Chapter: 01 Not for the Faint of Heart

It was late at night in LA. Dr. Frakes was busy at work adjusting a laser.

"Doctor?"

"Terri? You're still here?" Frakes asked.

"Yeah, I brought the Chinese food like you asked." Terri, the young blue-haired scientist, held up the food.

"Right, right."

"Ah, what are you working on?"

"It's a new project," Frakes told her assistant. "Our benefactor sought out my expertise," She brought out a small container holding a spider. "He's brought me something that I believe might magnify, alter, or enhance physical traits. With the proper equipment, we might use it to alter biology itself." Franke slipped some goggles over her eyes.

"What, how's that possible? Manipulation or morphic field or?"

Frake didn't bother to listen as she flipped the switch zapping the container, the container itself seemed to vaporize almost instantly, and the spider seemed to squeal in pain. Frakes turned off the laser.

She looked at the spider, wondering if that had killed it. "I suppose we will have to do a dissection."

Frakes took out a pen and went to poke it but found herself unable. The spider's leg jolted, pushing away at the pen. Frakes pushed in, but suddenly the pen was pushed back. Before she knew it, she was forced back. The spider was scurrying away.

"Terri! Get that spider!"

Terri said, "Spider?"

Terri was stunned and bordering blinded. The laser was so bright she blinded her for the moment. Terri had managed to turn away, preventing permanent blindness. Terri swung the bags of Chinese food around, trying to get what she barely saw on the fringes of her sight. The spider managed to jump on one of the bags and got spun around. They landed on a nearby tank; before anything could be done, Terri swung and knocked down the tank opening it up. Before anything could be done, a small pink frog jumped out, and its tongue quickly grabbed the spider. Before her eyes, Frakes saw the frog eat this spider.

Terri was still swinging wildly, and Frank managed to catch the frog. Frakes had half a mind to crush the frog in her hands for her trouble, but she noticed something strange as she was about to. Its skin had been pink, but a blue pattern like a spider materialized on its back.

Frake smiled, "Maybe you will be worth the trouble."

Anne Boonchuy was a typical student and not so great in science class. Usually, she'd try to bum off Marcy, but her grades were slipping, and Varsity Tennis would drop her if she didn't pick them up. Her teacher gave her an extra credit assignment to help. Marcy would generally love to help, but she was in a video game tournament. So it was up to Anne to finish the work. It was simple enough to do a report on one of the one exhibits. Anne went to a nearby science museum, the Brainasium, and she'd spend most of her Saturday there, so she was depressed by it. If she hurried, she might be able to save some of her Saturday.

She wouldn't get that chance as an explosion rang out. All the lights and power, in general, were turned off.

"What?" Anne looked around, unsure what was happening.

Anne fell to the ground, and more explosions were heard. People screamed and started to run. Anne having a moment to compose herself, began to run toward the entrance.

"Frakes!"

A voice rang out, it distorted, and soon she saw its source.

In the atrium hovered in the air, a man in a leather jacket hovered above them with long feather-like metallic wings with whirling propellers. He wore a long, almost plague-like mask with dark lenses.

"Frakes! Come out!"

People who had run her had started to run away, parents carrying their children trying to find an exit. The hall was filled with the scream of crying, terrified children.

Anne herself froze in terror mind couldn't comprehend what was happening. That turned out to be the mistake. This man rushed down and grabbed Anne by the neck, pinning her to the wall. The wings pulled back, and Anne could see her struggling reflection in those lenses.

"Frakes! Come out! Or I'll start picking people off!"

The man pulled out a strange-looking gun from his belt. "Nothing personal, kid."

The barrel of the gun began to glow bright with purple energy.

As the weapon was turned to her head, Anne could feel the heat in her chest beating like crazy. For a moment, she thought this would be how she was going to die. She was never going to see her parents. She was never going to talk to Marcy, never going to get to see Sasha. It had been a while since Sasha moved away after her parents divorced, but they still emailed, and she always spent time with them when she visited. She remembered being small and playing in a park with both of them. She wanted to go back there.

She closed her eyes and braced herself.

CLANK!

Anne opened up to see a young woman with blue hair in a lab coat holding a fire extinguisher. They had slammed it on the man's helmeted head.

"Run!"

The man had accidentally released Anne when he got hit and Anne, driven by fear, ran as fast as she could.

The wings extended out, and Terri screamed as one ripped off her arms. Anne ran as fast as she could, ignoring the screaming. Anne ran and ran. She found herself deeper in the building and pushed past secure doors that would be locked if the electric locks worked.

Anne found herself in a lab, with machines everywhere, dissected animals, and more animals in cages. Anne heard someone coming and jumped behind a table and hid. In a small terrarium was the small pink frog looking at the girl.

Dr. Frakes ran in and started to grab her notes. "I can't believe it."

She rushed to a laser in the middle of the room. She began to fiddle with the hatch, and a glowing blue light peered from inside it.

"Frakes."

The door was blasted open as the man walked in.

"Toomes? is that you?"

"Good to see you too, but enough pleasantries. I know you have it."

"Have what?" Franke gently closed the hatch.

"Don't play me; rumors have been going around, and once you know what you are looking for, it wasn't hard to trace. So how about we do this peacefully or-" He raised his gun.

"No, I like the second way better." Frakes pressed a button on the laser, which fired directly at Toomes. Toomes returned and fired back. Both lasers collided in mid-air, the struggle pushing things around by the sheer colliding force.

The small frog used this chance, pushed over its terrarium, and broke the lock open. Nearby he saw another one containing an old frog and a tadpole. It hopped over to it and began to push it away from the blast.

Toomes beak opened up and fired another blast striking the laser, exploding it. Shard of metal and other things flew through the air. The tiny frog caught a glint of a blue gem. It stretched out its tongue, grabbing and pulling it into its mouth. It continued to push the terrarium until it fell over, but it didn't hit the ground. Instead, it fell into her open backpack of Anne. Anne was trembling in fear. She didn't notice anything fall into her bag, but seeing all the smoke filling the room, she crawled away and saw a door.

She pushed through the door and broke into a sprint, and she almost had a heart attack when she saw a gun. For once, there was some luck as it was a police officer who noted she was a scared teen,

"Come on this way," they motioned to an officer, "Get her outside."

The rest of the officers continued toward the lab, where they heard the fight.

Toomes had been slammed into a wall by the explosion. As he opened his eyes and checked on his equipment, he found that Frakes had managed to use the chance to escape. He wasn't as lucky as the police quickly rushed into the room with their weapons drawn. Toomes promptly pulled his gun and fired into the ceiling, causing it to collapse. As the police were forced to take cover, the sunlight rushed in, and Toomes flew out of the hole in the ceiling.

0000

The rest of the day wasn't all the better for Anne. The ambulances had shown up and checked everyone for injuries. The police did try to question her but seeing how scared she was, and they didn't develop too much into it. Many people had taken out their phones and gotten footage of the stranger who had attacked her.

Terri had been taken in an ambulance to the emergency room. They were confident they could save her life but doubted they could reattach what remained of her arm.

Anne sat in the back of an ambulance in shock.

"Anne!" Anne's mom and father called out as they arrived at the museum.

"Mom!"

They rushed to pass the police and hugged her.

"Let's go home," Anne asked, on the verge of tears.

A few news people were taking pictures of this small reunion. A few of the police did their best to block them to let them have some measure of privacy. Unfortunately, some people who had filmed the attack on their phones began to post it online. Already people had seen Anne getting attacked, and reporters there were trying to question her.

One person there wasn't all that interested in questioning Anne. He wore a tan trench coat and tugged on his gloves. He always wore gloves to help hide that he had six-fingered hands.

His name, Dr. Ford Pines, carried some weight as a respected newsman in LA. Ford had started as a researcher, but his attempt to discover the supernatural in a town in Oregan had met with failure and damaged his reputation. The only good thing that came out of it was that he ended up getting a cabin that he eventually handed over to his brother. His brother needed it more than he had, plus it sounded like his brother had turned it into a tourist trap and invited their niece and nephew for summer. Still, Ford wanted something out of his life. He had a falling out with his partner Mcgucket. Mcgucket started a computer business and got in on the industry's first boom. Ford left on his own and took a job at a scientific journal, and he thought this would be a temporary position. It wasn't; he became the go-to guy to disprove false or incorrect entries over time. Then maybe out of his disdain for being unable to prove the supernatural, he became the man to debunk claims of UFOs and magical creatures that they would often get. He usually exposed con people trying to make money from people who were often desperate. Ford didn't find this investigation all that different from the scientific method. It was just finding evidence and putting it together to get a solution. Following that, he started doing a proper investigation for a newspaper that heard about him. He rose amongst the ranks, and with some money from a few patents he had made, he bought the newspaper. People credit his intelligence for saving the newspaper from bankruptcy and making it highly creditable, refusing to allow anything to be published without firm evidence.

That was why he was there. Rumors of a man flying in a wingsuit firing a laser seemed strange or an outright hoax. He had seen the footage, but that could have been easily doctored.

Ford looked at burn patterns on the walls, "Those are plasma burns, blackened quickly before a fire could start. But at the size of the weapon… no, technology isn't available. It's not a huge leap in technology, but it wouldn't be available to regular criminals. Though a suppose an advance flight suit wouldn't either."

Though Ford was about the science game, he still kept a tab on technology and science. For that matter, 90% of news stories dealing with science in the Daily Trumpet were written by him. Ford still felt a need to reveal truths to the people.

He saw the damage and knew something was extraordinary and would require further investigation. He'd figure out the secret behind the one people had dubbed the Heron.

0000

Frakes picked through her lab, trying to salvage what she could. They had computer backups, but it looked like biological research was destroyed during the explosion. It looked like even the animal samples were gone.

"Frakes."

the scientist flinched at the voice.

She turned around to find two figures standing behind her.

Yunan was a tall, slender woman with short blonde hair, and she wore a simple yet stylish black suit. She carried herself with pride and confidence, and anyone who wasn't paying close attention might not realize how dangerous she was.

But in truth, Frakes' attention was drawn to who Yunan was guarding.

Andrias was a tall, dark-skinned man with long gray hair tried in a ponytail and an impressive beard. He wore an expensive black suit, likely more expensive than the whole lab. He had a black opal pin on his label, and he walked in calmly with a warm smile.

"Dr. Frakes, I had to come when I heard what happened. This is horrible."

"Andrias?" Frakes gulped.

"I assure you, my company will be more than happy to pay for your assistance with hospital bills and help repair everything here."

"That's very gracious of you."

"It's the least we can do to help alleviate your struggle during this terrible time." Andrias looked over to his guard, "Yunan, please give us a moment in privacy."

Yunan bowed and left the room to guard the door.

When the doors closed, Andras smiled and dropped, "Frakes, do you have the gem?"

"No, I'm afraid it's not here."

Andrias placed his hand on her shoulder, his hand almost as big as her entire head, "That's unfortunate to hear, now tell me one reason," his grip tightened on her should so hard she thought it would break. "why I shouldn't reconsider our working relationship?"

"Ah! I have two!"

"Go on,"

"Toomes! It was Toomes who attacked! I recognized his voice! I worked with him for years. I wouldn't mistake that voice."

Andrias paused, Toomes had worked with their groups years ago but moved on, and they hadn't had much contact in years. Toomes now had his own company and made a bit of success for himself. Andrias did hear rumors that it might have some financial issues. They had no legal means, and confronting Toomes in other methods would likely be difficult if he was ready.

"And the second reason?"

"I stored energy," Frakes told him, "I've got dozens on containers where I've been storing energy from the gem."

"Hm, fine. I'll be taking half of them back to my labs."

"Half?!"

"I know you wish to work on your projects, but we have a deal, I pay for your lab and let you do your private experiments as long as you continue our efforts. And now that you've lost the gem," he paused, "Well, the only reason I'm being so lenient is that you know our thief, and rumors are that the third gem is already coming to town. So, make sure you are worth all this extra trouble."

Frakes just nodded. She was not going to argue against the secret Kingpin of the city.

0000

Anne sat in her bed, she was safe, but she didn't feel it. Her nerves were on constant edge. All she wanted to do was pull herself under her covers and stay there.

"Anne!" Pushing past the doors was Marcy.

Marcy tumbled as she did but jumped her feet and ran right into Anne, pulling her in a tight hug. "Are you okay? Are you hurt? I'm sorry that you had to go through that? I rushed over the second I heard."

Anne hugged her back. "I-I-m okay."

Marcy pulled back. She didn't exactly believe her but wasn't going to force it out. It's not that Marcy was great with people or emotions. She didn't know how to deal with something like this. The best she could do was try to be there for Anne.

"Anne? Marcy?"

To both girls' surprise, Sasha was wearing a black leather jacket in the doorway.

"Sasha?" Anne muttered, "How? Why?"

Sasha gave them a weary smile, "Anne, the second I found out what happened, I knew I had to check on you."

"You were in another state." Marcy pointed out.

"Yeah, about that, stuff changed with my folks. I'm moving back here. I was going to wait for Monday to be a surprise when you saw me at school. But then everything-"Sasha just looked at her friends and pulled them in a hug.

Anne trembled before letting out a long, loud sob, and the wall broke down, and she started to cry. They just held her and let her.

Anne wasn't okay but knowing that her two best friends were there, that they'd be together again, gave her some sense of safety, that things would be back to normal soon.

0000

The girls stayed with Anne for hours; they started to talk about random things to keep Anne's mind off things. They even stayed for dinner. For a few moments, the world seemed normal again. They talked about everything in school to catch her up to date on everything. Sasha was going to be busy finishing unpacking though she did insist she could be there for them. Marcy said the same thing. If Anne said anything, she'd be there. But Anne insisted she needed sometimes, and she didn't want to bother them. She sent them home, saying she just needed to process everything.

She took a shower and got ready for bed, hoping that she'd be right. She got in her pajamas and made herself ready for bed.

"Meow"

Anne's attention was drawn by her cat Domino inching closer to her backpack.

"Domino?" As Anne moved to her back, she noticed movement. "What's going on?"

She opened the bag to get startled by a pink frog jumping on her suddenly. She grabbed the frog, and the frog spat out a glowing blue gem. Anne stared at the bright little stone still squeezing the little amphibian. In its attempt to free himself, the frog bit her hand. Anne naturally dropped the frog, "Ow!"

She rubbed her hand, trying to ease the pain. She looked over to see the little frog quickly jumping onto the small terrarium in her bag as if trying to protect the two inside it.

"How did that get there?"

Anne paused to look at her hand, a small blue puncture in her hand. "Wait, do frogs even have teeth? It's not one of those poison frogs, is it?"

Anne started to feel dizzy, and her vision became blurry. The world seemed to be pulled from beneath her.

Anne collapsed to the ground. As her vision became blurry, she saw the glowing gem and a small pink frog with a strange spider-like mark on its back.

Authors Note:  Am I going through Amphibia withdrawal… yeah probably. I’ve had a bad day so decided to start something fun.  I saw a bunch of art of Anne as a spider hero so I decided to do my own take on the story. I know their is a fanfic but I haven’t read it, since I didn’t want ot copy anything by accident.

Anyway, so if anyone has any suggestions for Anne’s spider costume let me know. Anyway a few notes, yeah Ford Pines is taking up JJJ role in this story because yeah JK Simmons in some form should always play JJJ.

The vulture is the Heron in this world and other amphibian character are going to fill in for spidey baddies.

Anyway let me know what you guys think, leave reviews and all that.

Chapter 02: The Cat

Anne woke up late in the morning, her head throbbing. She blinked her eyes awake shd found her cat with the little pink frog riding her. Domino seemed to be bringing a moth she caught into the terrarium, almost like feeding the older frog and tadpole in it.

Anne decided to ignore it. For now, she noticed the time on a nearby clock. Anne wasn't all that concerned. She was going to help at the restaurant today, but her mom told her to stay home and rest.

Anne looked at her hands, where a small faint dot remained. She was sure it would vanish in time. She wondered if the frog was poisonous, and it knocked her out. She looked at the frog, and almost like it expected her turned to look at her. She wondered if she should get Domino away from it, were they dangerous.

No.

Anne blinked. The idea was in her head that the little frog wouldn't hurt her or Domino.

Anne shook her head and walked into the kitchen, looking for something to eat. It didn't take her too long to find some food, and her mom left her some food. Anne took a few moments to heat it, she realized her mother took the time to make her favorite food, and she even found some snacks ready for her in the fridge.

She looked over her phone. Sasha and Marcy had left her messages offering to do any number of things together. Anne didn't feel like it, she wasn't sure what would help, but she wasn't sure she could face the world. Even as she looked through the phone, it was flooded with news stories about the attack yesterday. The man they called the Heron was a real-life super villain, and no one knew their motives for the attack. The Daily Trumpet was going over explanations for the tech and a detailed investigation of everything they had discovered. All the newspapers were talking and speculating, some suggesting the guy was an alien or from another dimension.

Anne scoffed at the idea before putting away her phone.

Anne decided to take a shower, but as she started to change out of clothes, she noticed herself in the mirror.

"Wait, what?"

She thought she was seeing things for a moment, "Do I have abs?"

Anne examined herself in a mirror. While she wasn't unathletic, she was a bean pole. Now, as she looked at herself, she saw that overnight, Anne had developed muscles, her torso was well-tone, and she now was packing some guns. She wouldn't be mistaken for a bodybuilder, but it looked like she was one of those comedians that got to be a superhero in a film and got a private trainer. Anne continued to examine her newly developed, toned body. She might have also grown in other ways like she was sure she was a bit taller.

"Puberty?" Anne questioned herself, "Or? Wait, can frog poison gives you muscles."

She shook her head at the thought and poked at her body. She didn't have much muscle experience, but she thought they would feel harder. She felt a bit like rubber flexible.

After getting cleaned up, Anne decided to run off to go to the restaurant. Anne changed and rushed off to the restaurant running as she did; if she had stopped to think about it, she would have realized she was running faster than she usually could and running longer than her usual stamina.

Anne smiled as she spotted her parent's restaurant. She crossed the street in a dash, not bothering to see if traffic was coming.

Her daze was broken when she heard a panicked horn and a strange tingling sensation pounding in her head. She turned to see a food truck rushing towards her, her body screamed at her to move, and she reacted, jumping high in the air at the last second and landing in a crouching position on the truck and skidding into a stop.

A man she knew as Ned jumped out.

"Oh god, no!" He quickly cheeked under the wheel to see if he had struck someone.

Anne was stunned by her sudden leap but climbed down from the truck as Ned was ready to faint.

"Anne!" Ned yelled, relieved, "I thought I ran you over!" He pulled her into a hug to see her safe, "Kid, you got to be careful. You just ran out into the street like-"He took deep breaths, trying to calm himself.

"Yeah, sorry, I managed to jump back at the last second."

Anne found herself trying to calm down her family's sort of delivery driver.

Ned and Anne went inside as he had more deliveries to pick up.

Anne's mom greeted her, "Anne, what are you doing here? I thought you were going to stay home and relax."

Anne shrugged, "I felt like I had energy and wanted to help."

Her mom leaned forwards, "Hm, are you okay?"

Give it to her mom to notice something was different, "Have you been watching my workout tapes." She saw the new muscles on her arms.

"Ah, yeah, a little bit."

"That's teenagers for you, change so quickly and so fast. Your dad has been trying to build muscles for months with no results."

"My pull-up bar broke!" Anne's dad called out from the kitchen. "When I get it fixed, just you watch."

Her mom gave Anne a playful smile, "It's not broken. It's in the back of the closet." She looked at her daughter again, "Maybe we should go shopping. You look like you've had a growth spurt.

Anne's mom took the rest of the day off to get Anne some new clothes. Anne had to admit she needed some new shoes, and she just realized she had lost one of her shoes during the jump.

Honestly, just being out with her mom helped with her nerves. Doing something that just felt normal helped.

Anne found the terrarium still on the floor when she got home, and she still wasn't sure how she got it but decided to put it on a shelf and fix it up a bit. She didn't think the little pink frog was dangerous or anything, and she found that that frog was friendly.

"Hey, little guy," Anne said as the little frog tugged on her fingers. She noticed the odd spider-like pattern on his back. "Spider? Frog? Hm, Sprig. I'm going to call you Sprig." Looking at how the older frog seemed to jump, she called it Hop-Pop. And the little one Polly because she thought tadpoles were called Pollywogs because of a game. She ordered some frog food online and wondered if she should get them a tank or something.

After a while, she settled for bed. As the room grew dark, the newly named Sprig looked at the faint blue glow from Anne's bag.

0000

Adrian Tomes was on high guard, and his security was on alert. He had hoped that attacking Frakes lab in the day of light would make things easier. Maybe it has been a bit of a mistake out of desperation. Frakes recognized his voice, so all odds, Andrias King would be after him too. Still, he's had something delivered that would tip things in his favor.

"Toomes! Good to see you."

Before him stood Renee Froodgers, also known as the Chameleon. She was a petite woman with short black hair and tidy black hair. Not that Toomes was sure she looked like that. Renee heard her name from talent, who used to be a talented but underappreciated actor. Not making enough money from acting, she used her skill and talent with make-up to make herself look like anyone she wanted. Her first big score was knocking out a bank guard, flawlessly disguising herself as them, and just walking out with money. She was the person to call if you wanted something stolen and no one the wiser for it.

"Renee, do you have it?"

She scoffed, "No, hello, just down to business." She motioned to her bag and pulled out a canister. "Happy? I must say, this little gem came for a lot of trouble. I think I deserve a bit of extra cash for the trouble."

"We will talk inside."

They walked into his building and took an elevator up to his office.

"What was the trouble?"

"I found it easy enough, but the poor shmuck that found it before me had it locked up. I did try to get it cleanly, disguised myself as his daughter to sneak in, but things went awry."

"You didn't?"

"I had to."

Toomes groaned; while Renee did try to avoid bloodshed, she wasn't one to flinch at violence if it called for it. Several times she's killed people she replaced, leaving them to be blamed for her crimes.

"It was ghastly. The last thing he saw was his daughter driving a knife into his chest. I did reassure him that I wasn't her- I'm not that much of a cad. And he passed without another word, such a dramatic death, and he failed to leave with any parting words."

"Truly, you are the real victim in this." Toomes bemoaned.

As the doors opened, they found that his office was torn apart, and his wall safe was wide open.

