Work Text:

The sun shone through the kitchen window as Mitsuya dried the dishes from that morning’s breakfast. A regular Sunday morning act though there was one less plate then usual, his husband having to miss sitting down to eat as he slept in. Not wanting his husband to be late for church, Mitsuya packed his breakfast for him and sent him on his way, resulting in him eating alone at the dinning table.

A loud shrill ring tone woke Mitsuya up from his autopilot daze. Rushing over to put the cutlery away in the draw, he slid his phone out of his pyjama pocket, clicking the green icon.

“Good morning”

“Morning Taka” Draken’s smooth voice came through the phone. “How are you?”

“I’m doing okay. Taiju’s been so busy lately with work he slept in and was almost late leaving for Church so we couldn’t eat together. A shame. He also didn’t have time to feed his fish so I had to do that this morning. What about you?”

“I’m doing good. You have any lunch plans today?”

“Not at the moment, why?”

“I need someone to take out as a plus one…and considering who we’d be eating with…well it just knocks two birds with one stone you know?”

“No, I don’t know your so called agenda but yeah I’m free to come. Who we eating with?” Mitsuya was met with a few beats of silence “Ken…who are we eating with?”

“…Inupi…and Kokonoi-san”

“…You’re kidding me right now, why do you keep making ploys for Inupi-san and I to sit down…and don’t even get my started on why we’re eating with a BONTEN EXECUTIVE MOST LIKELY IN A PUBLIC RESTAURANT!”

“Look, that wasn’t the intention at first. At first it was just those two going out and then Inupi felt awkward about it so he invited me and then I felt awkward about it so I’m inviting you…”

Mitsuya took the phone away from his ear and let out a long, heavy sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose. Bringing the phone back to his ear, he answered, “Fine. I’ll come. The food better be worth it Ryuguji. Text me the details.” He hung up before Draken could even finish his “thank you”. Pocketing his phone, he picked up the tea towel and cleaned up the water residue. Folding and placing the the towel on the hanger, Mitsuya made his way upstairs to get ready.

~~

It had been a while since Mitsuya walked down the streets of Shibuya, even more so taken public transport but the restaurant was a couple minute walk from Shibuya station so he opted out of driving over. Plus, if he was going to drive his motorbike he would have had to change his outfit and that just wasn’t going to happen. The walk gave him time to process the outing and the problems that would be faced, notable the Bonten executive. Though he didn’t want to be hypocritical, he also interacted with certain Bonten executives on the regular but at least he did it in private…not during peak lunch hour on a Sunday in a public restaurant outside of Shibuya station. Though Mitsuya loved Draken, the man could be a dumbass however Mitsuya did agree…so they’re both dumbasses in their own right.

He quickly found himself outside the restaurant. He paused, taking a few deep breaths in before opening the door and was approached quickly by a waitress, she bowed, he bowed. “Welcome, please come in. How many for table?” Looking around the establishment for a known face with a known dragon tattoo, he dragged his eyes back to the waitress. “Just myself but I’m dinning with some…a friend and two acquaintances. They’re already here apparently…one of them has a dragon tattoo on the side of his head…very tall.” He trailed off as the lady looked around the place before something caught her eye, most likely Draken. “Yes! They’re here, let me just take you over.” And with that he was herded over to the table.

There the three sat by a window, Inupi and Kokonoi on the right and Draken on the left. Mitsuya was thanking god in that moment that Draken’s side had the spare seat. Him and the waitress stopped at the table, he thanked her and she scuttled off. Kokonoi was the first one to notice him, sizing him up and so Mitsuya did the same back. Just past shoulder length white hair, shaved side. A long silver chain earring, loose iced out chain choker and a red button down tunic. His eyes rested on the Bonten tattoo a bit longer then necessary but neither men would bring it up. Koko did the same back to Mitsuya, looking him up and down. Lilac mullet, cross earring, fuzzy purple jumper, black leather gloves, black Versace hand-bag, black hakama pants and black military esc boots. Their staring match was interrupted by Draken.

