Chapter Text
“Captain Levi, you’re here!” Gabi ran to meet him.
“Where’s Hange?” He looked past her, not hiding the disgust on his face.
“She’s in her room.”
He walked into the house. “Hange, where are you?”
“Levi, you’re here?” Hange saw him standing in the kitchen, he had come to her home for the first time.
“The Queen wants to see you. Let’s go. I have horses for you and the four brats.”
“Levi, what is going on? Talk to me, you haven’t even come by in the months we’ve been here.”
“You decided that you wanted to have those brats.” He walked back outside to his horse.
“Kids, let’s go with the Captain we’ll be back soon.”
“Mom, do we need to take extra clothes?” Udo asked, walking outside.
“If we need anything we can get it in the city.”
‘She’s letting those brats call her ‘Mom’, she’s finally lost it and Moblit worried about her with the Titans.’ Levi looked at the teens as they mounted the horses, well three of them did, and the blonde girl fell.
Hange walked over to Zofia. “Come on, put your foot in my hand and I’ll help you up.”
“Thanks, Mom.”
“Always.”
Levi raced ahead of them, wanting to get as far as he could from the cabin, the cabin that Hange had originally pitched as theirs.
They rode to the Capital which was only a few hours ride, things remained silent the whole time.
Levi lead them directly to the palace stables, dismounting before all the teens had made it in.
“There was a tea shop back there, can we go before we leave?” Udo asked.
“Yes, you should ask Captain Levi about the tea, he has talked about opening a tea shop.” Hange told him.
“Gabi says I’m weird because I don’t like coffee. Would you be able to take me?”
Levi looked at him. “No.” He began walking into the palace.
Hange followed after him. ‘What the hell is going on with him? He’s never been personable, but this is strange even for him.’ “Come on, kids.”
The silence had been bearable when they were on the horses, but in the echoing halls of the royal palace, it was all-consuming.
Gabi looked at her mom, she wasn’t wearing her eye patch. She nudged Falco.
He looked at her.
She gestured to Hange.
His eyebrow went up.
She covered her left eye.
Udo and Zofia looked from Gabi to Hange.
“Mom, I grabbed your patch before we left.” Zofia said, running up to Hange.
“Oh, thank you dear.” Hange pulled her glasses off to place the eye patch.
Levi slowly turned his head to the left. He hadn’t even noticed that Hange didn’t have her eye patch on when he arrived. ‘When had she stopped wearing it all day? Most days she had fallen asleep with it on.’
“So why are we here?” Hange looked over at him.
“That’s a question for Historia.”
Gabi, Falco, Zofia, and Udo exchanged looks, Hange sounded angry.
