“Allison, I can’t believe you actually changed schools over a break up!”, AJ complained as Allison sat next to her against the wall with her legs held up to her chest.
“I can’t stand to be in the same school as Sugawara anymore! It’s so awkward!”, Allison whined. “One time I was going to the bathroom and then all of a sudden I bumped into him around the corner and almost peed my pants! I’m not mad at him or anything but I just couldn’t take the pressure!” Allison complained, resting her head down on her knees. AJ let out a loud sigh and she slid down the wall next to the girl extending her feet out on the hallway floor.
“You know, I understand how you feel and all but you had responsibilities there! You were Karasuno’s manager for Pete's sake. Also don’t forget the most important thing! You left your little brother there!” AJ scolded and Allison twitched.
“I know…”, Allison said. AJ looked back over to the girl and let out another sigh before patting her back.
“What’s done is done, you’re here now, so let’s make the most of it!” AJ cheered, trying to lift the girl’s spirits. Allison lifted her head up and wiped her nose.
“Ya, alright”, Allison said with a monotone voice. AJ’s eyebrow lowered as she grabbed Allison’s face, suddenly making her flinch.
“Do you want to be a manager at Nekoma with me instead?” AJ announced and Allison's eyes widened before she let out a laugh, lowering the girl's hands from her face.
“Maybe! If they let me that is”, Allison said shyly.
“Of course they are going to take you in! My brother and those boys need all the help they can get!”, AJ laughed as she stood up dusting off her gray jeans. Allison hoisted herself with her right hand and dusted the back of her knee length skirt with a giggle.
“Nekoma’s floors sure are dirty”, Allison laughed.
“Tell me about it!”, AJ laughed as they walked out of the empty hallway to the volleyball room. It was already after school hours and everyone was gone except for sport teams. Nekoma’s hallways were empty and eerie which made Allison shudder, it was so different from Karasuno. “Don’t tell me you’re scared are you?” AJ teased and Allison stood up straight.
“Hey!! No I’m not!!”, Allison whined.
“Ya sure”, AJ smirked and Allison performed an overly dramatic offended face.
“How dare you!” Allison cried and AJ just laughed.
“Don’t worry, you’ll get used to it. Aren’t all school’s scary for the first time?” , AJ said putting her hands into the pockets of her dark blue hoodie. “How was your first day? I haven’t been able to see you for most of the day”, AJ said looking over to the brunette.
Allison gripped the side of her skirt as she let out a little squeal in response and AJ looked confused, “I got lost in the hallway for my second class so I asked someone for directions, and when they turned around they were actually…”, Allison started, as she motioned for AJ to lean closer. AJ rolled her eyes and she got close to the girl who already had a faint blush on her cheek. AJ could probably already guess what she was going to say.
“He was kinda hot”, Allison whispered and AJ let out a laugh and Allison pouted.
“Heyyyy it’s not funny! If it was you, you probably would have done the same thing right?”, Allison said as AJ gave her a smirk.
“No I wouldn’t because I am not a simp like you are, I don't fall for a guy at first glance. Let me guess, he only said like 5 words to you right?” Allison smirked over her shoulder and she looked at the girl’s red cheeks as she bit her lips from embarrassment.
“6 words actually”, Allison mumbled and AJ broke out into a laughing fit. Allison playfully hit the girls jacket in embarrassment. Suddenly a figure stood in front of them and Allison suddenly dropped her arms back down and AJ groaned.
“Hey sis, how is your little play-date with simp queen over here? '', the boy said. He was tall and had a rooster-like black hairdo with a volleyball outfit on and an annoying smirk that would easily match his sister’s. Allison gasped in annoyance as she whipped her head to her snickering friend.
“You told him didn’t you!!” Allison cried, pulling on the girl's outfit in a pitiful way.
“Allison, Kuroo has known you as long as I have, which is around two years, he would know you are a simp by now!”, AJ giggled.
“Nooooo!” Allison cried as she dramatically fell to the floor. AJ just rolled her eyes with a smile, pulling up the girl as Kuroo watched in amusement.
“You're planning on being our new manager with little AJ right?” Kuroo asked the ocean eyed girl as she got up.
“Ya I suppose”, Allison murmured as she hid behind AJ and Kuroo just smirked as they walked with him to the gym.
“I had to come find you two because you’re late! You said you would be here around 20 minutes ago, AJ”, Kuroo complained.
“Well, I had to deal with this crisis”, AJ said pointing to the girl behind her.
“We're already late, so let's just hurry up”, Kuroo shrugged and he turned his head back around. As they were walking to the gym, Allison purposely walked slow so that they would have some distance from AJ’s brother before she pulled her friend closer and she whispered to her,
“Did I ever tell you that your brother is kinda intimidating?” Allison whispered to AJ as she held in a laugh.
