Work Text:

“Sana!”

“Sana! Wake up!”

Sana’s eyes flutter open, and she drowsily looks up to find you standing over her, your hand on her arm. “Ohhh—” A loud yawn forces its way through, and she stretches her arms, craning her neck from side to side. “Sorry, Professor. Did something happen?”

“Nothing. It’s just….” Your eyes glance around the office building. “It’s past midnight, and everyone is already gone.”

“Yeah, sure, I’ll come down rig— What!” Sana forces herself out of her seat and looks around the room. Dark, empty, the only light coming from the small black desk light she was sleeping under. She shakes her head in disbelief and checks her watch, a sigh leaving her lips once she’s finally able to read the time. “What are you still doing here?”

“I had some late-night paperwork.” You look over at the pile of signed papers sitting on So Hee’s desk. “Had a few too many coffees, though, so I feel okay.”

“That sounds nice.” Sana runs her hand through her hair, untangling the annoying knots in the end. “Let’s go then.” She quickly picks up her keys and phone before turning off the lamp.

You nod slowly and wait for her to finish picking up all her belongings before walking toward the elevator. “Do you need a ride home?”

“I live right down the street. Don't you remember?” A glimmer of frustration appears on her face, and she lets out an annoyed huff.

“I just don’t want you walking home alone at midnight by yourself.” You call the elevator and cross your arms. “That's all.”

A slight blush creeps up on Sana’s face, and there's a slight hitch in her breathing as she swallows a nervous lump caught in her throat. “I'll be fine. Thank you, though.” She sneaks a glance towards you, just in time to see you slowly nod, your eyes closed.

The elevator doors then open with a loud ding, and Sana grabs your wrist, pulling you in beside her. She stands beside you in the elevator; her arm tucked into your own. Her head rests against your shoulder, and she's just close enough that she can get a whiff of your cologne. “Tobacco?”

“What did you say, Sana?”

Her eyes stay closed as she snuggles into your shoulder, the elevator slowly descending. “Your cologne. It smells different.”

“So Hee recommended a new one for me.”

Sana’s eyes open at the mention of your secretary’s name. “You never asked for my opinion.” Her gaze bores into the side of your head until you turn and meet her eyes.

“Someone forced me to start wearing a wristwatch.” You raise the wrist that Sana was holding onto slightly, just enough to lower the cold metal bracelet, so it touches her hand.

“You wore it!” Her eyes light up as she stares at the blue dial, and she grabs onto your wrist, admiring the watch more closely. A relieved sigh leaves her lips before she lets go of your wrist, putting her arm back through yours and leaning against you again. “I thought you’d never wear it after you wore a different one to the dinner party.”

A soft laugh leaves your lips. “You can't wear a bracelet to formal events.”

“My fault,” she smiles and opens her eyes once the elevator doors open to the lobby.

It was still brightly lit, a few researchers and nurses scampering about. The fountain in the middle provided the lovely sound of running water accompanied by the rhythm of your oxfords clicking against the floor.

Sana stays close to you as both of you walk through the lobby, her arm still laced through yours. It earns the stares of other nurses, a few whispering in each other’s ear, but Sana only cuddles closer to you.

Only once you step out the sliding doors does Sana let go of your arm. “Well….” She nervously rocks from side to side, looking at the ground. “I should probably get going, then.” Her eyes meet yours before she does a quick wave. “I'll see you tomorrow, Professor.”

You scoff and take a few steps to start walking alongside her. “I’m not letting you walk home alone, Sana.”

“No, it’s fine. I ca—” She yelps as you grab onto her wrist and tuck her arm through yours. Your eyes meet, and she rolls her eyes. “If you insist.” Her voice feigns annoyance, but she looks away, hiding the crimson blush on her face.

Sana’s house was just a few minutes down Main Street past the nightclubs and art galleries of the art district in the cush newly gentrified apartments.

Walking home was one of Sana's favorite things to do: watching people leave art galleries, eat candle-lit dinners on the beautiful patios, or have fun in one of the many nightclubs,

It was midnight on Saturday. All the shops had closed down, each with their own unique lacquered plaque on the door, while the gallery windows were still brightly lit to display a few choice pieces. The street lights were dim in comparison to the bright neon lights outside of the clubs, lines of people waiting to get in.

