Chapter Text
Enji snapped the phone down with a annoyed huff. The boy was impossible, he had thought they had gotten passed all the rebellious teenage shit but apparently not. What the hell was Hawks going to teach his boy?!
Even Allmight’s little protégé went off to play house with Mirko.
If he had of known those two wouldn’t be accepting his internship he would not have bothered with the third invite.
The mouthy bomb brat worked well with the other two, they made a good team, but Enji hated the little shit with a passion. As soon as the kid opened his mouth he knew he would be hard pressed to keep his own temper around the brat.
How his son was friends with such a insolent child he had no idea.
Obviously the kids parents didn’t know the word discipline.
There were more important things to do beside’s babysitting so he started his work, soon forgetting that in three days he would be responsible for a child not his own.

Katsuki shifted the bag on his shoulder and glanced around the train station.
Last year when he had interned with the number one hero there had been a car waiting for them. Endeavour himself had been there.
The internship had gone well. Deku, Shoto, and himself had done well. Hell, he had even been able to save the hero’s older son from a villain.
Shrugging it off, he started walking. Probably wouldn’t get any luxuries without Shoto being there. Not that he cared, he was there to work, to gain experience. He did not need to be babied by the Flamming-shit-pile.
Their second year had just started and Katsuki was more determined than ever to prove himself. He had improved in every aspect of his hero training, even his customer relations. Instead of blowing up at all the stupid extras he had been working hard on just appearing serious. That way everyone assumed he was just working and were less inclined to joke, poke fun, or annoy him.
He used his teacher, Aizawa, as the perfect model for his facial expression. It screamed serious or maybe just indifferent … either way it seemed to work with the ones that didn’t know him. His classmates didn’t give a shit, they knew him well enough not to take his death threats seriously anyway.
The walk to the agency was long and by the time he got there he was sweating despite the cool spring weather. The woman at the front desk looked up at him and gave a grin.
“Dynamight!” She greeted. “To what do we owe the pleasure?”
At least he knew most the people here from his internship last year.
“Supposed to be starting my internship.” He grunted, shifting his bag. The woman blinked slowly, clearly not having any idea what was happening.
“Internship? … I … I’m sorry kid, I didn’t know Endeavour had anyone coming.” She flipped though her papers and looked through the computer. “I really don’t have anything written about it. Um … just a second. He is in the office I’ll call.”
What the fuck? Katsuki rolled his eyes, Endeavour wasn’t usually so disorganized. A loud yell over the phone made him jump.
“Y-yes yes, ok sir.” The woman looked at him as she hung up the phone. “He asked … he asked why you weren’t in costume and at his office already. Here, I know there is only one dorm open you can use while you are here, drop your stuff there. You better hurry.”
Katsuki frowned but did as he was instructed. He tossed his bags in the small room and pulled on his costume. It was barely five minutes later when he was knocking on the mans door.
“Get in here!”
The fuck crawled up his ass? Katsuki frowned as he walked in and was automatically shouldered aside.
“Finish the paper work I placed on your desk, when you are done go on patrol with whatever side kick is going out next.” The man demanded than stomped out.
Katsuki swallowed down the pissed off retort. Sure enough, a smaller dest was sitting off to the side with a stack of papers. Fucker. Looked as if it was all his backed up mission reports.
One thing Katsuki was not was lazy. Instead of standing around fuming he got to work. With quick efficiency he started entering the reports.
It was just after lunch when he finished. It could have taken a lot longer but he wanted to go on patrol.
“Burnin’.” He called jogging up to the second in command.
“Heya kid! Whats going on?”
“Endeavour told me to finish some reports then go out with whatever sidekick is going out next.” He explained.
“Yeah, sure. I am actually heading out now so you can tag along. At least I can trust you not to get in the way.”
Katsuki was glad he caught her, the two had a bit of a rivalry with him getting close to her numbers his first year. He was better now so this could be a really tight race.
With a quick patrol route briefing they were on their way. He didn’t need to stay right on her now that he had his provisional license, he just had to stay in the patrol area with his comm on.
As soon as they walked out the door, he gave her a smirk and exploded off into the air.
It felt great to be out and free to use his quirk. He took a moment just to enjoy the feeling before he started his part of the patrol.
first action of the day was a rescue. Not his strong suit but scooping an elderly man off the train tracks just before he was hit was both rewarding and highly dramatic. The crowds gushed over him, some even forgetting that he was supposedly feral to approach and ask for a picture.
He didn’t want to, he wanted to keep going, but he was learning so he took a few minutes to pose with his fans. Scowls and crossed arms for most, only one self-indulgent smirk when a four year old girl demanded a photo then proceeded to crouch down into his own battle pose. Katsuki couldn’t help the grin when he imitated the pose behind the little gremlin.
Launching himself back into the air, he kept moving forward.