"Oh, looking for this."

Someone fell from the ceiling, striking both of them.

"What?" Toomes let out.

He looked up to see a teenage girl wearing a black suit with a bit of white fuzz around her neck, black gloves, and a black mask around her eyes. Her blonde hair was tied into a ponytail, and a smirk on her face. She held up a briefcase Toomes knew was filled with Renee's payment.

Renee jumped out, pulling out and slashed at this burglar, who managed to block the blow with the briefcase. The teen flicked her wrist, silvery claws popped out of her gloves, and she cut at the thief. Renee tried to block the attack with her knife only to find the knife slice and for the claws to slice at her face.

She yelped in pain, jolting back.

Toomes rushed to the wall pressing a hidden button where a ray gun popped out. Toomes quickly turned it to their attack only to find the teen closing the gap and slashing the weapon. Before his eyes, his gun fell apart.

"Nice, huh?" She smiled, "Vibranium claws."

Renee jumped up to try and attack her again. The teen spun around as claws on her boot popped out. The counter kick landed blades in her side.

This attack picked up the canister and quickly attacked it to her belt.

Toomes growled, "You can't escape. My guards are everywhere."

"Yeah, that might be more of a threat if I didn't already sneak past them. You're lucky I don't want to waste my night dealing with them." She walked over to the window that overlooked the city and slashed at it quickly, causing the glass to shatter.

"Don't worry about it; we will see each other soon. We got a score to settle. So until next time, Byeee~!"

She smiled at him, winking and offering him a playful wave.

Then she threw herself out, Toomes got up and looked out the window, but she was gone without a trace before he could. He considered wearing his flight suit to look for her but decided against it. People were looking for him already. If he were going to move out, he'd need to make sure it counted.

His guards arrived. He ordered them to get Renee some treatment, "Her job isn't done yet."

0000

This thief put down the canister in a parking lot and opened up to find a glowing pink gem.

"Dad…"

She held the canister to her chest and let out a few tears.

This would not change anything, she knew it, but she could keep it from them.

That would be a start, and she would make them pay.

0000

As she returned to school, she hoped things would go back to normal, that she could push things behind her. There were mixed results; Principal Murphy had pulled aside, having found out what happened to her, and told her that if she needed anything, she would be happy to help. The school therapist would be there for her if she needed them. The teacher would all understand if she needed time or anything.

Anne did just insist that she was hoping for things to go back to normal. However, some students did sneak pictures of her and stared at her while she wasn't looking. She also heard them whispering about the attack and still had her friends.

Marcy looked at Anne, "Uh, are you okay? Did your boobs get bigger?"

"Marcy!"

"I'm sure you look different from the last time I saw you."

"I was going to say you looked taller," Sasha suggested, "I wasn't sure since I hadn't seen you in a while, but yeah, you do look a bit different from Saturday. Like, have you been working out?"

"It's puberty!" Anne insisted, "You remember how Vinnie got a foot taller over two weeks. It happens."

Anne did consider telling them what to say to them. A weird frog she found in her bag bit her, and she got buff? Going through puberty was the only thing that made sense to her. But something at the edge of her mind, something still seemed off. She jumped on top of a food truck without any issue and chalked it up to adrenaline.

She just wanted things to go back to normal.

0000

The varsity tennis team was very supportive, and they asked Anne if she needed anything. Honestly, that was getting a little annoying for Anne, but she still appreciated it. The coach went as far as to compliment her on what she assumed must have been Anne on training herself on the side.

As for the game itself…

"Yikes!" One of the players ducked to the ground.

The ball Anne just served had sped past her and bent the fence behind them. This was the fifth ball that Anne had done this to, either serving or hitting them back. One managed to land a hit, but that just resulted in the racket being smashed apart.

The coach grimaced, "Uh, Boonchuy, maybe you overdone with the workout."

"Come on, coach, let's try it again. I'm just a little off my game." Anne prepared to serve again, trying to figure out her strength better.

With a swing, the ball didn't go flying out again. Instead, it fell beside her. The racket strings had sliced through the ball and let little sliced-up pieces.

"…Okay, maybe I should take some time off."

"We need more balls."

0000

Anne left practice early for an apparent reason, which meant she could join Marcy to cheer on Sasha.

While tryouts were long since over, Sasha had a friend or two on the squad and got them to give her a trial. If she impressed them, they might be able to put her on the team as a spare member in case someone couldn't make it.

They arrived just in time to see Sasha doing her routine. They showed how she worked with the team and prepared to get on top of the pyramid.

"No sweat." Sasha told them, "Give me a second."

She took a step back before leaping into the air, several people gasped, and others flinched, expecting Sasha to crash into them, but that didn't happen. Sasha landed on the very top on her tip toes with the grace you'd expect from a ballerina, and she held her arm up in the air in her cheer position. Even the rest of the pyramid seemed surprised, expecting a lot more force, but Sasha knew how to control her momentum so she wouldn't land with a lot of force.

Anne and Marcy cheered for their friend, who quickly got a wink and a wave.

Sasha had apparent stamina and grace. Honestly, even the other cheerleaders had to admit she was probably better than they were. Though they couldn't precisely kick someone out, Sasha was happy to stay as an alternative. After it was true, she hadn't learned all their moves, which would take time, but she was a shoo-in for the next tryout; she'd be an easy win for the next cheer captain.

The trio walked out of school together. Though Marcy wasn't in any club, she did inform them about the other ones, like the robotics club.

"Yeah, they know robots. They seem pretty well-rounded with science, but robotics is the big draw. They're happy to help anyone with any science problem."

"Come on!" Sasha waved her off, "Let's go shopping! Let's get some dinner! You know what, just cause I'm back in town and to celebrate my clear victory in the cheer squad, I'm buying."

The girls agreed though Anne did have to call her folks to tell them. They were happy that Anne was having a good time with some friends, so they just asked her to get home before it got too late.

0000

Renee was not a happy actress, she was so close to getting paid, but then some girl just stole her prize and money! Toomes was not going to pay if he didn't get his precious gem but promised to double the money if she killed this cat burglar. She was willing to do it pro-Bono, it was bad enough this could ruin her reputation, but she sliced her face.

She looked at the device she was given, looking for any signal. She was to call Toomes, and they'd down this thief together.

She rode around her van filled with masks and all the tools of her trade when it sounded off.

Quickly she called Toomes to meet her downtown. She was going to get to use one of Toome's new toys.

She'd have to dress for the role. After all, she couldn't let Toomes be the only one to show up with a fancy outfit.

0000

The girls were having a great time in the arcade before Sasha suggested they get some stuff at some of the nearby stores. "It's all on me, girls."

"Sasha? Things get expensive." Anne pointed out

"Yeah, my mom might be a pain, but dad left me with a stack of cash to make up for it. I'm happy to share the wealth."

They stopped at a gaming shop to get something that Marcy had wanted. They assumed she'd want something for a role-playing or video game, but it was something else.

"You want a sword?" Anne winced at it.

"It's Stinger from War of the Warlocks!" Marcy explained, "It's a replica, size weight, even the knicks are perfect matches for how the sword ended up after the fight with the Lich!"

Even Sasha was worried. While not an issue with the money, she was worried Marcy would get herself hurt. "Okay, I'll get it for you, but… don't get yourself killed with it. I don't want to find out you got hurt because I got it for you."

"Pfft!" Marcy waved off the concern, "Come on, like-"Marcy tried to yank it off the wall and almost instantly dropped it.

The only thing that stopped the sword from colliding with Marcy's head was that Anne, with enhanced speed, caught the blade.

"Whoops," Marcy said, "Nice catch, Anna-banana."

Marcy held the sword with both arms next to her chest.

"Attention." A young man-looking police officer walked in holding a PDA-like device. "Please your attention. We have reason to believe that we have a dangerous individual hiding here. So please follow instructions."

Something made her head tingle, and something was wrong with this police officer.

The store manager stopped the officer from talking to them about what was happening.

Sasha turned to the girls, "Let's get out of her. I get a weird vibe out of this cop."

Marcy was confused, but Anne quickly nodded. Sasha motioned to them to walk towards the exit towards the back.

The device the officer held beeped in the direction of the girls. Before they could do anything, the officer pulled out a strange-looking weapon under their jacket and fired. A blast of plasma barely missed them, shattering the wall.

"Run!" Anne yelled, pushing the girls to the back. Everyone in the store panicked and fleed, letting the girls run.

Renee growled. She didn't get good luck but saw three people running. It didn't matter. She had the device. She could follow them anywhere. She readied the weapon to take out her target.

The tingle was worse now. Anne could feel the weapon being pointed at them, and she pushed the girls just enough to miss an attack. She knew that type of weapon. It was way too similar to the Heron's weapon had they come back for her.

The Chameleon in her disguise continued to fire. Anne started to pull away at her speedier pace. When another attack came, she couldn't move her friends. One of the blasts struck the ground, pushing Anne further ahead. Another shot hit the ground, blasting Sasha into a nearby store, and Marcy tripped onto the floor. Anne had stopped and turned around, and her body froze as she saw the weapon. Her body screamed at her to move, and Anne jumped back, and the blast blew out, shattering the walkway they were on. She saw it happen. She saw Marcy on the ground trying to get up, she saw the blast coming, but she moved back. The energy erupted through the walkway shattered and broke, collapsing, dropping Marcy and a half a tone of material into the lower floor of the mall.

"Marcy!"

She could barely make out Marcy's hand from underneath the rubble through the dust. The debris started to shift, and she could see that it would crush her, she stretched out her hand desperately trying to reach her, and she couldn't, but something else could. A shot of something ripped from her wrist, and a web attached itself to a large piece of debris. Anne barely registered it, pulled it away, and swung it out, leading it away from Marcy.

Renee could hear people coming; the debris wasn't letting her see anything, and she was still the tracker. She had to move before she got into more trouble. She dipped away. Toomes tech would handle the cameras.

Meanwhile, Anne jumped to the bottom ground and started lifting massive pieces of rubble away until she found Marcy.

"…Marcy?"

To her relief, she was breathing, she found Marcy's phone and quickly dialed for an ambulance, but she didn't say anything. What could she say?

Was she causing this? Was this her fault? Did she get Marcy hurt?

That thought hurt Anne, and it broke her heart.

Another thought followed she could have to reach Marcy. She could have shielded her. She could have pulled her along. She could have done anything number things. She had power, she could have done so much, and she was so scared to do anything; this was the cost.

Anne mentally screamed at herself that this was all her fault.

Something more reasonable tapped in her head.

No, this wasn't her fault. It was the officer that did this.

She screwed up already, and she couldn't screw up again. She had to do this right.

Anne looked around and saw some clothing store nearby grabbing some stuff. She couldn't let anyone able to identify her, or they would find her all the easier. She grabbed a sweater to cover her uniform shirt and some tracksuit pants over her skirt. She grabbed a beanie and ripped two eye holes before sliding it overhead, and her hair made it a bit awkward, so she pulled over the hoodie on the sweater. As she caught a glimpse of herself in a mirror, she almost laughed. The hoodie looked like a frog with eyes and everything. Anne ran towards where their attacker had been.

0000

In the black suit, a figure walked over to Marcy, seeing that she was alive, and could hear rescue workers already making their way down the hall. Nearby they saw the sword that Marcy, in her panic, had carried with her until she fell. They picked up the sword and walked away.

0000

Renee was almost home clear; she'd dump the disguise soon and blend with the crowd. When Toomes got here, they'd corner the girl.

"You!"

Renee turned around to see a strange sight rushing towards her. A girl in a bizarre outfit was swinging via web from her hands and moving straight at her. She tried to fire at this girl, but she dodged them, swinging mid-air, almost like she knew where the attack was going. Renee decided to fall back, but as she turned to run, she felt a snap on her back yanking her back. Reen hurled back, swinging through the air. She fired a blast severing the web and spun to the ground. Renee shook it off and returned to fire at this spider freak.

The ceiling started to collapse, but Anne moved around the air with her webs. The tingling in the head began to guide her away from the dangers. Her instinct drove her toward her target.

"Are you here for the gem too?"

The Chameleon aimed her gun at Anne and tried to fire it again before a web clogged the weapon, and as she pulled on the trigger, it exploded, hurling her into a wall.

The criminal gasped, trying to catch her breath before the web pulled her forward, and she found herself grabbed by Anne.

Anne, enraged, hurled Chameleon into the air before webs attached to her and swung down hard on the ground.

Anne felt her heart beating in her head, fist-shaking, and she leaped at the woman. Anne placed her hand on their face and pulled, and she was surprised that a mask came off, revealing a woman.

It didn't matter. She hurt Marcy, and she tried to hurt them all. Anne shook her hand, and after a moment, the mask fell from her now her sticky finger. Anne instead grabbed her neck, felt her finger attaching to the skin, and started to press down. She felt the flesh and the bones begin to bend to her strength, and it would be easy to end it there.

The woman was desperately gasping and trying to struggle against Anne.

She wanted to end it.

Then she remembered two days ago that was her; she'd been struggling for life a few days ago. Anne didn't want to become like the Heron and let the woman drop. Anne shot webs at her sticking her to the ground, and fled.

0000

The police were already blocking off the area.

Ford was already there with his camera guy looking for what was happening.

There were gasps and screams, and suddenly, people turned to the roof as out of the holes someone was crawling out.

"Is that a frog?" Ford remarked, noticing the hoodie.

The girl was sticking to the walls before leaping off it and shooting webs and started to swing away.

"It's a spider?" Ford scratched his head, "It's both." As they swung away to the crowd's amazement, he got his camera guy and pointed to them, "I want pictures! Pictures of Spider-Frog!"

Nearby, Toomes watch things play out from his limo before telling his driver to continue. There was nothing for him to do.

0000

Renee was barely conscious and was sure a few broken bones. She didn't think some weird frog-spider freaked finally caught her.

"I told you guys we'd see each other again."

Renee blinked as she saw the blonde looking down at her. She wore the familiar black suit, but her hair was a mess, and her eyes seemed redder.

"So, you did."

"Look at how the Chameleon was brought down. No one is even sure what you look like. I wouldn't be surprised if this face were a mask too."

"Trade Secret, Miss-"

"Let's go with Black Cat."

"You know there was a thief by that name, and they vanished some time ago."

"Yeah, so the name is free."

The Black Cat looked down at her, "I need to tell you this. I was wondering what to do with you. You're just a gun. I want your boss, but now…." She pulled out a small vile. "I wanted to leave you with a reminder of me, something to make you remember my pain every time you look in the mirror. I was hesitating to use this, but after today it's not enough."

"What are you talking about?"

The small vial was smashed into Renee's face, shattering and releasing sulfuric acid. As her face started to melt, she screamed.

The Black Cat pulled up a sword she'd been carrying, "Like I said, not enough."

0000

The police rushed in following the screams, and they found the Chameleon just about to pass out as her face had been felted by acid and her left arm had been sliced off. They found no method to how this was done nor by. They could only assume by the webs that this Spider-Frog had done it.

0000

Anne was crying on a nearby roof, and she wasn't even marveling had her new powers. She was crying, still feeling guilt over not saving Marcy and almost killing someone.

Was she a monster now?

She almost killed someone without a second, though. If she hadn't stopped right there, would she have done it?

The phone buzzed with a message from Sasha.

"Where are you? Are you okay? If you are, get to the hospital soon. Marcy isn't doing well."

It wasn't that hard for Anne to get to the hospital.

She rushed to the room until she found Sasha in it with Marcy.

"Anne! You're okay." Sasha hugged her, and she had a few bandages on her face. "I got blasted through a store window. When I came too, I found Marcy…."

Anne stared at Marcy, motionless, lying there with machines supporting her.

"It's still too close to tell, we hope she will be fine, but we got to wait and see."

"Marcy…" Anne took her hand, and Sasha took her other hand while holding Anne's. They wanted to stay with her letting her know she wasn't alone. To their surprise, Marcy squeezed their hands back. To their relief and through tears, they had hope.

0000

Anne returned home, she was tired, and her parents understood why. They all hoped Marcy would pull through. Anne was worried they wouldn't let her out of the house.

She dropped her pack onto the bed and found Sprig crawling on the ceiling, exploring. He wasn't showing any other power, but he spat out an extra-long tongue to swing from wall to wall before Sprg landed next to her.

Anne picked him up, "Hey, little guy, did you give me powers."

Maybe.

"What?" Anne wasn't sure, it wasn't worded, but she felt some sort of sensation coming from the frog.

While Anne thought about this, Sprig jumped towards her bag, knocking it over and letting their makeshift costume spill out. Anne looked at the costume, but her eyes turned as a blue gem stumbled. She picked up and stared, remembering the villain's words about a jewel.

Author's Notes: Something that bugged me in the spider-man movies was how in the Tobey films, he was all scrawny, yet after a day, he was buff, and no one mentioned it. If I remember, someone mentioned he no longer needed glasses. I just figured someone noticed is Anne suddenly got more muscles.

Okay, i rushed this out a bit faster since i’m going to a trip in two weeks so I’m trying ti update everything before I head out for a while. Anyway leave me a review and tell me what you guys liked.

Chapter 03: Hop onto The Scene

To say that Anne was tired would be an understatement. Her body, mind, soul, and probably some more things were tired.

Emotionally she was exhausted, a sci-fi gun nearly shot her, and Marcy was injured. They were expecting her to pull through, but she was still unconscious at the moment. Marcy had gotten hurt before but seeing her lying in bed like that was a punch in the gut.

Her parents picked her up and took her home, where Anne just felt so tired. Looking at her hands, she was still unsure how she developed the new powers. Anne could barely make out two bulges on her wrist where webs shot out. Her fingertips had changed; if she weren't looking for changes, she wouldn't have noticed anything. Her fingertips were tougher yet squishy and maybe a little bulgier. Anne wasn't sure if that was the whole solution, but as she could stick to the wall now, she figured that had to do with it. Considering her blanket refused to come to her face for five minutes, she figured there was more to it. Maybe her fingertips were just more sticky. The rest of her body could stick to things too. Her body was changing in ways no other teen was going through.

Her new frog tanks were okay, and she fed her new residents.

Thanks.

Anne blinked as she watched the pink frog eat. She wasn't sure, but sometimes she got something off the frog, a sense of ideas if not exact words.

There was just so much to figure out, and she wasn't the person who could figure it out. If Marcy was, she'd figure it out in minutes. All Anne understood was from the stuff that Marcy had said about comics and movie heroes. Anne considered going to the hospital to get tested, but she was afraid she'd end up in a medical experiment.

Anne would love to ask Marcy for advice, but she'd hate to get her more involved in this. Anne was still struggling to figure out how the gem and the frogs got in her bag. She could only guess that that lady somehow knew she had it. Honestly, Anne was half tempted to sell it, it was probably worth a lot, but she had no idea where to sell it or explain how she got it. And there was always a chance they'd find it and track to her.

Anne dropped the gem into the water of the tank, and she went off to get breakfast.

"What is the city coming to?" Anen heard her mother talking.

Anne's eyes bulged at what she saw in the city, on the TV reporting on it.

An older man with a mustache explained, "The infamous international criminal known as the Chameleon was apprehended last night. While her fingerprints were not on records, her DNA matched to samples found in over two dozen crimes worldwide."

Anne was at least happy that the person who had attacked them was captured.

"Police are eager to question her, but that might take some time after doctors have confirmed a severed arm and the skin on her face being melted off will need treatment. For the moment, she is in a medically induced coma."

"What about face melted off?" Anne questioned.

"Is this some sort of new twisted ability from this infamous Spider-Frog? We turn to our special guest Doctor Ford Pines for answers."

"Spider-Frog?" Anne asked.

"Yeah," Her dad told her, "That's what they're calling the person with the shooty webs at the mall. I'm surprised you didn't see them. You must have missed them in all the chaos."

"Yeah…"

The newscaster turned to Ford, who was sitting next to him. "How dangerous is the acid this Spider-Frog spits?"

Ford looked dumbfounded. "Look, while this Chameleon person has been confirmed to have her face melted, there is no evidence that it was any organic secretion. From the reports, the police have provided its likely sulfuric acid, and some reports of glass shards found it's likely some sort of container was brought and broken."

"So this Spider-Frog brought acid to use and then sliced off the arm?"

"You're jumping to conclusions. There is no evidence of either fact. All security cameras had gone down during the attack. We still do not know about how or why Spider-Frog is doing what she is doing?"

"Do you think Spider-Frog is a criminal?"

"Yes, at the very least, from witness accounts, she was seen fighting the Chameleon. At best, she's a vigilante. At worst, she mutilated a person. She needs to be brought in and questioned and tried accordingly."

"And what if she is one of the witch children?"

Ford sighed, "Yes, I know the stories of these witch children with inborn powers. There has never been any definitive proof of their existence. If Spider-Frogs is some sort of enhanced individual, she needs to be studied."

While Ford would like to think that he put all his weird science in the past, some part of him wanted to believe in the supernatural and what possibilities they could learn from someone with powers. A small sample of blood could tell so much.

On the other hand, Anne paled at the thought. She could almost imagine being pinned to a lab table like a frog in biology class. She was so happy she'd disguised herself at the mall. Even with their picture, there was no way to identify her.

Anne decided it would be best to hide all the proof of her little adventure and try to move on.

0000

Ford got back to his office and tried to relax. Their investigation with Spider-Frog was going to be a marathon as they dug up every clue they could. To complicate matters were the Chameleon and this Heron. Ford was confident if they found anything on Heron, they'd figure out more on the Spider-Frog.

That's when the door to his office opened up. In came Lilith Clawthorne, a woman with pitch black hair who wore large framed glasses, a green top, a purple skirt, and a black vest. Though she was a tad odd even for Ford, she was a very intelligent and diligent worker. For someone reason, Ford never understood she was particularly interested in disproving stories of the hulking Owl Beast.

"I've got good news, Boss!" Lilith came in smiling. She was like this when she was sure she'd get praise, "I've found everything you asked for, plus doing my research, I checked in with some military contacts."

Ford raised one of his bushy eyebrows as he started to look at her research. "I think we have a starting point."

0000

Anne was trying not to think about the mess that was her life, one of her best friends was in the hospital, two supervillains had attacked her, and she was developing a superpower and possibly talking to a frog.

Maybe she was too much in her head as she walked into school and bumped into someone.