Sana watches the couples walk past. They don’t even give both of you a second look as they stride by. In truth, outside of the hospital, your relationship was no different from theirs. Two people who met in medical school, separated by only a year. You’d helped her through all of her exams, helped her get the perfect professors, and eventually became her attending physician.

Outside the hospital, most would've considered it fate; how you helped her cram for the first exam that she magically passed with flying colors. How both of you somehow ended up on the same shifts as residents. How she was somehow assigned to your team in your first year as an attending physician.

But no. To all those nurses and the other doctors, she was just the resident who was sucking up to the most promising physician in the hopes of getting the spot opening up next year.

A soft sigh. Sana stops in front of the nightclub and looks at the neon lights, girls around her age walking in with their boyfriends.

“Something the matter?”

There are a few moments of silence between the two of you, broken only by the booming base from inside the club. “Can we go?” she says softly, eyes still on the lights.

“What did you say?”

“Can we go?” Sana meets your eyes. “Just for one night. I have vacation starting tomorrow.”

“I think you mean Sunday.”

“You’d let me start a day early anyways.” She takes her arm out of yours and turns to face you, a pout appearing. “Come onnnn.”

You scratch your head and look around, staring at the other men and women in the line. “I don’t know, Sana. We’re not exactly dressed to go clubbing.”

Sana sighs and shakes her head before stepping closer to you. She’s close enough to feel your breath on her hair as her hands quickly find their way to your collar. Her fingers nimbly undo your tie, which she stuffs into her purse before loosening another three buttons. She then does up your sleeves, rolling up the end once or twice before sliding it up the rest of your forearm. Once she’s finished, her hand finds its way to your chest, and she takes a step back, admiring her work. “You look cute. Maybe you should dress like this more often, Prof–”

“And what are you wearing?”

Sana smiles and grabs onto your hand, pulling you into a run. “Just wait for me outside, okay?” She manages out before letting go of your hand and dashing into her apartment a few buildings down from the club.

There's a brilliant smile on Sana’s face as she opens the door to her apartment and runs into her bedroom. She doesn’t even bother turning on the light before she steps into her closet and starts tossing out clothing.

After a few minutes of indecision and a quick touch of makeup, she walks back out the door.

You’re standing outside her apartment, leaning against a pillar, the sun streetlight hanging above you. Your fingers run over your shirt while you wait, making sure your outfit looks perfect. A scene pulled straight from a romantic drama.

“Sana.”

A sly smile appears on Sana’s lips when she sees the crimson blush rise over your face. “How do I look?” Her heels click on the concrete as she walks toward you.

“I like the….” Your eyes dart over her outfit, looking for something safe to pick out. “I like the beret. It's very nice.”

“Really?” Sana smiles coyly and slides against you, letting you feel the gentle curve of her hips and dropping her jacket to show her beautiful shoulders. “Not this jacket.” She waits for your eyes to make their way down to the jacket and her exposed shoulder. “It's yours, by the way.” Her hand grabs onto one shoulder of the jacket, sliding it over her freshly applied lipstick. “It still smells like you too.”

Your nervous gulp breaks the momentary silence before she slowly pulls away. “Yes. The jacket looks good as well.”

“You could've just said you liked my entire outfit,” Sana laughs, covering her mouth with her hand before grabbing onto yours. “Let's go then.”

“Sure.”

By the time you get into the line for the club, it's longer than ever, but Sana pulls you to the front of the line.

“Dong Min,” she smiles, addressing the bouncer. “Can I come in?”

The man maintains the stoic expression on his face for a moment before it quickly breaks, and a smile appears on his face. “First time with a plus one, Sana,” he says, stepping aside for her to walk through.

“It's a special occasion. Thanks, Dong-Min.” She gives him a quick wave before pulling you through the door.

It's dark; only the moving lights from the center of the club and a few carefully placed neon signs provide any source of light in the dark room. Loud EDM blares through the club's speakers, and people wander around aimlessly, some on the floor, others seated in various booths.