“Taka! You made it.” He smiled softly, patting the seat next to him. Mitsuya ripped his eyes away from Kokonoi to Draken and took the seat next to him. Inupi had yet to take notice of Mitsuya’s presence, still staring out the window. The table sat in silence for a while, Kokonoi taking out his phone and Draken picking up the menu, Mitsuya followed in suit. “So” Draken piped up “should we order then do introductions or other way around?”

“Food first, talk later.” Inupi voiced from the corner he shoved himself in. With that Draken raised his hand and soon enough a waitress was over to take their orders.

“How are we paying for today’s meal?” Kokonoi voiced, Mitsuya rolled his eyes at that and cut Draken’s idea off at splitting it. “I’ll pay.” The others nodded in agreement.

“So…Ken…introductions.” Mitsuya cut through the silence. “Right yes, Koko-san, this is Mitsuya Takashi. Taka this is Kokonoi Hajime.” The two head bowed from their seats, not making eye contact.

“Awe do I not get an introduction.” Inupi grumbled, fidgeting in his seat. The table laughed at that, the tension easing a little. “I gotta ask Ken. How do both you and Inupi-san have the day off?” “Well-“.

That conversation topic flowed nicely on but it ended soon enough and the table settled back into silence. Mitsuya choose to stay relatively quite and Draken busied himself with his phone as Inupi and Koko flirted, tremendously bad. It was like a wikihow ‘How to flirt’ post. “Is it hot in here?” proceeds to pull up sleeves. “I like what you’ve done with your hair” proceeds to play with it. Blushing when they glanced at each other, drawing on the others skin. The two lovebirds stuck at the highschool romance setting were interrupted as the sake arrived. That gave each of them something to occupy their time with rather then filling the natural silence…which didn’t last long.

“Kokonoi-san, you keep glaring at me. You’ve got something to say?” Mitsuya spoke, levelling his stare at the white head. The other appeared to roll his eyes and settle his cup down. “Not really. I am just surprised the great upcoming designer Mitsuya Takashi is so gullible to buy fake Versace. You do not have the money at your age and with your career to buy an actual Versace bag, who are you fooling?” There was no laugh delivered with that. Mitsuya scoffed, lifting his hang-bag, placing it on the table. The bag was large, taking up a good size of the table. Black grained leather, top handle and black metal chain shoulder strap. Most noticeable the bag was adorned by a Medusa plaque at the front.

“I promise you it’s real, Kokonoi-san” Mitsuya smiled, “But I guess it’s hard to tell past the hair hanging in your face. Who cuts it? You?” Was Mitsuya taking one of Inupi compliments and using it as shade? Perhaps. Did he do that on purpose to hurt both of them? Maybe. It seemed to work too as Inupi’s face turned into a scowl.

Koko flicked his hair over his shoulder and then brought his hands together, flexing his fingers and folding his hands together onto the table. “How much did you pay for it then? $2000?” “More than I’d pay for your life.” Koko saw red at that, slowly standing from his chair, Mitsuya following suit. Abruptly, Koko’s hands shot out from being placed on the table, grabbing onto Mitsuya’s jumper and yanking him forward. Both Draken and Inupi leaped up, yelling as hands flew. Draken grabbed Mitsuya by the waist, hauling him off the ground while Inupi hugged Koko from behind, locking his arms down to sides.

“Koko! You said you’d behave!” Inupi angrily whisper yelled. “This bitch couldn’t keep his mouth shut, now let me go. I am not going to do anything.” Koko said through heavy breaths, trying to get out of Inupi’s hold. “Oh please. You brought this conversation up and you put hands on me first” Mitsuya hissed, letting himself be plopped onto his chair, “over a fucking bag too. You’re pathetic.”

“Okay okay that’s enough. Can we act civil before we’re kicked out? Inupi, let Koko-san go.” Draken directed but the sound was muffled by his hands on his face. Reluctantly, Inupi let go of Koko and the two sat down, Koko picking up his sake cup and looked off into the distance away from the table. Inupi sighed heavily, taking a swing of his sake, and then mumbling to himself which only contributed to noise of mixed chattering around them.