"Hey, watch it!" Maggie shouted, getting Anne out of her stopper.

"Sor-"

"Whoa! Watch it, Boonchuy! Crap, you touched me! I'm going to get that Boonchuy Luck. I'm going to the next one struck by Boonchuys bad luck!" A few people chuckled at the joke. "Maybe I'll end up in the hospital like Wu-"

CRACK!

The halls had been filled with some people laughing and talking to their friends, but that was all silenced.

Maggie barely registered it, but suddenly Anne pushed her up to the wall and slammed her hand on the wall behind her. Anne hit the wall with enough force that the wall cracked with a giant spider web-like pattern. The hall light above them was flickering off and on, almost obscuring the rage-filled glare Anne was giving her.

"What did you say about Marcy?" Anne's voice was little more than a grumble.

Maggie felt her heart choke in her throat as she was sure if she said the wrong thing, she'd be going to the hospital. No one in the hall moved to her defense as this shocking turn of events had them all stunned.

Well, everyone except one.

"Okay, let's cool it." Sasha gently grabbed Anne's shoulder and helped her pull away. "That was not cool, Maggie. So, maybe you just make yourself scarce today. Okay?"

Maggie didn't respond, but Sasha took that as an answer. Sasha pulled Anne away to talk to her. Maggie just stared at the significant dent in the wall.

"Okay, breath, Remember those breathing exercises we tried to get Marcy into? Just take in a big breath."

"I'm okay."

"Really? Cause you just punched a hole into a wall." Sasha took Anne's hand, inspecting it for damage, "Does it hurt?"

"No, I'm fine." She pulled away. "I just got angry when-"

"No, I get it," Sasha agreed, "I'm going to be honest with you. People are starting to say that you're a bad luck charm. That getting close to you will get people some bad luck, all because you know. Your luck hasn't been great lately."

Anne buried her face into her hands.

"Screw them!" Sasha told her, "You got me, and when Marcy comes out of it, you'll have her too. We're best friends forever."

Anne smiled at the thought, "Thanks," She paused, "Do you think it was my fault?"

"What? Anne, some crazy master of disguise, decided to shoot up the mall? How in any way is that your fault?"

Anne gulped, thinking about the gem.

"I- I- I could have done something. I could have helped Marcy if I-"

"If you what? Got yourself killed? We both love Marcy, and You shouldn't have been in the position to save someone from crazy with a gun. Marcy would never ask for that. If you had tried, odds are you'd get hurt too. Nothing you could have done would have changed that."

"You're right," Anne lied.

Anne had super powers; if she had used them, she could have saved Marcy. So for the rest of the day, Anne decided to lie.

0000

There was one thing that Anne had been curious about, so she went to them at lunch and returned after school.

Ally and Jess were two, well, not teachers; they ran the extracurricular science lab, helped kids with science stuff, and helped out with the science-focused science clubs. Marcy had told Anne about them, and that gave her the idea. People around school called them the IT Gals.

Anne was a little worried about bringing in the gem to them, afraid it would cause more trouble, but she needed some answers, and well, she wasn't bright like Marcy.

"Huh?" Ally looked at the gem. "Weird rock. The cut seems weird. Not a geology expert or even a jewelry expert. It looks natural, well, as natural as a cut is going to form. I mean, it's not an artificial cut; this doesn't look like anyone cut it. It just became that."

"That's not even the weirdest part," Jess pushed a device forward, "Took some jerry-rigging, but it's radioactive."

"Radioactive!?" Anne shouted.

"Well, kind of." Jess admitted, "This is way beyond us, but-" showing Anne a weird pattern on the device's screen. "That s a peculiar energy pattern, and we had to look up stuff from NASA to get it that the same kind of cosmic microwave background radiation came about from the Big Bang. Like it's supposed to be a relic, just out in the emptiness of space, but the little rock is chuck full of it."

"Is it dangerous?" Anne asked.

"Probably not." Ally offered. "I mean, super low levels of it are supposed to be everywhere. Still, I'd keep it diluted, putting in some liquid or a metal container." She pulled out an old thermos and spilled the liquids into a nearby sink before dropping the gem. "Here, take it in this. We think it used to hold soup, found it behind an old heater."

Jesse asked, "Where did you find it anyway?"

"Uh, it's a secret."

They looked at one another.

"Okay,"

"Sure"

Anne blinked, a little surprised, "Aren't you guys going to ask me stuff? Or try to take it from me?"

They shrugged, Jesse, saying, "It's your gem. Do what you want with it. Plus, even from a scientific standpoint, technology isn't there to do anything with it. In the best case scenario, some big ultra secret corp will study it and patent all sorts of discoveries."

"If you're going to do that," Ally told her, "Wait until you need money for college to sell it. At least you won't have to worry about student loans."

Anne chuckled at that. She wasn't sure she could trust them with everything, but they seemed like good people.

0000

Anne tried to do regular exercise, she still did Muay Thai since her parents got her on it, but for the last few days, she'd been doing more. She woke up early and ran. In the last few days, Anne could do ten times the number of laps and a fraction of the time. She started using some exercise equipment her dad never used and was lifting everything they had. Anne wasn't sure of her limit, but she was way under it.

Something in her wanted to push it, to know how far she could go.

She talked to the little frog and knew what he was trying to tell her. That gem she kept hidden must have made this possible. She wondered if she should expose the other frogs too. She didn't say to him about that, he seemed happy, but he wasn't sure if it would be the right thing to do.

She and Sasha went to the hospital regularly to talk to Marcy, and she was still out. They'd read her the new comic books and fill her in on her favorite shows and the news about the movies she was looking forward to.

Sasha fixed some flowers by her bed, "We'll watch them all together when you wake up. Hell, if you wake up soon, we'll even dress and go to one of those conventions of yours."

Anne chuckled, "Remember she'd try to get us to do with her and always put on costumes?"

Sasha smiled at Marcy, "If you wake up, I'll even wear one of those skin-tight suits."

"Yeah, she made a few outfits for me for Halloween. I just couldn't wear it, but if she wakes up." Anne stopped herself from crying.

0000

Days blended into another. At night, when she had trouble sleeping, she'd try out her powers. She'd cling to walls, and she shot the web to the ceiling seeing how strong it was. Sometimes Sprig would join her, he could shoot webs, but his tongue seemed to stretch farther than it should have.

Anne tried everything to keep herself from thinking. There was something wrong, given time she realized something was off. The gem, why would a thief want a stone that could do this? She'd watch the news and check online, The Chemelone was a thief and master of disguise, but they always seemed to work for hire, steal things for the highest bidder. And Anne knew someone had to hire her, and she knew someone else who was looking for the gem.

"The Heron."

A psycho was running around, who sent someone that almost killed Marcy.

Anne sighed, coming off the wall, opened a closet, and looked at a discarded costume Marcy had made for her. There had been a couple of other ones in the closet too. Marcy had made several costumes over the last few years, and she felt terrible that she never wore them. Anne picked up her phone and started looking up cosplay videos and how to make them.

"I can't believe I'm doing this."

Anne started to work through the night, putting all the costumes together, changing colors, and adding her details.

She spent the next several nights working on them.

Anne wanted to say any number of things, that it was a stupid idea, but she couldn't help it. She couldn't forgive herself if she left the person who got Marcy hurt run free when she could do something to stop it. She had the power to do something.

Anne decided to lean onto the spider thing, altered the mask by giving it big eyes with some sunglasses, and made a hole in the back. She had to pull her hair through it, or else the mask would get lumpy. She put on a web-like pattern over the mask and the body suit, making it a dark blue web. In the middle of it, Anne painted a spider.

Sprig jumped on the fresh paint leaving a froggy footprint.

Anne smiled at it, deciding to make that her logo and add it to the froggy sweater. She was going to make that a dark blue too and make the eyes less goofy. Anne did consider dropping the hoodie, but she didn't think the suit would do much for warmth. And she added some sneakers cause, well, she was going to do a lot of jumping, and her powers seemed to work through shoes, so why not?

0000

Toomes was fuming. Not only had Renee been captured, but the stone was gone. No matter how far he searched, he could trace it. Whoever had it had found some way to block its energy signature. He wondered if Andrias had it, but that felt wrong. He heard a rumor that something was being brought into the city soon. If he was, and that was the third gem, he couldn't let Andrias have all three at once.

He was going to have to do something bold.

Sasha sat beside Marcy way past visiting hours.

"Mar-Mar, don't worry, I made sure that women will never hurt you again. I'm going to ensure the person who set her off is gone too." She leaned down and kissed Marcy on the head. "I owe it to you and my old man." She sighed, "If things go wrong… you and Anne will have to take care of each other."

Andrias was holding an event, and the rich and powerful of the city were all coming out. Officially it was to raise money for the homeless. Unofficially it was for the rich to stroke their egos and mingle and get some excellent publicity.

Andrias welcomed all the rich people, "Welcome, please help yourself to the shrimp. It's fresh. And most of all, remember to dig deep and give from your hearts. We are trying to-"

Something exploded, and down descended the Heron. "Andrias,"

"Have we met? Also, have you met Yunan?"

His bodyguard jumped in front of him.

"Yeah, I don't think she's going to be enough," The Heron fired a blast from his plasma gun.

Yunan pressed a button, and dagger-like claws sprung over her knuckles, and she quickly deflected the blasts.

"I disagree," Andrias interjected, "I only hire the best, and I fire the rest."

Andrias smirked, and Toomes knew precisely what he meant.

"Sir, run! Get to safety!" Yunan ordered as she readied to battle. "Get to safety!"

The Heron fired again, to which the bodyguard managed to deflect.

At this point, the guest was making a mad scramble to escape but was stopped as dozens of drones descended, pointing weapons at them. It was making it clear none of them were allowed to go anywhere.

Toomes wanted Andrias, but if things went sideways, having the city's elite hostage made an excellent bargaining chip.

0000

The news was playing the events across every smartphone, laptop, and TV all over the city.

Sasha watched it on her phone, "Yeah, I guess it's time."

Sasha pulled out the red gem and put it in a chocker she put on.

"It's time to finish this."

0000

Anne watched the news with bated breath, unsure what to make of it. Part of her wanted to ignore it, but she knew this would have to be it. Anne took a deep breath and rushed into her room to get the costume she was working on.

"Sprig?"

Anne noticed the little frog on the costume, and he had on a tiny little aviator goggle hat thing.

"Is that from my old Amelia Earhart doll?"

Well, you're wearing a mask, so…

"Yeah, well, I don't think you need to hide your identity. Why would you need a mask? You're a frog! You're not coming with me! "

I am!

"No, you're not."

Look, I got powers too.

"Dude, you're a frog!"

You're a human.

"Look!"

Listen! You can understand me. And I'm small, no one notices me, if I come along with you, I can watch your back, so no one gets the drop on you.

"My head does a weird tingle when anything nearly hits me."

We can argue all you want, but if you have another person there, I can sneak in for you. I can watch your back.

"I don't have time to argue!" Anne yelled, "Let's go."

Anne quickly got dressed with the little frog on her back. She leaped onto the roof and the next, jumping as far as she could until she hopped on a passing bus. As the bus sped into the city, Anne held out her hands to a passing building and shot out her web. With one more leap, Anne swung into the air.

0000

Heron was annoyed this bodyguard was more capable than he would have guessed. She was using those claws to climb up the walls to chase him in the air, and she was doing so naturally. He could almost think that was her natural state. Heron was forced to fly into the building after Andrias while fighting the guard.

"You think you will escape the grand Yunan!"

She leaped on his back and stabbed at him.

Heron let out a scream. His armor deflected most of the blade, but he felt the sharp tip dig into his skin.

"Get off me, you crazy bi- " He flew straight into the ceiling to crush her, but she leaped off at the last second.

He barely managed to use that to escape and move ahead.

0000

It didn't take long for the Black Cat to reach the fancy digs that the rich and famous had been trapped in. The police had arrived and were useless, they tried to breach the place, but the drone fired on them.

She sat on the roof and watched for a few moments.

"Okay, let's see the drone. All are looking down, making sure no one is going too far. Simple enough, I guess,"

She snuck into a near sky scrapper and went to the very top.

The drones were simple. They looked down and saw the world as a map. If no one stepped out of the border, they would do nothing. The only issue was about getting into the border, and Sasha found it all she had to do was drop.

She touched the chocker where she hid the gem. She didn't feel different, "Come on, old man. Please be right."

She ran at full speed, kicking off the rood at the last second, she wanted to close her eyes, but she had to open them.

She moved into the air, and she soared. Her kick was enough to get her to pass the border. She felt the air rush past her and her heart beating crazy in her chest. She felt the rush of adrenaline. She said she would not give into the fear. She would control it, and as she grit her teeth. She twisted her body mid-air, forcing it to turn, and she latched onto a nearby flag pole and dug her claws into it.

"Well, I guess that works."

She moved towards the wall, climbed a window, and forced it open.

0000

"Aaaaah!" Anne screamed, "This is crazy! This is crazy!"

Anne was trusting her instincts to swing herself through the skyline. Spring was screaming too, but more in delight. The little frog was sticking to her with no issue.

Anne regretted her every decision.

She wanted to stop or run away, but she kept picturing Marcy in that bed and how she could have prevented that.

Anne could not let that happen again.

As she saw the building where the party was, she saw police and drones.

"Drones!"

Anne swung closer to them, and they turned to her, and she felt the tingle just as the bullets were let loose.

Anne twisted her body through the air, just dodging the gunfire. The police ducked back, pushing any onlookers away from the gunfire. Anne shot webs at the eyepieces of a few nearby drones, which flew wildly and crashed. The drones started to pay attention to her and only her. Anne shot her webs to try to knock some down. It was getting much harder to do as they continued to fire on her forcing her to doge them.

Anne landed on one of the drones, desperate for a second to catch her breath. She didn't get it as she was forced to leap off it as the other drones fired on it. They managed to swiss cheese it as she jumped away. The gunfire was loud, and she could barely hear it over the sounds of people screaming. As people panicked, some drones started to spread out toward the screaming people. Anne had a flash of inspiration. Anne started to fire her webs at the propellors on the drones. The propellers got gunked up, and they began to crash.

Anne heard a scream as one of the drones spun out of control towards a woman. Anne quickly shot webs at it, yanked it away, and did her best to hurl it away. Anne was aiming toward another drone but didn't have enough practice and ended up crashing it into a police car.

"Ah! My bad!"

Things were chaotic, and her tingle was telling her when to dodge. People were panicking, and Anne could barely keep the drones from attacking them. The more she struck at them, the more they turned towards her, but any that didn't target her had to shoot while dodging.

Run! Inside!

"I'm trying, but the drones! They'll start attacking the other people!"

Yeah! They attack you, and they'll chase you away from them.

Anne blinked, unsure if it would work, but it sounded good. Anne webbed two drones and leaped towards the wall. The other drones turned their attention to her, and she kept pulling them past the border deeper inside. as the drones all turned to her as she ran inside, the guest took the chance to run, the police helping by covering them. Anne rushed into the building letting the two drones she dragged crash into the walls. All the other ones flew behind her.

0000

The grand ballroom, which was supposed to host the ball at night, was now all but empty. The doors burst open as the Heron flew through.

"Adrian, how good of you to come," Andrias held up a glass of wine, "We have all this amazing wine, and no was just going to waste. They should have opened it until the guest got settled. But then again, I supposed who would predict an avian-themed supervillain."

"You're calm for a man with a gun pointed at him," Heron emphasized with his gun.

"You don't have the guts."

A blast of plasma shattered the glass.

"Are you sure about that?"

Andrias grabbed a napkin and cleaned some of the splatters off, "You still didn't hit me, and considering that shot, you must have an amazing aiming system."

"I think that's the first compliment you've ever given me."

"Well, if you could have produced tech on that level before, I wouldn't have fired you."

"I wouldn't have quit."

"Is that what you tell yourself?"

"You are testing my desire not to kill you."

"If you are sparring me, then why?"

"The gems, I went them both. Give them to me."

Andrias chuckled, "You think I have them? I'm afraid that you are misinformed. I am acquiring the green one, but I'm afraid we don't have anyone now."

"I didn't think the cat was yours, not your style. But you don't have the blue one?"

"I was thinking you stole it from Frakes, but it seems you don't have it either."

"Then I don't have any reason to keep you alive."

Andrias poured himself a glass, "Well, I think she will have something to say about it."

A knife flew through the air, knocking the blast away and pinning it to a wall via the trigger.

Yunan stood with her jacket off, revealing dozens of knives, shurikens, and other items.

"Bullseye," Andrias remarked, "Yunan here does love getting up close and personal in her fights, but her aim is even more impressive than what you have there."

"Well, see about that-"Heron pulled out another blast for it to be taken out of his hand by a pair of sharp pins.

Yunan smiled broadly, "Try to make this fight interesting."

Toomes pulled out a staff that glowed with purple energy at the tips. With a flick of a button, it extended to full length. Yunan charged at him, her claws extended and a wild glee in her eyes. She threw a pair of blades which Heron barely dodged. The staff collided with the claws as they struggled to overcome the other. That fact got under Toomes skin. How could this woman be keeping up against him and a suit with some of the best tech he could come up with it? He considered trying to fly up but indoors- even in a room this big- he could only get so much distance. And Yunan had already proven that wouldn't be enough. A blade erupted on his gauntlet, and he used it to block her next blow. He was a scientist, and though he could make weapons, he wasn't exactly an expert in using them. He needed something to change the tide in his favor.

The lights all turned off, and the slight confusion gave him a chance to fall back. The Suits infrared turned on, and while Yunan was talented, she couldn't see in the dark. He saw her take a pair of blades and prepare to block anything. Toomes considered attacking Andrias at this moment, but Yunan was a step ahead. She put herself between him and Andrias. Toomes could try something but Yunan would take the hit, and he imagined she'd be able to deflect even in pitch black.

"Is this party invite only? Or am I crashing it?"

Toomes turned his attention to a corner where a familiar blonde girl in a suit stood. Before he could take this in, she charged at him, clawed out, and tackled him. She slammed him into the wall knocking the air out of his lungs. His mind tried to process this. How was this possible? She was a teen. She didn't have enough mass to hit her with this force? How did she bridge the gap so fast? She was slashing at him tearing the suit and weapons and damaging his helmet. How could she fight him with such precision? His helmet only let him see so much.

That claw pierced his chest. He looked at her rage-filled face and saw her eyes glowing red.

"Sir, we need to go!" Yunan whispered to Andrias.

Andrias smiled; Yunan was loud and arrogant but genuinely a marvel. In the dark, Yunan, even during the fight, kept a perfect picture in her mind of where he was, where everything in the room was, and even in the dark, she had a perfect picture in her mind. She had no idea what was happening but knew it was time to take Andrias away.

Andrias knew she was expensive but certainly worth the money. They left the room unnoticed as the others continued to fight, well, tried to.

"Aaaaah!"

There were flashes of light as someone ran in screaming with several drones firing.

"What?" The Black Cat asked just as the Heron managed to kick her in the torso away.

The computer in his suit flickered on as he tried to force it on. He quickly broke into the building wifi and the wireless controls to get the light back on; with his helmet damaged, he needed light.

The room was filled with light, and he saw how things had turned.

The Spider-Frog had rushed into the room with his drones following behind her, and she was forced to jump behind the tables for cover. Andrias and his guard her close enough.

Heron laughed out, "AHAHAHAHA! This couldn't work out better than I wanted!"

Heron took control of the drones and gave them new orders to kill anyone who wasn't him.

The drones paused for a moment and turned and prepared.

0000

The Police officers were busy using this chance to get everyone away from this battle zone. Drones, weird kids in crazy suits, and a guy in a flying suit were way too much for any of them, and they had to do what they could.

When their radios rang out about some important news, other officers were already dealing with the other part, but something interesting was set out for them. They had to get the Heron.

0000

"Get behind the stage!" Yunan used all her might to push Andrias behind the stage where the band was supposed to perform. With her agility, she grabbed a table and used it for shielding, a few bullets grazing her.

The Black Cat was bouncing off the wall, avoiding the gunfire. The Spider freak was avoiding them by the skin of their hair.

Anne, even mid-dodge, saw Heron laughing. She thought about Marcy. All the extra thought faded away in her mind, even the sound of her heart beating vanished, and she was left with the tingle. She wasn't thinking now, her body moving on its own, avoiding bullets with the ease and grace of a dancer. She moved closer and closer to the Heron.

If there was any thought in her head, it was the image of Marcy in the hospital bed, the idea that Sasha and her parents could end up the same or worse.

Anne couldn't let that happen.

Anne shot her web, dragged a drone toward her, and drove her fist through it. Anne crushed its insides with her fist and held the drone to use it as a shield. Anne charged at the Heron, blocking the bullets with her shield, and slammed into the Heron with enough force to drive him through the wall.

"What the hell?!" the Black Cat yelled; dodging a few more attacks, she followed them through the hole.

Yunan wasn't resting on her laurels, and she was switching tables for tables as they were getting shot at. Then she pulled off a blaster from the wall that she pinned herself.

Taking hold of it, she leaped into the air and fired 13 shots and hit 13 targets, and dropped 13 drones. Yunan smiled, "Oh! I like this!"

"You can keep it." Andrias commended. The blast had burned holes right through the drones. The other drones had followed the strange trio.

He stared at the other blaster and the drones. He took out his phone and called some people.

0000

Heron was getting beat by a second teenage girl, and he had enough of it. A pulse of electricity surged out of his suit and blasted Spider-Frog away. This whole thing had gone sideways. His suit struggled to turn on, but only basic controls remained. It would take a few minutes for it to boot up fully.

Black Cat slammed him again and moved to his neck, her clawed hand gripping.

"You killed him!"

"Wha-"He tried to get out.

"You hired the Chameleon just for a rock!"

Heron felt the tips dig into his neck, blood threatening to escape.

Anne was fuzzy after getting shocked.

Anne! Wake up!

Anne opened her eyes to see Black Cat trying to kill Heron. Part of her wanted her to do it to know that it was over and she didn't have to get her hands dirty. But then she thought back to when she nearly killed the Chameleon.

It wasn't right.

Spider-Frog shot a web and yanked back the Black Cat.

"What?" Black Cat let out. "What are you doing?"

"You can't."

"Do you know what he is responsible for?"

