Fiery screams filled up the silence of the forest. Birds flew into the sky and squirrels ran to find a safer spot far away from the raging hatred that ruined the surroundings. Deers shrieked as they jumped longer and longer in fear they'd be the next who'd get ripped apart. The foxes hid in their holes under the trees' roots, hoping to avoid the heavy steps that broke even the stones.
She was raging. The frustration that filled her chest made her partly turn into her true form. Her right hand was no longer a human's hand - it was black with twisted long and sharp claws that could cut even bones into pieces. She bared her fangs, ready to rip any life that comes across her.
She ran around in circles, scratching at the trees and screaming on the top of her lungs. Her voice was like a wild animal's, sending shivers down to anyone's spine who heard it. It was deadly and warning.
Her mind was full with just one thought. She just wanted to go home for once! Back to the black and silver star where she came from, where she belonged to, leaving back the human world and shrugging off this disguise of a human's body. To be herself once again.
Herself.
What did that mean actually?
Who was she now?
Who?!
She felt like during the decades she'd spent on Jorvik she'd started to lose herself. Just like Jessica. She noticed she was struggling as well and that just lifted her anger even more. She didn't want to see her that way. She wanted Jessica to be like she'd always used to before.
So far their attempts weren't successful or brought just the smallest success. The Soul Riders had always fought them back, even sent them back to the spaceship digged near Jorvik undersea in the deep ocean. It caused them lose their magical powers so many times it was almost ridiculous. She wanted them to get out of her way once and for all so they could just finally get back home. She didn't care about anything else. Why would she? As if anyone cared about her. It'd been always like that since she was first born hundreds of years ago. As if the Soul Riders knew what she had to go through. As if anyone could imagine the sorrow what made her turn into the demon she was now.
As if -
She stopped midway of hitting and ripping a tree. She noticed something on her terrifying claws. It was small, fragile and painted with the colors of blue, yellow and white. It was a little butterfly sitting on her hand, facing her as if it'd ask hey, what are you doing? She stared at it in confusion.
"Hey, just go!" she growled at the little creature with a voice coming deep from her throat. The butterfly just moved an antennae as if waving at her.
"Leave now!" she yelled on the top of her lungs. Her eyes were like flaming ambers. She wanted to keep going, she wanted to destroy the place, the whole island, she wanted to make it sink deep into the sea and disappear for forever with all of its creatures. She wanted to get rid of the place that chained her there.
But with the little butterfly sitting on her claws, she was just unable to move. It was so brave. Sitting there right on a deadly beast's finger and facing her with a silent calmness. It didn't even move its wings. It was just resting there, looking at the woman with curiosity.
She stared back at the butterfly. She looked at it until she felt the flames in her chest slowly fading and turned her gaze up only when she felt something wet on her face. It started to rain? She wondered, but there were no rain clouds. Only then she realized it was a tear that made her face wet. After the first drop came the second and third, and soon she found herself sobbing silently, bending over her claws and the butterfly sitting on it. She showered them with the most sour teardrops Jorvik had ever seen. Her shoulders shook as she tried to shrug off all the pain she carried.
She didn't know how long it took until she calmed down. When she stopped crying and looked at the butterfly, she saw her claws had turned back to human fingers and nails. A strong hand that could make ashamed any men on the Earth and the sharpest nails ever. Her hand - is it?
She noticed the butterfly drank up a teardrop that landed on her hand before. She watched it and when the little creature looked back at her, it closed up its wings, showing the other side of them - black with the most beautiful silver markings she'd ever seen.
Black and silver.
Her home.
She felt her eyes getting teary again.
"Am I going to ever go home?" she mumbled to herself. The butterfly moved its wings as if saying yes. She couldn't help but show a bittersweet smile.
"I'm talking to an insect, how insane I am" she mumbled again. The butterfly rested there for a little while longer, then it took off and before it flew away, it sat on her chest for a moment (was that light coming from its legs?!), then it touched her face with its wings softly and turned toward the deep forest. She followed its flight with her eyes until she could see it.
"Such a little thing, and yet how big amount of bravery it carries. I could have killed it with a faint smack" she told to herself then she furrowed. "Why didn't I anyway?".
Of course she knew the answer. But she wouldn't admit it to herself, no way she ever would. Instead, she just turned to her enormous jet black horse to mount him. The stallion was waiting far away for her to calm down, he knew it was better to keep a distance when she was raging.
"Let's get to work" she told him. As she was about to mount him she heard a noise of a branch from the nearby. She looked there immediately and saw a glimpse of blue fabric on a golden and white body, carrying a smaller one.
She froze for a moment and then -
"SAGA PINEHILL" she yelled from deep of her chest. She realized the girl was the one who sent the butterfly - a girl dressed partly in druid clothes riding a palomino wearing blue tack. A girl who she had to look after and who could get on her nerves the fastest and yet, she could have never hurt her.
She jumped in the saddle and threw her heels into her horse's sides, galloping after them.
With that, the chase started.