The silence seemed to stretch on forever until Inupi unexpectedly piped up. “Violence huh?” Draken chuckled at that, Mitsuya hiding a smile behind his gloved hand. Inupi turned to Koko and grinned cheekily, “Koko, have I ever told you about the time I bitch slapped Mikey?” “What!” Draken and Mitsuya spoke in unison, Draken spitting out his sake. Flustered, Koko turned to face Inupi, “I- no- what happened?” “Well basically- OUR FOODS HERE!” Four bowls of different curries were placed on the table, the two waitress bowed and walked away, leaving the group to dig in.

Draken placed his phone onto the table, picking up his spoon. He looked around the table to do a quick head check that everyone was still cool when he noticed Mitsuya’s hands. “Hey Taka, your gloves are still on.” Looking down, Mitsuya noticed the fact and red spread across his cheeks. “Oops, forgot about those. It’s been so cold lately.” He explained, taking off his gloves and placing them in his bag as the others dug into their meals. Below the table, he fixed his rings on hands, 3 on his left, 4 on his right. There was a clattering sound as his hand picked up his own spoon which caused the two in front to glance over at him but nothing more.

The four continued their meal in relative silence until finish. Shoving his bowl forward, Inupi slid down his seat, sighing. “That was fucking good. Nice choice Draken.” The complimented smiled in response, lazily kicking the older’s feet under the table “sit up dumbass, we’re in public.” Inupi’s whined loudly but did so anyway, then immediately laid down on the table. That got a chuckle out of Koko which was only noticeable by his shaking shoulders as he covered it by faking to take sip of sake.

With the new angle, Inupi focussed on Mitsuya’s hands as they were right there and shiny. He reached out and grabbed his left, pulling it over to inspect, “Oi, what do you think you’re doing Inupi-san” Mitsuya voiced, which Inupi waved him off as he looked at his rings, Koko joining in but with the other hand. “You’ve got some cool rings. Specifically the two on your ring finger. ” Inupi pointed out, twisting the half diamond twist rope ring. “Those two look expensive. Real diamonds?” Koko questioned, Mitsuya slowly cocking his head to the side, lifting a lilac eyebrow.
“Actually” Draken piped up, “those two are his engagement and wedding rings.”

Two heads in sync turned to look at Draken, then to Mitsuya, then to the rings. Koko sat there in silence while blinking, but Inupi bursted with questions and statements, “Did your wife propose?!” “When did you get married?! Draken would have definitely said something”, “You’re so young…”, “What was the wedding like? Western? You and these rings strike me that it was”. Mitsuya in return bursted out laughing, taking his hands away to cover his mouth as Draken tried to calm Inupi down.

Shaking his head Mitsuya, wiped his own tears before answering, “I don’t have a wife, I have a husband and I’ve been married for almost 3 years. Our anniversary is in December.” Inupi’s jaw almost seemed to hit the table with the way it opened. He quickly recovered and started counting on his hands before aggressively turning back “You got married at…21?!” Which Mitsuya nodded. “Yeah…” Draken awkwardly chuckled, “I kinda lied when introducing Taka. He is actually Shiba Takashi.” You could hear teeth click as Inupi’s mouth closed, Mitsuya just scratched his neck, looking off to the side.

Koko licked his teeth, nodding to himself, “So that puppy that always followed you around, what’s his name…Hakkai. Did he grow some balls and ask you out? The devotion was very obvious.” Koko spat, like venom, glaring at those expensive, most likely real diamond rings that sat prettily; matching well with the lilac’s pretty manicured French tip nails.

Mitsuya seemed taken back by that as he frowned, looking over at Draken, making harsh blinks. Draken just shrugged, licking his spoon, forcefully not making eye contact. “Actually, Kokonoi-san, I’m not married to Hakkai…I am married to Taiju…Shiba Taiju.” Koko’s eyes narrowed darkly at that but his reaction was overshadowed by his partners. “What the fuck…you’re married to Shiba Taiju? Straight Christian Uncontrollably Violent Ex Black Dragon Captain Taiju?!” Inupi exclaimed, shooting to his feet, chair scraping across the floor.