“Let's go get a drink first.” Sana pulls you to the bar and taps on the glass countertop. “Could I have six bottles of soju?”

The bartender nods and points towards a table close to the floor. “I'll have it brought to that table.”

“Thank you!” Sana smiles and pulls you towards the table, setting the beret beside her.

A pretty waitress comes a few moments later. “My name is Minju, so if you need anything feel free to ask me.” She sets the bottles onto the table along with two shot glasses before flashing you a wink.

“Thanks.” You give her a weak smile.

Sana watches you interact with the young lady, her hand tightly gripping on the jacket around her shoulders. But when she turns away, her hips obviously swaying a little too much, Sana breathes a sigh of relief when you meet her eyes.

“Why are you so red?” Your hand touches her cheek.

“No reason,” she stammers, averting her eyes as she opens two of the bottles. “First of many.” Her bottle dinks against yours, and each of you chugs one.

A satisfied sigh leaves her lips. “Ahhh.”

The drinks continue for the rest of the night, and after a few hours, the first six bottles are empty, along with another six. You’re still relatively sober, but your cheeks are flushed a light red.

The final bottle clinks down onto the table, and Sana suddenly grabs your hand. “We have to go dance now. Come on!”

“Sana!” you manage out as she pulls you into the center of the dance floor.

There's a sly grin on Sana’s face when she feels your presence right behind her. “You have to move with me,” she says, grabbing one of your hands and placing it on her waist as she comes closer to you.

“Sa–”

A small chuckle leaves her lips when she hears you go silent once her hips slide over your pants. “What's the matter?” Her hand snakes its way behind your neck, and she pulls you closer, just close enough that she can feel your warm breath. “Is this too close?” She brings her lips closer, just a few millimeters away. “Or is this what you’ve always wanted?”

She waits a few moments for a response, watching your tongue move over your lips. Her heart beats faster and faster, forcing the sound of the bass to the background as she pulls you closer. Your lips are moist, and your hair feels soft as she closes the distance between you. Her toes curl, and core heats up when your hands make their way to her waist, forcing her to turn around. One leg quickly finds its way around your waist while her hand grips your white shirt.

“Sana,” you breathe, cheeks flushed and heaving heavy breaths.

“Let's go.” Sana grabs your hand and pulls you toward the back of the club.

The hallways are dimly lit by a few old bulbs that occasionally flicker on and off, but Sana quickly finds the janitor’s closet and opens it. “Get in.” She pushes you in and slams the door behind her.

Her lips find yours again as the jacket around her shoulder gets tossed down to the floor. Your shirt comes off next, hung over the door handle.

“Why didn’t we do this earlier,” she breathes as your lips move down to her neck and you pull her leg up to your waist.

Sana’s breath hitches when you bite down on the side of her neck, leaving a red mark on her creamy skin. “Again. Please.” Another bite right next to her collarbone. “Agh.” She grits her teeth, the pain distracting her from the rush of warmth running through her core.

Your fingers then move around Sana’s back, finding their way to the zipper at the back of her dress. The dress then falls around her waist, exposing her lacy black bra.

A slight smile begins to form on your lips as you start undoing the clasp before Sana places both hands on your chest, shoving you back against the wall. “Let's try something else.”

A mischievous grin appears on Sana’s face when she stares at your flushed cheeks, and her hand stays firmly pressed on your chest. Her finger slowly traces down your bare chest before hooking on the top of your pants. Deftly, she opens the button and reaches in, a devious grin on her lips as she brings her face millimeters away from yours. “I can’t wai–”

“Sana!”

The clear image begins to fade away, replaced by the light peeking through her eyes as they force themselves open.

“Sana! Wake up!”

After a few grumbles, Sana forces herself to sit up and finds herself staring at Mary, the break room around her empty. “How long was I out for?”

“An hour or so. Come on, Sana.” She grabs Sana’s arm, pulling her up. “The Professor left early today, so you’re in charge.”

“Yeah. Yeah. I'm going.” Sana slips her arm out of Mary’s hold and groggily gets up.

If only I could dream forever.
