Work Text:

the cold waters engulfed them once again.

“i don’t know shit, man.”
“chef, if you’ve got something to say, spit it out!”

they heard voices coming from above. and so, they swam up, until they reached the surface.

they expected to find themself in the middle of an ocean, or near a beach at least. instead, they found themselves inside a room that seemed too fancy for their liking.

they went towards a door that seemed to be made out of mahogany, and opened it. a waiter greeted them with a smile and a cup of god knows what. they thanked the waiter, and went downstairs.

they then wondered around the house, or a manor to say the least, and thought about there were too many fancy things in it. huge wooden carvings, a knight’s battle gear, etc,. they were so unnecessary, why were there so m–

a huge thunder roared.

they looked around, and felt horrified when a body lied on the floor. it was a man in a dark red velvet robe.

another thunder roared, and they found themself in a bedroom.

their bedroom.

“partner, are you alright? what’s wrong?” they turned their head to see their work partner standing by the door, looking worried.

“i– i’m alright.”

“you’ve got sweat all over your forehead. looked like you ran a hundred miles back n forth.”

“oh.” they were indeed, sweating. their heart was also pounding.

“did you have a bad dream?” their work partner stepped closer.

“y–yeah. i was under the water, when i heard voices.”

their work partner was a detective named “mark”. they did, er, detective stuff together.

“when i tried to follow the voices, i swam up, and found myself in a fancy room instead of a wide open, filled with nothing but the waters.”

“go on.”

“when i went out of the room, a butler offered me some what i think was cocaine? yeah, that.”

“b–benjamin.” mark mumbled.

“what was that? i didn’t catch that.”

“no, nothing. go on.”

“okay, and after that, i found myself wandering around the place that looked like a manor. a huge thunder then roar–”

“stop right there.”

“is everything alright? it’s almost finished. after the thunder, i turned around to see a man in a dark, red velvet cloak, lyi–”

“I TOLD YOU TO STOP. JUST SHUT UP.” mark suddenly went towards them, and grabbed them by the arms. they looked terrified.

“I DON’T WANT YOU MENTIONING ANY OF THOSE DAMN DREAMS EVER AGAIN, AYE? WE’VE GOT A ROLE TO PLAY. STICK TO THE SCRIPT. YOU AS MY PARTNER, ME AS A DETECTIVE. GOT THAT?”

“m–mark?”

mark froze, it was as if like there was some realization going on through his head.

“g–get some sleep.”

“but mark i alrea–”

“SWEET DREAMS!” he said with a sarcastic tone.

everything then went black for them.
