"This is ridiculous! Erwin, you need to stop gambling on decisions which can end up costing your life" y/n argued with her brother in his office. She was not happy with his plan, not only from the perspective of a family member but also as a member of the survey corps. Y/N was the head engineer after Hange Zoe, she played a major part in the advancement of ODM gear. There was no doubt you were not an excellent fighter or scout, nor an extraordinary engineer; however, Erwin still refused to get you promoted to Section commander or give you a squad. Erwin was not commander yet but his advice to the commander at the time, Keith Sadies, was followed. He wanted to protect you from not just pain and danger but also difficult decisions. Y/N had her hands slammed and spread on his table as she put her weight on them, waiting for his response. Erwin sighed, having already explained his reasoning. "It is too late y/n, we bring them in today. Besides, it won't be that bad If they succeed. The scouts would have found humanity's strongest" He chuckled slightly, standing up and walking towards where his green cloak rested.
"that's not funny." you retorted at his attempt to make a joke. Before you could proceed Erwin spoke, "Y/N trust me. We will need them, and just so you are less.. stressed, you can tag along" a small smile appearing on y/n's face, "but" he added "don't engage much. We have been able to hide that we are siblings from the others, do not let this little quest expose much." You nodded with a quick, of course. Erwin was always reminding you that their relationship was a secret. The only people in the known besides them were Commander Keith Sadies and Hange, who found out by accident. To be honest, there was not much of a reason to keep this a secret, Erwin just worried about this fact being taken advantage of, knowing what happened to his father and how y/n lived separate, away with her mother
That afternoon you accompanied Erwin to the underground where the survey corps met the future section commander and his two friends for the first time. Y/N was unaware that today was the day she met the man who she would fall head over heels for.
Not participating in the chase and capture, y/n watched as Erwin got the short jet black-haired boy to drop his knife. He was only about an inch taller than you. Yes being Erwin's sister one would expect you to at least be as tall as him, even if you looked different. Though the reason for y/n's stunted growth is not much different than the man's in front of her. (Levi is 5'4 and you are 5'3 here, I apologize if you are taller). Soon, Levi, his ginger, and a blond friend were on their knees in front of Erwin, and y/n behind. From the looks of it, The shorter man seemed to be the leader and most skilled/feisty of the three. As you observed each one of the three future companions, you saw how the ginger called the short one "bro." How the tallest one of the bunch was protective of both of them, especially how he flinched at the sight of the other male's face being shoved into the ground. Y/N noticed how filthy the puddle his face was smashed against was. She was not a clean freak, but that was disgusting. The male seemed to mind it as well, though he did not choose to express it. He however was keen to notice y/n. How she just stared as if she came to be entertained. The other scouts engaged with him and his friends, surely through threats and attacks but this female was odd. She stood behind Erwin, not saying a word, not participating in the chase. The young man was certainly intrigued. He observed her for the little time he got, noticing her quietly looking around the underground never having been there before. When she looked away and brought her right foot on her left calf. Returning her foot and beginning to pick on her fingernails.
Letting Erwin do all the talking, they agreed to join the scouts as planned. Their names were as follows, Furlan Church, Isabel Magnolia, and Levi.