"The Chameleon," Spider Frog told her, "He's the one behind her, and I don't know what else he's done. I know he attacked the musueme."

The Black Cat grit her teeth, "He nearly killed a girl there, he hired the Chameleon who nearly got another girl killed, and know who else. Who knows who else he's hurt!" Tears started to escape her eyes.

"Yeah, but do you want to end up like him?" Spider-Frog forced herself up on her feet.

"I'll risk it."

Before she could react, Spider-Frog jumped her and got her to the ground. Angry at this attempt to stop her, she dug her nails into her side. Spider-Frog groaned in pain, but she almost didn't hear it from the gunfire. Spider-Frog was using her body and the remains of the drone to block the gunfire. The Cat didn't notice the drones coming, but Spider-Frog had, and even arguing, she saved her. The cat pulled out the claws, and she could see her own eyes reflected in the lenses of the spider mask. She found herself looking away.

Cat also realized a girl with a very well-built body was right on top of her.

"Move and Block!" Black Cat pushed Spider-Frog up.

The drones focused fire onto the makeshift shield, and the cat leaped into the air over them, crashing into the drone. The Cat ripped through the drones and hurled another into one. Spider-Frog started shooting her webs into the drones. As they lost control, she began to deliver punch after punch, denting them. The Cat and the Spider found themselves back to back, and they worked on taking down the drones.

They spun together, knocking out the last few drones with kicks.

Both girls paused and looked at each other, "Super Dance Fun Time Fusion."

"Yeah."

The Heron clapped, "That was impressive, but sorry you won't win this one."

He tapped a device on his wrist, "Well, it's a been a blast, girls, but I'm not going to jail."

All the drones started to beep in unison.

"Shit! These things are about to blow. He's going to take us with him!"

The Heron sighed; this was his last-ditch plan. He planned to fly away when this was over and leave a bang. If he were lucky, he'd get Andrias with this blast.

The Cat grabbed a nearby chair and hurled it through a window jumping out of it.

Heron closed his eyes and prepared for the end.

"Come on." Spider-Frog, with some effort, got Heron and up, "Move!"

It was hard. She was tired, but she still forced her body to hold up this man, but she still jumped out the window with him just as the drones exploded.

0000

He hit the ground hard. Even with the helmet, he was feeling the explosion's force. He got some distance from the teen and walked forwards. The wings on his suit were booting up slowly, but the propellers got up, and with a deep breath, he got up into the air. This was at least his chance to escape.

"No!" Spider-Frog shot webs at his feet and held herself to the ground. "I don't want you dead, but I'm not letting you go!"

One last weapon, the wings would shoot out the feathers and hit everything, would throw off his balance, and it was a one-time thing, but if he could escape, it would be worth it.

That was until the cat leaped onto his back and sliced off his wings. The Heron hit the ground hard as the girl ensured he was pinned. Spider-Frog webbed up his hands and legs.

"Get on the ground!" The police barged in, and guns were drawn.

With the fires and the dark of the night, some only caught the barest glimpses of someone running away, but that wasn't the target.

The police all focused their guns on the man on the ground.

"Careful gentlemen, the suit has many safety features, and if you don't know what you're doing, it can harm you."

Someone expertly pressed the hidden button behind the helmet.

Toomes looked up to see Ford Pines examining the helmet, Lilith smiling, holding up plans.

"Thank you, Dr. Pines." One officer thanked him, "We will take it from here."

"How?" Toomes looked around, confused.

"Oh, we looked into anyone seeling this kind of technology to the army." Lilith explained, "It was a bit more basic, and the bird design is new, but he did find you tried to sell a suit to the army."

"A bit busy, honestly," Ford looked at the helmet, "The technology is top grade, too expensive for the government but could see the practicality of the whole bird of prey. Maybe should have tried with the air force."

Ford and his team had dug up mountains of evidence on Toomes dealing and handed it to the police, who were busy raiding his building and finding more evidence. They also warned the police about the safety feature on the suit preventing Toomes from escaping when someone tried to take the suit off.

Now that they had him and more evidence than they needed, they would make sure he wouldn't get out.

0000

Spider-Frog and the Black Cat watched on a rooftop as the police tore off the suit and carried Toomes away.

"He's not going to hurt anyone else." Spider-Frog sighed in relief.

Black Cat watched, "It doesn't undo what he did, doesn't bring people back."

"But it makes sure he won't hurt anyone else." She hissed in pain, holding her side.

"Yeah, sorry about that" She smirked, leaning in close, close enough that her warm breath seemed to tickle her, "Well, next time, know next time I get to be on top."

"Top?" Anne blinked until she remembered when she landed on the blonde in a skin suit and blushed, "Ah! Top-I mean, I- it wasn't-"

The Cat booped her nose, "Aren't you cute all flustered?"

Sprig jumped onto her shoulder and glared at the girl in black.

"You are really going with a theme, aren't you." She grimaced at the frog. "Not sure I would have gone with Spider-frog."

"It wasn't the name I picked, and it's not going to stick, is it?"

"Oh, it is!"

"Ugh!"

"Go with something simple next time. Like Black Cat! That's what you can call me, Spider." She flashed her a brilliant smile that, even for a second and maybe just found some peace from a burden.

"Until next time." She leaped off the building.

Anne, in her stopper, was confused for a second before she ran towards the edge. Anne looked around and didn't see the Black Cat.

I don't like her. She seems to mean.

"Sprig!"

Anne winced. She wasn't looking forward to her swing home.

0000

The Daily Trumpet was covered; the front page was covered in images of the Charity Ball Brawl, as people were calling it. On the front page was a picture of Spider-Frog fighting the drones. Some footage from security cams showed someone Toomes identified as the Black Cat.

The Daily Trumpet was selling out three who printings as their people had not only proven Toomes was the person behind this but were instrumental in his capture. They had details other papers couldn't get.

Sasha and Anne walked into the hospital to find the newly awakened Marcy with all the newspaper on her bed.

"Guys! Superheroes! I woke up, and there was a superhero fight!"

Sasha and Anne smiled before rushing for a hug from their friend. Marcy smiled eagerly to be reunited with her friends and to see this new exciting world.

0000

Three figures stood in the dark in front of several holographic screens displaying people in shadows.

"What do you have to say for yourself?"

The one wearing an eye patch sighed, "A couple of teens just ruined the whole masquerade. I got a Hulking Owl Beast roaming America, people hitting puberty and developing powers, a ghost girl in the midwest, a crazy star-powered witch, and exotic tech about to hit the streets and now superheroes."

The board looked confused, "I expected something else from you."

"Don't get me wrong, this bad. This isn't cracks in the damn—this the damn bursting. We've been trying to keep this hidden for ages, and it was inevitable that something was going to get through. This will encourage people; marvels, mutants, and monsters will come out of woodworks. The next question is, what are we going to do? Hiding them is no longer an option."

"What do you have in mind?"

0000

A red-haired young woman held a golden necklace around her neck that projected the image of three brilliant stars.

"Well, I guess I should look into this."

0000

A blind woman sat in her chair as a parrot sat on her shoulder. She tapped on her staff and mused, "They have been chosen, the will of the web must be done."

0000

Andrias smiled as he walked deeper into the lab, Yunan beside him.

"Olivia."

A woman with short, well-kept hair and wearing a lab coat walked toward the towering figure. "Sir?"

"How goes it?"

"It goes well, and Luckily we managed to disable to self-destruct system before they went off. I've already started to reverse engineer the drones and weapons you acquired. For his many faults, Toomes had some talent in engineering."

Yunan had picked up a new blaster Olivia had been developing. She checked the sight and accidentally fired it, blasting a hole into the wall.

"Not a toy," Olivia took it from Yunan and placed it on a table.

"Good, good, but now onto the main event,"

Olivia gave him a slight smile, "It arrived this morning," She led them a short distance to a secure room where a green gemstone sat in the middle of a container.

"Give me a moment." Andrias smiled. The others left Andrias alone.

The door closed behind him Andrias fiddled with the pin on his lapel, which began to glow orange. "We have one, we've lost the blue one, but I am suspicious of who has it. Maybe even the third one. We might find ways to draw out this so-called hero."

Author’s Notes: Well the first arc is done and as you might guess this isn’t the last one. I’ve sprinkled a few hints of stuff thats a head.  This chapter was longer then I expected but here we are.

Yunan is going to have elements of Bullseye and Lady Bullseye.  I am actually having fun figuring out these mash ups.  Tell me what ideas you have for spider-amphibian characters.

Otherwise leave me a review telling what you guys think. What you guys thought worked and what you liked.

Chapter 04: 3, 2, 1 Let’s Jam

It was late at night, and there was no silence as an explosion ripped through the bank wall. Three Burly figures walked through the newly made hole.

A man with dark reddish hair held a glowing crowbar. This was Bog his friends knew him as Wrecker.

Next to him was Fens. She had her dark green hair tied into a braided ponytail. She had a demolition ball on a chain and was known as Thunderball because of it.

Lastly, Mire was a wimpy-looking man who hid his features with a face-hiding helmet with a construction helmet design on top. People called him Bulldozer because of her intimidating look with that odd helmet. The others wore ski masks as they walked into the bank.

This group was known as the Wrecking Crew, mainly cause they tended to wreck up any place they robbed.

Wrecker smiled under his mask and strolled into the now-empty bank. "The cops will be here any moment, and let's get into the vault."

"What's up, guys? Did you forget your PIN?"

The trio turned around to see the infamous Spider-Frog descending via the web, all upside down.

Anne had initially considered putting the suit away after the Heron was exposed and arrested, but rumors started coming around that people had gotten some weird weapons. Anne worried that some of Toomes weapons had gotten down to the streets, and she knew the police couldn't deal with them.

Anne had snuck out every night, trying to find the people behind this mess. In the meantime, she wanted to work on repairing her rep. Several people wanted her arrested, and some thought she took the Chameleon's face and cut her arm off. So Anne was trying to help where she could, she stopped a few muggers and such, and a bank robbery would be a nice change of pace.

"Oh, about you put down the tools, and I just leave you webbed up for the cops?"

"You're not taking my arm!" Thunderball yelled out, rushing at her. She swung the ball at Spider-Frog, who jumped out of the way.

Spider-Frog had to admit that Thunderball was faster than the average person, but with the tingle she had enough notice and her superior speed, it was easy to dodge it.

"Look, I don't know who took off her arm, but it wasn't me!" Spider-Anne tried to protest, dodging another wild attack.

Sprig jumped onto her shoulder, "Move!"

Spider-Frog sighed, "Don't worry about it. I-"

Bulldozer slammed into her with enough force that the wall cracked behind them. Spider-Frog huffed and forced Bulldozer away with a powerful kick.

Sprig clicked his tongue, "Yeah, I was trying to warn you about him."

The tingle warned her about dangers, but sometimes it was tricky. If Anne was distracted, she might not notice the warning, or if there were multiple dangers, she might not react to the immediate one in time.

"Okay, let's be a little clearer about these things."

"Is she talking to a frog?" Thunderball asked.

"People talk animals all the time!"

Spider-Froh collapsed to the ground as a crowbar hit her.

"Watch out." Sprig added as an afterthought.

"Not the time-"

Sprig had to jump back as the three started attacking her. Her head ached, and the tingle was everywhere at once. She held out her arms, doing her best to block their blows.

"Get ready to move!" Sprig yelled in her head.

The small frog jumped onto Bulldozer's helmet and turned it around, blinding him. With Bulldozer struggling to fix his helmet, it gave Spider-Frog an opening to push back her other attackers.

She groaned in pain as the sounds of sirens filled the air.

Wrecker growled, "Let's get going."

Thunderball helped Bulldozer fix his helmet as they started getting away.

"Come back here!" Spider-Frog yelled out as she tried to tumble towards the exit.

Sprig jumped onto her shoulder, "Are you okay?"

"Yup!" Spider-Frog nearly collapsed.

The squad cars quickly stopped in front of the bank. The police pulled out their guns, "Spider-Frog hands in the air. You are wanted for vigilanteism, assault on the criminal known as the Chameleon,"

"I didn't do that!"

"Destruction of a police car."

"Okay, that was an accident."

The police were not going to listen, so Spider-Frog raised her hands, and as the police approached her, she shot web out and quickly pulled herself up.

Spider-Frog quickly went to hide and the shadows and ran.

0000

Anne stumbled to her house and snuck back into her room. With some struggle, she got out of the costume and into her pajamas.

"Are you going to be okay?" Sprig asked.

"Yeah, I just need some sleep." Almost as soon as she finished, she collapsed onto the bed, her eyes closing.

"Good night."

The room was dark except for the faint blue light of a glowing gem at the bottom of the terrarium pool. Sprig quickly jumped back into the tank and slept nearby his family.

0000

The back door opened, and she walked in, making her way toward the storefront in the back.

"Yo! Tinkers, you ready!"

Three similar-looking men, all think, gawky and wearing thick glasses, tumbled out. They were also known as Triple B, or Bartley, Branson, and Blair.

"Hey nerds," The Black Cat greeted them, "You go it?"

The Tinkers were geniuses and ran an old electronics shop by day, but if you were in the know, you could come to them to have them build what you needed. Criminals would often go to them to make them gadgets to break into places, undo locks, shut down security systems, special weapons, and the like.

The Cat was there to pick up her order.

"Yeah, we have it," Bratley brought over a box.

"We made your grappling hooks. Made them in them with the whole cat thing you got going." Branson added.

Blair added, "You got some spider envy?"

Black Cat glared at Blair, making him flinch, "Envy? No. Just thought it was cool to swing around."

Bartley added, "You sure? There is no strong evidence besides a few blurry pictures and the word of the bird boy that you were there. You are nothing more than an urban legend, unlike the Spider-Frog." He shrugged, "Maybe you wanted some attention."

"Psh, I'm the infamous Black Cat. A phantom thief that doesn't leave a trace, why would I want attention."

Branson scoffed, "Please, the stories of a Black Cat thief go back at least 80 years, some suggestions some crimes might have been caused going back 120 years ago. It's not hard to figure it's a title that gets passed on. Especially considering the last one was supposed to be a guy."

Black Cat sighed and rolled her eyes, and the claws popped out, "Well if you want to fight me on it, I can give you a close-up look at the vibranium claws you guys were so interested in."

The brothers all moved back, "How about no?"

"How about you just tell me how much I owe?"

In the morning, Anne woke up with her head hurt a little, but it wasn't as bad as it was. She'd discovered that, along with her other powers, she could heal quickly, not fast enough to regrow an arm or anything but enough that bruises and cuts weren't that big of an issue if she got time to rest. She was sure more significant injuries would take longer but more reason to avoid them.

Lilith Clawthorne sighed as she pushed her glasses onto her forehead. Tired, she rubbed her eyes. Her screen flashed reports of an owl-like monster spotted near Connecticut and new reports of similar in New Mexico.

Lilith rubbed her temples; there had been rumors about such a creature for a while. Some of these reports were just urban legends and stories from crackpots. It was her job to figure out which were real and which weren't.

Ford walked in, "Lilith, good to see you here too early."

She wasn't early. She just hadn't gone home.

"If you ready, there was some robbery last night. Spider-Frog was seen there. Ready to go investigate?"

Lilith yawned, "Yes, of course, maybe let me get some coffee."

0000

Anne made her way to school, she was still in mild pain, but considering she got beat up by three adults, she was probably doing better than most people would be. She could be faster than most, but it made her sleep restless. She was still tired, and luckily she wasn't doing anything for tennis, less time in the locker rooms, and less chance of people seeing and asking about any bruises.

"Boonchuy! Little help with Miss Wu here."

Anne's expression brightened. Today was when Marcy was going to come back to school.

Sasha waved her over. She was holding a mess of books as Marcy followed her in crutches and her leg in a cast.

"Marcy has so many books!" Sasha grumbled. It's not that she couldn't carry them. Marcy, who barely worked out, could carry them she could. No, it was just a lot of books.

Marcy smiled, "Sorry, I have a lot of work to catch up on."

"No problem," Anne took half the books as they walked into the school.

"We missed you," Anne continued,

"And don't make plans today. We will take you to your favorite restaurant and get that sword!"

Someone stepped out of the principal's office as they walked through the halls. Principal Murphy walked out a young man in a black hoodie with a broken heart and a collared shit sticking out of it. His hair was greasy and slicked back, and he was rather pale.

Murphy smiled, "I'm sorry, Mister Valentino. I don't think you are a good fit for the music program."

"Yeah, I get it. What a shocker." He mumbled as he walked out.

Principal Murphy wanted to say something but didn't have it in her. The man was undoubtedly enthusiastic about music but lacked formal training and specific degrees. She had to deny him the job.

"Welcome Back, Marcy," Principal Murphy greeted the students, who'd watched the young man leave. "If you need anything, be sure to let me know."

0000

Robbie Valentino was out of luck and decided to leave Oregon and follow his musical dreams. That plan didn't work out well, and he'd gone a month between gigs. He made very little, and he was running out of cash. He hadn't managed to get a single gig all his time in LA. He finally broke down. If he couldn't do it, he'd teach, but he couldn't even do that.

He drove around all day, getting rejection after rejection.

He stopped at an ATM, put in his card, and did the usual, only to be told he was overdrawn. His life was not supposed to be this. He promised himself he'd be big and famous.

He didn't know for long he wanted to scream. He got back into his van and spent minutes there just thinking about his life. His parents are always smothering him, living in a nowhere town, and the only girls who gave him time eventually both dumped him. Everything was so dull in life, and he felt that there were days he couldn't remember cause nothing happened.

His life wasn't supposed to be like this.

He let his head drop onto the steering wheel, a loud noise jostling.

"I guess I'm just good at making noise." A thought struck him, he hesitated at first but now it seemed so clear. He didn't have another choice.

He made his way into the back of the van and found a box near a broken amp. He opened a box and got the thing from this old lady at a yard sale. He found a gnarly-looking case. It looked like a screaming face, but he tossed it aside. Inside he found twin devices, something he had attached to his speaker before they blew them apart. He got them from a yard sale from a crazy coot, he thought they were to hype up musical instruments, but he found they did something else.

0000

Lilith was tired, and she'd barely slept the previous night. This day was filled with talking to police officers, filling out paperwork to access video footage and a ton of notes, and finally getting a chance to speak to the bank manager. It made sense that the manager couldn't see them right away. He had a mess to deal with, the massive hole in the wall and everything.

Ford was walking beside her, mumbling about possible explanations for those strange tools the thieves had.

"The molecular density must be enhanced, I had a friend who theorized on the subject. I wonder if this exotic tech has anything to do with Toomes. Some experimental tech of his has gotten on the street, others deciding that such technology has greater use as weapons-"

Usually, Lilith would be excited about all this, but she could use a nap. She took off her glasses and used a tissue to wipe them clean.

She blinked as a young man with his hood up walked past her.

"What do you think?" Ford asked her.

"Well-"

Before Lilith could even continue, a tremendous sound tore through the air behind them. They turned around to see the man with his fist raised. He seemed to hear some device on his wrist that buzzed with power, and a concussive blast of sounds ripped out, shattering the walls and ATM. Money exploded outwards and into the air.

"Make it rain!" He cheered.

"Hey!" Lilith yelled out.

The man turned his devices, still active, and turned the deadly sound wave towards them. Ford quickly pushed Lilith to the ground letting the wall behind them get his and debris falling on them as it collapsed.

"Whoops!" Robbie let out.

He didn't intend to attack people but spilled milk and all that. He turned off the devices and stuffed his pockets with money before returning to his van. After all, why stop at only one bank?

Robbie looked at the gauntlets and decided with a city this big, and there were plenty of ATMs and banks one could visit.

0000

Anne, Sasha, and Marcy were having dinner at Thai Go. Marcy and Sasha found themselves both missing the Boonchuy's cooking.

"This is great, Mrs. B!" Marcy complimented, "Maybe it's because I was stuck eating all that hospital food, but this is great!"

"She's right!" Sasha beamed, "I didn't know how much I missed it!"

"We missed you too." Mrs. B told them, "It's great to see the three of you together. Now, I'm bringing out some more food if you are still hungry." She turned to her husband. "Honey, help me get-"

She paused as she saw what he was looking at.

There was a news story playing on the tv screen. The screen flashed the images of Ford Pines and Lilith Clawthorne. They had been caught in a collapsing bank and rushed to the hospital.

Anne's went wide, and they quickly turned to breaking news. They knew exactly who had caused the incident at the bank, and they knew it because he'd gone to several other banks.

The screen flashed to live footage from what looked to be a disaster. In the middle of this disaster was a man with his hood pulled up, laughing wildly. Air seemed to ripple around his arms as sound tore them hurling back a police car. He continued to laugh as he jumped on top of the overturned car, the king of his little world.

The police could only flee and force back the civilians, which was the last thing they saw before the signal cut.

Marcy looked in awe at the incredible technology on display, and she detested that it was being used for such destruction and that a new villain had shown up but was in awe of what it could mean.

Sasha stared horrified and amazed by the sheer power that bean pole seemed to have gotten his hands on.

Anne's mind races with fears of thought and guilt. Had people gotten hurt? She had to do something, and she was the only one who could. While she was out with her friend, some crazy guy was wrecking the town. She had to find a way there-

Anne felt her mother's hands squeeze her should. They held her tightly. It took her a moment to realize that her mother was scared that these new dangers would hurt her daughter again. Anne knew there was no way she could sneak away.

Mister B insisted on driving the girls home to ensure they got there safely.

0000

Robbie had snuck back into his motel room and did something bordering on cliche. He threw all his ill-gotten gains onto the bed and jumped onto it. He threw the money into the and laughed. He was so lost in his reverie that it took him a second to realize that some buildings weren't landing on the floor. Some were clinging to something—some invisible things standing before his bed.

"What?"

Something grabbed him and slammed him to the wall, he felt something clasped against his throat.

A gutter gravely voice spoke, "I expected something more impressive than a snot nose brat."

"Hey-" Robbie began but felt fingers tighten around his neck.

One of the gauntlets pulled off, and as he tried to turn the other, his invisible assailant grabbed his arm and turned to Robbie's head.

"Yes, to try it, or you can listen."

“…”

"I take it from you not blowing up your head. You are willing to listen."

Robbie tried to nod and was dropped. He slumped to the ground and took a deep breath.

