitsuki, how whatever he did anything with him it became enjoyable. Nagi fell in love with Mitsuki.

Slowly, Nagi took the lucky charm and murmured: “I’m in love with Mitsuki.”

Saying it out loud, making it even more real in Nagi’s mind and helping him accept the truth. A peaceful feeling overcame into Nagi, as the realization settled through. Then he gently kissed the lucky charm, he knew he couldn’t kiss the older boy yet, but this will be close enough. At least until Nagi found a way to confess to him.

Notes:
