Work Text:

The Warden has a deadpan look on her wall. Her brain's too occupied to show any expression.

How did it come to this?

When did it start?

Crumpled papers on the floor, disorganized shelves, messy bed, and coffee stains on the desk. This is not her. She is not miserable. But,

Why?

Why do your eyes sparkle every time I lay mine on them? Sometimes they squint so much when you laugh, my heart hops 3 times.

Why does your mouth spout nonsense? Yet, come to think of it, what you're saying makes the most sense out of everything.

Why does your hair smells like a dainty daisy resting its head on a rained-on window pane? The intoxicating scent has been filling my system.

Why do you laugh so hard? You laugh harder than me, yet I'm the one who's out of breath.

Why do you skip when we walk side-by-side? You might trip. But maybe I'm the one who should've been careful, since I'm the one who fell.

Why do you call my name that way? I always end up calling every god for help, praying I wouldn't die at this moment so I get to hear it over and over.

"God, maybe I am miserable." Kronii murmurs.

*Knock knock knock*

"Shit.."

The door opens, revealing a brown head with two feathers.

"Oh hey, Mumei. What brings you here?"

"I'm done with civilization duties," she walks in. "Thought maybe I should- woah"

"I know, my place is a mess." Kronii rubs her palms on her face.

"What are these?" Mumei breezes through the sticky notes on the wall.

Kronii's heart jumps at the sudden realization.

"UH, can you.. help me..?" She can't see those.

"Oh, sure! What do you need help for?"

"My heart is.. uhm.. lonely.." Kronii whispers.

The Guardian bursts into laughter. "Aw, you poor thing." She removes the space between them.

"Kronii… don't worry. I'm here."

"Okay," the Warden laughs this time. "Thank you."

You're not helping me.

But I'll fall helplessly for you.
