Beautiful

Summary:

Beautiful life,
Beautiful love,
Beautiful angel by my side.

Notes:

Hiii! I've had this song in my head for days now and felt like writing this would help me finally get over it. 😭 So, since it's Valentine's Day in my country and I suffer everyday from the lack of Dowoo content in here, I decided to post it as well. 🙈 For those who didn't get by the title, this one's inspired on Beautiful by Bazzi. Hope you enjoy it and if you wanna listen to the song before/after/while, I highly recommend it! <3

Work Text:

Lying there, looking so attentively at his (now) husband's sleeping face, Doyoung knows. He knows there's nowhere else he'd rather be.

With a deep and content sigh, he faces the ceiling, hands caressing softly the head rested on his chest. He still can't believe they're married now. And, as if to help him trust the feeling around his left ring finger, his mind starts going through all the beautiful moments they shared.

When they first met, Jungwoo was a senior at his tech school while Doyoung was a junior in college. They accidentally touched hands while reaching out for Mark's phone when he asked someone to toss it to him across the table. They didn't know eachother at the time, but shared the same friendgroup. Since the touch, both were curious about eachother, but still shy enough not to interact too much. After ganging up against Haechan to win a Mario Party match though, their friendship blossomed quickly.

Said friendship that lasted beautiful two years. Secret feelings being held inside for the same amount of time. Untill a truth or dare game that, as silly as it was to play such a game at their age, finally got them together as both wanted: as boyfriends.

Their relationship took them through all the steps of adult life together. Getting their first job interviews, their first jobs, the first taxes to pay and, of course, their first home together. After Jungwoo got an excellent job at Google (and countless complaints from their previous housemates about how loud they were in bed), they decided it was time to leave their previous houses and start building a home of their own. That's why Doyoung found a small but beautiful apartment downtown which, after a lot of renovations and decorations being switched around and put up in different places, they finally made a home of.

After ten years of sharing their lives with eachother, they began to feel like it was about time to take the next step. And it was on Christmas Eve that, after keeping the ring in his underwear drawer for too long, Doyoung decided he couldn't wait any longer as soon as he saw the only man in his heart cooking their Christmas meal. And, although he said he 'didn't want to compete with Jesus' birth or anything', he couldn't hold himself back because he knew he wanted that for the rest of his life. Chirstmases together, New Year's together, birthdays together, all of it.

And now Doyoung had it. He had the love of his life by his side, vowed to be his until death does them apart. And vowed to take him as his as well, until death does them apart.

Doyoung thinks back to the suit his husband was wearing the night before. He couldn't possibly think of a more beautiful view.

"Watcha thinking of, love?", Doyoung realizes he had been daydreaming for too long when he hears his husband's sleepy voice pulling him back to the present.  "You look as if Taeyon has just announced a new album."

"Taeyon's music wishes I'd be thinking so fondly of it that it got me daydreaming", Doyoung replies after a soft chuckle. "I was thinking 'bout you", he adds, looking down into his husband's round eyes.

"Now you're a true romantic, aren't you?", Jungwoo mocks, but hides his face in Doyoung's chest, a gesture the latter knows is out of embarrassment. "What were you thinking about me, though?", he questions, now laying his head sideways on Doyoung, facing their window and making small circles on Doyoung's arm.

"About how beautiful you looked yesterday. That Gucci suit is amazing you", Doyoung breathed out softly, as a confession. And Jungwoo knew it was one because he didn't hear that the night before.

"You didn't say that yesterday, though...", the younger mocked him, softly poking at his sides and pouting exaggeratedly.

"I was so nervous yesterday...", Doyoung lets out an embarassed chuckle. "I didn't even get to say how amazing you looked. What kind of husband am I, after all?", Doyoung sighs exhasperatedly, genuinely disappointed in his past self.

"Don't say that, love. I saw it in your eyes, you didn't need to say a word", Jungwoo says softly, understanding that his husband was probably second guessing his actions and already thinking the worst of himself.

Jungwoo caresses Doyoung's cheek tenderly, looking him in the eye to make sure he would feel at ease again. And he does, exhaling heavily under his husband's body and thinking of how lucky he was, of how there was no one else he'd rather be under.

"I remember clearly what you did say, though...",  Jungwoo starts again, a smirk growing on his face and a mischievous glint to his eyes.

"What was it?", Doyoung asked, feigning innocence when he knew exactly what his husband was talking about.

"You said I looked beautiful, yes. But I wasn't wearing that Gucci suit anymore", Jungwoo answers, propping himself up on his elbows to take a better look at his husband's face. "And I guess you called me a few other things as well...",  He adds jokingly, knowing that light pink shade was sure to come to his husband's cheeks after doing so.

"Well...",  Doyoung moves past his embarrassment and gives Jungwoo a little scare by shifting their positions quickly, now being over his husband, body propped up on his elbows just enough to see the other's face properly. "I guess I was right, then. After all...", he gingerly brushes their lips against eachother before pulling back once again. "You did look amazing on that Gucci suit. But nothing can compare to when you're like this", he explains, eyes almost fluttering shut to go in for a kiss when he's stopped midway by a small squeeze on his waist.

"And what do I look like when I'm like this?",  Jungwoo asks, almost in a trance.

"You look beautiful",  Doyoung breathed out. "Like an angel."

With that, Jungwoo didn't have it in him to deny Doyoung and himself what they both wanted anymore. He snaked his arms around his husband's waist and pulled him in for a heated kiss.

Jungwoo loved him. And he loved him back. There were no rights or wrongs and Doyoung was happy that, whenever doubt took over him, his beautiful angel would always remind him of that.