There was a flicker of light and a growl-like sound, and a man became visible. He wore a purple helmet mask with white eyes against a black pattern. He wore dark green and black body armor and a black and purple cape.

"Dig, the cape." Robbie spat out.

"Honestly, I am not impressed. I saw the havoc you were causing. I thought you could be useful."

"What?"

"I came to offer you a job."

"Oh! Well, I can type about 60 words per minute, I have a High School Diploma, I am a people person, and I self-.

"Shut up!" He grumbled.

Robbie tried to focus his eyes. The man wasn't tall but strong and built like a linebacker.

Robbie noticed that his hands were shaking. "What-"

"Yeah, I noticed that. Even for a weakling, your hand was too easy to turn. Those devices vibrate. It must be like holding on to the jackhammers at once. If you don't deal with it, you'll likely break the bones in your body. You leave a lot to be desired, but no one said I am unwilling to put some work into it."

"What going on?"

"I am starting a new criminal organization and offering you a chance on the ground floor."

"Hm, I'm doing fine for myself." He said, trying to hide his shaking hands.

"Yes, damaging your body, and attacking cops like an idiot. You have the element of shock and surprise, but when that fades, all it would take is a shot to the head." He tapped Robbie's head for emphasis.

"It's why we tend to work in the shadows, but this is a new world. The times are changing. I need to change too. If you can use your head a little more, I can provide you with resources and aid and make some real money."

"I do like money."

He pulled out a card from a pocket and tossed it at Robbie, "Consider this a trial. Go to them and use my name and get your equipment fixed. Then surprise me, do something impressive. Hurt Andrias King somehow, damage a building, the man, or his wallet, you pick."

"Hm, okay, I'm in." Robbie smiled. "Who do I say you are? I mean, you didn't give me a name."

"Grimes. "

With that word, he vanished, and the door swung open.

"Okay," Robbie called out, "I guess you call me."

0000

The Black Cat was in her home getting suited up. The Heron and the Chameleon were out of the picture, her dad would want her to move on. He wouldn't want her to take up the title, not after…

An idiot was running around with some super weapon. It was only a matter of time before he got killed or someone took it, and why shouldn't that be her? This would be a lot more fun too.

0000

Marcy was dropped off at home, and she quickly got to work. She had finished her homework in a flash so she got onto her projects. Her room was filled with drawings of suits and blueprints. There were blueprints of gadgets and even a mech suit. Theoretically, she could build it with time and supplies, but the power source would be near impossible. She would need a powerful and small, and cold fusion wasn't a thing yet.

Marcy furiously worked on devices. The news report proved to her that the world was changing. That the Heron wouldn't be the only villain. The city needed heroes.

Chapter 05: Bring in the Noise

Robbie didn't know what to expect; he didn't expect three nerd brothers to make him a suit. They had gotten a call from the old dude with a heads up that he'd cover the cost for now and expected Robbie to pay him back.

Robbie wasn't sure about that, but you had to spend money to make money. He could just about cover it with the money. He wouldn't be so sore about it if it got him more money.

The Triple B brothers work busy working on his stuff.

Bartley measures him out, "Well, aren't you a lanky fellow."

Branson sighed, "We should just be able to make enough fabric. Sound-resistant fabric isn't too hard to make but does take up a lot of material."

Bartley continued, "I can't believe you were using those things without protection. The vibrations alone would shatter your bones long enough. Even if you could endure your arm bones shattering, your organs and other bones would go the same way."

Blair looked up from the gauntlets; he'd been refining them, "And this tech is impressive but rough. It was not designed for what you used them for; you're lucky they didn't blow up."

"Can I stop getting so much lip?"

"No," All three said.

This service came with a side of the lip.

"Can we hurry?"

Blair shook his head, "You can either have good, quick, or cheap service. You're not getting any of those here."

Robbie grumbled, "This better be worth it."

0000

Anne snuck back into her room late at night. The moment she got a chance to get out without her parents noticing, she did. She was exhausted and just collapsed onto the bed.

Sprig jumped off her shoulder, "Are you okay?"

"I'm tired."

"I get it; you've been swinging like crazy all night. I told you, you should have gone to bed. Nothing was happening."

Half asleep already, "I had to make sure no one was going to get hurt."

0000

A woman sat alone in the corner of a seedy bar in the middle of nowhere. She tried to numb herself with the liquor. The woman barely noticed the TV in the dark room.,

"Caught in the rubble were Stanford Pines and Lilith Clawthorne."

Her eyes went wide, "Lily?!"

Her eyes glowed yellow.

0000

"Wake up!"

Robbie had fallen asleep in a chair. One of the brothers handed him a paper bag, "Try not to kill yourself."

Robbie blinked, looking inside; there was a black and red costume and the gauntlets in their new form. They certainly seemed more slick; maybe this wasn't such a bad thing.

He took a moment to slip into the red and black suit, "Don't like the quilt pattern."

Blair huffed, "Well, the pattern helps prevent the sonic forces from bursting you like a bubble. I could remove them if you want."

"Uh, never mind," Robbie slipped on the gauntlet, and he felt a sort of power having it on, and a smile crept on his face.

0000

Anne was barely awake at school; she didn't sleep much or well. At her desk, Marcy was writing in her notebook and making sketches. Sasha was asleep with a book over her face. Anne wasn't sure what the teacher was going on about.

"Are you okay?" Sprig whispered into her mind.

Sprig had decided to hitch a ride in her bag to ensure she was okay at school.

"I'm fine," Anne whispered, her eyes half open.

Sprig didn't believe it, Anne stayed awake all night swinging, trying to find the guy, but she'd tired herself out.

"Look, we got to get you a nap when school is over."

"We got to find the guy before anyone gets hurt-" she stopped herself, "Before anyone else gets hurt."

Sprig wanted to argue, they were the only ones who could stop them, but Anne was running herself ragged. It hurt him to see her wearing herself away, she was trying to help, but she was only hurting herself.

0000

The doors to the bank swung open, and Robbie walked in. Robbie would be lying if he said he wasn't nervous; he could feel his heart beating in his chest. It wasn't all that bad of a feeling; it was like the first time he had gotten on stage and performed. That didn't end up well, he'd gotten booed, and most people didn't even bother to listen.

They'd listen; they'd all know him.

He pulled on his mask; a security guard saw him and moved towards him, grabbing the taser at his side. Robbie raised his arm and pressed the trigger; a blast of sound erupted, blasting the rent a cop away.

"Everyone down on the ground!"

Fearfully the customers did so.

With another press of the button, the teller erupted the staff ran as far as they could.

Dust and debris filled the air, but he confidently walked towards the vault. He stood before the giant steel door; he raised his arms. Soon sound tore towards the vault, the steel creek under the force; Robbie held the button down and started to shake before the vault door ripped apart.

Robbie walked in, laughing as money floated in the air.

Moments later, Robbie was dragging bags of money out of the bank.

The sounds of sirens filled the air as the cop's cars raced towards the bank.

Under the mask, Robbie smiled, "Okay, let's have an encore."

The sirens were overpowered as the cop's cars were launched into the air by sound.

0000

During Lunch, Sasha watched the news on her phone. Just about everyone was sticking to their phones, watching news reports.

Well, Anne was asleep in her lunch.

Sasha ignored that for the moment; this thief was an overpowered smash-and-grab thief. He was running into banks and stealing everything he could carry. No stealth or anything,

It is effective, though.

The punk had spent the afternoon robbing five backs; they estimated he was nearing a million in stolen money.

If she got her hands on him, she'd-

BLEEP. BLEEP. BLEEP.

Everyone's phones started to ring up with the news.

Sasha's eyes went wide, "Oh shi-"

0000

Robbie wasn't smart; he didn't know when to leave well enough. After a few banks, he felt invincible since the cops couldn't touch him.

Robbie also didn't understand that even if you are wearing bulletproof clothing, it still hurt.

While Robbie did have range and no cop could easily get close to him, they had snipers. While Robbie was laughing and tossing cars aside, a sniper on a roof managed to land a hit. The suit saved his life, but the force was still enough to knock the air out of his lung on his back.

At that point, the Police went to disarm him, and he luckily managed to jump up before they could. He managed to get away and jump into his van.

They wouldn't have been able to set up a sniper if he didn't keep going to banks on his way back to his hotel. So it wasn't hard for the cops to figure out which one he would be going on, even if he wasn't making a huge spectacle of it.

So that brings us back to his current situation. Riobbie was driving his van in a police chase; dollar bills from his previous robberies escaped the widow.

"Dammit!" Robbie yelled as he drove; he felt the bruise on his chest forming.

Robbie was grumbling to himself; he wondered if he could win in a standoff with the entire police department or finish it quickly.

He wished he got Grimes's number. Maybe he knew how to get away from this.

Robbie isn't a criminal mastermind; he also isn't a great driver.

He turned too quickly in his distracted state, and the van flipped over and tossed over.

The Police stopped, pulled out their weapons, and aimed them.

"Come out with your hands up!"

"If you insist!" Robbie jumped, arms raised; he didn't hesitate to pull the trigger; a wave of sound crushed any fired bullets, and the cops and their cars were pushed back.

Robbie finally stopped. Most of the Police were out or trying to help their fellow officers who were hurt or needed to be pulled out of cars.

Using this as his chance Robbie ran odd, he'd have to leave the cash, but if he escaped, he could always make up for it.

He had to hide; his head ached from the crash, so he had to find a place to hide until he could escape.

0000

Anne woke up with the school bells ringing.

"Come on, and we got to go." Sasha woke Anne; Sasha wasn't wasting time helping Marcy get up from her crutches and move.

"Wha-"

The windows shattered; Anne glanced at her phone, buzzing with news alerts.

It was a news report about a chase that was not only getting close to the school, it was happening right outside; the school was going into lockdown. Teachers and other staff were leading any students in Cafeteria away from there, and the crash happened right outside.

"Anne." Sprig's voice ran out in her mind. "No, you're too tired."

"Anne, let's go!" Sasha called; she was already at the doors with Marcy.

"Go!" Sprig popped out of the bag, yelling at Anne to go.

It was too late sound shattered the walls hurling everyone away. A rush of students ran out the door, pushing out Sasha and Marcy as they fled.

Robbie walked into the newly made hole. Some of the students were hiding behind tables or whatever they could.

Robbie walked in, not caring. He tried to focus but couldn't. He vaguely knew he was in a school; Robbie figured he'd be safe there; the cops wouldn't dare risk the kids getting hurt when fighting him. Robbie decided to get to the center of the school.

Anne blinked under a table that landed on her, her ears ringing.

Anne saw him walk away and enter the school where her friends were. Anne flipped the table off her and ran into the school, just grabbing her backpack. Normally that would reveal her identity to the school, but that didn't matter. With the walls blown out, there was plenty of dust in the air, and everyone was now running out, so no one noticed. Anne didn't care if she did. She had to save them.

"Anne!" Sprig called out; he'd fallen out of the bag when everything got tossed around. He didn't have time to think, Anne was tired and not thinking straight he had to find her. Sprig knew Anne would go after the bank robber, and normally he'd be all for it, but she was pushing herself too hard. She was going to get herself hurt.

The little frog jumped after her.

0000

Sasha finally pulled away from the crowd and into an empty room.

She grabbed her bag, took out her suit; she pulled out her chocker. Sasha had considered keeping it on full-time, but she thought people might notice if the Black Cat had the same chocker she did. Maybe she could lie, and she liked it and copied the look. Inside the chocker was the glowing gem; whenever she wore it, she could feel the surge in power and would need it.

Sasha hated that she lost Marcy; they got split up in the crow; Sasha could only help that the students would all get somewhere safe, dragging her away.

As she got dressed, Sasha thought, "Black Cat, huh? Maybe that name is perfect for me."

Since the day she got back, her friends had been in trouble; the very day she got back, Anne got grabbed by the Heron, then Marcy got hurt on their Mall trip. Was she dragging trouble to them?

Was she bad luck?

Is that why her dad-?

No, she couldn't stay on the thoughts, is this new guy wanted to attack her turf, she'd have something to say about it.

0000

Anne slipped on her Spider-Frog outfit; she couldn't hurt anyone. Images of Marcy on the ground injured after the Chameleon flashed her might; her breath seemed to leave her, and her heart raced. She forced the emotion down; she had to find and stop this guy. She jumped out of the broom closet and ran out; the guy wouldn't be hard to find; he was certainly making enough noise.

0000

Robbie was exhausted; the adrenaline was wearing off.

He blinked; he saw Principle Murphy trying to help a girl get up from where she had fallen; it looked like she had twisted her ankle.

Robbie felt a twitch in his fingers, "Well, Well, Well,"

Murphy turned around to realize who was there; it took a second to remember the voice.

"Mister Valentino."

"So, what was it you said? That I Wasn't a good fit? Well, maybe I could show you some of my music?"

He held out his arms; he must have driven here because it was familiar; Robbie never thought he'd see her again, but getting a bit of revenge on one of the many people who rejected him would probably make this day better.

Murphy through her body over the student, hoping to shield them as much as she could. The air shook as the blast of sound erupted. Murphy braced herself and felt like she was in a wind tunnel but wasn't hurt. Murphy dared looked behind her and saw someone standing there.

"Spider-Frog?"

"Run," She managed out.

Robbie was surprised; the girl had jumped in and taken the blast head-on.

Robbie blinked, trying to sound tough, "Well, that's a shocker. Didn't expect you here. Why don't you get out of the way so I can finish what I'm doing?"

"No."

"Fine, suit yourself." He fired again, and they could barely hear her scream run as the sound erupted.

Murphy picked up the student and ran.

Spider-Frog stuck to the floor and stretched her hands so she could stick to the walls. The wall of sound erupted out, hitting her, tearing at her costume, and tearing into her skin.

Robbie stared, confused, he didn't care about this girl and did the gauntlet on the lowest setting, but up close, she should be down for the count.

He continued, "Just give up!"

He could almost see her yelling out no. Robbie was looking right at her, he'd backed down so many times before, but finally having power, he didn't feel like he needed to. This would-be hero was calling him out, and he had to stand up to her.

Robbie went to the trigger when an uppercut stopped them.

Sprig had followed the sound just in time to see the fight and that Anne was losing. Since Sprig was so small, Robbie didn't see him or know about his super strength. Sprig hit him hard enough that the attack launched him into the ceiling.

"Get away from her!"

As Robbie fell again, he spotted a small pink frog with goggles punching and throwing him down the hall.

"What the hell?" Robbie didn't know what to expect this morning but didn't expect a frog to start beating him up.

Robbie tried to swat at the Frog, but Sprig's tingle alerted him of the attack, and he dodged them. Sprig bounced around him, smacking the would-be villain.

"What the hell?!" Black Cat arrived to see the Spider's frog beating up the guy on the news. Then her attention was drawn to where Spider-Frog lay on the ground, hurt and bleeding. The Tiny little frog was forcing the weirdo away, chasing him as he tried to dodge the attacks.

"Damn!" She rushed to her side to check if she was even alive.

Spider-Frog gasped as Black Cat grabbed her; she felt like a second wind hit her.

"Are you all right?"

"Yeah, just got knocked out. Ah! Ah! My ears are ringing!"

Anne's body ached, but she felt better, even a little.

Black Cat said, "Love to see that you have a lot of stamina, but maybe you take a break."

"I can't." Spider-Frog stumbled to her feet.

"Yeah, look, the whole being a hero thing, I can respect that, but-"

Spider-Frog eyes glowed as her head ached; she felt like her head was tingling differently.

0000

Robbie was running down the halls, chased by the frog, and he had to sprint. This had quickly become one of his worst days; he was getting beat by an actual frog. He wanted to turn around and blast it, but he knew if he stopped to aim, he'd get smacked again; he had to find a way to turn the tables.

He quickly ran into the school gym, barely noting that as people screamed at his appearance. He kept running as a plan quickly unfolded before him; he reached and grabbed the slowest student.

He turned around, ensuring he had a firm grip on the student and turning his gauntlet towards them.

"Cool it, frog!"

Sprig came to a sudden halt.

"Oh no. Of all the people he had to grab, it had to be her."

Robbie had gotten Marcy; it wasn't so much bad luck. With her injuries, Marcy couldn't move as fast as the others.

With one gauntlet pointed at Marcy and one at Sprig, Robbie huffed. "Okay, let's play this cool. No one needs to get hurt unless you push me,"

Sprig raised his hands and hopped backward.

Robbie blinked, surprised that it worked.

Marcy looked on, awed and surprised. "Did that little frog understand what you said?"

"Yeah, I'm surprised by that one too."

"Wait, we're you running from a frog?!"

"It's that freak Spider-frogs pet frog."

"Partner," Sprig corrected, though no one around could hear him.

"It's like super strong or something."

Marcy wanted to grab her journal so hard but couldn't in the position. On the other hand, Robbie was desperately trying to devise an exit strategy. The little Frog was a huge hassle, Spider-Frog was down, but the Police would show up sooner or later, and all the kids around him were wild cards.

Sprig looked around, confused; Robbie noted it but didn't care much.

"So, what's the plan?"

"Shut up!" Robbie yelled.

"I mean, you got to have some sort of plan. No villain worth his salt would barge into a school without a plan." With her free hand motion to one of the teachers, Marcy signaled them to get the kids to the floor. They listened and silently started to instruct the students to the floor.

Marcy could feel the heart in her chest beating like crazy, but she was trying to figure out the best escape plan for everyone. This guy was nervous and had no plan; if one of those gauntlets went off, she didn't want someone to get hit by a blast; if they were lying on the floor less chance of that. It didn't help her much at the moment. She was hoping to talk to him; if you talk to someone and make them see you as a person, it makes it harder for them to hurt you. Though it was more likely, he was going through some sort of breakdown and would accidentally hurt her. So she had to try to keep him calm.

"I mean, this place is like a fortress; I'mI guess you want to use this to hold off the cops, am I right?"

"Uh, yeah, duh, obviously."

"I'm guessing you want to use the emergency maintenance ways to get out of the school; the cops will surround it but won't guard that, so by the time they get into the school, you've already passed their barricade."

"Yeah! Exactly."

That was a lie, sure a school as big as this had maintenance ways to get into different places, but none led to

anywhere but right outside the school. Marcy was guessing that if she could get Robbie into one of the maintenance areas, she could at least get him away from everyone else.

"Yeah, so, you just lead me to one. Don't try anything smart; I know where they are, so don't try to trick me."

That was a lie, not even a good one.

Marcy took a deep breath; she knew the custodian used to get to the boiler room would eventually lead to a dead end, but she could keep everyone else safe. She tried to be brave.

The frog seemed to nod at Marcy as if trying to tell her something.

When the lights went off, and the gym went black, there were a lot of random noises and sounds of people's panic.

Marcy felt something stick onto her and pulled her away from her captor.

She hit the ground, and as her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she saw the little frog's crazy long tongue had pulled her down.

As Sprig slurped his tongue, Marcy only said, "I need my journal."

Sprig moved and quickly picked up Marcy.

"So this is happening."

Marcy was shocked at how strong this frog was, and she started to see why he might be a threat to this bad guy.

It didn't take too long for Robbie to notice that Marcy was pulled away but didn't have time to react as something grabbed him. As he was pulled towards the ceiling, he fired wildly upwards.

Part of the roof shattered, and light rushed in, and he saw Spider-Frog cling to the ceiling webbing up upwards.

0000

Spider-Frog forced herself up.

"They're in the gym."

"What?" Black Cat asked.

Spider-Frog's head hurt, but she could hear Sprig's thoughts; if she let her mind be unforced, she could see through his eyes. Robbie had Marcy, and she needed to act quickly.

"He's got a hostage."

"What?" How-"

"There is a power box on the outside of the gym. Can you cut it? Make everything dark?"

"I guess,"

"Do it in two minutes."

Black Cat watched as the hero ran off, "She's crazy. Good thing she's hot."

0000

As soon as the light went out, Spider-Frog entered the gym and jumped on the ceiling to get the drop of her foe. Meanwhile, she'd started communicating with Sprig, getting a lay of the land and telling him her plan. Sprig was confused but went with it. Sure, he could understand it, and she could hear his thought, but it was always when they were near each other, and now she was projecting a whole conversation. Maybe this was a growth of their friendship, or their powers and connection were growing. Still, he did as they told, and when things went black, he pulled Marcy away.

0000

The people in the gym started to flee as they saw the two superhumans began to brawl. Robbie blasted the webs and dropped, he hit the ground, but he wasn't up high enough to kill him, and the suit cushioned the fall.

"Ow!"

"What did you think would happen to drop like that?"

He groaned, getting up. "Shut-! "

Robbie found a web hit his face; he relievedly pulled off his mask to get the web off his face just in time to see Spider-Frog swinging a kick to his face.

Robbie was hurled back and to the ground. Robbie jolted up and aimed a shaking arm, but his arm was web to his chest. He considered firing to destroy the webs, but he'd probably die at this range without the mask. With his free hand, he fired at Spider-Frog, and she jumped around, avoiding the blasts.

"Stand still, you insect!"

"Arachnid!"

"And maybe amphibian."

"What?" Robbie didn't recognize the new voice. He turned to see a blond girl in black behind him.

He quickly went to fire off his gauntlet.

His gauntlet buzzed as it went off, and she grabbed the gauntlet.

There was a flash of light filled the air.

"What?" Robbie blinked as nothing seemed to happen.

Black Cat gave him a grin, "Vibranium claws,"

The claws began to glow pink as they channeled all the energy from the attack; she smirked as all the power was redirected back onto Robbie; Robbie hurled back, and cracks formed on the gauntlet; in mid-air, the web line grabbed him. He felt weightless for a moment before his body shifted and whipped to the floor. As he struggled to stay conscious, he was webbed to the floor.

Spider-Frog sighed in relief that this was over.

Then they heard police sirens.

"Cops! Cheese it!" Black Cat yelled as she and Spider-Frog panicked.

They fled in opposite directions; both were vigilantes at best. One was a thief, and the other was still at odds with the cops for destroying their cars.

0000

The principal was talking to the reporters, and the other teacher and staff were checking up on the kids, ensuring they were okay and their parents picked them up.

"Are the rumors true? That Spider-Frog was helping this bank robber?"

