The flashes of zarkadian pearls gleamed in her mind. The enforcer calling her an idiot on the way back from Fredtown. Waking up covered in bruises after starting a riot. The memories flashed in her mind. Whimpering in her deep nightmare. She knew it wasn't real. The enforcers were gone! Everything was okay! But seeing Fernweh (Alien teenager) reminded her of those times. Rosi could never forget. The light cage, the feeling of helplessness when she was under enforcer control.
Unbeknownst to her, Bobo had heard her cries and went over to comfort his sister. He walked from his room, down the long hallway through their house. And into her dark blue room. She was tossing and turning, tears staining her pillow. Bobo jumped onto the large bed, sitting beside his sibling. This was the third time this week he had woken up to this.
Rosiii wake upppp….! Bobo whined. But all he got was her turning away from him.
This soon became a common occurrence, Fernweh began to notice Rosi’s anxious behavior. But she refused to let anyone know of her trauma. Edwey became concerned for his friend. Deep down he had suspicions of what was keeping her silent. He felt similar. He had many nightmares of what would've happened if his birth father hadn’t sent him to Refuge city, would the enforcers still be on earth? Would Rosi and Bobo even be alive? At Fredtown they hadn’t been educated on mental health, no one had problems with it and the Freds figured that they would be better off clueless. If they were to teach the human children, then they would have more questions about bullying, and why they hadn’t met any bullies. This could've led to the kids figuring out that they were in a stranger situation then they realized.
Rosi?
Edwey knocked on her door, she was locked in her room with her teenage gloom. It used to be a rare occurrence that Rosi cried, but it has become more common recently. She would rarely leave her room, from the glances they had got at her it only led to them becoming more worried. Her hair was a raggedy mess, her clothes were the same as yesterdays. The Freds had taught a lesson on mental health at the city of Jubilee, doing the best they could to help Rosi. But despite the new knowledge, this could not save her from her sobs of anguish. She rarely ate, and whenever she did later there were sounds of sobbing after the gagging. It was no surprise to anyone when throw up was found clogging the toilet pipes.
The dust of the Zarchadian soil clogged his throat, as Edwey trekked through the new plots of land. Soon to turn into the city center. Suddenly a large figure of light appeared before him.
Edwey, we are concerned about Rosi. Reports came from your fellow citizens that she was in a ravenging depression. Is this true?
The fred stated with a sad look on their face.
Yes… I haven’t seen her in days. She won’t eat a thing….
Edwey replied.
We will be coming back to (planet) soon to check up on her. She may need hospitalization if she won’t eat.
The Fred said, the image flickering in the fading light.
I need to go now, I have a meeting to attend to.
Rosi I hope you are okay……
The Fred whispered this as they flickered out.
Edwey, satisfied with the check on the plots, started walking back to the neighborhood. Everything was the same. The same red house on the corner before the landing pad. The same mailboxes, All the way down until you couldn't see. The long road stretching across the horizon. They were safe here! Weren’t they…? They just needed to make sure it didn't happen again. The lack of power in the Human species. Everything had mostly gone back to normal on Earth. 13 years ago normal. He and Rosi were both officially teenagers. Though he felt just as out of control of his life as he had before.