Mitsuya just calmly reached over and patted the table in front on Inupi, beckoning him to sit down…which he did. “Yes I am married to that Shiba Taiju”. Inupi’s eyebrows sky rocketed before bursting out in laughter, throwing his limbs over Koko. “Oh my god that’s so funny. Holy shit. He married a man…he married a man, Koko, oh my god I could never have imagined. Please Mitsuya-san, you have to tell me everything.” Mitsuya paused for a moment, fiddling with his rings before speaking. As he talked, Koko made faces and scoffing sounds before pulling out his phone and excusing himself to take a phonecall. Draken on the other hand watched his best friend with a soft smile. “I hope you know Inupi, he’s so happy you’ve asked. This man can never not gush about his husband.” “Oi shut up” Mitsuya playfully whacked him “Anyway so yeah, now he owns a luxury restaurant and bar and has done for the last 2 plus years. It’s in Minato and over looks the water. The place is his pride and joy, his favourite feature being the huge shark tank. It was such a painful process for him and the workers but it looks amazing~.”

Koko walked back on over, sliding his phone into his black dress pants. “Inupi, you ready to go?” Inupi ‘hmmed’, standing and patting himself down, the other two still sitting followed. A waitress seemed to notice the movement and walked over which Mitsuya handled. Koko nodded at Draken and curled an arm around Inupi’s waist, motioning him to to start walking.

“Why you in a rush?”
“Do you really want to take the chance of accidentally bumping into Taiju?”
“Well…no”
“and speak of the devil” a voice said behind them, Draken’s hand coming into view, pointing at the the current person of topic entering the small Kare Raisu restaurant.

At the door stood a monster of a man, Shiba Taiju, who had seemed to be a couple centimetres taller then they last saw him. He no longer had the long mane of different blue strands, it was cut short and slicked back. He still had those thin black arched eye brows and piercing yellow snake eyes. He wore a black button down dress shirt and pants, his tattoos and cross chain visible on his chest. On his shoulders hung a black and purple paisley blazer. His facial expression could only be described as ‘bored’.

They noticed him and he noticed them but both groups didn’t make any sign of moving, they just stared at each other, letting customers walk by them. This tension was broken by Mitsuya’s voice, “Taiju dear!”, he rushed past the trio over to his husband. He instantly grabbed ahold of the man’s arm, looking up at him with a smile. “How was church?” Taiju seemed to grumble at that and Mitsuya’s shoulders shook lightly as he giggled. He turned back to the trio, pointing to the door, “I’ve paid, we should go so we’re not blocking other customers.” And with that, they all made their way out and onto the streets of Shibuya.

Before Koko and Inupi could slip away, they both felt a tap on their shoulders. Turning around, there stood the so called husband and their ex captain, behind him Mitsuya was waving off Draken. Inupi subtly flipped him off, fucking ditcher, he just loved to see Inupi suffer. His attention was brought back to Taiju as he cleared his throat, “It has been a while, Inupi, Koko, how have you two been?” His voice was deeper but it still had that roughness to it, though he was articulating himself well. “I’ve been well, how about you?” “Fine, there is no need for this small talk”, their answers overlapped into just sound. Again, the three just stood their silently before Mitsuya wiggled his way next to Taiju.

“Well we better get going”
“Yeah, you wanted to go fabric shopping didn’t you?”
“Oh shit, I almost forgot about that, thank you dear” Taiju seemed to bristle at that, as Mitsuya tip toed to give the man a kiss on the cheek. The other two cringed at that.
“See you most likely at the shop then Inupi-san” Mitsuya bowed, which Inupi bowed back.
“Kokonoi-san.” “Shiba-san.”

With that, Mitsuya looked up at Taiju and held his left hand out which his husband took and totally engulfed. Bowing to his ex gang members, Taiju led his husband away. Then there were just the two of them standing outside the restaurant, one of them looking at the other with butterflies…and the other staring at the other couple with a heaviness in his heart and stomach.