His explosions impeded his hearing enough to know he had to rely on his other senses for his patrols, so when he caught a flash of metal he immediately changed directions.
He arrived in time to stop a mugging. The switch blade shot forward towards the would be victim until a small explosion knocked it away, then a hard right hook knocked the petty criminal out.
“Huh. Weak ass extra.” Katsuki smiled a bit as he called it in. He made sure the man was secure before tending to the victim. She was shaken up, and was grateful though still seemed a bit nervous around him. He kept a respectable distance and kept the cursing and yelling to a minimum. Aizawa would be proud … what the fuck kind of thought was that? Fuck Sleep-deprivation! He didn’t need him to be proud … he didn’t!
By the time he got back to the office four hours later. He had a stack of reports he had to file just for the crimes he stopped himself. Burnin’ bounced along beside him, showing him all the videos that had been uploaded from his growing fanbase. The one with his littlest fan was getting a lot of attention.
“Good job Dynamight!” Burnin’ patted his shoulder. They both jumped when Endeavour materialized beside them and snarled.
“You aren’t here to socialize brat. Go do your paperwork!”
So far Katsuki had been doing well to keep his anger under wraps but he certainly did not appreciate the tone the asshole was using.
“I know how to do my fucking job. I will have it done by the end of my shift.” Katsuki scowled up at the fucking giant. The man openly scoffed at him.
“Oh I doubt that brat. Go!” He pointed to towards the office. Katsuki snarled back at him but walked by him towards the small desk.
There were twelve reports he had to write in his arms, on the table there was about forty new forms he was apparently expected to finish as well.
“What the fuck? I finished all your papers this morning what are these?”
“Mine from this afternoon. You are not allowed to leave until they are complete.”
Katsuki shut his mouth with a snap. It was a good thing too because he just about told the number one hero to kiss his nitro-glycerine covered ass and walked out. Endeavour seemed to sense that it was taking effort to keep his mouth shut because the man gave a superior grin before walking away.
Burnin’ on the other hand, gave a frown and shrug.
“It is an important part of an agency,” she tried to spin it.
“I fucking know that, but I know the paper work. I can do this shit with my eyes closed.” Sighing, he headed in to get to work. No point arguing.
He made a point to input his arrests first before starting on Endeavours.
It was past his usual bedtime by the time he finished. He had just stood up to stretch and get ready to leave when Endeavour stormed back into the room.
The big man ignored him, but was mumbling pissed off statements under his breath.
Katsuki didn’t need to stick around to listen to a full grown man have a temper tantrum so he started to gather his things.
A hot palm on the back of his neck brought back more than one unwelcome memory. After a moment of his heart and breath stopping he remembered where he was and slapped the big hand away.
“The fuck you want?” Katsuki demanded stepping away.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?”
Katsuki’s lip curled in a snarl.
“To get some sleep. I’m done your fucking paper work.”
“You aren’t done for the day. Training room. You are the one that keeps saying he is going to be number one right? Time to learn what that means brat.”
*
The week was long. Sunday night Katsuki never thought he would be so happy to walk into the crowded dorm common room. His eyes scanned quickly till he found his merry band of idiots.
They were taking up an entire sofa to themselves talking excitedly about their internships.
Normally, he would have slunk off to his room but he was not feeling very good and he was smart enough to know that his mental health was suffering.
Kirishima blinked in surprise when the blonde slid into the tiny amount of space between him and Ashido, burying his face into the red heads shoulder.
“Ah … hey, Bakubro! How was your internship.”
“Shut up.” He muttered with no heat.
“Aww, come on man! It couldn’t be that bad.” Kaminari laughed, poking his side. Katsuki didn’t even have the energy to swat his hand away, or follow up with a death threat.
“He is being dramatic,” Sero smirked, “I looked at the numbers from the class and he has the highest arrest rate out of all of us. His numbers rivalled the paid sidekicks!”
“Fuck off with that,” Katsuki snapped, glancing up from his warm pillow. “Numbers don’t mean shit. I knew I could do the job before I even went, what I didn’t realize was that I am still too fucking weak.”
“What do you mean bro? You are one of the strongest in the class.” Kirishima gave him a blinding smile, one that would usually make him feel instantly better, but it didn’t work this time.
“I’m not good enough,” Katsuki pulled himself from the group, he didn’t want to talk about it. He needed a good nights sleep. They had class for two weeks before he went back to the internship for the longest stint over summer break. The school liked having an higher ratio of hands on experience to class room learning in the second year.
Changing agencies was allowed but that felt a bit too much like running away. And he wasn’t about to risk not finding one and having to stay home the full summer break
Stomping up to his room, he tossed his bag and immediately crawled into bed, pulling the blankets around him like a over sized cocoon.
Fuck this. Fuck the extras. And fuck Endeavour.
His burns pulled uncomfortably but he chose to ignore it as he rolled over and closed his eyes, He would show that fucker.
