Work Text:
Sunoo loved Jungwon, there was no doubt about it. And Jungwon loved Sunoo. At least, that’s what he had thought.
That’s what he had thought until he found out that his boyfriend was out most nights fucking another boy.
His reaction when he found out? Denial, anger, and confusion. It all swirled into one huge, ugly emotion that left a lump in his throat he couldn’t swallow.
Jungwon would never do that to him. His Jungwon would never. They had made a promise. They had made a promise that no matter what the situation was, they’d always have one another and be there for each other.
He lied. Yang Jungwon had lied, straight to his face, and Sunoo had been dumb enough to believe it.
Yet he kept on that smiling face. He kept his smile around his supposed boyfriend, he kept up his energy, and he kept up the act that everything was fine. But it wasn’t fine, it never had been. And he knew that. Deep down inside, he knew whatever they had was something fucked up disguised as something so magical, so wonderful.
Or maybe all of it truly was a masterpiece until he decided to tear it all up.
Sighing, the boy lifted his head to the knock at the door, knowing who it was already.
“Hey, Sunshine, I’m back~” Jungwon sang happily, twirling into the room and onto his boyfriend’s lap.
“Hey, Wonnie,” the elder answered, trying to match his mood. The other’s smile fluttered a bit, but he decided to ignore it.
“I had to stay back after school to help with some council stuff, since prom is coming up, you know?” he continued, an arm around Sunoo.
Liar .
“Oh, I see,” the boy told him simply, nodding as he tried to return Jungwon’s affection.
He kissed the younger’s forehead, stroking his hair. Oh, what a great goddamn liar Yang Jungwon was for Sunoo to believe him all those months.
“Anyway, how was your day, Sunoo Hyung?”
“It was…It was great! I, uh, had a fun time today…yeah,” he mumbled, losing every bit of his energy all at once. All the effort he had put into letting Jungwon go on with his little affair was draining him, physically and mentally. He couldn’t keep pretending anymore, he had to confront him.
“Mhm…that’s nice,” Jungwon hummed, the other knowing he obviously didn’t buy it but didn’t care enough to ask. The conversation died out then, until the younger pushed Sunoo on the bed, climbing on top of him.
“You know, Hyung…I’ve missed us,” the black-haired whispered, tracing shapes on Sunoo’s chest.
The blonde forced a smile, looking up at his boyfriend as he locked his arms around his neck. “Yeah? Well, show me then, Baby.”

He knew this had all been going on for too long the second Jungwon’s excuses kept repeating themselves. It was as if the younger knew that Sunoo found out and was just teasing him. And he had had enough.
The boy knew what he was doing was reckless, stupid even. He couldn't just walk into some guy's house he barely knew and confront the two of them...yet that's what he was about to do as he got into his car and started the engine.
Sunoo wasn't that gullible. He had done his research on the male Jungwon was cheating on him with. His name was Park Sunghoon, and he was extremely handsome, top of his class, and older than both of them. Ah, so his boyfriend had a type.
He put the key in the ignition and backed out of the driveway, typing Sunghoon's address into his phone and turning on the directions. It was the middle of the night, they had school tomorrow, and he was exhausted as hell , but he still made it his top priority to catch the two of them in the act.
Sunghoon lived relatively close to them, only about five blocks or so away. The blonde kept thinking of things to say or do when he caught them, and what they would say back. He couldn't help the tears rolling down his face slowly, one by one, as he thought about it, though.
He had known it would be stupid to get into a relationship during his middle years of high school. He had known it would interfere with everything he had planned out for his life. But Jungwon...Jungwon had somehow slipped between the cracks into Sunoo's heart, and he thought that he could be an exception. He had clearly thought wrong.
Almost there...he was almost there. He was so close to the truth, to finally catch his boyfriend actively cheating on him.
The directions announced that he had arrived, so the boy pulled into the dimly lit parking space in order to find Sunghoon's apartment number. Stepping out of the car, he climbed up several flights of stairs, stopping on the fourth floor and jogging to the end of the row.
The blinds were half-open, revealing the lights on inside and the TV left on as well. Sunoo realized he would have to knock to go inside, which ruined his whole master plan. Unless...
He tried opening the door which, to his surprise, opened. How stupid could they possibly be?