Principal Murphy argued, "No, Spider-Frog took multiple attacks to protect a student and me. I can say that if she hadn't protected us, we'd be dead. Where ever she is, Thank you Spider-Frog."

"Do you have anything to say to the assailant you've identified as Robbie Valentino?"

"Hm, I think he called himself Shocker."

Near, the Police were dragging Robbie away; it took them a while to get him out of the webs.

Reporters rushed to his side, "Shocker? Shocker? Do you have a statement?"

"Shocker?" Robbie blinked, "Shocker? I'm Shocker?"

Robbie smiled to himself; he thought the name the press had given him was a pretty rocking name. It might have been the concussion, but he was happy with how this turned out.

Marcy was sitting on the stairs drawing in her journal and noting what she had seen.

Sasha comes running towards her, "Marcy! Are you okay? I heard that ass hat grabbed."

Marcy smiled reassuringly, "I'm okay, I promise."

"Okay, have you seen Anne?"

"I'm coming." Anne was a short distance away, limping with her backpack slung over her shoulder.

"What the hell happened to you?!" Sasha yelled out.

"I had to stop at the nurse's office," Anne told them; I got trampled when everyone was running around.

"Trampled?!" Marcy yelled.

"I'm fine, I'm fine." Anne tried to hide the pain, she was badly bruised, and she was sure some of her bones had fractured. She did stop at the nurse's office, but no one was there, and she used the chance to bandage herself. She managed to get Sprig to find her and bring her bag; he was currently hiding in her bag.

"Sit down!" Sasha forced her to sit down.

"Yeah, you look worse than me!" Marcy panicked.

"I'm tired."

"That could be a concussion!"

Anne smiled; her friends were safe, the school was safe, and the bad guy was dealt with.

0000

The Prowler sighed; he was invisible and looking at what had happened. He despised that Robbie had run into a school with children to hide. Grimes had no delusions that he wasn't a bad man, but he had a bit of standard and wouldn't drag children needlessly into a fight. Still, Robbie had managed to hurt Andrias a little; those banks he robbed today were the ones that Andrias owned. Sure, they were insured, and some of the money could be recovered, but the trust would wane in the banks. Still, he had to move on.

0000

The Triplets watched the news at night; it wasn't good that the Shocker had gotten caught; they worried he'd talk. They had warned him not to say anything because while they wouldn't get their hands dirty, their clients would. It was a rule that if anyone talked about them, their other clients would have to deal with them. After all, where else would they get their tech?

"Strange business."

The brother turned back to find Andrias King standing behind them.

Bradley shouted, "Sir! We didn't hear you-"

"Come in? No, I did that on purpose."

Blair panicked, "Sir, I would like water. Oh, your payment let me-"

"We need to talk," He motioned to the TV, "You're tech, I take it."

The three turned paled.

Branson spoke, "Uh, of course not. We know you limit what we sell, nothing that would-"

Andrias held a hand, quieting him, "Don't lie to me. I know it's your technology. Well, at least something you modified. The boy talks like a canary; my people in the Police are covering that part up and have warned him not to talk about it."

The three feared the worst, but the man didn't crush them.

"The world is changing, so we must change with them. I'm lifting the restrictions; use your common sense; otherwise, you can make whatever you want." A smile spread across his face, "Though I do expect my share, one that just increased in percentage."

The brothers feared how much they'd end up having to pay up, but the chance to let loose with technology made them feel better. It was time for them to tinker.

0000

"Valentino is known as the Shocker, was arrested at Saint James-"

"Bah, what a name! Those vibro gauntlets clearly work via sonic waves, not lightning. Those don't even involve electricity."

Lilith opened her eyes, "Sir?"

They were in a hospital, and next to him was Ford.

He smiled at her, "Good to see you up."

Lilith was groggy, "What-?"

They were both in hospital gowns; Ford explained, "A wall fell on us. I could have been worse; You'll need to stay in the hospital for the next few days. Don't worry; the company will pay for everything. Rest now; I can't afford to lose my star reporter for too long."

Lilith sighed, "Okay,"

0000

The Wrecking Crew shattered another wall to the safe of a bank. As the alarms blared, they quickly dragged money bags to their waiting van.

Bulldozer tossed a bag into the bag. When something landed on his helmet, he noticed a small pink frog. Next, the frog moved under his helmet, confused. He didn't know what to do. With one quick move, the helmet was off his head by the frog that leaped into the air. Bulldozer looked on, confused, as the frog slammed down on his head.

"What?!" Thunderball yelled. She readied her weapon only to find webs pulled away. She saw the webs stick her weapon to a wall.

Spider-Frog waved at her distracting her as Sprig jumped at her face with a punch.

Wrecker came out confused to see her crew on the ground.

"Time for Round Two. Now it's your turn to be outnumbered." Spider-Frog cracked her knuckles as Sprig landed on her shoulder.

Using their newfound telepathy, the pair now watched each other's backs better thane ever, coming up with plans quickly. They worked in tandem, helped cover their weaknesses, and helped boost each other's strengths.

Wrecker swung his crowbar, but Sprig used his tongue to pull it away while Spider-Frog went to take the opening to punch him.

The pair knew these guys were just thugs; nowhere were they dangerous as someone like the Heron, but they felt more confident in fighting baddies. As long as they were together, they knew they could do it. It was Sprig and Anne against the world, and they would win.

The Police would soon find the crew knocked out and webbed to the walls. A small note is attached to them:

Courtesy of your Friendly neighborhood Spider-Frog and Sprig.

They even took the time to doddle a picture of a frog with goggles and Anne's mask.

0000

Marcy sat at the table as her dad walked over.

"Hey, Dad, going to work early?"

The man was fixing his tie and adjusting his glasses, "Yeah, last night Spider-Frog webbed up bank robbers we've been looking for."

Marcy's eyes sparkled, "Really?"

"Marcy, don't," He gently scolded his daughter, "At best, she's a vigilante; at worst, she's maimed a woman already beaten. They need to turn themselves and face the music."

"I know," Marcy relented.

He kissed his daughter on the head, and Captain Wu was off to work, where he'd have a lot of paperwork to get through.

Notes:

Author’s Notes: Okay so notes for today, yes some spider folk can speak to animals. Peni Parker can talk to Sp//dr the spider that bit her through telepathy and Web Slinger can communicate with his horse Widow who was also bitten by the same spider. So Anne suddenly having full telepathy with Sprig here isn’t out of the norm especially since the stones gave Sprig human level intelligence.

Anyway, another foe is taken down.

As for my own life sorry for late replies, I had to recently move and I just got back from my trip AX, I’m still unpacking so everything is hectic right now.  So leave a review telling me what you guys think.

Chapter 06: Cataclysmic Dynamo

Andrias looked at the reports from Olivia; she had reviewed what Frakes did for their new project and gave the go-ahead. Frakes experiments with the blue gem and some samples left over from the frog that ate the spider had yielded results. Frakes couldn't replicate the powers, but it gave her some insight into the methods in which it transferred traits.

Another project Frakes had almost done and finished thanks to this research, and it gave him some ideas for his future projects.

With Yunan by his side, he went to the stage, and Andrias put on that same practiced smile. The crowd and press erupted in applause for the Kingpin of the city. Why wouldn't they? He was like Santa Claus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Countless hospitals had wings named after him, research into cures and numerous diseases was funded by him or his company, homeless shelters, food banks, educational programs, and more were only around because he flipped the bill. About 30% of the business in the city depended on a deal with his companies, and another 20% were the shell companies he ran secretly.

Of course, they didn't know he also ran the crime in the city as the Kingpin. His organization owned the docks and was helping transport illegal goods; many groups paid him to get their things without trouble. He had paid off leaders in every police station, along with the cops in charge of investigating crimes relating to him. Since he had this position, he took a take from all significant crimes, including gangs and mobs, since he helped facilitate and cover their crimes. There was a rule about the criminal organization: they were never to say his name; that's where the title Kingpin came from; they needed a way to identify him. Anyone stupid enough to say his name they only made that mistake once.

And with all the tech they managed to steal from Toomes, they sold it to street criminals for untraceable money; all those weapons would get blamed on Toomes. If people thought he sold it or it got stolen when he got arrested, it didn't matter; his name would get dragged through the mud.

Even in front of all the reporters in the city, Andrias was confident that no one had a clue.

"It's good to see you all this fine morning. I know it's early, and I'm sure you'd all rather have a nice cup of coffee so I won't take long." There was some polite laughter. "Today, King Energy is happy to show you what might be the first step in developing clean energy. It is all-natural, to boot. Yunan, do the thing!"

Yunan moved to the side and yanked away a curtain that covered a large tank.

The pressed moved to take a look at these yellow caterpillar creatures, and every once in a while, sparks shot between their horn. They crawled around eating leaves with their mandibles.

"My scientists have dubbed these cute little guys, Zapapedes. I'll leave you to read the scientific papers on all the details, and my scientist will be up later to explain it all. To summarize, my scientists have genetically engineered these creatures, several insects, and creatures like the humble electric eel. Long and short, these fellows produce roughly one industrial worth of energy, well, each one. We plan to develop whole farms and use them to power everything. And that's not all these fellow produce metallic wire-like worms produce silk. Their waste is even being harvested to use to make cleaning products. Plus, since they eat leaves it just giving us excuses to plant more trees."

Andrias pointed to a screen that showed an artist's depiction of a building with trees growing in the middle and an electrical creature running around.

"It's a nifty system that every time the little buggers spark off, the energy is drawn to the ground into conductors. The numbers will be in the papers now, but I have something else in mind. We brought you here for a proof of concept."

The nearby screen flashed up images of various people.

"We've invited all these influences for our little endeavor. For the next week, these influencers will livestream, make videos, and play games. We are providing the power and facilities for them to use. All this an effort to be a new power source is a viable source."

The cameras flashed.

Mentally, Andrias sighed; on the surface, this seemed like a blatant publicity scheme. Get a bunch of influencers to use their facilities, say that it works, and get a lot of publicity. People would constantly document the project; countless people would note if it failed for a second. If no power interruptions happened, well, then it would seem viable.

But like most of his endeavors, he had many levels planned.

0000

Ford was a bit upset when he found out about the event that Andrias held. Not that the reporter did an awful job, but more that he didn't ask enough questions. This level of genetic manipulation was leaps and bounds beyond anything anyone had come close to. Ford worried someone would try to apply such methods to weapon applications.

Sitting in his hospital bed, he looked over everything his office sent. The doctors wanted to keep an eye on him for a bit longer, and he was still doing therapy sessions; his back was hurt during the collapse, along with some damage to his arm and shoulder. Lilith didn't feel better; she had a minor concussion, her left arm was broken, her legs had taken severe damage, and she had minor organ damage. The doctors said they were close to rupturing organs, and she had minor internal bleeding. Worse, there were signs of hypertension, fatigue, and vitamin deficiency, which didn't help her heal.

Ford blames himself; he knows Lilith is working hard and staying late, but he doesn't imagine she has worked almost without sleep since she started working. He would talk to her when things were better.

While he could admit he often worked his employees hard to get results and stories, He didn't want them working selves to death.

Right now, they just had to take care of her health; they might need minor surgery.

Still, something was wrong with Lilith's situation, and he didn't know how to broach it.

0000

The girls sat around the lunchroom table during lunch. They had most of the table to themselves; after all, people gave the injured Marcy some space, plus they were afraid she'd charge them into a disaster, and Anne's peculiar changes had pushed some people aside. Anne wasn't showing up to tennis practice because she kept ruining the equipment, plus that little outburst against Maggie had scared people away. Sasha was the only one with good social standing, though her company didn't help.

Marcy was going on about the news stories about Spider-Frog. After the fight against Shocker, then taking out the Wrecking Crew, Spider-frog had been seen taking down robbers and purse-snatchers alike.

"It's just so amazing that we have our own superhero!" Marcy proclaimed. "I can't believe you guys missed it. The lights go off, and Shocker gets yanked up."

Sasha huffed, "Can't believe that name stuck; his power was that crazy sound attack, not electricity."

"Yeah, that's weird. I don't remember him saying it's his name."

"Me neither," Anne added, "Not that I was around him at any time." Anne quickly added.

"I wonder who they are?" Marcy looked at a picture from a newspaper of a spider frog.

"I'm sure we will never know," Anne said confidently.

"I'm not so sure," Marcy noted, "Let's see, they seem about our age. Maybe they go to our school. Maybe they followed the Shocker to the school, but it seems more likely they were already here."

Anne choked on her drink. "W-what? Why?"

"They showed up just after he showed up. Considering the time of day and their age, they would likely have to be in school at the time."

"Uh," Anne tried to think of something, "I mean, there are other schools."

"Considering the time between the Shocker and Spider-Frog showed up, the only other school that anyone could make reasonable time for would be the high school."

"Yeah! Maybe it’s the high school!"

"Doubtful; if they were high school students, they would still need to sneak past the police into our school. Plus, it's only a guess they could be older. Their build might lean towards someone a bit older, but hey, look at you, Anne." Marcy grabbed Anne's arm and rolled up a sleeve. "You've put on some muscle lately. Makes you look a bit older."

Anne blushed wildly; she had to get them off her trail.

"She does also have some sort of family support," Marcy added as she held up a photo showing some of Spider-Frog's ripped suit that revealed some abs she'd gotten. "Muscles require a healthy dose of protein, and she must be regularly eating. I imagine Superpowers still needs food and regular exercise to maintain her physique. If they didn't have family support, they wouldn't be able to get the food or have time to still go to school. They would need a job, and I doubt they could manage school, a job, and crime fighting."

While they looked at the picture, Anne pushed her food tray away. Marcy was right; she was working out because she always tried to stay healthy but felt she needed to do more. Marcy even got the food; she'd been craving protein more and starchy foods. She thought the starch helped with the webs; if she ate less, it made it harder for her to make them. Luckily, her parents just thought it was because of a growth spurt.

"Nah," Sasha waved off Marcy. "Come one, Mar. She's probably some sort of rich, trust fund kid. Probably how she got some weird tech to make those webs."

"Yup! 100%!” Anne agreed.

"Hm, maybe. I was toying with a chemical compound and device to try to mimic that, so it's theoretically possible."

"Plus," Sasha smiled, "I think we'd know if Spider- Spider-Frog was at the school."

"Yeah." Anne agreed.

"How many girls have that kinda of body?"

"Wait, what?"

"Oh, come on, I'm not the only one who noticed. She's got a good figure on her," Sasha pointed at some of the pictures on the table, "That suit doesn't do too much to hide those nice curves, well-toned muscles, and a nice pair of-"

"I- Ah!" Anne tried to object, unsure what to say, as her face turned bright red.

"And a nice butt." Marcy smiled as she pointed to a picture of Spider-Frog swinging away.

"Oooh, ~ nice catch, Marcy. Seeing her leave is, "I hate to see you leave but love to watch you go”.”

The girls giggled to themselves as Anne tried to shrink in her chair.

"Speaking of super bods, what do you think of the Black Cat?"

Marcy shrugged, "I don't get an opinion."

"What?! You got all these theories about Spider, and not even you think of the cat as cute?"

"Well, I don't have much to work with. There aren't any pictures of her; the ones we have of her are in the shadows or blurry. I mean, I guess that's the idea. She gives up that dark, mysterious femme fatale vibe."

"Come on, Anne, you think Black Cat has it going on."

Anne lost herself in her memories as she pictured the cute blonde in the black catsuit giving her the playful devilish smile. Black cat moving so close to her that she could smell her, see her bright blue eyes, her soft-looking lips curl up and so close that they could ki-

"Anne?"

"Yes!" Anne tried to recover as she looked at her friends, "Uh, I mean, I guess I could see it. Black Cat is probably very pretty."

Sasha held her head and smiled, "I like her style. She seems to have this neat chocker. Do you guys think I could pull that look off?"

"Hm, a bit retro but with the right accessory, yeah." Marcy shared the idea.

Anne just tried to forget what her friend had been saying, or Black Cat smiled when she leaned in.

0000

Tiffany pulled up her hood; not many people paid all that much attention to her. They paid attention to Giffany, not her.

At first glance, she looked like a twenty-something girl with messy clothes and messy brown hair, and maybe in the end, that was all she was. When she was in college, she fell in love seven times; it was the same story each time. She fell in love, head over heels love, and they would break up with her and toss her aside. After seven, she felt broken; she stayed in her apartment, and her parents tried to get her out, but in the end, even they tossed her aside. Bored out of her mind, she started to play games and stream. Then she made a character a popular girl who everyone adored, and thus the Vtuber Giffany was born. It made her money.

Tiff was hesitant to show up with all the other influencers. Andrias gave everyone a healthy portion of the money to show up, all the equipment upgrades they got were nice, and he didn't even ask people to praise his weird power source. Just use it and show it was stable.

People were running with it; some were using the free trip to LA to travel blog. Some science guys were getting tours of the facilities. One would be a journalist who was having an interview with the big guy himself. Some guys were working together, making videos. Some Screwball was climbing outside the building; Tiff almost wanted them to fall. She was so annoying.

Some other Vtubers were doing collaborations and stuff. Tiffany was mostly alone; she was only out of the room they gave her because the cafeteria was pretty good, and they didn't charge them.

Tiff sighed, watching all the other people busy working; she went to get pizza and hoped they had mochi ice cream.

0000

Captain Wu was tired; in the last few weeks, they had a bank robber with exploding hands, a guy in a bird suit, a master of disguise, a construction crew with suped-up tools, and the list was growing. Since Spider-Frog showed up, these weirdos were coming out, and there were rumors of weird tech being used by people with powers roaming the streets.

The captain looked at the picture on the wall. He thought Spider-Frog was trying to do good, but he couldn't let her run around calling out these crazies.

He looked at the picture of Marcy on his desk; he would love this, something out of her comic books.

0000

Marcy worked in the science lab with the IT Girls nearby, bringing her stuff. She had chemicals building nearby as she worked on soldering pieces into a glove. She didn't have any incredible superpowers, but she had a big brain and a lot of imagination.

Around the table, there were dozens of papers with sketches and scientific plans. Marcy opened her phone to the happenings with the Andrias event, both on the influencers and the research about the new little bugs.

0000

Anne found herself sitting on the roof of the buildings downtown. She pulled out what she got from the restaurant and some meal worms she packed for Spring. After her parents went to bed, she'd sneak out to do a bit of patrol. Anne knew many weird crimes were starting to happen in the city, many creepy guys with strange costumes, gimmicks, and weird tech. The news said that after the Heron was beaten, some of his techs from his company were stolen or sold off before they could be confiscated and were now circulating on the streets. There were some rumors some people had been inspired by the Heron and were making their tech for sale. Anne wondered if what she was doing was causing it.

"Anne, don't worry." Sprig thought to her, "It's not your fault. The bird guys came first. If anything, it was his fault."

"I guess you're right,

"Uh, you talking to your frog?" A voice spoke from behind her.

Anne blinked to see the Black Cat standing behind her.

"How does she keep sneaking up on us!?"

"Yeah," Anne explained, "It's kinda a thing we can do; we can just communicate. It's like a power thing."

Black Cat sat beside her, "Okay, yeah, I've been meaning to ask. How can you do what you do? What are you, a witch, kid? Witch Children? Witch Breed?

"I don't think those are real?" Anne told her, "Stuff happened; a spider was zapped by a weird laser, right?"

"Yup." Sprig told her as he ate a worm.

"Sprig here ate it, and some stuff happened, and he kinda bit me."

"It was an accident; you just kinda grabbed me."

"I said I was sorry about that, and I guess he still had some weird science radiation on him. I think that passed."

"Probably, I don't feel tingly like I did."

"Yeah,"

Cat wasn't sure what was happening; she only heard half the conversation. She stared at her blankly, "Okay, sure, don't tell me how you got your powers." Then she noticed the food bag, "Is that Thai food?"

"Yeah," Anne held it up, showing the familiar Thai Go logo on its side. "Want some?"

"Uh, sure, you got the pat thai?"

Sasha wasn't sure exactly what to do with the costume; part of her wanted to give this up and try to live an everyday life. She had only wanted to get into this to care for something; then, she got in the suit again to help save her school. Was that even true? She had the suit already hidden in her backpack? Was she looking for an excuse?

Sasha would love to discuss this with her friends, but she knew they'd never understand. She hoped that Spider-Frog could give her some insight.

0000

Tiffany sighed. The week was almost over; the contract would be made, and she could return home. Sure, they gave them a nice room, a good working space, and free food, but she didn't want to be there. She didn't want to be around people; she learned long ago that people couldn't be trusted. She was better off without them.

At least she had her fans; they adored her, at least Giffany; she didn't think they'd feel the same about Tiffany. And after the rejections of her love, her family, well, she didn't want to know if they'd reject her. Tiffany made sure no one found her authentic self; it wouldn't be a lie to say that she didn't do anything with the other influencers because she didn't trust anyone to spill the beans. So far, if anyone asked, she lied and told them she was an editor for a creator she made up, and no one asked anything else.

Well, it just proves to her how shallow everyone could be.

Things were better when she only trusted herself. She walked back into the soundproof workspace and started her stream.

Minutes later, the doors exploded.

Two men in whole-body suits walked in.

The crowd murmured; the idea they talked about was that this was some video people were filming. Several people took out their phones to film this.

One man wore a blue and white suit covered with boomerangs. The other man wore a black and purple suit.

The purple man yelled, "Okay, everyone, just stay calm and don't do anything stupid. We are here for one thing and one thing!" He motioned to the massive tank in the center that held the bugs. The purple man bounced off the floor, tossing people about.

"No one needs to get hurt."

The other man threw around boomerangs, forcing people back.

"Okay, I should have let you go first. That’s not as intimidating."

"Oh, and the name Ricochet is?"

"At least I didn't go with the name Boomerang."

"Just shut up! Get the internet nerds in one spot; Overdrive will be here any minute. Let's get the tank ready to move."

"Fine." Boomerang started to round up everyone in a corner, throwing a few of his names sake to make sure they went where they were supposed to.

0000

Screens worldwide flashed the image of a young girl in a white and blue school uniform with pink hair and a computer cable as a hair bow.

"Thanks for the gifted subs, Richard KO!" Giffany spoke with a sweet voice.

The chat suddenly went wild.

"Huh, what's the matter, chat? Other streamers? Oh, are you watching other streams when you should give me your undivided attention? Uh?" Tiffany was confused; the chat was speeding too fast for her to read.

