Work Text:
He came into realization that one scorching hot summer, drenched in his white shirt as he laid on his back, facing the sun that mercilessly shone upon the great mother earth: that he loves you. Loves; because even until now, years later after that realization hit him like a truck, he still loves you; the same way he loved you back then, the same way he wished to have his hands up on your thighs and ran his lips around your sweatie neck, the same way he wished to kiss your lips innocently, the very same way he loved the look you gave him whenever you won a sparring with him.
Because even until now, he loves you still. He loves you still it hurts that the fact you are not here by his side hurts more than the gaping wound on his chest. It aches; but not from the excruciating pain of the gushing wound, but from the emptiness you left him with. His chest is literally opened now but he saw you nowhere within his chest he wished to ask Ieiri how you were not there and where you are now. It sounds silly—you would laugh at him for being silly, you would smack him on his back and saying how he spat nonsense.
If only you could do that.
They said they have fixed him up.
They said they have stitched up the wound on his chest and he had passed the critical period. They said he would be fine now but how come he feels like he is throwing inside out? To make it worse, there is a ghostly feelings of hands—of your hands—that soothe his pain. Even though he cannot see yet, he knew—he 𝘬𝘯𝘦𝘸—it is you. It has to be you. He can't take it if it is not you.
But how can it be you, when you have passed away years ago along with his best friend? How can you be present with him when your body had perished so long time ago? How are you so alive when you have no more being on this earth?
After all, after all these years passed along, he loves you still and this feeling will live on forever. Inside his heart, even though now he knows there is nothing but literal organs inside, you will have place between his lungs and beating heart; always. You will live along his beating heart forevermore.
