The picture on his hands brings to him the fulfillment he never thought he would have some day. The photo was taken by another person but every time Jaemin sees it he can only think about how intimate and simple the photo is. How the photographer captured the young people that are so small in comparison to the vast blue sky behind them, the simple closeness brought by an arm on the shoulder, and the simplicity of the moment they were living. All those things bring to Jaemin a recollection of that moment that was so simple and so important, and it makes him wish to be in that moment again.
Those moments were like a dream, a perfect dream filled with love and tenderness and excitement for what was to come. Except at the same time he doesn't want that, he doesn't want to turn to the past again because that was only the beginning, the start of their life as one.
Jaemin remembers vividly the colors he once saw and he swears he will never forget them. The bright color of the sun, the vivid blue of the sky, the impeccable aquamarine of the vast sea, and the tender tan his lover's body got from so many days out exploring a thousand miles of shiny sand that surrounded the beach closer to their bungalow. Those colors represent how beautiful and multicolored his life was becoming, the once dull colors never seemed so bright for Jaemin, and from that moment on, he never felt more brilliant.
The photos that he took are just a small part of memories of their first alone moments out in the world. Jaemin treasures those photos of him and his lover, of the things they saw, of glimpses of moments where he could feel himself falling even more in love. He treasures them because he knows someday the photos will be the ones telling the story of how they fell in love and he found his forever home in the warm embrace of his lover.
The honeymoon was magical and Jaemin felt as if every time he looked at his husband his heart was going to explode out of his chest, the same feeling he felt at the beginning of their relationship. The butterflies in his tummy, his heart beating strong, his breath short and his cheeks hurting from how much he was smiling made him remember their first meeting, their first date, and first kiss but at that moment Jaemin knew that his choice was the right one, a dream he would live forever.
And he can't believe how sweet, how magical his life is. The Jaemin from nine years ago wouldn't imagine in his wildest dreams how he would be living, with the love of his life staying less than a foot away, so close and so warm. And even now Jaemin sometimes can't grasp his reality, what he is living, all the things he gets to do, and, most importantly, having someone he cherishes, loves, and trusts completely together with him at all times. Sometimes Jaemin can't get enough of it, of thinking about how lucky he is for having the joy of finding the one who makes him a better person and for feeling that is the same thing his lover feels.
The feeling of being right, of their relationship being right, didn't fade, and as the years passed Jaemin can't even think about it fading. And even when they have disagreements it doesn't matter because they are meant to be. Since the first time their eyes touched their souls connected too, and every second after their first meeting was only a matter of time for them to fall deeper and deeper. There isn't a single day Jaemin regrets his choices, that he regrets falling off a cliff he didn't know where it would head, because as he found love, he ended up finding himself.
Tenderly cradling the photo Jaemin remembers what he was photographing. The little turtles running, using all their forces to live, to get to their beginning and forever in the immensity of the sea. He smiles with the thought that the little turtle's beginning was their own beginning and forever too.
"What are you looking over there?" The unused calm voice of his husband resonates in their bedroom, his eyes adjusting to the serene light of the morning sun that bathes them from the cracks in the curtains.
"Was just looking at our honeymoon pictures…" Jaemin says, his smile directed towards the one who has his heart ricocheting as if it was the first time.
"Really?" The man laughs quietly, eyes crinkled in the smile that Jaemin loves so much, "I like to see them too. They make me remember our marriage," he snorted, eyes looking directly at Jaemin's. And Jaemin is a weak, weak, man for the love of his life so he gets closer, burrowing in the cozy personal space of his husband with hands on his chest and arms and as always bringing him even closer, with his eyes focused on the same boyish smile he fell for. "Of how much I loved you and still love you…" his husband continues, tender smile and even more tender eyes directed towards Jaemin's blushing face and Jaemin gets even closer, noses touching gently.
"I love you too" Jaemin whispers lovingly "And I always will, Jeno."