"You need to get out of there!"

"Run!"

"Lock the door!"

Giffany started getting scared, "Okay, this is getting a little creepy, guys."

"Look at the other stream!"

0000

Ricochet typed something into his phone after putting some cables onto the tank. He watched as a blue liquid at the edge of the tank swished; the reports said it was a chemical drink that kept the bugs healthy.

Boomerang held his namesake aloft, pushing all the influencers back into the corner.

"Don't do anything stupid, and everyone goes home."

"Then I guess you're exempt from this rule, Captain Dunce Cap!"

Boomerang looked up to see the familiar figure of Spider-Frog crawling on the ceiling.

"Spider-Frog! How did you get here so fast? Overdrive would have shut off the alarms!"

Spider-Frog pulled out her phone, "Dude, half the people here were already live streaming when you broke in here. The other half started when you did!"

Boomerang looked around at many influencers who had half-hidden cell phones and noticed all the active cameras and computers left around the room.

"On the bright side, you are trending."

"What hashtag?"

"#CostumedIdiots."

"My costume is awesome!"

"I think you missed the big issue."

"I don't miss."

Boomerang threw his namesake at Spider-Frog; she leaped off the ceiling as the razor-sharp weapons flew at her. Anne had been trying to meditate; it wasn't her thing, but it was helping her focus her tingle. It was almost like the world went slower. She could feel where the boomerangs were going, and with a deep breath, she spun in the air, dodging them; as she moved through them, she raised a fist. Boomerang found a fist collide with his face, launching him back.

The helmet took the brunt of the attack, but already he could do some damage.

"Ooh, do you have powers?" Spider-Frog asked, "Be honest, I got to know how much I should hold back." She cracked her knuckles for effect. "Like, how much can you lift? I've lifted a car."

Boomerang had felt bad about fighting a teenage girl, then remembered this girl could easily tear off both his arms.

Boomerang hurled three boomerangs in quick succession. Spider-Frog quickly shot her webs at two, knocking them out of the air. That was what the villain was planning for; he expected the last one to land and hit her.

At that moment, a tiny frog jumped out of her hood and rushed towards the boomerang. Sprig shot out his tongue mid-air, grabbing it and hurling it back at Boomerang.

"Ow!" Boomerang hissed, his suit was padded, but it still hurt. "Wait, did you sick your pet sidekick at me?"

"Partner!" Sprig insisted, wagging his finger at the bad guy.

"Is it pointing at me?"

"You do have some sidekick feel," Spider-Frog suggested.

"And now you're ignoring me to talk to your frog."

"Hey!"

"I'm joking. I'll make it up." She cleared her voice, "Watch for the Spectacular Sprig."

"Better." Sprig held up his head.

Boomerang just pulled out the boomerang. "Uh, what are we doing here?"

"We were in the middle of taking you down."

"Right, we were."

Tingle.

"What?"

Spider-Frog was launched into the wall by Ricochet. Spider Frog realizes there are two villains, and then her phone buzzes, showing her a new trending item.

"#Spider-Fail! How is this already trending?" She looked to the side where the influencers were busy alerting their followers about the fight.

Spider-Frog had to dodge as Ricochet tried to cannonball himself.

"Come on! I'm doing pretty good. This is all self-taught." Spider-Frog kept jumping around, dodging the villain. She shot a web at the wall, quickly yanking her away with a quick turn.

"Stop moving!" Ricochet yelled.

"Yeah, not going to do that."

Spider-Frog has a distinct advantage against this baddie; Anne had the proportional jumping ability of a spider and a frog, which was stacked. Ricochet's suit allowed him to bounce around, and Anne's powers let her get out of reach.

Boomerang kept throwing the weapons at the frog and found it hard to hit such a small, fast-moving target.

Boomerang tossed another boomerang to have Sprig jump off it. Sprig stuck to a wall, looking menacing at the villain.

Boomerang reached for another weapon when he realized he was out of the boomerangs.

"You didn't keep track, did ya?"

Sprig shot off the wall and punched Boomerang to crack his helmet and drop him.

"Quit jumping around!" Ricochet yelled, getting frustrated.

"Yeah, Okay,"

"Wha-" Ricochet stopped. "What?"

"Web." Spider-Frog pointed to a massive web strung around the wall.

During their chase across the walls, Spider-Frog started to shoot out her web, the string she shot out slowly forming into a massive web that Ricochet, like a fly, got stuck in mid-bounce.

Spider-Frog walked upside down on the web towards him. "Yeah, I jump like a frog but can make webs like a spider. I wanted to be a bit more impressive between you and me." She motioned to the influencers. "Could use some good word of mouth."

Spider-Frog then realized, "Hey, since you are just going to be hanging out, how did you guys plan on getting that tank out?"

As if to answer, a wall exploded as a weird forklift ripped through it.

A man in a black suit with a matching helmet with a blue visor rode it; the vehicle had strange blue patterns going over it. Spider-Frog noticed the suit had a similar glowing pattern, almost like it was spreading from the suit.

"I don't think that guy is forklift certified."

Spider-Frog was far from an expert on forklifts; she had seen some of them at a nearby construction site, and they didn't look like they went this fast. Before she could even react, the forklift rushed to the tank and began to lift.

"Is he trying to steal the tank with a forklift?"

Richocet stuck in the web, "Yeah, that's news to me. We stole an SUV for the job; must have found out we were in a fight and panicked."

"He just stole a forklift from around the corner!"

"Yup!"

"When I became a superhero, I thought I'd be fighting people a little more impressive."

"We're plenty impressive."

"Your power is bouncing, and your partner just throws boomerangs!"

"It's the suit! I don't have any powers."

"Not helping!" Spider-Frog leaped away to try and stop the theft.

Overdrive was supposed to be the getaway driver; he'd burst in when the tank was ready, and they'd strap it on. Overdrive would drive away before the police could get a beat on them. While he waited for their message, he noticed the trending news about the fight. So, he panicked and went to steal the forklift; after all, this was a huge pay, and the man who hired them would not be happy if they failed.

Their boss even hooked them up with their suits; his suit used nano threads to connect to vehicles to upgrade them and give him control. Already, he was lifting the large tank.

The forklift bounced as Spider-Frog landed on the back end.

"Can I see your license?"

Overdrive packed, and he pulled out a laser pistol and fired. Spider-Frog quickly jumped off, avoiding the attacks. Overdrive started to spin the forklift to try and get a better aim.

"Dude, don't!"

There is a reason why one needs a special license to drive a forklift. It's not built like a regular vehicle; the weight is different, and you can't make sudden turns, especially while carrying a load. Just because Overdrive could upgrade it and control it didn't mean he could do anything about the weight. As the forklift spun, the weight shifted and tilted over. The tank rocked and crashed to the ground, cracking; spider web-like cracks quickly wrapped around the tank.

"What the hell was that?" Tiffany stuck her head out of her work cubicle; she was trying to understand her chat, and the loud noise wasn't helping.

Tiffany looked to find a large tank just in front of her door; she thought it was some joke until the crack finally broke, and a flood of blue liquid slammed her into her room and her equipment.

Tiffany felt her head, "What?" She blinked, looking at her avatar glitching out and mimicking her expression. "Ew! What is this?" She was soaked with this weird liquid. She almost didn't feel something strange on her skin; as her eyes widened, she found countless centipede-like bugs crawling over her body.

She tried to swat them off, "Get them off me!"

This was the wrong thing to do, as her attempt scared the bugs, and they tried to defend themselves the only way they could; they sent out electricity and bit, and when they did it, they all started to. All the bigs sent out sparks, feeding into each other and having the girl in the middle of the giant organic circuit.

Tiffany screamed as she was engulfed in a blinding white light. To say that was the worst pain in her life would be putting it mildly; it felt like every nerve in her body was burning.

Spider-Frog raced to try and help her, but her tingle screamed at her to stop; she couldn't help it as her body stopped on its own.

As the light faded, images of a screaming Tiffany were seen on the screen before it went black. Tiffany sat up before collapsing to the ground, burns over her body. The liquid seemed to have evaporated or dried into now gray dust; the bugs all seemed dead and burned to a crisp.

"No!" Spider-Frog ran to the girl; her tingle didn't go off, and she had to assume she was alive.

"Come on, be okay."

Overdrive, seeing what happened, tried to run; Sprig leaped onto him and hit him quickly and often. Spring quickly yanked the fork from the lift and bent it around the man. It was difficult for him but not impossible, and seeing what the man had done, he was motivated; he wasn't going to let him just run. After that he ran towards Anne, he didn't know what he could do but if he could.

"No, no, no," Anne was in a mild panic. "She's not breathing; someone call an ambulance!" Anne had some basic first aid training; he parents thought they should all have some working in the restaurant. Anne looked for a pulse not finding, "Okay, CPR, staying alive, staying alive."

Anne sang to herself, and she started chest compressions, "Come on, come on, come on," Anne continued to sing to herself; they told her to stay in rhythm.

Tiffany's body twitched, and a gasp escaped her lips; she still didn't open her eyes.

Anne's mind was screaming at her; she couldn't let this girl die.

"Okay, the construction is going to slow things down. Police are coming! Ambulance! They won't make it in time!" She took out her phone and tossed it at Sprig, "Find the nearest hospital! Emergency room!"

"Got it!"

Spring had gotten used to using the phone; he liked watching TV shows while Anne was at school. He would also use it to direct Anne while swinging toward crimes.

Anne carefully placed the girl on her back. She could make her whole body stick to anything, so it wasn't hard, but she still wrapped her arms around her. Sprig jumped onto her head.

"Got it!"

"Lead the way!"

Spider-Frog was already running out of the building and shooting webs into buildings.

Several influencers were already uploading the footage. On the crashed stream, Giffany's chat was in an uproar, having heard her scream; every once in a while, a distorted screaming image of the vtuber would flash on their stream.

In the distance, they could hear sirens.

0000

Ford was looking through files when she saw Spider-Frog swinging by. He wasn't in the best shape but quickly made his way downstairs. He had to try to get any answers if there was any chance.

He reached the bottom through the emergency entrance to hear the doors kicked open, "Help, please!"

A doctor and some nurses rushed to her side, bringing a gurney over to take the unconscious young woman from her.

"What happened?"

Her voice broke, "There- there- she was electrocuted. Her heart stopped. I- I- I got it going again, but she's hurt. Please help her!"

The doctor took her and gave an order to prep a room for her, "We will do everything we can."

Anne wanted to run after them as they rolled Tiffany away, the same images of a hurt Marcy flashing in her head. She wanted to follow, she wanted to help, she wanted to undo this whole thing, but she couldn't help. She turned away and ran out, shooting a web upwards.

Ford could have tried to stop her, but he found pause; her voice broke. Spider-Frog was just a girl, and she was crying; she was going through things that no child should go through.

Ford decided to get on the phone. Something just happened, and he needed to know more.

0000

Anne sat on the roof of a building watching the hospital; her body was curled up, her knees to her chest.

"Anne, we should go soon. Your parents will get worried."

"I know, just let's wait five more minutes." Anne had her phone beside her, hoping to hear any news about the girl's condition.

She kept flashing to find Marcy buried; the thought made her chest tight and hard to breathe.

0000

Ford thought he would need to work harder to find answers; he didn't expect one of the doctors to ask his thoughts on the test. Ford did tell them he wasn't a medical doctor; he had some familiarity with the human body and its working but not in practice.

"I don't know," Ford said, something he rarely said.

The tests they ran, the EKG, the MRI, and a dozen tests all seemed strange.

"Her brain is running too much electricity; she should be seizing; her heart should have gone into cardiac arrest."

"She should, she isn't, and her brain scans, no one in this hospital has seen anything like it. Do you have any idea?"

"The girl is in a coma; she shouldn't have this kind of activity, nothing close to this. I've seen scans of people struck by lightning, and it's nothing like this. It- it's like- something familiar." Ford sighed; there was something very familiar about how these scans came out. They almost looked like - no, that isn't possible. Except-

"Electro."

"What?"

"The project of a brilliant man named Professor Philo Zog. I need to get some files to compare."

0000

The prison transport bus moved along the desert, and there wasn't even a view as night clouded everything in black. The three would-be villains were sore and grumbling as they were handcuffed to their seats. Overdrive was the only one still in the suit; everyone else had it removed and only because they could take it off.

Their guard looked at the horizon when several lights flashed up.

"I think we got company; I'll call it in."

"Don't worry about it," The driver told him before he turned the wheel suddenly.

The vehicle swerved and fell to its side.

Several black cars stopped at the overturned vehicle; the guard climbed out and tried to have them down. A shot rang out in the dark, and the man fell. Behind him, holding a gun, was the driver.

A large man exited the front black car, "Good work, William.

"Thank you, sir."

Men walked out of the cars and began pulling the men out.

The driver pulled out a bag that held their suit and handed it to the men he quickly uncuffed.

The three men gulped as they stood before the Kingpin.

Andrias smiled at them, "Don't look so scared, boys; you have done well."

He motioned to Yunan, brought a large black bag filled with money, and tossed it to them.

"Now the official story will be because of that suit Overdrive- that's what you are going with, correct?"

"Yes, sir."

"You could manipulate the transport vehicle enough, causing it to turn over. In all the Chaos, you three escaped your confines and stole a gun, killing the poor guard. His family will receive full benefits, and he will get an award posthumously. Very sad." He didn't sound sad, "And you three beat poor William unconscious- which reminds me. William."

"I understand, sir,"

"Good man, I'll ensure your chief gives extra time off with pay."

William moved to the side where Andria's men began to beat him, all to make it look real.

The three men looked on in horror.

Andrias smiled, "Now, boys, take the car in the back. The paperwork is in the glove compartment, along with fake IDs for all of you. Now, I suggest you boys leave town and keep a low profile for a long time."

They said their thanks and quickly ran into the car.

They weren't master criminals; they were trying to get the gadgets and things from the Triplet Tinkers but didn't have the money. Andrias found out and made them an offer: he'd pay for their items and give them a payout.

Andrias returned to his car and looked at the news on his tablet. His stocks were diving; no one blamed him. Andrias had found a nice warm light for mankind to share, and what was he supposed to do about three crazed men trying to steal it? He wasn't upset; this would blow over in time, and he'd do an interview showing he was upset that all the work was gone. The truth was that the Zapapedes were a dead end; they were hard to produce and could only be made via the samples from the gem, which were limited. It was just not cost-effective or practical. That was one of the reasons he sabotaged it. The other was an experiment he was working on.

He called Olivia, "Oliva Stromm, please update me on the project."

Olivia's voice sounded tired, not that she didn't always sound tired, "Confusing, sir. We bought off the right people to the hospital, and the blood samples lined up with Frakes' predictions. Though the young woman is still in a coma."

"Well, I suppose it was to be expected, electrocuted and all."

"That's the thing, her brain waves are not of someone in a coma; they seem active and similar to the Overdrives suit control system."

"So you did look over the triplet's designs."

"Yes, they aren't without their talent. I need to do some more research before I finalize my findings."

"Sum up your theory."

"Her body is healing rapidly, and her mind is active. I just don't think it's where it should be."

0000

The streaming site was having a rough day; one of their biggest streamers was electrocuted on live stream, and since then, they have been having severe issues. People were already claiming that she had died and were haunting the site; she wasn't dead, as the news site reported.

One of the techs turned on a screen; one of the issues was that the streamer's channel was still active, and they couldn't shut it down. What was worse, people claimed her model would randomly start moving, and some swore it screamed.

They looked at the screen and saw the model staring at them, their mouth moving as if to scream, pounding against the screen.

A screech and distorted words came out, "Let me out!"

Chapter 07: Shocking Development

Anne watched a news report they were reporting on an internet personality who had been hospitalized. A lot of the reports put the blame on Spider-Frog; they did make the point that the criminals started everything. Something would have likely happened without her involvement, but she made that certainty. Suppose she had let the police do their work. In that case, they might have been able to resolve the situation without anyone being hurt.

Anne couldn't help but agree with them.

What was worse, another report showed that the bad guys had broken out from their transports, killing one officer.

Anne wanted to run out and do something about it.

"What's the point?"

Anne had no idea how to track them and couldn't help but feel she'd make things worse.

"Anne, dinner is ready!" Her mom called her over, and Anne simply turned the TV off and went to eat.

0000

Ford was busy working on things; he had to call several universities to get the correct papers. Most of the documents hadn't been digitized; someone finally found a copy of the papers he wanted, and then they had to fax them to him, which was another issue.

The first page was sealed with "Strategic Scientific Reserves" around a circular logo with an eagle with its wings spread out.

Ford knew a little of the organization, a group that had opposed certain drastic groups within Germany during War World Two. He remembered as a young boy, there were comics with wartime propaganda about superheroes who always fought off the bad guys and always did the right thing, and they were associated with this SSR. However, Ford knew they did real-life heroics. They aided with the Manhattan Project, retrieved treasures and artifacts stolen during the war, helped develop new technologies, and sabotaged enemy efforts.

The new technologies were what got Ford's attention. Professor Philo Zog - short for Zogolowski- was a genius and developed a new technology. As Ford flipped the pages, he found a picture of the Professor, an older man with thick glasses, balding gray hair, and standing before a tall robot that looked straight out of one of those old-time comics.

"Electro," Ford mumbled.

The Professor had tried to develop a robot soldier that would be controlled from a distance via electromagnetic signals transmitted from a person's mind with a remote. He imagined this machine would be a one-man army that would react in real-time with a person's mind so it would have all the skills of a soldier.

The comic writers had even heard of this idea and developed stories where the fantasy became a reality. They even used Zog as the man behind the machine, beating back enemy soldiers and saving people. Though the device never appeared, some prototypes were far too flawed. The technology just wasn't there to properly develop it. Though Ford wanted the documents to see if the theory was feasible.

He'd seen some theories years ago; it seemed possible but needed work. What he saw now in the girl's test results was that somehow her mind was being transmitted, like how Zog wanted to communicate things to the Electro robot.

0000

Olivia said as she entered the smelly server room with Yunan. She had some idea of what was going on, and lucky for them, Andrias owned a stake in the company that streamed the whole incident. Andrias used his pull to send a tech specialist to resolve the issue.

"Wait," Yunan said, "So, the girl in the coma is in the computer? The blue goo did this?"

Olivia said, "In a sense, the mind is electrical signals; it was proven in the research by one Philo Zogolowski, and those signals can be transmitted. I deduced that what happened with the tank had a strange effect on this girl." Olivia took out her bag and began to examine the servers, "The blue goo, as you call it, has mutagenic properties; they transplant traits. Frakes used it to give electric eel-like properties to insects, and the goo gave similar properties to the girl. Though humans are more complex beings, taking into account strange genetic mutation caused some unforeseen changes."

"Yeah, you guys were trying to do electric things."

"Yes, electric things, and that has happened, just not in the matter we expected. Maybe it has something to do with the equipment she was intertwined with, maybe the wi-fi signal; I don't have the foggiest."

"Really? Isn't science your whole thing?"

Olivia blinked, "Yes, it is my thing, but this is unexplored territory; I can take my best guess, but there will be things I can't predict."

Olivia turned on a screen that flashed a glitchy mess that vaguely seemed like a screaming girl.

"First, we must isolate the girl."

"And then what?"

"See if I can return the brain signals to her mind."

0000

Maybe it was a hundred years, maybe less, maybe more but Giffany- that was her name right? She saw words scroll past the endless white space. She saw images, backgrounds, assets, and rooms, and they vanished and reappeared randomly. People sent messages for a while, and sometimes something would slip by.

She thought she was dead; this had to be death, right? She didn't feel anything, well, pain; she felt like she was burning all the time. She screamed, was screaming now, oh she was.

Everything hurt.

Why couldn't she feel anything but pain?

She wanted out of here.

SHE HAD TO GET OUT!

WHO did this to her?!

Why?

Why?

WHO!?

0000

Olivia isolated the servers and pulled out a device that looked like a portable server. If she made it correctly, she could store the specific electric pattern to hold it until she could try to return it.

She plugged it in, and it lit up as soon as she did.

0000

Something happened, something changed, something opened.

She had to run.

0000

The device began to shake.

"Oh no."

Yunan jumped on Olivia and pushed her to the ground. Both women saw yellow electricity arch out.

They screamed before the lights blew out. A human-like form flickered in the middle of the room before it poured into a light socket.

In the dark, Olivia said, "Uh, you can get off me now."

0000

Andrias looked out the window at the city below as the lights below began to shut down.

He pulled out his phone, "Call Olivia."

Only for his phone to fail to connect, "The towers are down, uh, it's going to be one of those days."

0000

They had just finished eating and were ready to watch TV when the power went out. Anne's father quickly got some candles.

Anne's mom walked back in, "It looks like it's everyone on the block. The street lights are off, and it might be the city." She sighed, "Better stay inside; something like that brings out the worst. People will be heading downtown to rob things."

Anne winced; she remembered news about something like that happening years ago.

"You know what? I think I'm going to hit the hay. I'm pretty tired, and if nothing is working." Anne ran upstairs.

Her dad sighed, "I was going to watch my favorite movie on the phone."

Anne was rushing into the room and grabbed her stuff.

"Anne?" Sprig spoke up, only lit by the gems in the tank.

She wasn't sure what was going on if she should be Spider-Frog, but right now, trouble would start, and maybe they needed her.

0000

Some burglars smashed a jewelry store window and quickly began to help themselves to what they could. Once the city crooks realized the alarms weren't working, they went wild. Stores were being robbed by everyone who dared to take what they wanted; most ordinary people stole TVs and whatever they could, and the more experienced crooks went for the price items.

"Come on, don't you think this is too easy?"

They turned to see a blonde dressed in black.

"Like, at least put some effort. This is smash and grab, no style or nothing."

"Beat it, kid, go rob the candy store."

"Heh, do they even have those?"

A man pulled a knife.

Black Cat rushed in, quickly, disarmed, and hurled away; she promptly went to strike down the other two. She slammed one guy into a glass case, sending shards everywhere.

She sighed; she wanted a little thrill, but this wasn't it. Stealing would be too easy right now, and most of the crooks she'd seen tonight didn't stand a chance.

"Oh, this is pretty." She put on a tiara and tried to check herself out in a mirror, "I need better light here."