Sunoo shrugged it off and stepped inside, hit with the smell of fried chicken from his and Jungwon's favorite place. The blonde scoffed, noticing the wine glasses left on the table. Besides that, the place was fairly clean. He noticed a few pictures on the shelves, all of them including Sunghoon and a few with some other boy. His boyfriend? Sunoo hoped not, that would make both of them bad people. That was except if Sunghoon already knew about him.
Taking a deep breath, he tip-toed over carefully to where voices could be heard giggling. He recognized the cute little laugh as Jungwon's immediately, and Sunoo knew that he had come to the right place.
Without further hesitation, he slammed the door open. His eyes met two pairs of confused and flustered ones.
"H-Hyung?" Jungwon whispered, unwrapping himself from the other boy and hopping off the bed. "What are you doing here?"
"...You know him?" the second boy, Sunghoon, questioned, standing up from the bed as well.
So he didn't know about him. "Yeah he does, I was his boyfriend."
He watched the way Sunghoon's eyes widened, turning swiftly to look at Jungwon. "You never told me about him! What on earth have we been doing while you had a boyfriend?! You lied to me-"
"That makes two of us," Sunoo muttered, shutting the taller up.
"Listen, Hyung, I can explain! It's not what it looks like-"
"It's exactly what it looks like! Shut up, Jungwon!" the blonde yelled, silencing him. He glared at the younger who was slowly making his way over to him.
"No, it's not. I swear, I-"
Sunoo couldn't take it anymore as he raised his hand and slapped his boyfriend across the face, rougher than he intended to.
The sound echoed throughout the silent room, the tension getting heavier. The blonde watched his boyfriend place a hand on his cheek in disbelief, eyes beginning to water. Sunoo never thought that he would ever lift a hand, so much as a finger, to his beloved. Yet he was proven wrong.
“S-Sunshine….”
“Don’t call me that, Yang Jungwon,” Sunoo spat harshly, breathing deeply to resist the urge to slap him again. He knew he had gone out almost every night to fuck around with that Sunghoon boy. What did Jungwon think he was, stupid? And he knew it wasn’t Sunghoon’s fault, either. Jungwon had lied to both of them.
The tears gathering in his eyes slid down his cheeks slowly, covering the ones from earlier as his gaze never left his supposed lover. All those years, all those months, had they meant nothing to him? Was the spark no longer there?
“Sunshi-Sunoo Hyung, please. Please don’t do this-“
“Do what? Leave you? I should’ve done that a long fucking time ago,” he whispered darkly, turning to look at Sunghoon.
“I’m sorry, Sunghoon-ssi.”
“You have nothing to apologize for. I’m the one who should be saying sorry. I hope you figure things out, I’ll be on my way,” the elder answered, grabbing his shirt from the bed and exiting the room, shutting the door quietly.
Sunoo whipped around to his boyfriend’s still frame, almost laughing at how pathetic the whole situation was. “What? Did you think I wouldn’t have found out? I’ve known for weeks now, Jungwon, weeks . It was my mistake for not saying anything sooner.”
“Listen, I’m sorry, truly, please-“
“You’re sorry? If apologies worked, why would we need the police? Why would we need laws? I don’t want your fucking apology. You’ve done more damage than you realize, and I want to hate you for it. I really, really want to. But I can’t. I love you too much. So please , I’m begging you, get out of my life, Jungwon.”
The younger stood blankly, rendered speechless. Sunoo turned away from him, and not a second later he felt a pair of arms encircled around his waist, a head pressed against his shoulder blade.
“I’m sorry, Hyung. Please, don’t say you’ll leave me. I love you too. Please don’t go. I need you. I need you, Sunshine,” he spoke quietly, sniffling.
And for a split second, Sunoo wanted to forget it all and run back to him. He wanted to engulf him in his arms and tell him it’s okay, it was fine, they’ll pretend it never happened and move along. But he couldn’t. He couldn’t do that to himself and live with the doubt that Jungwon could just as easily do it again if he wanted to. He knew he would.
“The sunset is beautiful, isn’t it?” Sunoo asked after a moment, glancing at the pretty shades covering the sky.
“…I guess it is,” the other answered dumbfoundedly, and all too quickly, Sunoo pulled out of his grasp and left the room, and his love, behind.
“I hate that I still love you, Yang Jungwon.”