“You say that about every volleyball member on my team…. or so I should say our team”, AJ smiled.
“Hey, w-wait! I never said for sure that I would join!” Allison said.
“Oh I know that, but knowing you, I’m positive you will join anyway”, AJ said pointing her finger accusingly.
“Ah-”, Allison started as she put up a finger in defense before she soon drooped down in defeat. AJ giggled and Allison just grumbled next to her as Kuroo held a smile in front of the girls. Soon they reached the door of the volleyball gym and Allison felt a lump in her stomach. She always had a hard time talking to new people, especially guys. It didn’t help that she was joining as a manager for a boy’s volleyball team. Kuroo opened the door in front of them and Allison felt herself shiver a little while AJ just put her hands back in her pockets with a small smile. Kuroo and AJ started to walk in front as Allison stood frozen in place. Soon AJ walked back to her and whispered in her ear.
“If you do this with me I will buy you a cupcake at the lunch line”, AJ said to which Allison’s head perked up. AJ laughed at Allison’s behavior, she knew how addicted Allison was to sugar and used this to her advantage.
“F-fine”, Allison said as she followed close behind the noirette. Allison tried to hide behind AJ but it didn’t help when AJ was shorter than her and her eyes peeked out from on top of her hair.
“Dang it! Sometimes being tall sucks! If I was in a horror movie and had to hide I would have to depend on my running skills more than my hiding!” Allison thought.
“Alright everyone, huddle up!” Kuroo called as he caught the team's attention as they gathered around the captain.
“So I want to introduce our new second manager, Allison!” Kuroo said as he pointed to Allison’s embarrassed, blushing face. Allison tried to sneak her way out and she took a few steps back, but AJ quickly put a hand behind her, blocking her escape plan.
“Dang it! She knows me too well!” Allison mentally cried.
“Welcome to the team!”, One of the boys said with a grin as Allison’s face turned pink.
“Ahh-h nice to meet you all!” Allison said waving her arms mentally cursing herself for being for awkward. AJ looked over to the girl and slapped her forehead. Typical Allison.
“It’s really not that big of a deal! It’s just a club, she doesn’t need to freak out this much!”, AJ thought as she almost cringed. Allison sneaked her a glare and thought she knew exactly what AJ was thinking.
“Well this is great! We could always use the extra help” Lev said with a big smile. Allison looked over to AJ determined not to embarrass her anymore and gave a nod to the tall boy with a small smile.
“Alright well now that that’s over, let's practice”, Kuroo said as he clapped his hands together. Soon after everyone moved to their spots and AJ and Allison went to go sit on the bleachers.
“That wasn’t too bad now, was it!”, AJ said with a smile as Allison put her hands to her cheeks as she tried not to squeal.
“That was utter torture!”, Allison said over dramatically as AJ rolled her eyes with a groan.
“You really got to get your act together girl! You need to talk to people more if you ever want a new boyfriend right?”, AJ said.
“Yaaa”, Allison groaned, removing her hands from her face.
“It’s quite easy to tell if someone wants to talk to you. Read their expressions and their body language. Are they turning away from you? Are they smiling? Are they far away or trying to get close?”, AJ said as Allison’s head perked up.
“I don’t know how you know stuff like this,” Allison stated.
“I learned from someone else”, AJ said with a small blush spreading across her freckled face. Allison arched her eyebrows with a smirk as she leaned closer to her friend.
“Oh hey is that Kenma?” Allison asked and AJ’s head perked straight up as Allison started to giggle. Suddenly AJ’s eyebrows furrowed and she stared at her giggling partner.
“Why are you giggling like that?” AJ questioned, folding her arms as she glared.
“You think I don’t notice those pictures of Kenma all over your camera roll?” Allison laughed. AJ turned red and picked up a nearby volleyball and slammed it on the girl's shoulder.
“Owww”, Allison whined as she rubbed her shoulder and AJ smiled sinisterly.

“Alright! Huddle up!” Kuroo's loud voice rang as everyone gathered near the captain. “You guys did great today! So we have a practice game with Aoba Johsai tomorrow at our gym so make sure to come early, alright!” Kuroo said as they replied with a yes as they all dispersed and started to pack up.
“Are you excited for your first game with Nekoma?” AJ asked as she slumped her bag over her shoulder and Allison shrugged her shoulders.
“I mean, I have been to many with my brother’s team. I’m just glad that we don’t have a game with them tomorrow! We have a game with… whatever they are called tomorrow”, Allison said.
AJ let out a laugh as she said, “I heard their team is annoying so let's see if you still think that tomorrow!”
