Work Text:
rikki chadwick has captured emma’s attention.
maybe it was her fashion sense.
maybe it was the way she called her “em,”
maybe it was the way that cleo described rikki jumping into zane bennett’s boat that day.
how she leapt into it, sparkplug in hand. just to spite him. rikki fixed the boat right in front of him. just to spite him.
certainly, she ran on a combination of spontaneity and a short temper.
how she took the reigns, taking the three of them on a joy ride. how she pushed them further and further out to see without a care.
she’s reckless-
how she slid down into the moon pool without a second thought.
-but somehow endearing.
emma swam out to sea to get them out of there. to get back home, obviously, but rikki brought out something in her.
but emma couldn’t let loose. she wouldn’t allow it. structure and planning had gotten her this far, after all. someone had to be the responsible friend.
and that someone was her.
it’s not like she couldn’t be spontaneous!
it’s just that…every time she did, it turned out horrendous!
(that dye job was atrocious. bright red does not suit her)
and that party that went way out of hand?
it’s easier to be safe.
rikki can take the lead on their wilder adventures.
it’s not like emma minded or anything. she admired rikki more then she’d ever admit.
she just wished that they’d spend more time together.
alone.
cleo is nice and everything, but she just can’t get any time with rikki!
rikki was so many things she wasn’t. they were the definition of polar opposites. but it worked so well!
maybe if they were the only two on mako that night, things would be different.
maybe they would be closer.
emma wished they were alone together, just the two of them.