"STOP RIGHT THERE!" Spider-Frog jumped in,

"Hey, Spider." Black Cat picked up some earrings to see how they went with the tiara.

"I thought some thieves-" she saw the knocked-out crooks and sighed, "This is so nuts! The power goes out, and everyone goes crazy. I had to web up 20 people at the electronic store. People kept trying to steal TVs after that."

"Yeah, try getting away carrying a big screen. Total noob move." She tried on some rings.

"Please tell me you are helping. It looks like the cops are stretched to the limits."

"Uh- I mean- yeah, of course." She tucked the jewelry into a bag on the back of her belt. "Sounds like a fun date."

"You guys are dating?" A half-knocked-out guy raised his hand limply, "You make a cute couple. Also, can you get me an ambulance?"

They didn't get him one. The phones weren't working. They got an ice pack.

0000

Marcy told her dad over their walkies, "Okay, I'll stay at the hospital."

"Yeah, sorry, I know I'm supposed to pick you up, but power is out, and so are the signal towers. Everything is going crazy."

"I got it, Dad. Just go arrest the bad guys and be safe."

"Love you, Marcy."

Marcy decided to find a bench to sit on until this all passed over.

"Stupid thing-"

A man walked past, slapping at his smartphone. "Why can't I get a signal?"

"Powers out," Marcy replied.

"What?" Ford looked out a nearby window to the dark streets outside.

"No power means that signal towers won't work, so smartphones won't. Not unless you have an independent transmitter like military grade walkie-talkie or a satellite phone."

Ford sighed, "And I didn't notice it because the hospital's backup generators kept this place lit. I guess I could try to get internet through the hospital."

"Yeah, good luck; I'm sure everyone is flooding the phone lines that work; everything will be ultra slow- WAIT- Your Ford Pines!"

Ford was startled, "Oh, yes, I didn't expect someone of your generation to recognize me. Most of your generation gets their news off social media."

"News? The paper? Yeah, I read it from time to time. My dad and I do the Sunday crossword together. No! I know you from your research paper on Mental Transportation Across Dimensions Theory; I used it on my Iseaki Could Totally Be Real Paper for School!"

Ford was confused. "What's an izzy kay? Wait, you understood my paper?"

"Understood it, I loved it! I've read all your work. Your research on statistical anomalies was poetry!"

"Well, I'm glad you liked it. I was told that was a quack. I can't blame them; my research didn't pan out."

"Well, anomalous, by their definition, don't work like how you'd expect them to, so I guess that makes sense."

Ford and Marcy began to chat and were interrupted when a nurse said, "Mister Pines, we need to talk about Miss Clawthorne."

Marcy tried to eavesdrop but did.

"Sir, one of the nurses found Miss Clawthorne on the floor; we think we were going to the bathroom; maybe she fell and ruptured something; she's bleeding internally. We have been unable to contact her emergency contact."

Ford held his tongue; they couldn't contact her family either. Maybe it was written down wrong, or something happened, but he wasn't sure she wasn't in the state to answer.

"She needs emergency surgery. We need someone to sign off on it; you are the only person we can turn to."

0000

Giffany was overloaded with information; numbers and figures ran through her head.

She saw something: a news story about… her being hurt at the tower; a dark room came to life as an electric specter erupted out of the wall. It hovered above a place covered in police tape around a workstation and broken computer equipment.

I was here.

Flashes came into her mind about a tank falling and electricity.

Why? Was she here? Why was she hurt?

Then she remembered who to blame.

0000

Andrias sent messages; they were told to organize groups to keep their people from going crazy during this mess. People were animals and would scratch each other for the most minor thing. He didn't need them to be part of it.

The generators kept things going here, but it would be a rough night.

He closed his eyes as the room lit with light. His eyes focused as a strange figure made out of electricity screeched before him.

"You!" It screamed at him, its voice loud and distorted.

"Me." He said calmly. "Since we both know who I am, maybe you could tell me your name?" He calmly poured himself a drink.

She paused. She wasn't expecting that reaction. “I … am…”

"Come now, I think therefore I am, that's the most basic thing to a sentient being. I mean, if that is what you are. I would hope that I hadn't angered something nonsentient. That would be a first. Then again, that philosophy is based on the premise that thought itself can't be faked, that thought can't be faked or be an illusion."

"What?" Her head ached, "Stop… talking… I need…. to think…”

"Be my guest, but don't break into a man's office without so much as a point to make."

"You! You hurt me!"

"Maybe, I've hurt a lot of people. I can't say I recognized you, and you have a face I think I'd remember."

He picked up a mirror and turned to his guest.

She looked at it, a glitching mess of arching yellow lightning vaguely shaped like a girl in a dress and pigtails.

"I will repeat myself: Who are you?"

"…Giffany." That was the only name that popped into her mind.

"Giffany, the streamer who got hurt?"

"Yes!" Yes, that was who she was. She got hurt. It was because of him.

"I invited you here, that is true, but I didn't hurt you."

"You put me here! I got hurt here!"

"That's as you kids put it: Basic. I invited plenty of people, but I wasn't the one who caused this."

He turned around his computer and played the security footage he had saved.

"Criminals had rushed in to take our revolutionary power source. They weren't going to hurt anyone. Just leave with their price until-"

The footage showed Spider-Frog swinging by and fighting them. Then, their fighting scared one guy, eventually leading to the tank failing and falling on her.

"If some do-gooder hadn't gotten involved, you'd be fine. But someone just had to stick their nose into things."

He was right; she wouldn't have been hurt if that so-called superhero hadn't gotten involved. She wouldn't be in the white space screaming for who knows how long. Her every moment wouldn't feel like burning.

Andrias leaned in and smiled, "I know what I would do with your new condition and this information. If someone hurt me, I would hurt them back. But what are you going to do?"

She poured herself into a socket in a flash of light and vanished.

Andrias leaned back into his chair, "That was easier than I thought."

He set things in motion a while ago. He wanted an unstable internet personality to get hit. He knew people who showed their whole lives online didn't tend to be all stable and were usually desperate for attention. Frake's experiment provided a possibility, used to give someone powers, and they treat them and act all surprised they got powers. Then they trained them, people would think it was PR to have their own hero, and they would adore the attention they would get. Positive reinforcement and subtle prodding, and they would turn to their side. Not an actual superhero, but their own private super soldier. Things were already turning against Spider-Frog. They would set them against each other… and well, you know what happens to frogs when they get struck by lightning.

This was even better; the whole electric ghost was a turn, but he could roll with it. She seemed crazed; with a few words, she'd go hunt down Spider-Frog without him needing to raise a hand. He'd pretend to be devastated, a tragedy that such a young life was snuffed out, but who could have predicted an electric-powered freak. Spider-Frog would be dead, and he'd claim the body, and they would find out how she worked, who she was, and ultimately where his gem was.

He took a swig of his drink, "I love it when a plan comes together."

He winced as the power went out, all energy being diverted into one room now.

0000

Spider-Frog webbed up more thieves, and Black Cat waved at a few people who were taking pictures.

"Yes, you're all safe. You have to thank the Cat and the Spider. You're all welcome."

"She forgot me, and what did she do." Sprig commented.

"Don't fight. We are going to have a long night."

0000

She felt the machines, computers, and phones; her mind reached for them. She found Andrias like this without trying, but now she was aware. She knew what she was looking for. She could see her in a blink.

There she was.

0000

"Hey, the lights are on." Spider-Frog smiled, hoping it meant things would be in order soon.

"That's weird." Sprig noted the camera's turning towards them.

Their tingle went off, and all the street lights exploded, pouring out electricity and wrapping themselves into a glitching form.

"SPIDER-FROG!"

People screamed and ran as they saw it form.

"Hello." Anne blurted out.

"YOU DID THIS!"

"You did?" Black Cat looked at her.

"How did I do this? I have spider and frog powers!"

"You made me!"

"I did-"

"You HURT ME!" Giffany screamed, shooting lightning at them.

They jumped away, leaving a car to burst into flames.

"How do you attract these guys?!" Black Cat jumping around to try to avoid the attacks. She threw an attack after attacking, trying to fry them.

"It's not my fault!" Spider-Frog leaped, trying to avoid another hit.

"Fine! Got anything that would stop this thing!"

Giffany was learning, and she was learning quickly, her shots were taking time to aim, but that time was getting shorter as she got used to it.

The explosions and giant sources of light attracted cops. They paused to see what the electricity was, pulled out their guns, and fired.

One could tell she was rolling her eyes despite not having formed eyes. She raised her hands and fired at them, blowing up their cars.

Spider-Frog reacted and tried to leap to help them when Black Cat stopped her.

"Hold up, Spider. I got an idea. Do you trust me?"

"No." Sprig answered.

"Yes," Spider-Frog told her.

"Okay, get her attention for a moment. I have a plan, but she can't pay attention."

"Got it!" She leaped towards the electricity being. "Here! You want me. I'm right here!"

"Anne, are you sure about this?"

"No, but I got nothing else, do you?" She took a breath, "Hey, Glitter! I'm right here!”

Anne gulped as she reached for her and decided to grab her with her hands to finish her up like this.

"Gotcha!" Black Cat yelled.

Using her claws, she slashed at a fire hydrant and released a torrent of water at Giffany.

Giffany screamed as the water struck her form and started to disperse as she glitched out even worse.

"Ha! Water beats electric types!" Black Cat smiled to herself.

"No, electric types beat water types." Spider-Frog corrected her.

"Really?"

"Yeah, I got a friend who a nut for that game, I'm sure."

"Huh, well, it worked."

The water started to die down as the electric mass withered. "No…. No… I need… I need… more… more power…”

"Good luck," Black Cat taunted, "everything is out."

Giffany reached out, but everything felt dead and cold except for one bright spot. She leaped into a broken light, and the others could only watch as a power burst rushed through the lines.

Spider-Frog and Black Cat jumped up on the buildings and rushed upwards to see where this monster was running.

"Oh no..."

They saw it racing toward the only place with power nearby, the hospital with its generator. Both of the girls hoped that someone they knew wouldn't be there.

Chapter Text

They both bolted to the hospital, neither saying a single word. Both swung through the city as fast as they could, the hospital's light leading their way.

Sprig clung to Anne as they moved, he didn’t need their connection to know she was afraid for Marcy.

They could only silently hope that Marcy was safe.

0000

“Is everything okay?” Marcy asked.

Ford signed some paperwork to allow the hospital to perform the surgery on Lilith. It didn’t seem like it had much of a choice.

“Is your friend going to be okay?”

Ford paused, that question was more complicated than it should be. Were they friends? Lilith worked for him, it’s not like they didn’t get along. They had discussions on many topics before, he enjoyed those talks. Did he have any friends? He wasn’t the best with people, his brother was always the charmer.  He worked well with people but he didn’t think he was all that close to people.

He realized Marcy was looking at him, “Yes, I know the doctors will do everything they can.”

“Okay, so what’s this thing about the robot?”

“Robot?”

Marcy held out the files Ford put down while he spoke to the doctors. “I thought with the symbols it was something about those Gold Age Comics. You know those wartime epics of the heroes in the war. Like Captain-“

“Those weren’t comics.”

“Yeah, I got that pretty quickly. Those are scientific journals about this Electro. I just thought was an obscure comic character, but it seems it was based on real-life research—electromagnetic transmission of a neural interface. I mean, that ambitious now, I can’t even believe someone was working on it during the war. Just the math is mind-boggling, not even figuring out how to keep mental wavelengths undisrupted when transmitted.”

Ford blinked, he did figure this girl was smart but she had a firm grasp of the science.

Ford was intrigued. “Did you hear about that accident that happened to that internet celebrity?”

“Yeah, I heard she’s in a coma here.”

“Well, there is some strange phenomena behind her situation-“

The lights all over the hospital started to flicker before going off, countless machines rang out, and in a fraction of a second, the staff moved to action to stabilize the situation.

Many nurses began to help people breathe manually, or make sure their hearts pumped. They heard clatters as people rushed into the surgery room.

Lights were going on and off.

“What’s going on?” Ford asked.

“More!” Light shattered until a mass of blue electricity formed before them. “I need more power.”

Some people fled but the two stayed and watched amazed.

Ford snapped out of it first, “You can’t! You’ll put the people here in danger!”

While he was interested in this new energy being, he certainly wasn’t going to allow it to risk the lives of everyone here.

They jumped across and wrapped their around Marcy’s neck. Sparks flicked at Marcy’s body.

Ford winced at it, even at a distance he felt the heat.

“I need more power.”

“You want the generator!” Marcy yelled out. “Don’t hurt me and I can help you get to it.”

“Do it!” Their distorted voice yelled out.

Ford wasn’t about it, but when your life is at risk he couldn’t blame her.

“Just don’t hurt us, I’ll lead the way.

“Do it! Don’t think you can outrun me!”

Marcy glanced at Ford before walking away leading this creature away from the other patients and staff.

0000

Black Cat and Spider-Frog arrived at the hospital the lights going on and off, they raced inside.

“Where do we go?” Black Cat asked.

A patient ran screaming out of the door.

Spider-Frog shrugged, “I guess in the direction they ran from.”

They ran as fast as they could seeing burn marks on walls, people fleeing, and people just trying to keep others alive.

0000

“I know this place, it’s like my second home,” Marcy said as they pushed the door.

She pointed across to a massive white machine.

“Yup, that’s the generator.”

At that point, Ford got her plan.

This being went for it, Giffany felt power in it, but something felt wrong. “Are you sure? This doesn’t look like a generator.”

Ford grabbed Marcy and pulled her behind a barrier before pressing a large red button, the MRI whirled to life.

Giffany screeched her form being distorted being pulled into the machine.

Electrical currents could be distorted with strong enough magnetic fields, it was something in the files that Marcy read. If this entity was made out of electricity then it made sense that the strongest magnet they could manage could hurt her.

The machine broke down and the entity crumbled to the ground hissing.

“That worked.” Marcy smiled.

At that moment Spider-Frog and Black Cat rushed in.

They rushed over to Marcy to check she was okay. Ford glanced over at the sparky plasma.

“Are you okay?” Spider-Frog asked,

“I’m fine, we took care of that thing, what is it anyway?”

“I don’t know, it claimed I made it.”

“It just went nuts and attacked us before rushing here.” Black Cat added.

Ford paid some attention but was more intrigued by the whirling mass, he thought he heard something. “G- Gi-“

“What?”

“GIFFANY!” The mess shrieked before in a pulse of power dissipated.

“The name of the Vtuber who got hurt?” Marcy noted the strangeness of the comment.

“Oh no.” Ford started to piece things together, “The anomaly, it was an electro phenomenon. Those insects must have created a mutation and split her mind and body. The magnet would force it to readjust and - she’s going into her body.” Ford rushed out of the room.

“Say what?” Black Cat asked confused.

Marcy catches up, “Go after him!”

0000

They reached the room where the internet celebrity lay, and they were engulfed in blue light.

Her body shook before seemingly starting to burn. The body dissolved and shifted. Slowly the body was reformed into that of a young woman with long hair, a schoolgirl uniform, and a cable-like ribbon. The outfit was black with blue accents, and even her hair was blue.

“It’s like a color-inverted version of her Vtuber model.” Marcy came limping along.

“I finally feel like myself.” Giffany sighed, everything didn’t feel like screaming.

“The electro Phenomena is extensive, it manipulates the molecules over your body. You reshaped your form.”

Giffany played with her hand letting it turn into electricity before turning it into flesh. “Hm, Electro… well, I guess I do need a bit of rebranding. But first!”

0000

Anne was confused, she was blasted out through the building and windows and outside the building.

Anne! Move!

Spider-Frog reached out shooting out her web swing from straight up hitting the ground.

A bold of electricity rushed out behind her.

“I don’t mind the new form, but it was HELL!” Electro yelled out. “I’m going to fry you for that!”

Black Cat jumped out to try and help. Marcy took out her phone to try to get a video of the super fight.

Okay, so what do we do?” Sprig yelled. “Water? Magnets don’t seem to work.”

“I’m too busy trying to dodge lightning!” Anne kept jumping around avoiding blast after blast. Most of them hit cars in the parking lot.

“Wait what am I doing?” She held out her hands and electronics from the cars flew towards her until she found the right things, several phones swirled around her flicking to life.

Floating around her she smiled, “Hello it’s your girl, the one and only Giffany. I know you guys have been worried sick for me. I noticed all your messages.” She blew kisses to the cameras.  “You see, I’ve gotten a new model IRL. I’m also taking up the name Electro, it’s got that noir sci-fi feel. But don’t worry I’m still the same old Giffany you know and love. Today I bring you a very special stream. It’s a showdown, Electro vs Spider-Frog. Ugh, what a dumb name. It’s time to get payback for BURNING ME IN CYBER SPACE!”  She glitched, “So make sure you root for me. Toodles! While I take care of business.”

Power went back across the city while screens all tuned into the stream.

“You’re going to try and kill me over the internet? That has got to be against the terms and conditions.” Spider-Frog shouted.

“Yeah, keep making jokes. My fans will enjoy your last words.” Electro flew through the air shooting bolts out of her hand. “If this is going to be your last bow, make it one to remember.”

“Sprig you-“

I’m not going to leave you. We are this through the end.”

Their tingle was the only thing giving them an edge, to avoid the blast that most people couldn’t avoid.

Spider-Frog saw another car exploding, “Okay, Sprig we got to move.”

0000

Black Cat raced to help the Spider.

“You can’t be serious, are you going to fight them?”

She paused, “Uh what?”

“I didn’t think the infamous Black Cat would be playing hero?”

“Who is there?” She looked around trying to find the source of the voice.

“You don’t need to know, but do try not to get yourself killed.”

Black Cat was going to look into this but a car exploded and a wheel rolled past her.

“Move it!” Spider-Frog swung in and picked her up.

“Spider!”

“I could use your help,”

She scoffed, “Yeah, why do you think I was on my way.”

“I got a plan,”

They both dropped to the ground as Electro zapped the web they had been swinging on. They managed to land on their feet.

“If this is going to become a two-against-one, can we at least focus on me.” Electro scowled.

“Oh, I’ve met some loudmouths in my day but jeez lady.” Black Cat spat back.

“Okay, I was going to kill the spider first but you’re moving up my list, skank.”

“Skank!?”

“You heard me.”

“You’re flying around with a skirt,  and you got cameras going all around. You expect me not to figure out how you plan to get views?”

Electro’s face went red at the accusation. “You’re wearing a skin suit!”

A car wheel smacked Electro in the face.

“Clip it!” Black Cat smiled.

“What?” Electro looked around. Sprig pulled wheels from the damaged cars and hurled them at the villain.

Spider-Frog webbed up the tire and hurled it before Electro got a chance to recover.

Black Cat quickly moved to get a tire and hurled it at Electro, after being belted once or twice she figured she had to do something. Electro held her hand out as the tire rushed towards her zapping it. The tire heated up hitting her, and the mess of melted rubber clung to her. Tires had enough rubber to not be affected by electricity, so the heat did a number on them.

Electro tried to pull it off when another tire hit her.

Spider-Frog yanked Electro down with a web forcing her to the ground. Sprig and Black Cat started to throw tired onto Electro, staking them around her one by one. Spider-Frog dropped another on the electric villain.

“You think this is going to stop me!” Electro let out every bold of power she could to blast the tires off, but it only made matters worse as they melted on her. Soon Electro found herself caught in a mess of melted tires and her electricity was unable to do a thing. Electro found herself too exhausted to shoot out any more electricity, and she was physically too weak to free herself.

She just started to curse the heroes.

As she ran out of electricity the camera phones dropped to the ground, with the stream coming to an end.

“I can’t believe that worked.” Spider-Frog sighed.

Sirens were heard, signaling the police were coming.

“Gotta go!” Black Cat yelled.

Spider-Frog agreed, she was already on the bad side of the cops for other things she didn’t think they would blame her for this too.

“Sprig!” She reached out for her Frog companion before swinging off.

The Police soon arrived, amongst them was Captain Wu who looked up to see his daughter waving at him.

0000

The following morning, the news was showing footage of the fight. While it wasn’t news that villains were a thing, this was the first one with actual superpowers and not tech-based. People were surprised at the news that the Vtuber had become a criminal, or that her form had changed and no sign of her changing back.

Ford was reporting on the science behind what he discovered.  He also paid for the footage that Marcy filmed, since unlike the stuff that Electro filmed, it didn’t have her commentary.

Ford sighed as he waited in the hospital, there had been complications. The power had gone out when Lilith was under surgery, they did what they could when the power was out there were complications.  Lilith had yet to wake up, and they didn’t know if she would. Only time will tell.

Ford looked over her resume and all her records, some things didn’t make sense. Looking deeper into it, it looked like Lilith didn’t have a past they could trace.

“What are you trying to hide?”

0000

In the back of a train, a gray-haired woman kept her hood up, waiting until the train arrived in LA.

“Hold on Lilith.”

0000

Marcy wasn’t expecting to get a payday from Doctor Ford but she was happy to get it. She was busy ordering parts and clothes, she had ideas and now had the money to fund them.

0000

A dark-skinned, bald man watched as people loaded the glass cage Giffany was in. She was in a special straight jacket.

“Did you have to put me in a jacket?!” She yelled, “I still have melted tire in my hair, you could at least let me scratch.”

They were moving the cage into a truck.

The man watched as his watch rang, and with a touch, the screen flickered alive.

“Hey, bosses.”

“Agent X, how’s it going on?”

“We are taking the prisoner to the raft personally. I’ll oversee everything myself.  We won’t make the same mistake with those three clowns, the local cops can’t handle them so we will. I’ve also arranged for The Chameleon, the Heron, and the Shocker to get moved to the raft with our agents overseeing everything. Who named these guys?”

“Never mind that we have your next assignment.”

“Oh, is it about the project with little Miss Spider-Frog?”

“Yes.”

0000

Anne rested in her bed after the day, she was tired. She had Sprig in his talk, he was telling his family all about the fight with Electro.

“And the crazy lady was all zap! Blast and boom!”

“Cool! Next time I’m coming along.”

“Polly you are far too young to be doing anything that crazy. Your brother is at least all scary strong.”

Anne blinked, she was sure she was hearing three voices. She looked at the bottom of the tank where that glowing gemstone rested.

“Oh, maybe I shouldn’t have put it in their tank.”
