Work Text:

Opening his eyes to a spring morning's bright sunlight, Sirius is glad to find Remus's bare chest under his cheek. Why on earth has he not kept his Moony right here at his side ever since Prongs married and moved out!

Shifting a bit, he licks a nipple so as to signal he's awake. And glances hopefully up at the sleep-tousled golden-brown hair and the luscious lips. But Remus barely turns a page in...

"That's not the type of Muggle book you usually read. Any classic or post... something. Anything serious? Is it?"

The battered book does look like the cheapest ones at Remus's favourite second-hand bookstore on Charing Cross Road. But the cover illustration refers to...

"A sea adventure?" Would Remus spend his money on those?

Continuing (or pretending to continue?) to read, Remus speaks distractedly. "Birthday present from Peter. He said this was a great found. Edition from the 50s, and they've now made a TV thriller based..."

"You don't have to read it." No need to please Wormy. His gifts are crap, whatever he says.

"I want to. In my interpretation, this is a Sirius story." Remus's tone is solemn. "The protagonist goes on this Desperate Voyage, probably faces pirates and other dangers – " His mouth widens into a grin. "Or seductions, as he struggles to find his way back to the love of his life."

He drops the book and slides a hand along Sirius's hip. "But you're right. I don't have to read it right now."

Notes:

Desperate Voyage is a TV film from 1980 that features modern-day pirates, and also an autobiographical book by John Caldwell, published in 1949.
