Work Text:
His trip to meet Razor had come to an abrupt halt. Yet luck seemed to be in Bennett's favour for once in his life, despite him now having his legs tangled with his rusty bike, a food decorated dog lead and a fair-haired boy who was on top of him, not to mention the immense amount of rain that he'd been unluckily met with earlier, making him rather damp. But all that didn't matter to him. Only that the faired haired boy was possibly the prettiest person he'd ever seen and he had the honours off crashing into him.
The background noise of a light dog barking had faded as honed in on the nameless boy's features. Skin fairer than his light blue hair made the crimson in his face much the more clearer. The expression he held was one of distress and embarrassment as both of his hands (one containing a dog lead) flew to cover his face before Bennett could appreciate any more of his features.
"I'm so so so sorry oh my god!" Despite the anguish so clear in his voice, Bennett still softened at the sound of it. It was neither low nor high and yet it was still quite light and attention-grabbing. Similar to that of a lullaby, Bennett could listen to the voice for a while.
"Uhm... are you okay?" the lovely sound had called his attention to the situation at hand and Bennett's face rushed red at his placement. The boy was literally on top of him, seated on his lower torso and his arms were entangled with his own as well as the lead he held. The other person's hands had been removed from their face and were presumably looking down at Bennett with confusion, Bennett couldn't tell the sun behind the person had made it hard to see.
"Oh, Yeah! I'm totally coo-crap!" While attempting to put a thumbs-up sign out, the lead is pulled by another force, slightly dragging Bennett and the boy seated on him a few centimetres towards the corner shop round where the collision occurred. And somehow this tangled lead had put the two teenagers closer together. Bennet presumed the person was a teenager anyways.
Their faces had gotten a lot closer and now Mondstat boy could see the facial features of the one boy more cleanly. The baby blue hair was complemented by the monochromatic features of his eyebrows and lashes, awe was held on Bennetts's expression for quite a while, especially as he looked at the person's eyes which had met with his own. Reminiscent of a cat, the person's eyes were also blue, accompanied by nearly naked-to-the-eye lashes that seemed rather delicate.
An awkward cough from the other person snapped him out of his daze once again and Bennett grinned guiltily at the other.
"How about we try and untangle ourselves?" Entranced by the person's vocals, Bennett obliged willingly.
-
"Thanks! And also sorry...heh!" The two, (three if he includes the bear looking dog that looked sad with his lead pulled back) had untangled themselves with surprising ease, ease that made Bennett suspicious since his bad luck seemed to make everything worse, even if the situation was messy already. Yet everything was fine, even the weather, which seemed to be on his ass all the time. The evil of the rains had stopped forcing themselves down onto Bennett and anyone who he surrounded, and he was now met with clear skies.
"Sorry for what? It was my fault Guoba here almost ran into you. If anything, I should be the one that's sorry." The pretty boy gently smiles at Bennett before his eyes glide over him, the blonde-haired boy feeling hot with the attention being on him. Bennet was planning on a response that ultimately blamed himself and his god awful luck but any effort to speak immediately disappeared when the pretty boy grabbed his wrist, face close as if he were assessing it.
"You seem to have a few scratches"
Subtle redness rose to Bennetts's face as he attempted to process what was happening, his voice faltering enough that the only noise he could get out was a "Huh?"
"If we don't clean them they might be infected. Do you mind?" The cloud personified looked up at Bennett as a means to confirm. Bennet could now see the diamond-shaped pupils underneath his tired eyelids more clearly, the ranging. He concluded that his lashes were not transparent, but rather a pretty shade of blue to match his hair colour.
"Um, hello? Earth to... um?" Shit! Bennett's snapped out another one of his gazes, the concern in the other boy's face making him more embarrassed that he'd been staring so hard. He surely thinks I'm a freak now oh my god! . He would have covered his eyes if it were not for the pretty boy holding it.
"Are you alright with me helping?" Ah right, the conversation Bennett listened to (he did for the most part). So with all the confidence he could dig up from the panicked parts of his mind, he huffed.
"Yeah, if that's not bothering you." It was as if the god of luck was on his side for once, as he was blessed with an awkward yet so meaningful and lovely smile that he could faint. The boy quickly turned his head upon realising demeanour, and though thinking his eyes were deceiving him, he could see slight redness in his cheeks. "Oh, and my name's Bennett by the way!"
"Chongyun."
What a pretty name. Razor wouldn't mind if he was late, right?
-
Bennet learned that Chongyun was from the outskirts of Liyue City, Qingce to be exact so him walking around near Dawn Winery wasn't as odd as it seemed. He also learned that he was in the same year of high school they went to the same school, only Bennett was in a class lower than him and Chongyun was a few months older. He was on a walk with his friend's dog, Guoba, because she had Club activities and he often did favours for his friends. He'd learnt all of that while the other boy was decorating his arms with snowflake plasters from his bag.
That was another thing he learnt about Chongyun, that they're not so different.
When Bennett assumed they were going to the near Cornershop to look for plasters, Chongyun had surprised him with his own mini First-Aid Kit, similar to his own back home. With an embarrassed (yet cute) expression, he explained that he often got into accidents himself, being susceptible to lots of heat and even having allergic reactions to certain foods. It made sense now as to why, when he had taken a glimpse of the liyuean boy's kit, it had cold packs, an EpiPen, and an electric fan beside the standard First-Aid equipment.
He also noticed that the case wasn't a usual green, but rather a light blue, decorated with clouds a Sanrio character he'd seen before (something like a cinnamon roll? Bennett couldn't remember) and a standard pre-school corner sun. But it was cute; It reminded Bennett of Chongyun himself, calm, collected but warm to be around. Though they'd only just met. Bennett hoped it wouldn't be the only time they did.
"And you're good to go!" A sigh escaped from Chonguns mouth as he stood up from the curb where they sat. His hands pressed his waist as he arched his back, before putting his arms in the to stretch. Bennett watched hesitantly how his knitted vest and shirt rose a little to expose his fair stomach.
"Anyways, I've gotta go to the park, poor Guoba's been sitting here, probably wondering if I'm going to leave at all" He let out an awkward yet light giggle that caused something in his chest to flutter, but he dismissed it, with the Reality of Chongyun leaving.
That's right. We don't actually know each other. he grimaced, unaware of the down expression on his face. Chongyun held up Guoba's lead, weaving the excess in and out of his fingers. Not very practical but cute to see. Bennett wanted to say something so badly, his arm scratching at the nape of his neck to urge him on, though it only made him more anxious. "Um... Yeah..?" Unsure and awkward, those were the only words he could manage to get out and now self-pity drowned out most of the enjoyment he had.
He watched as Chongyun walks away, itching Guoba closer to him to prevent him from running off again and Bennett takes it as his cue to leave. He turns, lifting his leg around to his slight rust bike to the peddle on the other side with a down look on his face.
"Bennett!"
The called boy looked in the way that his name was called and saw Chongyun, gorgeously standing there with a beam of the sun making him shine.
"I'll see you around? We do go to the same school after all."
Wordlessly, Bennett nodded and another flutter of his chest arose at the snort Chongyun let out.
Not long after Bennett left, the rain started to pour down, completely drenching him, but nothing could wash the grin off Bennett's dopey face. His mind was preoccupied with the thought of the pretty boy he crashed into.
